Former Co-Star of FX’s ‘English Teacher’ Creator Accuses Him of ‘Baby Reindeer’-Type Behavior

Jon Ebeling heavily implied that Brian Jordan Alvarez committed sexual misconduct while directing and co-starring with Ebeling in a 2016 web series

This was the episode with Jack and Britney at OutTV in Will and Grace, right?

I'm so out of touch. I've heard nothing about this until now, and this came to light months ago.

I've also never head of John Eberling, The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallor, or English Teacher.

I only know Brian Jordan Alvarez from Will and Grace.

So what's the latest? Is English Teacher still on FX? Has Alvarez been cancelled?

by Anonymousreply 3December 17, 2024 12:23 PM

[quote]Alvarez, speaking through his lawyer, Michael J. Kump, says Ebeling’s reaction was overblown and that he was “pretending to be upset,” writing, “This was the performative Kabuki theater of a self-described manipulator, who was distorting the situation to ingratiate himself to [Koenig].” He does not dispute the act but argues that because their previous sexual encounters were consensual, Alvarez assumed the same would be the case here. He is referring to both the hookup at Ebeling’s apartment and the episode-two scene, during which he says both actors masturbated and Alvarez smelled Ebeling’s genitals. (Ebeling says he did not masturbate and that shooting the scene didn’t amount to a sex act: “Nudity on set I’m okay with. I never would have stroked my penis in front of a camera.”) Kump adds that “Brian briefly made contact with Mr. Ebeling’s penis under the covers, believing (correctly and justifiably in light of Brian’s then-current sexual relationship with Mr. Ebeling) that Mr. Ebeling was fine with it.” Ebeling says the oral sex occurred for “a whole take.” In a follow-up, Alvarez’s representatives say Ebeling “consented verbally” to doing it “for real” beforehand. (“Produce the evidence,” Ebeling says. “No way in hell would I have ever consented to that.”)

So Alvarez admits he did it. And the first statement claims he assumed he had consent, and then only later in a second statement are they now saying there was explicit consent. If the latter is true, why didn't they say to start with? Obviously bullshit that was made up once they realised how bad the first statement sounds.

Plus he admits to harassing a guy in college and there are multiple stories of him obsessing about and harassing other straight guys.

Koenig sounds like a massive cunt, too. Wonder if she would say the same thing if this happened to a woman.

by Anonymousreply 4December 17, 2024 12:26 PM

They are both awful people, but people who come to Hollywood to become stars frequently are.

by Anonymousreply 5December 17, 2024 12:32 PM

Don't care, the show rocks. Plus, cancelling people is over after this recent election. Doesn't fly anywhere outside of the lib bubbles, which I will not partake in anymore because nothing will change that way.

by Anonymousreply 6December 17, 2024 12:43 PM

He touched his no no place?

by Anonymousreply 7December 17, 2024 1:02 PM

R6? Fags are always cancellable.

by Anonymousreply 8December 17, 2024 2:01 PM

Good show

by Anonymousreply 9December 17, 2024 2:03 PM

I’m not reading all this

I had ChatGPT summarize it like a sassy black drag queen

Oh baby, buckle up because this tea is piping hot and about to scald. Brian Jordan Alvarez—TikTok’s favorite quirky gay, the brains behind Caleb Gallo and the new FX darling English Teacher—has been out here serving career glow-up realness. But honey, behind that rising star shine? The mess is messier than my wig after a long night of tequila shots and bad decisions.

Now enter Jon Ebeling, one of Brian’s old crew members turned full-blown whistleblower. Jon says their “creative collaboration” on Caleb Gallo went from quirky queer utopia to full-on nightmare fuel. According to Jon, Brian got way too handsy—pressuring him into sexual situations and turning a set scene into something that had zero business being real. And when Jon tried to speak up? The girl gang—led by Brian’s BFF Stephanie Koenig—gave him a pat on the head and said, “Sweetie, calm down. You’re making this bigger than it is.” Uh-uh. Gaslighting? In this economy? I don’t think so.

While Jon’s been out here hiking folks to the Hollywood sign and telling his story, Brian has been pirouetting his way to fame, landing movies, TikTok virality, and English Teacher earning critical raves. It’s giving “I’m thriving, you’re bitter” energy, but Jon’s receipts are shaking the table. Now comedy circles are torn: Is Jon spilling legit tea, or is this just sour grapes because he didn’t get a seat at the fame buffet?

