Republicans thwarted in Nebraska
A Republican effort to lock down all of Nebraska’s electoral votes for former President Donald Trump appeared doomed Monday when a state lawmaker denied backers his crucial support for the move.
GOP Sen. Mike McDonnell of Omaha said in a statement that he opposes awarding Nebraska’s five electoral votes on a winner-take-all basis, like 48 other states do. Nebraska and Maine give two electoral votes to the candidate who wins statewide and one vote to the winner in each congressional district.
McDonnell’s position means Republicans don’t have the two-thirds majority they’d need in Nebraska’s unique, one-chamber Legislature to pull off a change ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

This is great, this one electoral vote could seriously swing the election. For those who don’t know, Omaha is a spectacularly blue dot in a VAST Red Sea. Yet is granted its independent electoral vote.

Could they do this in Maine?

It probably wouldn't work there either.

R2 The deadline for passing a law in Maine that would take effect in time for the election has passed.

No R1 is wrong. The city goes not have its own electoral vote—you’re an idiot. Each district in Nebraska, as drawn by the legislature every 10 years, awards one vote to the popular vote winner. Not the same thing. At all.

R2 Maine already does it the same way as NE. Catch a clue.

R6 I don't think that was R2's question. He was wondering if Maine could also try to change their current way of electing delegates to winner-take-all, the way Nebraska was trying.
Catch a clue.

How would this even be considered a legitimate election if allowed? Might as well shut down voting.

Face it, cunt. You misunderstood the post and are now trying to cover up your stupidity. There was nothing humorous at all in your post.

The ironic thing is that the one Republican State Senator who is holding out is only doing it because he plans to run for Governor next year and he knows Omaha would completely turn against him for Governor if he voted to remove the blue dot. He’s not doing anything noble. He’s as self-interested as the rest of the Republicans.
It’s Chinatown, Jake.

That’s what they’re trying to do, R13. End voting.
They can’t win at the ballot box anymore so they’re just trying to suppress the vote, optimise technicalities in their favour and win in the courts. It’s why they have no real policies they want to persuade voters with.
