Why do they read off of the cards when they have a guest. Don't you think they should get an idea of the question before and look at the person to whom they are speaking? Sunny is the worst at this, followed by Joy.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 23, 2024 5:53 AM |
Jackson's story is all over the media - they're going to have to cover it.
Here's what Sunny will say:
This weekend, I had to go to Cornell University to have the difficult conversation with my baby girl, Paloma about Janet Jackson's comments on Vice President Kamala Harris. As I expected, it was the topic of conversation among female students of color on the campus, so I decided to gather everyone around me on the quad and address this issue amongst all the female students of color on the campus grounds. I said:
"As we all know, Janet Jackson was once a powerful inspiration in the Community of Color, back in the 1980s when I was just your ages and attending a Historical Black College. I would hang on every word she said, like when she declared, "Ain't no acid in this house" on her Rhythm Nation album. I truly believed she wasn't taking acid, and it was wrong for us women of color to even think of doing so - even though sister Whitney was dropping acid at the time.
But that was a long time ago. Today, she's a washed up has been - a former shell of the popular, successful woman of color she once was. What went wrong ? Some say it happened 20 years ago, when she showed the world her big nipple ring on her tittie at the SuperBowl. She spiraled out of control. Others say its when she had to stand next to her lily white niece and nephews at her brother Michael's funeral in 2009, wondering 'Who the fuck are these white kids and why in fuck are they getting Michael's fortune ?' Some say it's when she gave birth to the baby we have yet to see, at the age of 53. I don't know for sure.
But I do know she's not the powerful voice of the community she once was. Her remarks on Vice President Harris is further proof girl's gone and lost her mind. It's time Kamala had a sit down with that girl and told her to 'Tell it to my face'. "
So that was the end of my conversation with these young ladies, I told them I wouldn't be taking any questions, and that's all I'm going to say about it here on the show.

Janet was the first topic out of the gate. Whoopi said Janet made a mistake, we all have made mistakes and we need to “show the girl some grace”.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 23, 2024 4:16 PM |
Except Janet hasn’t apologized.
Did Whoopi mention Janet recanting that apology?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 23, 2024 4:24 PM |
I don’t think it was mentioned that the apology was recanted R8. There was no mention of the fact that the guy who took it upon himself to do it was fired. One of the women towards the end said Janet is still grieving the death of her brother, leading Whoopi to remind us to give Janet grace.

Joe Biden will be on the show on Wednesday.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 23, 2024 4:47 PM |
First time a sitting president will be live on the show. Obama was pre-taped.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 23, 2024 4:48 PM |
To say I hate-watch this show would be an understatement at this point. Whoopi plays celebrity apologist "because here's the thing, you know, I too have made mistakes, and you don't feel like apologizing when everyone's coming at you." Fuck off, Whoopi.
I have an idea Whoopi, why don't you first learn the topic at hand before you open your big ignorant mouth. She was obviously alluding to her Holocaust debacle, but just like Janet you both opened your big ignorant mouths on a worldwide platform and spewed misinformation. You also mispronounced Kamala's name. Fucking stoner is sounding more like Huggy Bear by the day.
They need to give Whoopi a pulpit, set in a corner at the far end of the set where she can spew her chastising moralistic bullshit while the other co-hosts get on with the show. She always speaks as if she's the final authoritative word on every subject. She's had three failed marriages yet felt the need to write an advice book on relationships. I'm just so sick of her. She brings every conversation to a grinding halt and is completely unfit to moderate this show.
Sunny says Kamala is black because she says she's black and Sunny knows such things because she too is multi-racial, and she can identify any way she wants. Well Sunny, if it's ever discovered one of your kids has some genetic disorder specific to a certain race or ethnicity you may want to rethink your juvenile and delusional perception of what makes up race and ethnicity.
VYD Music: Another genius idea except not.

Just so long as you hate post here.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 23, 2024 4:58 PM |
LOL, I'll take that as a thumbs-up, R13.
I've been watching this show since it premiered in August of '97. I stopped intermittently during the Rosie Perez "I know nothing except to talk about boxing." era ie year. A Whoopi pick. Then Jenny McCarthy era ie year and I hated the idiot from The Cosby Show. (another Whoopi pick, of course because she's an idiot) paired against Candace Cameron. Two former child actors in a cage match between liberal and conservative talking points. Ridiculous choices.
Meghan was the worst of the worst of the worst, and I can't believe she lasted as long as she did. (Another Whoopi pick. Because. Again. SHE'S AN IDIOT.)

The show is always on in my chemo clinic waiting room. I watched it in the Star Jones era, which sucked quite a bit, but it;s now unwatchable. Sunny is stupid and vain, never a good combination. Whoopi is just stupid. Jooy needed to retire 10 years ago, The two Republicans was not even remotely interesting. Put this turkey out of its misery.

Here’s the Janet Jackson segment if you’re interested.
Whoopi did mention the guy being fired, but didn’t go into it. I agree with R12, Whoopi needs to be seated at the far end of the set to spew her “chastising moralistic bullshit”. Her saying that Jackson is not a “political” person doesn’t fly, and it’s not an excuse for Jackson to spew misinformation. If you don’t know or don’t care to know what’s happening or what’s at stake, then keep your mouth shut Miss Jackson.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 23, 2024 9:46 PM |
Here's what I learned from their discussion about Janet Jackson's controversial statement:
1. Ana - shockingly - made the most sense. She came down hard on Jackson, holding her totally accountable for the statements she made in an interview she knew was going to be made public. Amen.
2. Alyssa - Janet is iconic, and the blame is on the algorithms of your social media, so we can't blame Janet if she was repeating this misinformation which appeared on her social media because of the algorithms. And she's iconic. So there.
3. Sara - She backed up what Alyssa said: It's all about the algorithms and what you read on Facebook, so don't believe everything you read on Facebook because of the algorithms, because you know - the algorithms. (She said nothing at all about Jackson, how irresponsible she was, about her 'non apology' or the consequences of the staff member who was fired.)
4, Sunny - She reminded us she is the only multi-racial host at the table (lest we forgot), and she decided to give Jackson's statement 'no air' - this enabled her to kiss Kamala's ass more, as she unashamedly angles for a position on her team in January. So sorry - no mention of Jackson or the guy Jackson fired.
Whoopi - She gets to tie it all up, and let's us know that Jackson can not be held responsible for what she says for a number of reasons: 1) She's not a 'political animal' 2) She's a busy girl 3) She's in mourning. Ana asked (off camera) if Jackson had a phone where maybe she could fact-check before she said Harris wasn't black, and Whoopi scolded her - Janet is a busy girl, and she's in mourning ! We all make mistakes - and we need to go easy on her. (Just like the way Janet easily fired her team member for issuing an apology on her behalf ?).

We also got to hear from Kristen Bell today. She relayed how she knew Dax Shepard was “the one” when he took the gum she had been chewing and put it in his mouth.
Whoopi asked, “what flavor?”, and Kristen said she had been chewing it for a while so the flavor was gone.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 24, 2024 1:20 AM |
That Jackson clip is awful. Whoopi and Sunny can fuck off. You just did a whole hot topic last week on Taylor Swift's BFF (whom no one gives a shit about) and her political views and how it affects her relationship with Swift. You also did a segment on Taylor Swift's endorsement and how it changes the political game. Now all of a sudden, a musician's political views don't matter? And it's not worth the airtime to discuss it?
And has anyone on that panel mentioned Shirley Chisholm ONCE since Kamala has been nominated? You know, the first black woman who ran for President, who opened doors for Kamala? Sunny constantly acting like Harris is the first black woman "let into these spaces" is incredibly disrespectful to that women's legacy and all the doors she knocked down.
Also, this producer clearly wants to become a name in his own right, hence those wretched podcasts he now does and puts online. You are not Barbara Walters, dear, so please stop. Work on rectifying this shitshow first.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 24, 2024 2:20 AM |
R22, Shirley is dead, so she is of no use to Sunny.
Here is a bit of a NYT article on this debacle brought to you by Janet Jackson: " Mo Elmasri, who said he was Ms. Jackson’s manager, issued an apology on Sunday in which he said her statements were “based on misinformation.” Ms. Jackson, he told BuzzFeed, “respects Harris’s dual heritage as both Black and Indian and apologizes for any confusion caused.”
After the statement was repeated by other news media outlets, representatives for Ms. Jackson issued a statement to Variety, saying that Mr. Elmasri was not her manager and was not an authorized spokesman. They told Variety that Randy Jackson, one of Ms. Jackson’s brothers, is her manager."
"Ms. Jackson’s representatives did not respond to requests for comment, and neither she nor her representatives appear to have tried to distance themselves from her statements about Ms. Harris."
What is her fucking problem? Just apologize already.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 24, 2024 3:07 AM |
R23 She's not apologizing for what she said - she obviously believes it is true, and she stands by this. Which is why Ana was the only one who had the cajones to call her out on this. She knew exactly what she was saying.
Screw the 'algorithms' and all the other excuses the other three women were trying to make 'happen' this morning - Jackson knew damn well what she was saying. The worst excuse was that she was in 'mourning' over the death of her brother last weekend. Fuck that - she could sit for an interview while 'in mourning' ? Most people would postpone, and it would be understandable.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 24, 2024 3:12 AM |
R24, this is some Trump level bullshit. It reminds me of Obama's birth certificate where he felt compelled to release his actual birth certificate in order to silence the mob. Now the non-believers will expect Kamala to take a DNA test in order to prove her ancestry. Jackson must be a Trumper or one of the dumbest people alive. Interchangeable really.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 24, 2024 4:23 AM |
Which is why Harris ignoring it as failed Trump Play Book, is brilliant.
Kamala don't play that.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 24, 2024 5:23 AM |

Whoopi now yelling at the camera chastising us for blaming Taylor Swift for Kelce's lackluster performance on the field. I don't blame Taylor, Whoopi. I don't care about Travis Kelce, his team, their record or anything else to do with them. So kindly shut the fuck up and stop yelling at the viewers. Honestly, she sounds like a drugged-out bag lady yelling at passerby on the street.
Uzo Aduba was the only black child in her class. That's why you're referred to as a minority. You're in the fucking minority. Hear that, Sunny?
Michael Eric Dyson on Congresswoman Nancy Mace: "I didn't call you a racist." Congresswoman Nancy Mace: Yeah, you did.
On Mark Robinson: "White supremacy by ventriloquism." So, Kamala's the smartest woman in the world but a 56-year-old black, seasoned politician who spews hate is being controlled by whitey? Sure thing, pal.
Now he's blaming every single tragedy ever befallen a person of color, women, Hispanics, and Asians on white evangelicals.
I've come to the conclusion I'm just too damn white for this show. This is DEI hell, and I've had enough.

Yes, the yelling today throughout the entire show was too much. I’m a committed Harris/Walz voter, but I’m at my breaking point with this show. I’ll watch tomorrow’s show with Joe Biden, but after that if I have time to watch tv, I’ll watch Jennifer Hudson’s show.

by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 24, 2024 6:06 PM |
Sunny said that 'black women are the most educated demographic' in the nation.
Sunny also said a few weeks ago that 'no black men' are voting for Trump, even though latest stats show at least 25% of registered black men is voting for Trump, and the number keeps growing. So where is Sunny sourcing her info from ? She never says.
And if Sunny really believes Black women are the most educated - how does she explain Janet Jackson ?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 24, 2024 9:56 PM |
Yes R32, the king of deflection deflected to race as usual and declared he was the victim and this was another case of white bigotry by saying, "the black brute seeks the innocent white woman" and these idiots just smiled and agreed. He said what was once considered a compliment is now considered harassment. He also said misnaming (don't you mean mispronouncing?) Kamala is racist. Trump refers to Gavin Newsom as "Newscum" is that racist?
He actually says white Christians hate themselves and have not forgiven themselves for the past. Who, slaveowner Christians? How many living Christians does this idiot think have ancestors who owned slaves in this country?
He also lied when he said the only people who received reparations after the Civil War were white slave owners. Whoopi has said on the show her ancestors received reparations. Yet she just sat there and said nothing to correct his statement.
Thrice married preacher? Yeah, you're "a child of God" He's so full of shit. He's just as divisive as Trump he just wraps it up in a pretty rhyming preacher's bow and pretends he wants unity between black and white. No, he wants complete submission. He's Sunny sans vagina. Race on the brain OCD 24/7. And to top it all off it looks as if he's wearing a cheap hairpiece.
Bonus: At the beginning of the clip, around ten seconds in it sounds as if Whoopi (cushion) is once again true to her name or it could be a chair moving. For the sake of the co-hosts, I hope it was the latter.