But let’s be real: this story has everything—power dynamics, blurred lines, and queer drama so tangled it’s practically a Shakespearean tragedy with a ring light. The moral? Even the shiniest stars can cast long-ass shadows, darling. And this situation? It’s giving “to be continued…” because somebody’s got to clean up this spilled tea. Until then, Brian better hold onto his wigs, because Jon seems ready to snatch them—one strand at a time. Periodt.

R6 Hortense first tries to get traction with her anti-Biden threads, but continually fails.

So here she comes to this thread to spread her MAGA bullshit.

And fails again.

What a sad, sorry life she leads.

by Anonymousreply 11December 17, 2024 3:25 PM

LA sketch comedy gays—could there BE a more toxic subculture?

by Anonymousreply 12December 17, 2024 3:37 PM

Reading that article, it sounds like everyone involved in this "love triangle" were all pretty fucked up emotionally.

It definitely crossed the line when Alvarez didn't simulate sucking Eberling's cock under the covers while the cameras were rolling, and that's inexcusable. But it seems to me Eberling was pretty much up for anything for a long time.

by Anonymousreply 13December 17, 2024 3:40 PM

I mean, wasn’t this on a ten cent production of a web series ?

It’s not like there was a major studio, major representatives or major money involved. If you can’t fend for yourself in that environment, you should get out of Hollywood.

Far worse things happen at sea.

by Anonymousreply 14December 17, 2024 3:43 PM

r13 So you admit it was inexcusable and then immediately try to make an excuse for it?

by Anonymousreply 15December 17, 2024 4:12 PM

I love how Hortense keeps posting, not realizing I've blocked her. :-)

by Anonymousreply 16December 17, 2024 4:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 23December 17, 2024 4:42 PM

I would care more if the protagonists of this tawdry saga had a modicum of attractiveness. As such, i will not even try to untangle who did what to whom and where.

by Anonymousreply 24December 17, 2024 4:43 PM

R23 It's probably more credible now than the so-called news outlets that have been capitulating to Trump over the last few months.

by Anonymousreply 25December 17, 2024 4:44 PM

Cancel English Teacher!! This is unacceptable...He won't get nominated for an Emmy now.

by Anonymousreply 29December 17, 2024 11:27 PM

Shour grapesh.

by Anonymousreply 30December 18, 2024 12:03 AM

The show is super funny and Brian is hung with a great ass.

by Anonymousreply 31December 18, 2024 12:07 AM

r29 How is it sour grapes when the person being accused admits to doing it?

by Anonymousreply 32December 18, 2024 12:42 AM

R31 Pictures of the hung-ness and great ass-ness, please.

by Anonymousreply 33December 18, 2024 12:43 AM

FIRE HIM. solved it. FYI this midget has no big dick or great ass. yawn.

by Anonymousreply 34December 18, 2024 2:19 AM

r35 So this should be ignored because of something you just made up?

by Anonymousreply 38December 18, 2024 12:54 PM

having any kind of sex on the set of a series is wildly inappropriate and unprofessional. Seems like producers should to be fired.

by Anonymousreply 39December 18, 2024 1:21 PM

As an aside, I was surprised when Alvarez showed his body in the series because clothed it didn't look to me like much was going on but nude he's kind of a stud.

by Anonymousreply 40December 18, 2024 1:28 PM

Oh. That’s why Ebeling seems naïve to the point of being retarded.

He’s on the Spectrum. Extremely evident in his photographs.

by Anonymousreply 41December 18, 2024 1:54 PM

R39 I think Alvarez was the producer of that series, so it was a bit of a conundrum.

R36 Nice little butt and long, fat cock.

Who woulda thunk?

by Anonymousreply 43December 18, 2024 2:30 PM

And a ball-smelling fetish

by Anonymousreply 44December 18, 2024 3:01 PM

I figured he was the or a producer. Entirely fucked up that there was real sex on the set of this series. What an amateur and douchebag too. He should be shamed and punished.

by Anonymousreply 45December 18, 2024 4:02 PM

[Quote] Former Co-Star of FX’s ‘English Teacher’ Creator Accuses Him of ‘Baby Reindeer’-Type Behavior

It took me a while to unravel this thread title

by Anonymousreply 46December 18, 2024 4:10 PM

I find the woe is me straight guy neo-stereotype in these kinds of stories to be frustrating. He’s emulating the “I froze and did nothing bc I was in fear” women’s comment, which women often discuss because they legitimately have reason to fear for their physical safety when these kinds of situations happen to them. There are statistics to back this up. This guy however…I don’t believe for a second felt in, or was in any sort of danger. Saying “I was raped” also seems to be fairly eyebrow raising, and kinda patronizing to people that have experienced rape.

