I also liked it, off to a good start.

Premiere was an interminable slog... until Cristin Milioti's Sophia showed up and stole every scene she was in. Couldn't look away, I was transfixed by her.

*Sofia

Another solid episode.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 30, 2024 5:33 AM |
I enjoyed the second episode a lot more than the premiere. Man, Milioti is just something else, can't keep my eyes off her. A perfectly modulated performance, which doesn't for a second fall into the common trap of going overboard – and thus into cringe territory – when portraying someone with a mental disorder. Gaga should be taking notes.
The beautiful Theo Rossi appears, what a pleasant surprise!
End credits song – Lana Del Rey's cover of The Turtles' Happy Together – was haunting and sublime.

This show sucks.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 30, 2024 8:31 PM |
Milioti is wonderful
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 30, 2024 9:09 PM |
First episode was FANTASTIC, the second merely pretty good.
Colin Ferrell is simply terrific in that latex fat suit, his performance is amazing. (I also love the performance of the actress of Oz's mother, who is suffering from dementia, and the relationship between the two). I'm really looking forward to the rest of the run - with some trepidation since it has various writers and directors (though the show-runner really seems on his game), and the writer of that first episode (Lauren LeFranc) won't return until the season finale, and the writing of episode 2 wasn't nearly as strong.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 30, 2024 9:13 PM |
I completely forgot to mention that Shohreh mafuckin' Aghdashloo shows up in the second episode as well. And she's speaking Farsi! God, I love this woman so much.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 30, 2024 9:18 PM |
I love her too r11. She's always a presence.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 30, 2024 11:07 PM |
Picture it, Gotham 2024...
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 30, 2024 11:12 PM |
Tonight's episode was AMAZING!
Milioti better get an Emmy for tonight's work.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 14, 2024 4:47 AM |
This show is my favorite of the year. And I did NOT see that coming.
The stuttering kid is fantastic - I had a stutter (still do to a certain extent) and he really nails it. It's not as easy to do as it might seem.
Milioti is somehow riveting when she's doing absolutely nothing.
Colin is always good.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 14, 2024 5:37 AM |
Milioti is incredible, an award worthy performance.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 14, 2024 5:54 AM |
My favorite gay man Michael Zegen is on this show!
He played Randall in the Walking Dead, but that was a while ago.
I'm glad to see that he's on another hit show.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 14, 2024 6:52 AM |
He’ll always be Mr. Mazel to me.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 14, 2024 7:42 AM |
Milioti was the girl that was molested by James Barbour. Landed him in jail.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 14, 2024 7:47 AM |
[quote]He’ll always be Mr. Mazel to me.
As opposed to Mr. Tov?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 14, 2024 1:13 PM |
The dreaded flashback episode. However, it was amazing, the best of the season so far! Mostly thanks to Milioti, who is just endlessly watchable. Can't keep my eyes off her Sofia.
Theo Rossi looked delicious in that tight red polo.
[quote]He played Randall in the Walking Dead, but that was a while ago. I'm glad to see that he's on another hit show.
Gurl, he was a lead on five seasons of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which he is best known for. Did you sleep through that? I had no idea he was gay, I don't think I've ever seen that mentioned on DL before. He doesn't ping to me. Like, at all.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 14, 2024 7:18 PM |
Great episode, love the twist.
I've also never seen even one minute of the Mrs. Maisel show, and I'm not r17.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 15, 2024 5:23 AM |
[quote] He doesn't ping to me. Like, at all.
Believe it or not but there are a lot of gay men who don't "ping."
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 15, 2024 5:24 AM |
It doesn't matter if you watched Maisel or not, it was in the zeitgeist when it aired originally, so you should at least be passingly familiar through cultural osmosis alone that Rachel Brosnahan and Michael Zegen were in it.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 15, 2024 5:33 AM |
r23 Well, that comes as a complete shock to me. I've never heard anything like it.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 15, 2024 5:34 AM |
r24 it wasn't a huge show that you would've been automatically aware of. It was a streamer with a niche audience.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 15, 2024 2:12 PM |
I tried watching it but got bored. Snorefest.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 15, 2024 2:14 PM |
I caught ep 4 which focussed on Cristin and she was fantastic. I went back to episode 1 and am catching up. Great show.