On the Harris/Trump debate Dyson said, “I ain’t seen no Haitians eating dogs but I saw a black woman eating a white ass on television”.
How these dumb-as-rocks hosts who pose as liberated, enlightened feminists let this go by without comment is a mystery. His comment was disrespectful to Harris.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 24, 2024 10:30 PM |
R36 I caught this, too. They laughed like this was the funniest thing they ever heard in their lives - and Whoopi and Sunny laughed the heartiest. He was disgusting. I have a feeling he didn't sell many books with home viewers.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 24, 2024 10:47 PM |
R36, R37 I didn't care for that comment either. I found it be crude. He also said Kamala is not petty then followed it by calling Trump an orange apparition. So very Christian. How can they not see through this guy? I suppose they don't want to. You can see most of his comments are prepared and it's noticeable when he has to stop for a split second to recall his latest 'off-the-cuff' riff.
Like I said in an earlier post, I just can't relate to this show anymore. Whoopi was wearing a Biggie t-shirt yesterday and the other co-hosts were complimenting her. An ABC show under the News Division and the moderator is proudly wearing a dead criminal on her chest. I don't know when the inmates took over the asylum (Yes, I do it was after they fired Barbara and Bill Gedde) but if this is the direction cuckold Brian wants to take the show, so be it, but I won't be watching because I'm obviously no longer their target demo.

I was confused by their discussion of the filibuster. Alyssa said she thinks we need to keep the filibuster because should the Republicans get in again, they will use the '51 Vote' for getting parts of 2025 into law. Sunny said she disagreed with her, gave the history of the filibuster and how it was used in a nefarious way over the years. Then she said we should keep it ? Was I hearing her argument correctly ?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 26, 2024 12:26 AM |
You heard right, R50. I was more amused by her prepared written statement with her impassioned delivery as if she were trying to impress Biden while also auditioning for a post in Kamala's administration.
In reference to Manchin's refusal to endorse Kamala, did you notice Rochester replies "Well, we ain't endorsin' you, How 'bout that." Then Joy said, "Manchin is gone anyway." Meaning he is leaving the senate at the end of his term in November and will not seek re-election. Whoopi - I can't be assed to research and keep abreast of the news even though I'm moderator of a politically centric nationwide talk show then replied -" Yes, he's gone a whole other way". She doesn't know what she's talking about. Ever. Meanwhile ass-kisser Joy shakes her head in affirmation "yeah."
How much do I hate this show? Much. Very much.

I was just about to post the same thing, R62. Here it is, lol.
No mention of Mayor Eric Adams even though it's an international story. ABC, CBS and NBC pre-empted or interrupted regular programing in order to broadcast his press conference. But The View considered Melania's FOX interview much more important for the opening Hot Topics slot.

Most of the show was pre-empted for the Adam's indictment for the East coast. There was just five minutes or so of the Melania interview, and then it came back for Sykes interview - and that was that.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | September 26, 2024 10:32 PM |
That's not an excuse. They've been preempted many times before and they will discuss the story that's pre-empting them. A hot topic is supposed to be what's hot.
This show has been weirdly out of sync with what's trending on social media and everywhere else in recent years. Quite a few topics they will either ignore or discuss it days, or even weeks after it trended.
The West Wing segment was taped. They should have bumped that and put the Adams story with Melania's interview.
Amateurish. Barbara Walters must be rolling over in her grave.

R59, that's Hazel Nell Dukes. She's 92 and was at one time a president of the NAACP. She was yelling at the crowd to shut up. Such is the state of our society in 2024.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | September 26, 2024 11:22 PM |
Why was Hazel yelling at the crowd to 'shut up' ? it was an outdoor press conference that attracted a crowd of reporters - what was she expecting ?
by Anonymous | reply 61 | September 26, 2024 11:55 PM |
In the crowd there were some very vocal opponents of the mayor who were yelling at him to resign. One man in particular was calling him a disgrace to black people. Just another day in the city.
Here's Mother Duke's segment.

So those at the press conference yelled out at him and showed their disgust (as they have every right to, as he represents them) and if they want to yell 'resign' and other comments, so be it. She yells 'shut up!' to them ? It was a press conference just for his supporters ?
Oh what a circus !
by Anonymous | reply 63 | September 27, 2024 2:31 AM |
Absolutely nothing on Mayor Adams again today. Just a dismissive throwaway line from Joy about him pre-empting them yesterday. Super immature line delivery, Joy.
Alyssa tried but could only use him as a quick example, along with other politicians who seek office in order to fill their pockets. This was their lead Hot Topic which was centered around Melania (again, how relevant) and Trump monetizing the Presidency.
I suppose the fact the three major networks made this their number two story behind a quick update of Helene means nothing to this politically centric show.

Ana has a good looking special on Latino Voters
Great insights.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | September 30, 2024 1:09 AM |
Betcha tomorrow on 'The View', Whoopi will call Kris Kristofferson her 'friend' who always had the best weed at his house and say he was one of the original bad asses in Hollywood.
Sara Haines and AFG will just stare at her with smiles (since they don't know who he is),
Ana will mention a Cuban singer / actor whom she's friends with, and Sunny will subtly suggest he was a racist, somehow.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | September 30, 2024 2:34 AM |
R78, they won't even bother. It will be just another throwaway as they break for commercial. Just like they did with Dame Maggie on Friday. Unless Whoopi has some sort of ass-kissing photos of her with Kris then by all means it will garner segment time.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | September 30, 2024 3:16 AM |
Whoopi was in a bad mood today. Did someone take her weed away?
by Anonymous | reply 80 | September 30, 2024 8:16 PM |
R80 Whoopi was sick. She sounded terrible, and looked terrible. Maybe she has 'the Covid' ?
I won't be surprised if she's off the rest of the week.

Whoopi was on fire today - and I have to agree with her: the media needs to stop calling Trump "Mr. President". He hasn't had that title in four years.

They never mentioned Kris Kristofferson's death over the past weekend. I wonder if they will mention John Amos' death ?
by Anonymous | reply 84 | October 2, 2024 12:48 PM |
I went to their YouTube channel, and they had a separate clip for the big memoriam for Dame Maggie. It is 20 seconds in length. Their priorities are so screwed sometimes. Because a Reddit Rip-off segment on who the bride uninvited from her wedding is so much more relevant and timelier than the passing of one of the greats in the industry.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | October 2, 2024 2:48 PM |
I’m sure Whoopi will Whoopisplain about John Amos’s career achievements. Sunny will then remind us about Good Times’ and representation of black families in the ‘70s. Joy will then joke about how he’s having “good times” up in heaven now. Alyssa will mention his stint on The West Wing and Sara will smile politely. If Ana was there she’d regale us about how she once attended an event with Gloria Estefan, John Amos, and Pope John Paul II.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | October 2, 2024 2:51 PM |
I can’t wait to hear them discuss the debate. Alyssa and Sara will give a fair analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate’s performance. Sunny and Joy will rant about Vance lying while overpraising Walz. Whoopi will offer dumb platitudes to cover for the fact she couldn’t be bothered to actually watch the debate.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | October 2, 2024 3:48 PM |
LOL, spot on, R87. I enjoy listening to Alyssa and Sara's take on a topic because I feel they have the ability to see both sides and to fairly assess and critique each topic with an open mind.
I'm so tired of these impassioned idiots who believe if you are not in lockstep with your party's platform, you're a traitor of the highest order.

Raven Symone will be 39 in a couple of months. Poor woman really 'peaked' in her maturity at the age of 16, and really hasn't grown beyond that. It was such a frustrating interview to follow along with, due to her (obvious) ADHD, and the fact that she can't stay focused on what's being said.
And that poor creature Jason Wu - looked so uncomfortable being there trying to hold a Garage Sale.

Someone needs to tell them to turn down the damn music during their VYD segments. You can't hear what they're trying to shill. They need to dump that cuckold Brian and bring someone in who knows how to produce a show and wrangle these out-of-control egos.

R92 You actually watch the VYD segments ?
by Anonymous | reply 96 | October 3, 2024 12:48 PM |
R96, I usually watch it live so I see the VYD. I do, however, mute the volume when VYD starts. I used to lower the volume, and it was just like background noise. With the new season they start the segment with very loud background music, and it runs throughout the segment.
As for today's show, Joy made a mistake using a Trump quote in the wrong context in reference to Pence. No one corrected her. And why does LeVar Burton merit two segments? Yes, please do talk about Sunny's ancestors being slave holders and slave traders. Yeah, sure. So painful yet she's laughing.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | October 3, 2024 4:54 PM |
Has Sunny paid reparations to the descendants of her ancestor’s slaves yet?
by Anonymous | reply 98 | October 3, 2024 5:05 PM |
The first thing Sunny said when she revealed her ancestors owned slaves was that people should stop pestering her about reparations because she still believed in them. And then she hasn't brought reparations up again since.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | October 3, 2024 5:07 PM |
And she won't bring up reparations should Kamala get elected.
It's been fun watching her go from someone who defended "Defund the Police" and constantly brought up the true, racist overtones of the US law system to someone who now cheers prosecutors and boasts about our legal nation.
I have no idea where she stands on anything with the exception of abortion, which she has always been against, even in cases of rape and incest. Charming, right?
by Anonymous | reply 100 | October 3, 2024 5:17 PM |

I clicked on the podcast with Joy instead of today’s episode by mistake. I stayed with it. Joy is more entertaining on her own, sharper too. Hard to believe she’s 82, it’s like she stopped changing at 55.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | October 3, 2024 10:41 PM |
Joy celebrated her 82nd birthday today, and guest Nathan Lane (he must be the new 'go to gay guy' when they have no other guest to fill the seat, taking over for Mario Cantone) was there to celebrate with the women. For her birthday, he brought her an older male stripper named 'Jake' who looked to be a reject from 'Chippendaeles' from the 1980s, had a terrible chest / torso (wasn't muscular or defined at all). His dancing consisted of him flopping on the stage like a seal. It was awful - and he did an encore at the end.
Sara was giddy and actually got out of her chair and hid behind Ana, as though she was 13 (she's 47). No wonder they got her dancing female basketball players for her birthday a few weeks ago.
To finish the celebration, they held an 'auction' to raise money for Joy's favorite charity (a woman's shelter), and what they auctioned was crap they had lying around their homes. And I do mean crap. They followed that with Oprah's favorite lapdog Adam Glassman shilling more skin care shit in their View Your Deal birthday edition - for Joy.
No birthday cake for Joy - just a horrible male stripper. (If you're going to hire one, hire a gay millennial guy to do the job).
by Anonymous | reply 105 | October 5, 2024 2:43 AM |

R106 I usually do the same (unless I'm really interested in the guest later in the show, which is rare). However, I stay tuned to see if Nathan Lane would talk about 'Monsters' (he did), and how they were going to celebrate Joy's birthday.

So candidate Kamala Harris is scheduled to be on the show this week. Let's see:
1. Sunny kiss her ass, as she auditions for a role in her administration. I say she wears the 'short blond wig' we see in the opening clips, and even the dark green suit.
2. How many times Whoopi manages to mispronounce her name.
3. AFG auditioning as well, reminding Harris she already has four years experience in the WH.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | October 6, 2024 3:17 PM |
I guarantee Sunny mentions that she and Kamala were part of the same sorority. She seems obsessed with this completely meaningless connection. And never brings it up about anyone else besides Kamala.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | October 6, 2024 3:59 PM |
I have always wondered - since Sunny is a big proponent of HBCUs, and graduated from one herself, why didn't either of her children follow in her footsteps ?

