Mamie, with the glamour girl fixings, was a sight to behold, but she just doesn't have a filmography worth remembering. Even Marilyn's replacement, Sheree North, starred in better films.

The other three were all Marilyn knockoffs but had their unique charms. Mamie had the least credibility as to any performances and was just an extreme blonde though maybe the pretties. Most of Diana’s work was in British stuff not widely seen in America but she really did have some talent beyond the total fake blonde look. Jayne did a couple of decent things but was largely self promotion.

I don't think Barbara Nichols could be compared to Marilym=n, et al. She was a character actress who played cheap, tragic blonde. Joi Lansing was just an ornament and no serious competition for Marilyn and Co,

Norma Jean had a perfect, timeless beauty and was well read: first place. Mansfield was highly intelligent and accomplished despite her airhead act, plus me and her share the same birth date: second place.

As for Mamie and Diana: Van Doren is yicky, Dors looked like a midcentury hardcore porn performer.

Mamie, at 93, is the only one among those blondes (Marilyn, Jayne, Diana, Sheree, Barbara, Cleo, Joi) still with us. Her ex-husband, bandleader Ray Anthony, is also still around, at 102. Their only son, Perry Anthony, 68, is also still alive.

Marilyn was pretty but she did have some help from the plastic surgeon who whittled down her nose and chin.

Seeing it objectively, most of them were not really remarkable and should have thanked their lucky stars for the fact that they ever managed to become successful.

Marilyn was genuinely beautiful after plastic surgery, and superbly styled to look glamorous even though she was white trash through and through. She was an extremely mannered, artificial actress and she spoke, rather than sang, in tune. If she had not died young, most people would have only remembered her as an old plastic surgery victim who made frequent appearances in Columbo, Murder She Wrote, the Love Boat and Dynasty.

Mamie van Doren is the 1950s equivalent of Pamela Anderson: generically pretty, cheap-looking and marginally talented at best. And just like Pamela, she's managed to hold on to her celebrity status for most of her life, even if nobody quite knows how she's managed to achieve this.

Jayne Mansfield was more intelligent than most actresses and a good enough violinist, but nowhere near the genius that most people say she was. She was also a bland actress, a bad singer and a bad dancer, but she was tall, wore sleazy clothes and a ton of makeup. However, she had a tragic death, which has also turned her into a popular culture icon, albeit a mid-to-lower range one.

Diana Dors was the British Jayne Mansfield, but on top of being on the plainer side and hiding it by dressing and styling herself like a whore, she couldn't even play any instruments. Her alleged intelligence is limited to being frequently associated with criminals, and recording the shenanigans of politicians and businessmen in orgies, during which she supplied them with drugs and C-list celebrities.