Sure they seem to have had a weird interpersonal relationship between the three of them, and sure that behaviour on set is inappropriate / stupid, but it was also a YouTube web series tiny production.

Also firmly believe there’s a “gay panic” element to this story. Just sick of straight guys that didn’t suffer in any physical way using up all the oxygen in the room on the topic of sexual assault and rape. There are far more serious stories that if discussed would be much more helpful for safeguarding society, than this minor scuffle.

by Anonymousreply 47December 18, 2024 11:20 PM

Oh this didn't happen on the English Teacher set? But some super marginal amateur series?

by Anonymousreply 48December 18, 2024 11:21 PM

Yes, this all centers around his past web series, not the F/X show.

by Anonymousreply 49December 18, 2024 11:23 PM

thanks. well its still scuzzy to bring sex into a shoot unless everyone has been hired for porn.

by Anonymousreply 50December 18, 2024 11:28 PM

r47 is making up a lot of bullshit to desperately try to dismiss this

by Anonymousreply 51December 18, 2024 11:44 PM

This show is awful on so many levels. I heard the interview they did on NPR, and of course they did not get called on some of the more questionable premises of the show. An out gay English teacher in Texas. Giving advice to a gay kid. Bad advice. Modern Family treatment of gays with a twist. Appalling all the same.

by Anonymousreply 52December 18, 2024 11:49 PM

R51 what did I make up? I said about 4 times it’s my opinion. None of you dickheads can read anymore 🙄

I’ve no horse in this race. I think the show will be canceled, which is a shame bc it’s funny. Just very bored of straight guys seeing how much attention they can get by larping as victims.

by Anonymousreply 53December 18, 2024 11:50 PM

r53 You claim he said he froze in fear - he said nothing of the sort. You say it was a tiny production, as if that somehow makes sexual assault fine. And you suggest being upset that your friend and boss put his mouth on your dick in a workplace without consent is somehow a gay panic response. Your entire post is bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 54December 18, 2024 11:55 PM

Fuggo on fuggo abuse

by Anonymousreply 55December 18, 2024 11:56 PM

[quote] “I am assuming nobody on set knows what’s going on under the comforter, and I’m just frozen … I didn’t know what to do. I’m on set with my director, who is assaulting me. It was a horrible feeling.”

R54 from the horses mouth. And it was a small production it was a YouTube series. I’m guessing you won’t reply but who’s bullshitting now?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 56December 18, 2024 11:59 PM

r56 He said he was frozen, not frozen in fear you fuckwit. And you claimed other people don't know how to read? Absolutely nothing in that says he was scared or fearful as you claimed.

And again, it was a YouTube series - so? How does that have any bearing on whether it was sexual assault or not?

by Anonymousreply 57December 19, 2024 12:03 AM

R57 “he said nothing of the sort” 😂

by Anonymousreply 58December 19, 2024 12:04 AM

r58 And he didn't. Your entire first paragraph in r47 is bullshit, as you yourself just proved. So thanks for that.

Now, explain how it being a YT series means that wasn't sexual assault. And explain how it's gay panic.

by Anonymousreply 59December 19, 2024 12:07 AM

R59 girl when people say they “freeze” the meaning of that is that it’s a response that is a fear response. I can’t explain implicit meaning to you of the English language sorry.

Unless you want to come up with a new word for “freeze” when someone points a gun at someone.

And the later comment obviously has to do with budget and the availability of an inimacy coordinator or similar on set. Are you stupid?

by Anonymousreply 60December 19, 2024 12:12 AM

There are more stories about Alvarez.

His legal representation didn't do him any favors in that New York magazine story.

by Anonymousreply 61December 19, 2024 12:14 AM

LPSG knew about this shit 6 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 62December 19, 2024 12:19 AM

Alvarez is a creep and has always been a creep.

by Anonymousreply 63December 19, 2024 12:19 AM

He must be blowing dudes for jobs. How does someone go from making YouTube videos to getting cast in the tragic reboot of Will & Grace and then gets his own show?

by Anonymousreply 64December 19, 2024 12:20 AM

r60 That's a pitiful attempt. People can freeze for any number of reasons, not just fear. You're making yourself look foolish now. Well, even more so.