R110. white envy.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | October 6, 2024 9:14 PM |
R111 Maybe, I doubt she would ever admit her kids have white envy, though.
by Anonymous | reply 112 | October 6, 2024 9:24 PM |
R112, I was referring to Sunny. She personifies the term Helicopter Parent so I would think she would be deeply involved in her kids' choice of university.
As for white envy maybe it's more about emulation. Years ago I saw a 60 Minutes report where they interviewed wealthy black people. One woman said she sent her daughter to the orthodontist for braces (not that she needed the correction) because when she was a kid all of the white kids whose parents were considered affluent wore braces. I suppose it's an individual's personal perception/world view of what they consider to be some weird benchmark for wealth and prestige.
Today's show is dragging and disjointed as usual. It's comforting to know Matt Gutman still has the ability to highlight and gel his hair during wartime.
Kamala tomorrow. I suppose Ana, ass-kisser extraordinaire will be present. I wonder if she'll bring up her appearance at the DNC while Sunny sits there with that plastered smile on her face.
VYD.
by Anonymous | reply 113 | October 7, 2024 4:59 PM |
I guess they're running low on guests who can kiss Whoopi's ass this week. Whoopi had to bring up the fact she was nominated for an Academy Award twice, and that her mother showed up the first time, not the second time - and the cohosts had to kiss her ass over this.
Since they haven't had any guests kissing her ass for over a week, I have a feeling Whoopi threatened to to be a 'no show' this week if producer Brian Teta didn't arrange something for this morning.
by Anonymous | reply 114 | October 7, 2024 10:03 PM |
In light of the death of Cissy Houston, Whoopi has less than 17 hours to practice saying her name correctly and to concoct a story about their special connection.
We probably won’t have to worry about her mispronouncing Kamala tomorrow, as I am sure she will default to calling her Madam Vice President.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | October 7, 2024 10:17 PM |
Whoopi finally learned to pronounce Kamala’s name just in time for her to appear. However, she still doesn’t understand how health insurance works and wants the money back if she doesn’t use it. As if she needs it. Sunny also went on a long rant about elder care and how her mother was rejected due to a pre-existing condition. Again, as if Sunny can’t just pay for her mother’s health care on her own.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | October 8, 2024 4:51 PM |
Sunny “defund the police” Hostin also sang Kamala’s praises as a moderate and former law enforcement. Then Whoopi tried to take credit for the idea of a cabinet that includes the other party. These two are fucking delusional.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | October 8, 2024 4:55 PM |
Kamala's doing well. Whoopi introduced her as the next POTUS. When she finally referred to her by name she called her "Camela."
Sunny creamed her panties (handmade in Ghana of locally sourced materials) Their motto: No whitey will ever make our panties. She looked like a 12-year-old meeting Taylor Swift for the first time. How are they such great friends if they've never met? Riddle me that one, Sunny.
Sunny doesn't ask questions she recites tomes. Get on with it and stop trying to impress your (non) future boss. She fucked up her first question which she had most likely been practicing for days.
Alyssa on the border.
Ana acting like they're buds. Fuck off with your incessant need to be one of the in kids.
Whoopi enamored. Stop embarrassing yourself. She's batting her eyelashes at this poor woman. Good thing she's not doing a Groucho with her eyebrows cause you know.
Whoopi embarrassing herself once again speaking on health insurance. This woman never learns. NEVER. Kamala being nice and trying to explain to the developmentally disabled Whoopi she's speaking on Medicare.
Whoopi's basking in the light. She didn't have sex with you, Whoopi.
Ana with her rehearsed punchlines. So natural yet not really. "The only thing Donald Trump can hold is a grudge and a golf club." How much did she pay for that joke.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | October 8, 2024 4:56 PM |
Sunny, who turns 56 in a few weeks, considers herself part of the 'sandwich' generation where she's raising her kids and soon will face the fact she has to take care of aging parents ?
Her two kids are 19 and 22, out of the house and away at college. They are young adults - she already raised them, whether she can admit it or not. They're on their own, lady. By the time her mother Rosa Beza - who is only 15 or 16 years older than Sunny - needs her help in healthcare, Sunny's kids will be raising their own families.

R120, I looked it up and it says they were legally required to show the ad because "as a paid political advertisement, the Network is required to carry it, unaltered, by federal law."
I'm glad I didn't see it. I was walking back into the room and only saw the disclaimer at the end. Randall Terry is responsible for this ad. He is the Constitution party's presidential candidate for 2024. He's also an infamous anti-abortion activist.

Today she fucked up Riley Keough's book title and then she had one fucking job when it came to introducing Sheryl Lee Ralph, and she fucked up her name. Now all I hear when she speaks is Rochester. I'm sorry but she is so ridiculously unfit for this job, and she seems to get worse by the week. Fuck off into retirement and let your leech family support your ass for a change.
I remember when Barbara was at the table everyone would be on their best behavior. People used to say they liked it when she was off because it allowed the co-hosts a bit more freedom. Fuck that. Look at Whoopi with Barbara then look at how out of control she is today with the help of that cuckold Brian. Brain dead pothead health insurance connoisseur who always brings the discussion to a grinding halt in order to tell us shit we learned in the 3rd grade.

I like the fact that they kept holding up the Lisa Marie Presley / Riley Keough book cover WITHOUT Oprah's logo on the cover (in last night's interview, Oprah showed the audience the covers have her 'Oprah's Book Club' logo on the front). I thought it was interesting that they asked her mostly the same questions Oprah did last night (on her pre-recorded interview which aired) which Keough already answered in detail - couldn't they think of anything else to ask her ?
And why did they talk to her like she was 15 years old ? She's a 35 year old woman. Don't be so condescending towards her.
As for Sheryl Lee Ralph - I guess Yvette Nicole Brown is no longer the 'go to' Black actress on the show when no one else is booked ?

You must watch the first segment of today's show. Trump vs The Ladies of The View. He went after them at one of his rallies. Kind of cringy when "dumb" Sunny had a written "legal notice" that read like a stand-up routine. Whoopi didn't care for his accusation he only hired her one time. No rebuttal when he said Whoopi told him years ago, she'd vote for him if he ran for POTUS. Heh.
Joy cracking jokes because she was left out of the tirade clip. Sara being interrupted as she tells them she's the middle child and had to yell for her parent's attention. LET HER SPEAK!
Trevor Noah. Sorry but I really don't care for these "political experts" in the form of foreign comedians (like John Oliver) schooling us on our country.
FAIR WARNING: THEY SHOW THE ABORTION AD AT THE END OF THE SHOW BEFORE THEY COME BACK FOR THE FINAL GOODBYE. I saw the black screen with the white disclaimer and said nope,

Yes, R137, but on the bright side Whoopi pronounced her name correctly today. I was only half listening during the Noah interview so could someone tell me what sage advice she was giving him during the interview. He was very patient and also very polite in allowing her to spout off on his time. He also had a look on his face as if he didn't know what the hell she was talking about but what else is new with Whoopi's supposed pearls of wisdom.

It's interesting she went on to have an award-winning acting career when she started out as a stand-up comedienne. Mike Nichols made her career when he took her act to Broadway and as they say the rest is stoner history.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | October 10, 2024 7:05 PM |
The crowd at a Trump casino in Atlantic City was not her people. It sold out because they recognized her from movies. They left the theatre because they expected the Sister Act character with some Motown covers, some patter, a nice sparkly dress.
Did you see Trump pausing (twice!!) before calling Sunny a woman. 'That is one dumb (pause) That is one dumb (pause) woman' He wanted to say the n word or the c word. It would be glorious to see him beaten by a black woman. Notice also 2 empty chairs behind him.
by Anonymous | reply 144 | October 10, 2024 8:43 PM |
R144, I think he wanted the audience to think he was holding back from calling her a bitch. He should call Whoopi and ask her to give him some timing lessons on line delivery. He pulled the same stunt with Meghan Kelly and it went over big with his supporters. This time it didn't pack the same punch.
Sunny paused during her little speech today, assuming she was going to receive a laugh. It never came so she powered on.

WOW ! Whoopi didn't give up in 'schooling' Trevor about his own book, and the meaning of 'Because I said so...' when a parent scolds a child. For God's sake - it's his book! Let him say whatever he wants about it and it's meaning. (Even Sunny chimed in and agreed with what he was saying).
Then again, she was probably angry because the interview was ending, and he had yet to tell her he only became a comedian because of her, and her performance in 'Ghost', for which she won an Oscar - lest we forget.
by Anonymous | reply 147 | October 10, 2024 10:23 PM |
The show is so much better when Ana is not on. After November, they need to get rid of her. Pack her off to Florida once and for all. Let her try her failed attempts as an aspiring comedienne at 'open mic' night at a Miami bar - not on the show.

Sunny's "rebuttal" was cringeworthy. And the smugness too. You can tell she thought she knocked it out of the park, but it was too long and too "Look at me, aren't I cute? to be effective. She's become as insufferable as McCain.
Whoopi's IDGAF attitude and honesty was much more refreshing and biting. And most of all, quick.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | October 11, 2024 1:24 AM |
R148 - I've always hated Ana - she's as fake as you can get. She carried the water for Republicans for DECADES - smeared every one she could - told hundreds of lies as she positioned herself to be the Latina spokeswoman of the Republican party.
No one ever calls her out on this because they need 2 Republicans on the panel - I guess to offset 2 dems and an Independent?
She supposedly became a Republican because Reagan was against the Sandinistas in Nicaragua and so was her family. So communism=Dems in her way of thinking - like a lot of Latinos from countries with similar political problems.
Reality is that she came from a wealthy political family in Nicaragua and they had to flee the country. She never thought that maybe her family and the system in Nicaragua needed vast reforms and that her family was part of the problem.

But if all of your points are against your own party - how the fuck do you still vote and say you're a Republican? I don't get it. Opportunist.

You can tell Sunny worked all night on her 'defense' to make sure she got the humor in as well as her defensive closing arguments. She must've practiced saying this all morning long, before she walked into the courtroom to address the jurors - I mean 'onto the set to address the audience' - and FLOPPED big time.
The jokes didn't land, her defense arguments were boring. I honestly think she lost this one to Trump.
She should have stuck with her "I give it no air" tactic as she did with Janet Jackson's statement about Harris not being Black a few weeks ago. If she dismissed it that way yesterday, she would have come out much further ahead of Trump.

Asuncion is in bitch mode this morning. She didn’t look pleased when Sara dared to speak.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | October 11, 2024 4:21 PM |
Sunny’s behavior today is disgusting. Trump recently said he’d blame Jewish voters if he lost, which was naturally met with horror by most people. Yet Sunny sits there pointing a finger at Latino men who aren’t voting for Kamala as if that’s any different. And of course she defends black men who aren’t turning out for Kamala the way they should be by throwing other groups under the bus. She’s a fucking racist.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | October 11, 2024 4:24 PM |
Latino men need to show up for Harris, so where’s the lie?
by Anonymous | reply 162 | October 11, 2024 4:56 PM |
R161, I especially enjoyed Sunny Blacksplaining the black family matriarchy then in the same breath she flips and uses her Latina accent to lecture Hispanic men. Racial Whiplash. I'm so sick of her acting like she is the spokesperson for an entire race and ethnicity.
Ana interjected while Sara was talking, Sara shut her down. Right after that Joy said something and Ana tried to throw a wrench in the works and an annoyed Joy shut her down. I wonder if their patience is wearing thin with her constant interjections. She also hijacks topics and goes off book. She tries to moderate on occasion, but I think they've finally put a stop to that.

Sunny seemed petulant during most of the Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna segment. I thought she was looking at her phone until it was time to speak, as she kept her head down.
The two gents were charming and engaging.
Sunny and Ana need to learn the art of conversation and how to make one’s POV known without being condescending. Whoppi I fear, is beyond help.

Get the fuck out of here.
by Anonymous | reply 167 | October 11, 2024 9:52 PM |
Sunny says "I don't believe Black Men are the problem. Black men are used to matriarchy.".
Has Sunny not been paying attention to every poll that has been rolling out the past six weeks in which 26% of Black men under 50 are voting for Trump ? And 23% of Black Men over 50 are not supporting Harris ? The NAACP has also come up with these poll numbers.
I guess they've got issues with 'black matriarchy'. Too bad McCain is no longer there - she would've corrected her.
by Anonymous | reply 168 | October 11, 2024 10:01 PM |
Sunny did the same shit back in 2020 after polls said that black male Trump voters had increased from 2016. She said she didn't believe it, yet always made it a mention to bring up the 53% of white women who voted for Trump.
I agree they all should be called out. So why does Sunny continue to make excuses for one group?
by Anonymous | reply 169 | October 11, 2024 10:04 PM |
It's not both sidesing. It's about not scapegoating particularly identity groups, which is as always Sunny's MO.
by Anonymous | reply 170 | October 11, 2024 10:05 PM |
"Sara, you are sunshine and unicorns and puppy dogs, and that is great..."
In other words, Sunny told Sara she's a naïve idiot on national television - and doesn't belong in a political conversation. Too bad Sara didn't defend herself and say 'better than being a hypocritical racist like you, Sunny'.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | October 11, 2024 10:23 PM |
Well 14% of LGBT voted for Trump in 2020 - so there are idiots in every group.
That's around 1 in 7, which is appalling. That's too many.