Are we allowed to have stories other than those originating in comic books?
Aren’t we sick to death of these childish, violent fantasies?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 20, 2024 7:55 PM |
[quote]Aren’t we sick to death of these childish, violent fantasies?
Not when they are as well written and executed as this show happens to be.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 20, 2024 10:08 PM |
[quote] Are we allowed to have stories other than those originating in comic books?
What kind of argument is that?
There are literally hundreds of shows from which to choose. Are you actually complaining about a show you don’t watch?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 20, 2024 10:33 PM |
Another great episode.
I fear Ma Cobb is not much longer for this world.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 28, 2024 4:39 AM |
It is a brilliant show.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 28, 2024 4:53 AM |
Since when is Michael Zegen gay? (Doesn't matter if he pings or not. - he doesn't -but that doesn't mean he is or isn't.)
I've just never heard a thing, and an internet search brings up nothing. Still doesn't really answer the question, but you'd think there would be SOMETHING out there.
I love his body. Whether he is or not.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 28, 2024 6:19 AM |
Honestly, this was one of the lesser episodes, or at least it didn't grab me as did episodes one and four. Looking forward to the return of showrunner Lauren LeFranc's writing for the season finale on November 10
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 28, 2024 6:44 AM |
I love this show!!! It is FANTASTIC. Colin Farrell, Cristin, and the writer/directors are doing a fantastic job. Emmy time!
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 30, 2024 7:48 PM |
I know Oz is the main character, with his fat ugly repulsive self, but I’m rooting for Sofia.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 4, 2024 3:07 PM |
They're calling the final 'the final episode.'. Is this a limited series? If so, sorry to see it go because it's fucking fantastic. Between this, The Franchise and Somebody, Somewhere, HBO is back on top.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 4, 2024 3:18 PM |
I had been kind of avoiding this but with most of the HHWers here giving it a thumbs up - I think I shall watch.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 4, 2024 3:28 PM |
Another great use of a Dolly Parton song.
Is Colin a fan?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 4, 2024 3:52 PM |
I give major props to the makeup department because if you can make Colin Farrell look not just unattractive but downright repulsive then that make up department deserves all the awards. Seriously, Colin Farrell has always been one of the most handsome actors ever. I’ve very impressed!
by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 4, 2024 4:27 PM |
It's pretty much the best show on TV right now.
They should integrate "The" Batman storyline on here rather than make another movie dud.
I agree with you, r41. The makeup work is astonishing.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 4, 2024 6:47 PM |
Tomorrow’s finale:
I’m really hoping they don’t kill Sofia off. She’s too great a character.
Oz’ fat repulsive ass needs to suffer, even if that means losing his mother.
I really hope they don’t have Vic showing up with this huge backup like Oz asked him to. That would be sooo cliche.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 9, 2024 8:21 PM |
Don't kill Sofia, give her a spinoff!
by Anonymous | reply 44 | November 9, 2024 8:37 PM |
Agree r44!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 9, 2024 8:49 PM |
The kid who plays young Oz is really fantastic.

We'll have to wait for the next Batman movie in two years.
This series was excellent, very well done.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 11, 2024 5:22 AM |
Why did Oz kill that one person? What am I missing?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 11, 2024 5:47 AM |
Beause the kid said they were family and we’ve seen what Oz does to his family. He really is a fucking sociopath. Bravo.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | November 11, 2024 9:06 AM |
Love the way he turned his whore into his mom at the very end. They've been hiding all season just how much like her younger version she looked.
Milioti was perfection from start to finish, just the way she lit up her fag was pure magic. And when she lit up three at once in the finale... Accolades coming her way, henny.
Poor Victor. Just as he gets empowered, he's gone.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | November 11, 2024 11:56 AM |
Thank Christ they didn't kill off Milioti which is what I was expecting.
Plus we have it setting up her escape with that letter from Catwoman.
Nice touch at the end to see Os go full Penguin with the suit, top hat and umbrella.
Can't wait for the film. Reeves is done writing it and it is supposed to start shooting early next year.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | November 12, 2024 12:40 AM |
Deirdre O'Connell was exceptional as his mom.
Sofia is a multi dimensional character, interested in the psychology of her rivals. She realized too late though what Oz was but knew that his mother had his number all along.
The writing just seemed to flow so effortlessly.
Bravo, but poor Victor. There's no rooting for the bad guy here, make no mistake.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | November 12, 2024 1:01 AM |
I just don’t get why Oz’ repulsive ass killed Vic. I hope Batman makes him suffer.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | November 12, 2024 2:37 AM |
Oz cared too much for him and that makes him a weakness that can be exploited by Oz's enemies.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | November 12, 2024 2:47 AM |
Wow R56! Oz is one sick fuck!
by Anonymous | reply 57 | November 12, 2024 4:52 AM |
So much great writing. But after these final two episodes I'm more hesitant to recommend it to people generally than I was at the beginning of the series. Not because of a drop in quality, but because... you know
by Anonymous | reply 58 | November 12, 2024 5:24 AM |
Because why?
I recommended the show to many friends and they all loved it.