And who even mentioned an intimacy coordinator? And how exactly would an IC change the fact that Alvarez did something unscripted, unplanned and without consent?

[quote]The stage directions read, “Caleb goes to do so, under the covers.”

He only needed to put his head under the sheet. Again, you're making up stuff.

by Anonymousreply 65December 19, 2024 12:22 AM

R65 tell you what, you go type in “I froze in…” into google and see what the suggested input is. For fun.

by Anonymousreply 66December 19, 2024 12:23 AM

Oh wow the show wasn't renewed for a second season and it got stellar reviews...I'm guessing nobody watched it or FX decided to cut the cord to avoid dealing with this controversy.

by Anonymousreply 67December 19, 2024 12:26 AM

r66 The fact that you rely on Google autocomplete for research explains a lot.

And none of it changes the fact that there is nothing at all to suggest he froze in fear, but instead froze because he didn't know how to react.

by Anonymousreply 68December 19, 2024 12:27 AM

"So you wrote a bad play and got molested. Welcome to the theater"

R60 This R59 is a shit stirring cunt I blocked ages you.

You should, too.

by Anonymousreply 70December 19, 2024 12:33 AM

R70 noted. What a weirdo 😂

by Anonymousreply 71December 19, 2024 12:36 AM

Man, what a mess. Too bad since the show seemed to be such a success. Now that it appears to have been cancelled as a result, it will be interesting to see how Alvarez’s career is impacted going forward (Koenig’s, too, as she doesn’t come out of the story looking very good either).

by Anonymousreply 72December 20, 2024 1:31 PM

He can always go back to dancing at Adonis Lounge.

by Anonymousreply 73December 20, 2024 2:59 PM

Poor Stephanie.

by Anonymousreply 74December 20, 2024 5:08 PM

Stephanie’s husband, Chris Riggi, is really hot. Hopefully he’ll get divorced; she seems really toxic.

by Anonymousreply 75December 20, 2024 6:00 PM

3 men have come forward claiming harassment now with one getting a protection order against him for stalking?! Alvarez is finished.

by Anonymousreply 76December 20, 2024 6:47 PM

r76 Are those the ones from college or new ones?

by Anonymousreply 77December 20, 2024 7:01 PM

Three more? Yeah, that sounds like game over.

by Anonymousreply 78December 20, 2024 7:11 PM

R76 Where do you see this? I did a search and nothing came up.

by Anonymousreply 79December 20, 2024 8:48 PM

This is getting juicy.

by Anonymousreply 80December 20, 2024 9:10 PM

[quote] Poor Stephanie.

She’s as evil as he is!

by Anonymousreply 81December 20, 2024 9:19 PM

Both Stephanie and Brian are known to be predators. They’re both psychos.

by Anonymousreply 82December 20, 2024 9:20 PM

From LPSG:

Have worked with Brian and Stephanie before. Both horrible, horrible, horrible people. Brian routinely conducts himself in a manner that shows a total lack of any impulse control whatsoever, which manifests itself in sexual matters like this and in his business dealings, where he has steamrolled over just about anyone who has tried to help him along the way.

Stephanie is a tried and true cult follower. Their relationship always had vibes of Charles Manson and his "family" from the 60s. My friend joked that if Brian told Stephanie to drive into the hills to kill Sharon Tate, she'd already be looking at google maps.

by Anonymousreply 83December 20, 2024 9:20 PM

What did this so-called harassment consist of?

by Anonymousreply 84December 20, 2024 9:26 PM

Because reading an article is too difficult for r84 - he started sucking the accuser's dick without consent on set in the middle of a shoot.

by Anonymousreply 85December 20, 2024 9:41 PM

Where are these supposed new allegations? There’s nothing in the trades, on Reddit etc.

by Anonymousreply 86December 20, 2024 10:28 PM

I'm too lazy to read the article. I get that he started sucking his dick under the covers without consent. Did he finish?

by Anonymousreply 87December 21, 2024 3:02 AM

r87 You're pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 88December 21, 2024 11:31 AM

3 accusers have come forward. Álvarez was found guilty of stalking straight men in college. He’s mentally ill and dangerous.

by Anonymousreply 89December 22, 2024 2:32 PM

Stephanie’s texts just ended her career.

by Anonymousreply 90December 22, 2024 2:32 PM

r89 So there aren't new accusers then? So why did you try and pretend they were?

But yes, the article contains details of three men he harassed and stalked during his college years.