"Well, Sunny, at least I'm not a cunt like you," said Sara in my dreams.
by Anonymous | reply 173 | October 11, 2024 11:19 PM |
I don't like Sara - she's always sitting on the fence (Ms. I'm an Independent Voter) - I find her boring, not funny and never very insightful. I have no idea how she got that job except they needed a blonde Midwestern looking mom.
Sunny would be so much more likable if she wasn't so God damn full of herself. Her background isn't really THAT impressive and she's always stating I'm a Catholic - like that is supposed to mean something or be admirable. And she's so blinded, it took her YEARS to see a middle ground on abortion and that it's a personal choice. That shows a lack of empathy and critical thinking - particularly for a woman.
I have no idea why Alyssa Farah is sitting there - although I prefer her over the screeching Republican bitches they've had in the past.
by Anonymous | reply 174 | October 12, 2024 12:04 AM |
And now we know that Sara has DENSE BREASTS!
The pain, the pain.
by Anonymous | reply 175 | October 12, 2024 1:48 AM |
Dense breasts means a woman's mammograms won't detect cancer. It's a thing but nothing I'd want to hear about on morning televison. Was she hosting a segment on mamography or did she just volunteer this?
Whenever someone says "we need to have a national conversation on menopause or painful menstruation,: I always think "No, we don't," Have it with your doctor or your girlfriends. If it's something like an abnormally high rate of death among Black women delivering babies, that does merit national scrutiny. But not your cramps. Get a note from your doctor and deal. Sara, find a better mamography team. You certainly have the money to do it.
by Anonymous | reply 176 | October 12, 2024 2:16 AM |
For goodness' sake October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It's a female-centric show so quit bitching about Sara's breast density. The guest was a breast cancer oncologist. So of course they would discuss breast density.
R176, thanks for the input, Sunny. It's always about black women. Always.

Sunny hates Sara because she is an attractive, tall, fit, blonde, white woman and contrary to some opinions here is quite intelligent and capable of holding her own at the table.
You'll recall Sunny also went after Joy when they returned for their new season. Joy mentioned she had been on the show since its inception and Sunny (rather bitchily, I might add) made her correct her answer and insisted she say she was fired from the show. Joy blew if off, but I wonder if there are tensions mounting against the diva sect of Sunny and Ana. They really are becoming very unappealing type personalities.
by Anonymous | reply 185 | October 12, 2024 6:39 PM |
Sunny has always felt overlooked - I remember her complaining that she didn't get the same press release/announcement when she joined The View as someone else - I can't recall who.
Look - Sunny - you used to be a sidekick on Nancy Grace's show - nobody knew who you were despite having a few legal opinion interviews with some news orgs over the years.
She's the type that any criticism of her will be met with - I think you're just taken aback by what a confident Latina/Black woman LAWYER has to say. You wouldn't say the same thing to X? That's right - because X doesn't act like a condescending know-it-all bitch!
by Anonymous | reply 186 | October 12, 2024 6:51 PM |
I’ll never forget Sunny being outraged that Alan Dershowitz didn’t know she was a lawyer. As if he spends his life worrying about the educational backgrounds of daytime TV hosts.

If / when Harris gets in and doesn't find a position in her administration / staff for Sunny, there will be Hell to pay. I say she's angling for 'press secretary' or something judiciary. She's an empty nester now - she can move to Washington.

I remember that R186, it was written in her memoir. I also recall her complaining about the location of her dressing room when she was promoted to permanent co-host. As if to say she merited a better dressing room closer to set. You may want to get that ego in check, newbie.
I actually read her memoir because I wanted to try to better understand her. After reading it I disliked her even more. She comes across as a very petty and vindictive person. She may be one of those people who have huge self-inflated egos in order to compensate for low self-esteem issues. Then again, she is an only child, and my initial impression of her was that of an only child who was told by her parents from day one that she was the brightest and the prettiest little girl ever. Whatever she is she's too damn sanctimonious and condescending for me.

Sunny has that halting way of speaking that is hard to listen to.
Sarah, on the other had, has few umms, uhhhs, etc. She has a much smoother delivery.
That refrigerator is large. That's not normal-sized. Ana's husband is very wealthy and can afford a refrigerator befitting of a wealthy man.

Sunny is an actress playing an attorney on the show. She's so ridiculous with her monotonous and self-important diatribes and as someone mentioned upthread, Joy and others have been (intentionally?) stepping on her big finish. "Let me finish." Well, finish already. And she won't let go even when Whoopi's there trying to go to break, she'll talk over her in order to finish another one of her sanctimonious, over long and over rehearsed speeches.
For the last time that is not a big fridge it's standard fare for today's kitchens.

by Anonymous | reply 195 | October 12, 2024 10:39 PM |
Good for you. R193. It doesn't mean you're in the majority. The majority is defined as the norm. This is the norm and if you took a good look at it, you'd realize it's not even a mega-sized refrigerator. I have an old Sub Zero that's still kicking which looks similar in size. It's tall but it's misleading because it does not have much depth. Your supposedly smaller fridge probably has deep shelves and holds the same number of items.
If she shows more of her kitchen in the future, you may see another refrigerator which could be specific to beverages. One may be for produce or various cheeses depending on temperature requirements. That's more specific to the size of her kitchen and obviously not specific to your apartment or townhouse or old house or box...

On MSNBC today, they brought up Sunny's ridiculous comment about 'Black men aren't the problem'. They had a black man who is head of Harris' campaign in one of the southern states (I believe Georgia) and practically laughed out loud when they played the clip of Sunny saying "Black men aren't the problem".
The guy then went to the new poll released this week (taken last weekend) showing an increase in Black men supporting Trump over Harris. It went from 26% - 30% as the election gets closer, and that we need to do everything we can over the next three weeks to bring this number down. (In comparison, in 2016 when Hillary was running, the number of black men supporting Trump was less than 10%, and in 2020 with Biden, it was less than 20%).
Not sure how Sunny can spin this as the election gets closer.

Wednesday, Oct. 16 – Mark Cuban, Kevin O’Leary and Daniel Lubetzky (cast, ABC’s “Shark Tank”)
Thursday, Oct. 17 – Stanley Tucci (actor, “Conclave”; author, "A Diary of Food, Family, Friends, Love, Loss”)
Friday, Oct. 18 – Eddie Redmayne (actor, “The Day of the Jackal”); “The View” celebrates Sunny Hostin’s Birthday
Why the fuck are they having Rosie Perez on Monday? I hope Whoopi does not become a talent agent when this gig finally blows up in her face because she has picked some of the worst co-hosts in The View's history. She has no eye, ear or feel for talent. Meghan McCain ring a bell?

R216, there were plenty of WOC and Hispanic commentators and journalists who were highly qualified that auditioned for The View. Yes, even Lauren Sanchez was at the table back in Barbara's era. That Rosie Perez was given the job tells you it was Whoopi pushing for her behind the scenes. Same goes for Raven and yes, because Whoopi liked and admired John McCain she pushed for Meghan.
I do recall Raven and Candace Cameron going at it one day while they were both auditioning that may have helped them both land the job. It was like an idiot teen sitcom version of Crossfire with two out-of-work child actors.

It was reported that reality star Kate Gosselin ('member her ?) was the top candidate to take the seat at the table before Rosie Perez did in 2014. This was the second time in the show's history that they wanted Gosselin on the show (not sure what ABC saw in her). When Rosie O'Donnell found out Gosselin was going to join, she supposedly threatened not to return to the show (she didn't want the show to have anything to do with reality stars - and made that clear to the press). Less than two weeks before the season was to premiere, ABC dropped Gosselin (before she signed on the dotted line) and the search began to fill the seat. Perez ended up taking the seat.

[quote] Wednesday, Oct. 16 – Mark Cuban, Kevin O’Leary and Daniel Lubetzky (cast, ABC’s “Shark Tank”)
Fantastic! Usually, Barbara Corcoran visits with Cuban and O'Leary, since they are the co-producers. But having co-producers Cuban and O'Leary there is still fantastic news because...
As I say every season, this will give Sunny the opportunity to put on her 'serious' face, and ask them - as co-producers - why they never, ever have an American Woman of Color guest hosting on the panel and making offers for a small business. They have white American women sitting in the chairs, but never a Latina American or an African American woman (the only women of color who have sat in the chair are from the UK). We all know how important this is to Sunny - so please, Sunny, ask them !
Sunny needs to suggest: Beyonce, Tyra Banks, Rhianna, JLo, Janet Jackson, Vanessa Williams, Beverly Johnson - the list is endless for Sunny to suggest in her serious tone and pursed lips. Let's see if she has the guts to do it this time.
by Anonymous | reply 220 | October 14, 2024 12:31 AM |
Is that true, R220? Whenever they have this crew on, I turn it off or mute it. I may watch this segment if Sunny goes into her Tourette's "you're a racist!!" mode.
"...serious tone and pursed lips" It's so true, lol.
by Anonymous | reply 221 | October 14, 2024 1:14 AM |
What's true is she NEVER asks them why they don't have American women of color on as guest hosts, making deals with entrepreneurs. NEVER - even though she has the chance right in front of her with the co-producers sitting there. If you don't ask them, who are the decision makers, who do you ask ? That's why I'm hoping she grows a pair of golden ovaries and dares to ask them this time around.
Of course, she won't. She's all bark and no bite - as she has proven over and over again.

STFU Sunny. Another Kamala is perfect and running the most perfect campaign ever speech.
She interrupts Sara. Again. She refuses to hear any sort of criticism about the Biden admin. She's trying to Sunnysplain her fuck-up FOX News on a loop question to Kamala. She cuts off Alyssa who actually has some interesting points on fighting Trump. And someone FINALLY corrected her when she stated for the umpteenth time Kamala will have an R in her CABINET not her "CANDIDATE."
I cannot even imagine what a delusional and obstinate "I'm right you're wrong!" type of person she is off the air. And when someone opposes her opinion, she tries to talk over them. She truly is the personification of the term head in the sand, not to mention an exhausting know-it-all.
Rosie Perez says Latinos can change the election. Sunny must be seething. Now I get to be schooled by Rosie Perez as she fumbles through her political talking points. "Tear down the wall!" Huh? Latina Politics for Dummies. Please go back to talking about boxing. Her segment should make it clear why she was completely inept as a co-host. She spent the majority of her segment on passionate pleas for her people to vote so there were mere seconds left for her to talk about her new series. Billy (lay off the fillers) Crystal must be thrilled. Bonus: They cut Whoopi off when she was going to break.
VYD or don't.
Abortion ad go away.

Sunny was absolutely pissed off today with her cohosts. She had daggers in her eyes with each of them - I wouldn't be surprised if she takes the rest of the week off.
So now Sunny can't say 'Black men aren't the problem' anymore with all the pushback she has gotten from the media this weekend, so she will now try to blame the MEDIA ?
In a nice way, she kept reminding Sunny that she was Kamala's "October Surprise" and has since tanked her campaign. I wanted her to say straight up, "If it wasn't for your 'gotcha question' about how her administration will be different from Biden's, her poll numbers wouldn't be fuckin' tied with Trump's right now!" If Kamala loses, Sunny will never live it down - her question is getting more media attention than anything else Kamala has been asked since July.
Kudos to Alyssa to keep steamrolling ahead when Sunny tries to cut her off. She ignores Sunny, doesn't respond to her ridiculous comments, and sides with Sara.
Anna took over the comedy for the show, made lame jokes about Trump's orange skin (because that never gets old with Anna, obviously) . Ba dump bump.
Thank You Rosie Perez for coming out and turning away from Sunny as you explained the importance of the Latino vote. You gave her a nice view of your back while you discussed everything Latina. And, you addressed everyone at the table about something at one point - but not Sunny. She sat there with a pursed pout.

I'm laughing that she thinks it's a huge win saying that the difference between Kamala and Biden is that Kamala will put a Republican in her cabinet. This is the same Sunny that for the last eight years has made it a point to constantly say that the Republican party as a whole supports racism, and never excused any voter or supporter of the Republican party. How many times she dragged Ana on the show for still being a Republican. Now because Kamala wants to reach across the aisle, it's suddenly okay to be a Republican.
She also needs to lay off the weight loss meds. She's looking haggard.
by Anonymous | reply 225 | October 14, 2024 11:40 PM |
Sunny will be there for her birthday on Friday you can count on that. She's reaching Star Jones wedding prep levels of insufferable with her ridiculous attitude lately. If Kamala loses Sunny will never admit to being at least partially responsible for that loss. An attorney is trained to never ask a question unless they know how it will be answered. Two attorneys staring at each other with no cohesive answer forthcoming. That's on you Sunny.
Another thing that bugs the shit out of me with this crew is the way they shut down any critical talk about the Biden admin. Yes, the US is doing far better with post-Covid inflation than the rest of the world, but people are still hurting. Between price gouging and collusion, prices across every sector and industry are through the roof. Alyssa always tries to make the point people are hurting financially yet she is always cut off at the pass. When Joy is on, she immediately interrupts her and starts naming Biden admin. accomplishments, although fine, these are not kitchen table issues. Whoopi does the same thing when Alyssa brings up financial strain on the average voter. She cuts her right off and starts saying ridiculous things only an out of touch idiot celebrity would say. As Clinton said in '92. It's the economy stupid. Discuss it.
I hope Kamala wins but if she doesn't, I will tune in just to see the stunned faces of Whoopi, Joy and Sunny. The other two will have a polite told you we should have discussed voter concerns in a head-on manner expression.

