That looks good.

I generally don’t drink soda, but I might drink that.

by Anonymousreply 3September 25, 2024 10:03 PM

I prefer the Shirley Hemphill flavor myself.

My memory of Shirley Temples were that it was way too sweet for my liking, even as a sugar addicted kid. Thankfully I no longer drink soft drinks/pop so I'll have to rely on the reviews.

by Anonymousreply 6September 25, 2024 10:27 PM

Is it made with real Shirley Temple?

by Anonymousreply 7September 25, 2024 10:30 PM

In all seriousness, can't Shirley Temple Black's estate enforce some sort of licensing agreement. It's one thing to see it informally on a restaurant menu, but 7-Up peddling it?

by Anonymousreply 8September 25, 2024 10:31 PM

R4 😂. You are a whole nut.

by Anonymousreply 9September 25, 2024 10:32 PM

R8 no. The drink has been an actual drink for decades.

by Anonymousreply 10September 25, 2024 10:43 PM

No. You can't legally protect the name of dead people, because of the First Amendment.

Little boys drink Roy Rogers.

by Anonymousreply 12September 25, 2024 10:47 PM

[quote] Little boys drink Roy Rogers.

Many little gay boys drank Shirley Temples, when we weren't dialing our Fisher-Price Chatter Phones with a pencil.

by Anonymousreply 13September 25, 2024 10:50 PM

Will there be a 7UP Shirley Temple ZERO?

by Anonymousreply 14September 25, 2024 11:00 PM

Marketing hos are revolting

by Anonymousreply 15September 25, 2024 11:01 PM

R14 yes.

It comes out late October.

R8 the drink has been around for decades. Shirley Temple never sued anyone for that drink while alive.

Saranac has had a Shirley Temple soda for a long ass time.

by Anonymousreply 16September 25, 2024 11:05 PM

The drink was named a Shirley Temple because of the actual Shirley Temple. It was HER signature recipe.

In 1988 I do believe she sued a company for using the name.

by Anonymousreply 17September 25, 2024 11:10 PM

Boylan also has a Shirley Temple soda. But those aren’t the big names sodas and aren’t available everywhere so most don’t know.

by Anonymousreply 18September 25, 2024 11:17 PM

According to Adam Corolla, it’s Yoo-hoo and Hennessy?

by Anonymousreply 20September 25, 2024 11:32 PM

I was always confused about the ingredients for an actual S.T. -- at first I thought it was maraschino cherry juice (the stuff that's in the jar with the cherries) and 7-Up. But then I saw that it could be made with grenadine and soda. Is there an official recipe?

by Anonymousreply 21September 25, 2024 11:33 PM

R21 Lemon Lime soda with a splash of grenadine and topped with maraschino cherries is the official recipe used for decades.

by Anonymousreply 22September 25, 2024 11:37 PM

R6, you seem tedious.

by Anonymousreply 23September 25, 2024 11:41 PM

I'll buy it if they provide a sugar free bevvy.

by Anonymousreply 24September 25, 2024 11:52 PM

R20 😂 righttttt. This is why I love DL and probably will still come back after the election. The wit.

by Anonymousreply 25September 26, 2024 12:00 AM

r24: See R14 and r16

by Anonymousreply 26September 26, 2024 12:22 AM

Does it taste like her vagina?

[quote] My memory of Shirley Temples were that it was way too sweet for my liking, even as a sugar addicted kid.

I also remember not liking kittens because they were too soft, and ice cream because it was too cold.

by Anonymousreply 36September 26, 2024 12:36 AM

Now she gets a soda named after her? That little bitch!

by Anonymousreply 37September 26, 2024 12:37 AM

Which liquor to mix in? Whiskey? Vodka?

by Anonymousreply 38September 26, 2024 12:46 AM

They used to make both Cherry 7UP and Pomegranate 7UP, so I guess this is sort of a logical next step.

by Anonymousreply 39September 26, 2024 1:16 AM

I have 2 pomegranate trees on my property. I never thought they were used in a Shirley Temple. I thought it was just cherry juice and 7-Up or Sprite.

by Anonymousreply 40September 26, 2024 1:32 AM

R40, me too. However, today is the day I learned that grenadine is pomegranate flavored… I’m embarrassed to have never known that.

by Anonymousreply 41September 26, 2024 1:56 AM

AKA a pink lady.

by Anonymousreply 42September 26, 2024 2:08 AM

by Anonymousreply 43September 26, 2024 2:08 AM

Zero Sugar?

by Anonymousreply 44September 26, 2024 2:12 AM

It sound delicious, but I haven't drunk soda for at least 3 decades.

by Anonymousreply 45September 26, 2024 2:22 AM

Fun.

by Anonymousreply 46September 26, 2024 2:23 AM

And 98% of the world collectively asks, "Shirley Who?"

by Anonymousreply 50September 26, 2024 4:35 AM

It's better than a milk n' Pepsi.

by Anonymousreply 51September 26, 2024 4:42 AM

I prefer a Temple Grandin.

R10, you are probably correct. I think those are rights you have to jump on and assert before they come into common usage.

by Anonymousreply 55September 26, 2024 9:08 PM

When I was a kid I looked forward to being able to buy and consume a whole bottle of maraschino cherries by myself. Why, sixty years on, have I never done that?