I love the way Whoopi blames the staff because she forgot to remove her eyeglasses before she walked out on set. She could have just quietly removed her glasses and started the damn show, yet she chose to verbalize her thoughts.
Just another example of her delusional celebrity ego overtaking her humility. Now heads will roll because the stoner forgot to remove her glasses, and none of the staff noticed before she walked out on set.

Funny how they hold Donald to account for him trying to recreate the Democratic love fests of Harris at the Dem Convention. His TV numbers are based on Democrats numbers, and somehow he is going to do another Republican Roll Call using the Dem model.
Like always, he has no ideas.
Look forward to his "rallies" turning into music fests.
Great way to get him to stop WEAVING.

R238 - but that single national spot is expensive. It's got to be what - $50k to $75k at that placement? So he has $250k to $400k per week to spend on this shit?
The network will gladly take that money but - it's a crazy waste of money.

R237, a comment from Reddit: " On the podcast today, Ana said she had tickets to see Taylor Swift in Miami on Sunday night and she could either miss Monday's show, fly in on a 6 AM flight, or not go to the concert. Brian said she would either have to miss the concert or fly in early because a big guest was going to be on and she couldn't miss the show. He said he couldn't say who it was yet. Any guesses? I'm thinking maybe Tim Walz, but that's only a guess. Or, maybe Liz Cheney. Of course, IMO Obama would be at the top of the list. Ana will likely fly in early, but they said they would work it out."
An almost 53-year-old woman name-dropping Taylor Swift and making sure everyone know she has tickets to her concert. That's Ana in an Ozempic-sized nutshell.
R238, maybe large donors or nonprofits (that's a laugh) like Right to Life are funding these ads. They know Terry hasn't a snowball's chance in hell of winning, but they may sway voters to the R side of the ballot box by showing these ads infinitum.

Questions about today's show...
Was it my eyes, or did Pharrell have all gold teeth in his mouth ?
Is Pharrell neurodivergent ? He sure comes across that way. I can't believe he's 51.
Why didn't Sunny bring up politics with this black man (he falls in the group of men in which 30% of Black Men Over 50 voting for Trump) ? Why didn't she ask who he's supporting and why ? Didn't she realize how much influence he has over other black men ?
Why was Joy so controlled and polite to Pharrell when he was praising God, and talking about his belief in God? Joy, the self-proclaimed Atheist, usually makes jokes about religious people / celebrities during Hot Topics and tells us time and time again she doesn't believe in God. Why didn't she tell him this ? Why didn't she smirk and make jokes about people who believe in God with him sitting next to her ? I doubt she'd sit there so politely and quietly if he was praising Trump. She'd certainly push back.

God I wanted to strangle Sunny today. She has ranted for YEARS that African Americans are the backbone of the Democratic Party. Now when Kamala isn't doing as well with black men as expected she rants how she'll still win with black men--completely ignoring the fact that she's not polling as well with that group as she should be. And don't even get me started on her comment about black culture being the US's number one export.

by Anonymous | reply 257 | October 16, 2024 4:49 PM |
R257, Trump already created that fiasco during his first (and hopefully only) term. He royally screwed small family farms who specialized in soybeans. You should read up on this and his incredible lack of bargaining skills. The Art of the Deal? No. I think his reasoning this time around is to make it too expensive to buy foreign goods thereby bringing manufacturing back to the states. So much can and will go wrong if this idea is ever implemented.
Sunny is mentally ill, and it has manifested in her "black" identity. She's also a fucking know-it-all who refuses to listen to any facts which disagree with her internal dialogue. I'm glad Joy and Alyssa pushed back to drive home the fact Kamala has less support among black men than Biden. Yes Sunny, black men are the problem.
Whoopi mispronounced Kamala's name AGAIN. "Camela." I hope she doesn't pronounce Annie as Ahh-nee during her MSG run.

Sunny decided to twist the truth again. The issue is 'black men and Harris' and she pulls out NYT stats that say 80% of Black People are supporting Harris. Fine Sunny - but we're talking Black MEN not Black People as a whole, and every stat across the board shows 30% of BLACK MEN are supporting Trump. Yes, Sunny - that's a problem and BLACK MEN are the problem. If half of those black men said they supported Harris, the polls for her would be much different - she wouldn't be tied with Trump.
Joy then pointed out that more BLACK PEOPLE supported Biden then they are Harris today, and Sunny brushed that off. Too bad Joy didn't continue with her research. The facts are that both Hillary and Biden had more black men supporting them this late in the season than Harris has right now - but Sunny wouldn't give anyone a chance to say that. Yes, Sunny - in this election, BLACK MEN are indeed the problem for Harris.

Then why the hell do they have those ridiculous Reddit questions taking up their precious segments? They've also wasted time on Melania's book and items she's hawking. What they have to do is spend time discussing Kamala's policies in detail.
Joy also needs to understand the more she (literally) yells about Trump the more people will tune her out. She sounds like an old, unhinged grandma every time she starts with her Trump rants. Everyone in the world knows Trump. Concentrate on Kamala.

Kamala Harris brought the people to “The View.” The Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate appeared on the chat show last Tuesday, October 8, averaging 3.143 million viewers — which gave “The View” its most-watched telecast since February 15, 2021.
Per those Nielsen numbers (supplied by ABC News), that helped “The View” win the week of October 7 in total viewers (2.597 million) — up 12% from last year’s 2.316 million during the similar week. It’s the fifth week in a row that “The View” has been up vs. 2023, and it repped the show’s most-watched week in more the two and a half years (since the week of March 28, 2022).
Among its rival daytime network talk and news shows, “The View” beat the third hour of NBC’s “Today” (1.943 million viewers), “Today with Hoda & Jenna” (1.265 million) and “NBC News Daily” (1.265 million), as well as CBS’ “The Talk” (1.184 million).
Also last week, “The View” was up week-to-week in total viewers (up 6% to 2.597 million vs. 2.449 million), women 25-54 (up 7% to 192,000 vs. 180,000) and women 18-49 (up 9% to 138,000 vs. 127,000).
“The View” stop was part of a media blitz by Harris that included “60 Minutes,” “The Howard Stern Show,” “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” and the podcast “Call Her Daddy.”

Sunny didn't seem like she was enjoying her birthday celebration. She looked rather disappointed.
For the other hosts, they have live performances by their favorite singers (Whoopi, Alyssa, Sara - Joy never wants any of that for her birthday). For Sunny, they pulled in a stoned DJ from 'The Bronx' who looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but up on that scaffolding. I also noticed this season they don't roll out a birthday cake any more (or birthday cupcakes). No more food at the celebration.
Whoopi's birthday is in a couple of weeks (November 13) which is a Wednesday, so they will all be there. Let's see if they go all out with her and have a live performer, or if they give her a shit-ass celebration like they did for Sunny. And if they have a spectacular event for Whoopi, there's no way Sunny can cry 'racism'.

She's such an embarrassment for this prestigious ABC News division show who are so dedicated to up-to-the-minute political news they designated two full segments for VYD and some weird audience promotion which I muted.

I believe they dropped Alyssa's cake last year as they were prepping to bring it out. Maybe that's when they decided enough is enough.

[quote] I don't know how much they make on these in-show product segments - but it's gotten out of control.
They make million$ each season with this 'VYD' garage sale. Which is why they tell you to 'go to their site' and buy the products at 50% off - for each item they sell through their site, they get a percentage of the sales. It adds up - and it's a cash cow for them. They would be stupid not to offer it (as much as I hate it).
[quote]I know Whoopi made a big deal about her cake when she first started on the show. She loved Sylvia Weinstock's concoctions and promoted her on the show.
I remember when Rosie was on they used to get their cakes / cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery in Manhattan. I remember they said their business exploded thanks to Rosie and 'The View'. The show had them on for years after that - wonder why they ended their relationship with them ?
[quote]Maybe I'm biased - but Walz is doing great.
I proudly voted in early-voting in my state this weekend, and cast my vote for Harris / Walz. As much as I have a new respect and admiration for Harris (more than I have in the past three years, so unimpressed with her), I must be honest - there is a big part of me who wishes Walz was the Presidential candidate. What a genuine, honest, impressive candidate he is.
[quote] Sunny is not on today. I'm wondering if one of the stipulations for the Walz appearance was to keep Sunny the fuck away from him. She and her question to Kamala became the right's viral clip on a loop. Good going, Sunny.
As I said in other threads - who'd have thought Sunny would be Kamala's "October Surprise" ? Walz wasn't going to risk being subject to that .
by Anonymous | reply 309 | October 21, 2024 10:21 PM |
R309 - yeah, we know that it creates a good chunk of money - but for whom?
To be fair - they could be doing this because of all the political ads that are being bought in the weeks before the election. It may be a way to get their advertisers on to the air in certain metros where the ad space is being clogged up with political ads.
TV stations HAVE to run political ads and they start off at low rates - lower than what advertisers would pay - although they can go up if the other campaigns are willing to spend more.
So being completely optimistic, maybe it's a temporary way to get in the ads - and it gets them primed to continue through the holiday season.
by Anonymous | reply 310 | October 21, 2024 10:28 PM |
R310 For whom ? For the network. How the network allocates the money is through each division it sees fit (I'm sure a good percentage goes to the 'news division' which then spends it on the show) . I wouldn't be surprised if the money ABC got over the past few seasons footed most of the bill to move the show into their new studio.
Quite honestly, I have never seen any of these businesses on VYD advertise on national TV. I'm not sure if they're making up air time with them because of the political ads - most of the ads I have seen during a regular season of The View are Big Pharma ads (pushing medications for diseases and illnesses no one has ever heard of), car insurance and Vivica Fox for 'preventive car repairs' - and none of those advertisers are giving away their products at 50% off on VYD.
by Anonymous | reply 311 | October 21, 2024 10:49 PM |
R311 - true - but 60% of ad spots are national and 40% local. I was just throwing out a theory. We agree that it's a cash cow - but I doubt that individual show's revenue are distributed thoughout the network.
In any case - they're probably priming the pump for the holiday buying. People start buying for Christmas in October - and their target audience are the largest purchasers for a household, so why not?
The advertisers will see if they're getting enough sales / profit from this to see if it works. It's probably hit or miss, which is good for them because they can rotate in more suckers - I mean advertisers - to get those spots in the hope it connects with the viewers.
The Laura Geller segments last week were crazy - that single sponsor shit cost a LOT - plus Laura was on there herself.

JFC, Joy stop browbeating people to vote for Kamala. People are going to do what they're going to do. She sounds like an off-the-rails grandmother which I suppose she is.
Whoopi bringing the conversation to a dead halt yet again with another You Learned This in First Grade speech. She should have taught kindergarten but then those kids would have been incessantly rolling their eyes at her. I'm not so sure if that would have been good for their little developing eyes to endure.
Whoopi is blinded by the light, so she throws another hissy fit then does her best Stevie Wonder impression. She's such a grouchy old prima donna who is becoming a grade A bitch with each passing day.
Let's spend segment time on Trump's cock size remark about Arnold Palmer. Everyone knows what he's about you're not changing any minds with your outrage.
Anna Kendrick.
John Grisham.
Another wasted segment on some weird cash giveaway. Barbara Walters is rolling over in her grave as the ABC News division's The View tries to emulate a Univision game show.

Im so tired of Sunny and I'm pro-life because I'm Catholic. Sorry - that's just intellectual dishonesty - I have to believe this because my church tells me. A lot of Catholics are pro-choice.
I hate this 'you don't have to tell anyone who you voted' - and not addressing the bigger issue - why are you going to get so much flack for voting your conscience?
The scare tactics among the right - also applies to its own followers. That cult shit has to be called out and addressed.

Sunny’s sooo Catholic that she doesn’t believe in abortion but not so Catholic that she she’s supposedly on board with gay marriage. She’s such a hypocrite. I guarantee that if Paloma got knocked up, Sunny would be first in line at the abortion clinic with her.

Stop with the Catholic shit. These are AMERICAN Catholics, who can support Nazis, abortion and re marriage fucking. This is what has happened to Christianity. It has absorbed the culture and has had the transubstantiation rejected.
If Sunny were a traditional Catholic, Trump calling the Host, the body of Christ, crackers, would have her apoplectic with disgust. But no.
Cafeteria Catholics.

Unlike the gaggle, a Harris win will be because of male voters, not women; men who voted for him in 2016, but are now fed up with him. But, of course, on The View, men are the sworn enemy, so they will never be acknowledged as being important to a Dem victory.

[quote]Im so tired of Sunny and I'm pro-life because I'm Catholic. Sorry - that's just intellectual dishonesty -
I don't see it as 'intellectual dishonesty' but as 'spiritual honesty' - there's a huge difference, and many Catholics (especially women) can relate. I am Catholic, and I know many Catholic females who see the issue the same way as Sunny: they personally don't believe in abortion due to their Catholic values, yet they are liberal enough to say their Catholic beliefs shouldn't be a law across the land. Same with other hot-topic issues (such as gay marriage); they may personally disagree with gay marriage, but they don't believe it should be outlawed. I think that's what Democracy is all about - believe what you want, but don't force those beliefs on your neighbor.
by Anonymous | reply 319 | October 22, 2024 10:22 PM |
R319 - no - It's the way she says it, like there is some intrinsic pride and superiority in being religious, specifically Catholic.
If the only reason why you have a position is because the Church tells you so, then you are intellectually dishonest because you are not developing a position based on reason and research -you're taking the position because someone else told you to.
The Catholic church was fine with abortion up until the late 19th century. Their shift was more of a business decision than moral one - and it's caused undue pain and suffering throughout the world - particularly Latin America.
Why keep that position and not hold other positions of the Catholic Church if you're so Catholic? It's hypocrisy - and a religious position has no basis for government or social policy. So even bringing up being pro-life because you're Catholic in a public discussion is dangerous and dishonest.
by Anonymous | reply 320 | October 22, 2024 10:38 PM |
Let me also add 2 things:
1) She's not actually pro-life - she's pro-choice as evidenced from what's gone on the past year with the recent changes. She herself may not get an abortion - but that's being pro-choice.
2) To say "I'm pro-life" is to use the language from anti-abortion groups - the ones causing all of this mess in the first place - which she is against.
She's got this hard-on for saying she's pro-life because she's a Catholic and it makes her look like a complete idiot based on her pro-choice views and policy she wants for the country.
Not having an abortion is a choice - it's not pro-life, which wants to restrict all abortions. Pro-life is not having the option.
by Anonymous | reply 321 | October 22, 2024 10:47 PM |
R319. Sunny would make pig-calling sound superior. It's just who she is. As for your assertion she's being intellectually dishonest, that's your perception. She follows the laws and tenets of her faith and abortion is not allowed in the Catholic faith. She is allowed to voice her personal opinion on this matter, and she is also experienced enough to talk about the separation of church and state. I don't understand why you have an issue with this. I think you have an issue with organized religion. More specifically the Catholic church. Lastly, screw you for making me defend Sunny.
by Anonymous | reply 322 | October 23, 2024 1:10 AM |
R322 you seem to have spoken to the wrong person. I've said about the same as you. I never said she was 'intellectually dishonest' - that was another poster.
by Anonymous | reply 323 | October 23, 2024 1:14 AM |
R322 - Yes - any gay person SHOULD have an issue with the Catholic Church. But again - when it comes to government policy discussion, your religion's take has nothing to do with it.
Being religious is to be intellectually dishonest - if we want to break it down.
She is NOT pro-life. And to say you have to be pro-life because you're Catholic is stupid and dangerous. Why can't you see that?
I know rationale and logic is hard for you churchies who still so desperately want to be taken in by a religion that doesn't want you.

I'm sorry R319, R323. Yes, I was replying to R320.

by Anonymous | reply 325 | October 23, 2024 3:35 AM |
R325 - Biden says it's a personal choice. He never says he's pro-life because he's Catholic. He states that it's an individual's choice and government should not impede.
He calls himself pro-choice - he never defines himself as pro-life and has never said he's pro-life because of his religion.
Any other questions R325?

R329, I half listen anymore but I've noticed a distinct change in tone since she came back after her MIA Walz appearance. I don't even hear the constant racial inserts into every topic which is her MO. I wonder if she got a talking-to or if she realizes she caused the biggest damage to Kamala's campaign with her FOX News gift of a question.
R330, you should have heard her when she was a co-host and tried to speak seriously on political topics. She also sounded as if she got a dig in at his expense during her little message.
Another non-eventful day 13 days before the election but hey they managed to fit in another truly obnoxious vendor for a VYD segment and their daily cash giveaway segment was at its Univision best.
The only three things I can count on from this news show during the height of election season: 1.) VYD. 2.) Cash giveaway. 3.) Abortion ad.

Sara Haines will make up anything to be a centrist.
Look - stop with how we're going to stop things in the Middle East. We can only do so much - Israelis need to get Netanyahu out of office, the Palestinians need to get rid of Hamas and get democratically elected officials, not a terrorist organization.
And what they fuck you think Trump would do?

It seems that she's not going to take shit from Netanyahu. He's not going to get a blank check, she's not going to send him love and kisses when Palestinian children are burning to death. She's going to be pro Isreal but not pro Netanyahu. You do have to listen to what she is saying and what she is not saying but she cannot come out and be explicit. It's strange that Sarah thinks she can. She can't do it without shitting on Joe and/or giving the NYT fodder to bring her down. The bigger story, as usual, is that Trump admitted to frequent calls with Netanyahu where he (no doubt) undermines Biden's negotiations. That should be enough to end his campaign. That should be on every newspaper. But alas.
by Anonymous | reply 350 | October 24, 2024 10:10 PM |
R345 - nobody said that was the answer - it was just a start. But neither Netanyahu or Hamas are acting in good faith and are doing their respective people any favors.
The point is - the US can't do anything there without a military intervention, which isn't going to happen. The issues are too deep for a quick solution.
It's irritating how this has become some people's only issue - particularly among the young - when it's so complex and there's only so much pressure the US or the President can put on Israel.
To put this much weight on to Kamala and the office is ridiculous and stupid.

Maybe we'll hear something about it tomorrow. Whoopi's off but Sara should be there.

Maybe it's just my middle-aged, pretty, thin straight blonde woman in yoga pants bias - but before she speaks, I already don't want to hear what she has to say. And I'm usually not wrong.
She plays the centrist/contrarian card too much - I know that's her 'role' but the problem is that it makes a false equivalency to both sides and gives each side's 'fault' equal weight.
Saying you want Hitler's generals and there's an enemy within = Kamala didn't say enough about Israel/Palestine. They're not the same or have the same weight.

He's trying to pivot and be 'oh i'm a moderate' - except that he's not.
It's like in the Peanuts cartoon when Lucy swipes the ball away from Charlie Brown - every time. That's the Republican's 'trust' game over and over.

Everyone, as evidenced by all of his staff and cabinet members calling him a fascist and unfit, KNEW what he was by 2020. That kills any good deeds by Christie for me - and also Bridgegate in 2015, which was an unforgivable abuse of power. That's the only one they CAUGHT him in - it can't be the first and only time.

No Joy, the average American and those Kamala is trying to convert don't care for celebrities and they really don't want to hear their political views. If you want to reach the undecideds and the independents, you're better off talking policy instead of having Beyonce show up at a rally.

If I'm not mistaken, celebrity endorsements for politicians have been somewhat effective since President Kennedy's campaign. And it helped Ronald Reagan when his "Hollywood" friends came forward to endorse him in both 1980 and 1984. Some may say argue it doesn't help, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

The average on-the-fence voter does not care for Hollywood actors who spout off on politics, global warming, etc. They feel as if they're being preached to with an attitude of do as I say and not as I do. If you want to lose an undecided this is the way to go about it.

I WWed your post r392 but I I wouldn't go that far. We live in an age of influencers, perhaps moreso than ever before. Underestimating the likes of Taylor Swift etc on the young is easy to do.
by Anonymous | reply 393 | October 28, 2024 4:27 PM |
I think it depends on the celebrity and the tone of what they say. I think Taylor's Instagram endorsement was very well done. But someone like George Clooney or Robert De Niro going on a long winded rant is sure to turn people off.
by Anonymous | reply 394 | October 28, 2024 4:52 PM |
Yes R393, it is a different world for the younger generations. I suppose they grew up with social media and the constant influx of celebrity endorsements, celebrity quotes, celebrity products, etc. Hopefully that will persuade them to come out and vote on the 5th.
The older gens, however, turn off when they hear a celebrity spouting off on politics as mentioned in R394's post. I think it has the opposite effect.
VYD, oh joy.

I was expecting much more from Sunny and Ana today. They were both too scripted and eventually forgettable. Whoopi's was the most passionate today.
Meanwhile, I watched the opening segment of 'The Five' today on FOX. As expected, they had nothing but praise for Trump's speeches last night and the comedians on his stage. They had nothing but outrage for the liberals who called it a 'Nazi' rally. Ho hum.

Sunny helped lead the pressure campaign to make Biden choose Kamala as the VP. along with Joy Reid and a few other black women in media. so if Kamala gets elected expect her delusions of grandeur to get even bigger.
by Anonymous | reply 397 | October 28, 2024 11:00 PM |
Ana is always too scripted but I thought what she said was good. Sunny was too scripted and it was lame. I actually thought Sara’s line about Trump having October Surprised himself was the best.
by Anonymous | reply 398 | October 28, 2024 11:15 PM |
What's the evidence that Sunny had any influence with Joe Biden?
by Anonymous | reply 399 | October 28, 2024 11:41 PM |
I thought Ana and Sunny going all Julia Sugarbaker on their asses was justified in this case.
by Anonymous | reply 400 | October 29, 2024 12:34 AM |
R400, oh, please. Sunny's tepid takedowns are laughable especially when she pauses for laughs which never come, or her ridiculous dramatic pauses while staring at the screen with pursed lips. Brian giving these women written assignments to feed their delusions of diva is laughable.
I'm also tired of Ana always going all overwrought Evita on the balcony every time Trump or his surrogates say something offensive. We get it he's an asshole. I don't need you building to a dramatic crescendo of self-righteous indignation every time Trump offends your sensibilities. WE KNOW HIM. WE KNOW WHO HE IS AND WE KNOW WHAT HE STANDS FOR. Focus on Kamala.
Then we have the screeching old lady yelling at everyone to vote for Kamala. EVERY. FUCKING. DAY. Or she's telling us how bad Trump is. EVERY. FUCKING. DAY. As others have said they should have focused on Kamala's policies instead of the constant preaching to the choir bullshit day in and say out.
Lastly, Whoopi the walking ego. One week to go and they're taking the entire first segment to discuss Trump talking on the Rogan podcast about his appearances on The View. Whoopi, whom I thought was better behaved when Barbra was present proved me wrong by showing a clip of the Trump intro staring at the camera with disdain. So professional. I know he was being a birther asshole at the time but like Barbara, she should have at least had the self-control to remain calm and show a bit of professionalism during the interview. Nope not for this rather feisty and testy stoner.
by Anonymous | reply 401 | October 29, 2024 3:17 AM |
Can these hosts - and Kamala Harris - please move away from calling Trump 'unstable and unhinged' ? Those two words have been so over-used the past eight years that they have lost all their meaning to describe his state of mind. There are other adjectives they can use at this point. (And please don't return to calling him 'delusional' - you're not in high school, ladies).
by Anonymous | reply 402 | October 29, 2024 3:38 AM |
I agree, R402. Nine years later and it's as if we've cycled back to the infamous quote: "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters." People have become so desensitized to the obscene rhetoric and the daily insults that nothing and I mean nothing seems to phase his cult. Same goes for the average citizen who has heard all the adjectives ascribed to Trump. They become less and less effective the more they are repeated.
Wouldn't it be ironic if the Teflon Don is finally taken down by a talentless comedian.
This clip says exactly what I want to hear on election night.

That was a rather awkward interview with journalist / author Bob Woodward today. It seemed like Joy wanted to interview him personally, with no interruptions from the others. Yet AFG and Sara tried to get their questions in and change the course of the interview (he was there to promote his best-seller, but Joy was stuck on the WP dropping the Harris endorsement) and the train really skidded off the rails. I don't think it was the interview they were aiming for.

Today's show was a horror and it had nothing to do with Halloween.
They had Mark Cuban (AGAIN), but this time it was a Zoom appearance. He couldn't hear them, and they couldn't hear him. So then Cuban decides to yell into his audio, which only made it worse. He's in the middle of explaining the debacle of Trump's tarriffs, and the music starts thumping while Whoopi cuts him off with 'our thanks to Mark Cuban...' What a waste of time.
When they came back from commercial, they were in the middle of a discussion about 'murder houses' (at least on my channel which carries the show) and broke for another commercial break in less than 45 seconds.
by Anonymous | reply 414 | October 31, 2024 10:55 PM |
Why couldn't they just do a Halloween episode?
Everyone knows where they stand. No one is being swayed by this show's opinions.
You know this was Sunny's idea.
by Anonymous | reply 415 | October 31, 2024 10:59 PM |
R415 - you're very wrong - this show is very influential in forming women's opinions and views - hence The View. Many women feel forced to defer to men or are talked over in real life conversations - so this is an open place to hear what other women think.
I'm glad it wasn't the same ol' Halloween costume stuff. Let the kids do it - although those kids' costumes were pretty awful.

[quote] Many women feel forced to defer to men or are talked over in real life conversations - so this is an open place to hear what other women think.
I'm not the person you're addressing, but I must ask you - do you watch this show regularly ? These women talk over each other constantly, and don't really give a damn what their cohosts think. They just want to spurt out what their opinion is, and have no interest in the other four (Sunny is most guilty of this). Sunny gets pissed off when the others talk over her. She likes to say, "May I finish what I was saying, please ?"
And these women may not defer to men (since no men are sitting at the table), but they always defer to Whoopi - including the guests. Everyone turns to her for her great prophecies, as though she's the Oracle of Delphi.
by Anonymous | reply 417 | November 1, 2024 12:14 AM |
R417 - I've watched it on and off over the years. I couldn't stand the conservative harpies Hasselbeck and My Dad Was John McCain! when they were on. Just awful dishonest arguments and behavior - and extremely rude to all the other panelists.
Yes I know they talk over each other - but it's different than when men are at the table. You see it on most round tables - women wait their turn and defer to men, where men will just plow into women and take all the time they want.
Whoopi IS the moderator, so they are supposed to defer to her. But I still say this show definitely informs women viewers and helps them to decide on the issues of the day.

Apparently Mark Cuban thought his interview was at 10:30am, not 11:30am and was scheduled to be on his private jet at 11:30. Rather than cancel, he said he’d do the interview from his jet. Hence the unsurprising technical difficulties.
by Anonymous | reply 419 | November 1, 2024 12:29 AM |
They went live for what? Their big "get" days before the election is Mark Cuban. Again? Who gives a shit what he thinks and then he goes and causes controversy by insulting women around Trump. Yeah, Trump's a misogynistic asshole but Cuban could have pushed some Trump women on the fence back over the fence to Trump's side.
I wish these celebrities would just shut the fuck up and stay the hell out of politics. Then for the rest of the show they fell right back into vapid segment time with the rest of the show.
How come no one has mentioned how asshole Joy is in trouble because she so bitchily outed Sara on the show yesterday. She was as cunty to Sara as Sunny was to her when she said she had been with the show since its inception. Cunty move, Joy and in front of her parents no less.

You become upset when someone says they can see both sides of an issue. I hate to break it to you, but people like you who think they're being loyal to a party are just as ridiculous as the Trumpers.

by Anonymous | reply 427 | November 1, 2024 7:54 PM |
I’d be willing to cut Christie some slack if he’d come out and say he’s voting for Kamala. But sounding the alarm about Trump while also saying Kamala hasn’t earned his vote makes him as pathetically feckless as the rest of the GOP.
by Anonymous | reply 428 | November 1, 2024 8:24 PM |
Christie has returned so soon because he's the network's "political analyst". They need to make sense why he's on the payroll - so they ship him out to different shows. Funny that when he's a guest, he's already sitting at the table when they introduce him - no walking onto the stage and taking a seat. I'd like to know how big the 'stool' is that they plop him on. It's certainly not the small dainty stools the ladies sit on.
by Anonymous | reply 429 | November 1, 2024 11:32 PM |

I'm so tired of hearing "she hasn't earned my vote - she hasn't done a quadruple axle and triple toe combination yet!".
They can fuck off - just wanting attention, wanting to spar with people, and trying to make themselves feel smarter and that THEY know more so they question it.

Another Paisan-centric Friday Is Joy requesting specific guests when she moderates the show?
by Anonymous | reply 433 | November 2, 2024 5:59 AM |
R433 As an Italian-American, I'm glad to see this happening if she's really doing this.
As a matter of fact, October was 'Italian Heritage Month'. How many times did they discuss that on 'The View' ? How many times did Joy do a spotlight on a famous Italian during the month ? How many times did they have an Italian guest on the show to promote their heritage ? The answer is 'never' - and never has it happened in 28 seasons.
October was also 'Hispanic Heritage Month' - which we all know by the on-going promotion the show gave that, and the discussions they have, and the spotlights on Latinos given by Sunny and Ana.
Imagine if just one season the producers paid attention to Italian heritage in October, and ignored the Hispanic heritage ? The outrage would be coming through our television's - starting with Sunny.
by Anonymous | reply 434 | November 2, 2024 3:09 PM |

IIRC, Walters retired from the show (and public appearances) when she was 84 - and showing signs of dementia on the show. So maybe Joy will last two more seasons and retire at 84 ?
Then again, part of me thinks that after this election, and the dust settles, this may be her last season. The next three seasons (until the 2028 election) won't be as exciting.

by Anonymous | reply 437 | November 2, 2024 3:28 PM |
R434, I agree. I wrote the post at R433 and you're right the only reason I knew it was Italian Heritage Month was from the commercials (don't know the actual term) that play on WABC7 during the show. They should have had their little tributes each day like they've done for other groups, but they didn't.
I also noticed they gave short shrift to Gay Pride Month this year. Unlike other groups who are highlighted each day during their month, I think I saw maybe one profile per week if that.
Last year was the big Target dust-up wherein they heavily promoted LGB apparel. They also had apparel specific to the T community which did not go over well with the moms of Target. Other than the boycott they highlighted just a few of the LGB pioneers giving more focus to T than LGB. They should have focused on the positive achievements of those in the community instead they decided to run with the controversy.
by Anonymous | reply 438 | November 2, 2024 5:18 PM |
I recall they ignored Asian American Pacific Islander month in May (except for a brief mention in the beginning of the month, where Whoopi tells the audience on the first day 'All month long we will be honoring AAPI-ers throughout history...' and they never did. Never followed through with Gay Pride Month, as you said.
But in February they made certain they celebrated Black History Month each day, and now Hispanic Heritage Month. Something tells me Sunny has a lot to do with this...just a hunch.

Whoopi's acting in full dramatic effect on Quincy's passing yet she still had to look at her cards for some reason. From the heart, dear, from the heart. Talk to Sara. Spot-on, R440.
Ana used her celebrity card not on Quincy but to brag about speaking to Kamala Harris about Liz Cheney to Liz Cheney!! Are you following? Someone please find her a therapist, throw her in the room and lock the door.

I can't stop laughing at this - I have tears coming down my face I'm laughing so hard. I had to keep hitting rewind on my DVR to make sure I was hearing Ana correctly.
[quote]I think Sunny is persona non grata in the Harris camp after that infamous question.
I think you're 100% correct. But it must be comforting to her to know she's 'the star' of the Republican attack ads from the Trump campaign. Every time I see a close-up of her face on screen, and 'the question' comes out of her mouth, I know this is not an ad for 'The View'...it's an ad for the Trump campaign. I said it before, and I'll say it over and over again - who would have thunk Sunny would have been Kamala's "October Surprise" and torpedo her campaign.
It's refreshing to see Liz Cheney - a respected life-long Republican - not only side with Harris, but to make the campaign rounds and show up on 'The View', and NOT ONCE utter the words "My father..." I hope MeAgain McCain is taking notes going forward on how to be a humble off-spring of a politician.
by Anonymous | reply 450 | November 4, 2024 10:30 PM |
I HATED that they all said Liz had such a strong moral core and would be a great attorney general. NO - neither is true! Just because she went after Jan 6th and was only a handful of Republicans with principles at the time does not mean she's a good person. Like - at all.
I feel a lot of this for Liz was to rehabilitate the Cheney name, which is rightfully AWFUL. Her father and Liz were disgusting criminal people.
At this point, you can NOT trust any Republicans - they're like Lucy with the football and Charlie Brown.
She's against gun control, climate change policy - she even wanted to investigate environmental groups like the Sierra Club, she was anti-gay marriage - with a lesbian sister, she SUPPORTED the Dobbs position and wants abortion illegal.
She's a monster - and her Dad was even worse. She's not rehabilitated in my eyes just because she did the right thing for once in her life. Fuck her.
by Anonymous | reply 451 | November 4, 2024 10:56 PM |
Sunny said to Liz - like you, I'm anti-abortion - BITCH, stop it with your bullshit. No you are not - you are personally against abortion for yourself but you believe the procedure should be available to others. That makes you pro CHOICE.
Sunny is so into her identity as a Catholic it makes me want to barf. Who else talks like this? Catholics don't talk like that - evangelical Protestants do, but not many Catholics.
And her statements often have no bite and no punch to them. She reads them off with this smirk like she's really laying into someone, but they often fail to land - and you're left thinking - this is the BEST take-down or response she could come up with? You're waiting for the zinger that never comes.
She would bore the hell out of me at a party or dinner.

R452, she once referred to her place of worship on the show as a "black church." I laughed because I thought it was so Sunny to go out of her way to find a Catholic church that is predominantly black.
I also agree with you about her so-called zingers. She wrote in her memoir how her best "gotcha!" moment on The View was when they interviewed Newt Gingrich. I can't remember exactly what it was, but I do remember seeing the episode and it was nothing, yet she thought it was her greatest View moment. I think she suffers from only child syndrome where she was doted upon by her parents and given a false sense of intellectual superiority.

How the hell is Sunny going to excuse the fact that Black men doubled their support for Trump this election, as everyone is reporting this morning ? CNN is reporting less than 10% of Black men supported Trump in 2020, and more than 22% of Black men supported Trump this time. I thought Sunny said 'black men listen to their black mama' and will go out and vote for Harris ?
How is Sunny going to explain away that more than a quarter of women who said they are pro-choice voted for Trump ?
How in the world is Sunny going to blame 'the white male voter' on this defeat ?

Will Sunny's black side blame Sunny Latina side?
by Anonymous | reply 471 | November 6, 2024 1:28 PM |
Sunny will blame white women and white men. If there were a white picket fence demographic able to vote, Sunny would also blame the white picket fence.
I've noticed when a black man's vote or opinion is not in sync with her political views, she'll make the black man a victim of the white man and claim the black man has been manipulated by the white man. Make up your mind, Sunny. Are black men strong, independent intelligent men or are they simple minded idiots at the mercy of evil whitey? How did she ever successfully argue court cases when she is so blatantly amateurish and unconvincing with her bad acting and weak arguments? Maybe today she'll finally admit not all black people are a monolith.
Meghan McCain was, is, and will always be an envious fired-by-The-View Class-A Cunt.
by Anonymous | reply 472 | November 6, 2024 2:40 PM |
Sunny is right. It is the racism, but I will add with the filtered "news" from Fox/OAN and Newsmax.
Fox learned that you cannot lie FOR Trump but filtering good news about Democrats is a winning combination.
So when people say they didn't know her, it was a red flag that they only got their news from the propaganda machine.
When the economy is doing so well after a Pandemic without a crash, you don't have to wonder where all the people who were bad talking the economy got their information. MSNBC will not point the finger at another media company, but it is clear that MSNBC needs a show devoted to what the propaganda machine is NOT putting out daily.
This is what OWNING THE LIBS IS ALL ABOUT. Them taking credit for our advances.
And if you paid attention, we will have an unchecked president with a corrupt Supreme Court with a Senate almost super majority.
Good luck with bipartisanship. Oh and ladies, if you thought that niggers voting for Trump was horrific, just wait til the national ban comes through and your dead pregnant bodies litter the streets LEGALLY!!!

by Anonymous | reply 475 | November 6, 2024 3:51 PM |
R473, you sound a tad unhinged. It is not racism when someone votes in their best interest. As Clinton famously said back in '92 It's the economy, stupid. Voters also had their voices heard on immigration. You may not like it, but people are allowed to vote on what most affects their daily lives. The economy is actually doing very well but it would seem those not in the market only see the inflationary side and it has most definitely impacted their quality of life.
This election may echo Palestine 2006 when they voted in Hamas. That was their last election. Oops.
R475, while R473 screams racism, it was actually Sunny who dealt the lethal blow to her campaign. Ironic, huh.

Here comes the annoying Medicare spouse nagging her husband about coverage. Good times.
Sunny: "Black women tried to save the country again last night." She's going after "uneducated" white women and Latino men. Alyssa asked her why she has to say, "uneducated white women." "Do not put them in a box." Get her, Alyssa.
by Anonymous | reply 485 | November 6, 2024 4:31 PM |
Sunny has narrowed it down to 'uneducated white women' and Latino men. 80% of Black Men voted for Harris, so it's not their fault, she says. But 92% of Black men voted for Hillary, and 90% of Black men voted for Biden. She can't wrap her head around this.
Alyssa tried to put her in her place, but Sunny's not having it.
by Anonymous | reply 486 | November 6, 2024 4:33 PM |
I think Sunny's loyalties in regard to race and ethnicity are aligned with her parent's specific race and ethnicity. She won't go after black men because her father is black. And even though her mother is Puerto Rican I suppose male Puerto Ricans and Hispanics are fair game. As for black and Hispanic women, I suppose Sunny considers herself both depending on the day and in which direction her race Tourette's will take her.

I can't believe her campaign staff didn't prep her for such questions. When you have 75% of the nation saying we're headed in the wrong direction, you just might want to separate yourself from certain unpopular policies.

I really wish one - just one - of the hosts would shut her down with corrections. I wish one of them would bring out the factual stats that Harris lost the black male vote from the past two elections, and the same with the Latino vote. I wish when Sunny is spitting out 'cultural resentment' , I wish one of the hosts would say, "Can you explain that to us ? " and then deflate her argument. And when she tries to shut them down, they need to repeat the facts to her - or repeat the question. Alyssa would be great to do this, but Whoopi (her fellow Black cohost who sees things more factually then her) would be the best to ask her this.
Instead, her cohosts sit their like bobbleheads nodding along as she blames and insults white people (yes, I'm looking at you Alyssa, Joy and Sara). Kudos to Alyssa for calling her out with 'uneducated white women', but she didn't go far enough. Can you imagine if Alyssa said the words 'uneducated black women voters' in front of Sunny ?
by Anonymous | reply 498 | November 7, 2024 12:31 PM |
Joy wearing her old stripper gear. Her watch alarm going off during the show again.
Sunny shut the fuck up and allow Alyssa to speak. Sunny's losing her ability to remain calm which shows this former federal prosecutor is leading with emotion instead of facts. Every time Alyssa mentions a voting stat Sunny turns it into a racist defense or accuses men of misogyny. Alyssa mentioned a Texas town of Latinos where 75% voted for Trump. Sunny yells misogyny and Alyssa rebuts with actual facts. Border town and people are sick of being overrun by immigrants flooding the border.
As R498 mentioned, I'd like to see at least one co-host challenge Sunny's supposed facts by making her show actual proof of her assertions. Today's debate was provoked by Sunny when she kept interrupting Alyssa. Alyssa came through and shut down every one of Sunny's unfounded accusations. We need to see more of this during Hot Topics.
11:24 EST Cut off by a special report: Biden speaks.

Sunny honestly sounds unhinged. As mentioned upthread, it was guaranteed that if Kamala won Sunny would say it was because she was exceptional and if she lost would blame it on racism and misogyny. I laugh every time she acts indignant about people accusing her of being a racist or a race baiter. She really doesn’t realize that when she sits there ranting about “uneducated white women” that that’s the definition of racism?
I’m also cracking up at Whoopi not saying a peep when Stephen A. Smith said Biden was too old and should have stepped aside 2 years ago. Where was the Whoopi of last summer who railed every day about respecting your elders and ranting about Biden being unfairly pushed out?

R502 I noticed this, too. So far it has gotten MUCH more attention than Italian Heritage Month. This got a 'highlight' today - Italians got a mere ten second mention from Joy for the whole month.
by Anonymous | reply 503 | November 8, 2024 1:07 AM |
I was thinking - by yesterday, Whoopi, Sara and Alyssa were well out of their 'mourning phase' and were back the their normal personality for the cameras. Joy is still 'angry', but it comes across as more of an act for 'effect'. It's part of her shtick on being the bitter, older, discontented woman and sets her up for her jokes.
Sunny, however, seems to still be deep in mourning / depression / anger. However, I think it's more humiliation and embarrassment she's trying to cover up.
I have a feeling she's being tormented on social media and in public for her sinking Harris' campaign on 'The View' with her now historical, infamous question (which the show has never mentioned again - the elephant in the room). She must be ridiculed every day in public, pointing out she was the star of Trump's campaign ads the past month. You know she can't escape this, and its getting under her skin. I wouldn't be surprised if she decides to 'take time off from the show' - maybe come back after Thanksgiving.

by Anonymous | reply 506 | November 8, 2024 2:42 PM |
I blame Kamala more than Sunny. It should have been an easy answer. When Sunny’s addressed it since then she’s claimed Kamala did have something she’d do differently, which is appoint a Republican. Which is still a terrible answer since it has no impact on prices or immigration, which is what sunk the Dems. I was just listening to a podcast where they said Kamala’s disastrous answer to this question was hugely damaging since people were looking for change and she was apparently offering none. It’s hilarious to me that Sunny helped sink this campaign. Those “soror” gatherings must be super awkward now.

LOL. Great show so far. Sunny is losing her shit and REFUSES to listen to Alyssa and Sara and always flips it back to race. She's even blinking weird today. Stone-faced yet I noticed a flicker of a reaction when Sara spoke of people saying they felt unsafe while the Dems backed Defund the Police and BAIL REFORM. (Sunny's a big defender of bail reform.)
I liked when Sara also corrected them when Sunny said the Republican party had to look inward. No Sunny, we lost the House, the Senate, the WH and the SC will be a conservative majority for generations because of this election. THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY NEEDS TO BE INTROSPECTIVE. She is nuts.

R511, yesterday when Whoopi announced guests for today's show, she didn't mention Christie but did mention McBride. He also bailed a week or so ago when he was scheduled. Maybe a scheduling conflict or he just got tired of being constantly interrupted.
R512, he hates Trump and Trump hates him, so I think that ship has sailed. If he were smart, he'd start a coalition to try and rebuild the traditional R party. Thankfully not all Republicans and conservatives are glad Trump is back in power.
Did anyone else notice Ana interrupted (read: undermined Joy once again) when she was reading an intro? Joy looked pissed.
I enjoyed the cooking segment. Kind of a gentle and humorous segment to pull away from the election and get back to more traditional segments.
Great first Hot Topics segment. I hope to see more pushback by Sara and Alyssa when Sunny spouts off with accusations rather than facts. Hard lessons learned in this election so Sunny, take some time to reflect.

I was waiting for Sara to slip and say, "If it wasn't for your stupid question to Kamala on this show a month ago, she would probably be President Elect today !!!!!" Let's give Sara time, though. She's just getting started.
Why didn't they have Alex Guarnachelli on LAST month for Italian Heritage Month ?

Yes R522, but R521 is also correct. When it was Alyssa's turn to speak Sunny positioned her body to face away from Alyssa's direction then looked in Joy's direction. She also refused to acknowledge Alyssa when she asked her a direct question.
For all of her constant reminders of being highly educated and a former federal prosecutor you would think she was taught how to respectfully deal with adversity and differing opinions. She has shown she has a very low EQ, and she shows her lack of intelligence by refusing to see both sides of an issue in order to form a more educated opinion. Bottom Line: Everything is filtered through a racial lens. She's all about race, race and only race.

Whoopi's birthday is Wednesday - why are they celebrating it on Tuesday ?
I'm glad Cynthia Erivo is a guest this week. Maybe one of the (white) hosts can bring up her past when she single-handedly closed down 'The Great Comet' musical on Broadway a few years ago, with her 'social media movement' calling out (fake) racism in the casting of the show (the show had one of the most diverse cast and crew on B'way at the time). Erivo managed to put hundreds of people out of work, including one actor who is a friend of mine. Good going, Cynthia !

R530, she was mysteriously missing the day Tim Walz visited the show. I really believe after the huge question gaffe with Kamala, they told her to stay the fuck away. Whether it was a Harris/Walz stipulation or the network's directive, I haven't a clue.
You'll notice Ana spoke constantly of being in the room with Kamala including election night. If Sunny had any sort of access to Kamala she would have been bragging about it on a daily basis.
by Anonymous | reply 531 | November 9, 2024 6:51 PM |
[quote]I'm still betting Sunny had a potential position lined up in Harris' administration
I don't think it was that. She got a lot of clout by helping to pressure Biden into picking a black woman for VP. She was one of a group of black female media personalities who was instrumental in pushing that idea and getting Clyburn on board to pressure Biden to choose Harris. She pushed the idea for months every day on The View to every democratic political guest.
I'm sure she was probably able to use that political leverage to increase her position and say on the show, which has been very obvious the last two or so years. She also managed to get a book deal and a deal to produce shows for ABC in the interim. Sunny has benefitted A LOT from her viewpoints, career and financial wise.
Now she's blamed as a reason why Kamala's campaign went south, and it's no doubt a bitter pill to swallow. But she's clearly making this very personal. She would be wise to take a leaf from Whoopi's book and keep a distance. The Meghan McCain route is not going to endear her to anyone, only alienate her further.
R531 I think Kamala embraced Ana more because Ana comes from the world of politics, whereas Sunny does not. Plus, Ana just does her job and goes home. There has always been veiled opportunism in the way Sunny has chosen to go about doing this, and I'm sure Kamala sees that. She's not stupid.

Illegal immigrants cost taxpayers over $150B annually.
Criminals: Instead of retaining them as they entered the country they instead released over 600,000 migrants with criminal records into the country.
And for the last time in relation to "black jobs" black construction workers in California had a huge presence and good union jobs but were slowly replaced by undocumented migrants. It may not be a "black job" but at one time in Ca it did employee many black people.

This was a 50/50 fuck-up. Maybe Hostin should not have asked that question but Harris should have at least been prepared with a better answer.
by Anonymous | reply 548 | November 11, 2024 11:01 PM |
R548, yes but it's kind of the ultimate mindfuck for Sunny. Sunny has been building toward this moment for the past four years. She was very vocal about Biden choosing a black woman as VP. CHECK. Sunny pretended to be loyal to Biden, but you know she was champing at the bit for him to step aside so Kamala could ascend. CHECK. Kamala gets the nod, the nomination and appears to be cruising in the polls. Sunny can feel victory is within her grasp.
Then she appeared on The View. Then she was asked THAT question. Then THAT question became the defining moment in her campaign Then THAT clip became the conservative soundbite of the race. Then she started to fall in the polls. Then talking heads said THAT question is what cost her the election.
The moral of the story is: Sunny has had her Machiavellian machinations in play for the past four years. She felt she was one of the people (black women) instrumental in Kamala's rise and would be responsible for her election win. Instead, she was the one who is being blamed for ultimately causing her downfall. It's Shakespearean and it couldn't happen to a nicer gal.
by Anonymous | reply 549 | November 11, 2024 11:27 PM |
On the bright side, Sunny can fully embrace her Latina identity now and start the ball rolling on the JLo2028 campaign.
by Anonymous | reply 550 | November 11, 2024 11:51 PM |
I do love that Sunny spent all of 2020 insisting Biden "*must* select a black woman as VP" because black women were "owed" it for their support. Then when Kamala gets her ass kicked in 2024, Sunny immediately blames it on the fact that she's a black woman. It's almost like constantly prioritizing race and gender isn't actually a good idea. Who would have guessed??

Did Ana miss that lesson, too ?

She did say it, R553. I don’t remember if it is was before or after she reminded us that she was at the Harris campaign gathering on election night.

Whoopi holding cue cards up reading Biden's accomplishments and she doesn't get the sad joke. Trump is a hateful POS but you practically recite verbatim his garbage views. Sara was right, the democrats didn't hammer home Biden's accomplishments because it wouldn't have taken RESEARCH by someone on the staff to put it on a card and give it to Whoopi to tell the audience.
Also, the ganging up on Sara was disgusting. They're going to the mat pushing that Kamala ran a perfect campaign (no such thing, BTW) and that she made zero mistakes. Yeah racism played a role, but the democrats lost several million of their OWN votes.
I guess Pelosi won't be going on The View anytime soon.

by Anonymous | reply 556 | November 12, 2024 12:39 AM |
I have to hand it to Adam Glassman - he knows how to sell Oprah's products. He does it with ease, he does it from memory, and he does it with passion - exactly the way I sold stuff in my store (and taught my staff how to sell stuff: I would teach them about the new products, and had them try them so they would be excited about it when selling it customers).
Greta Monahan, on the other hand, is an idiot when she's selling stuff on the show. She knows nothing about what she's selling, and has to read off index cards for the six items she's plugging. Seriously ? She can't learn about the products before she goes in front of the camera, and pretend she's truly excited about the stuff she's selling ? You can't be that convincing when you're reading the index cards.

Sunny insisted throughout Kamala is running/ran a flawless campaign.
They just don't seem to see the irony of it all. On Friday's show they spent Hot Topic debating what went wrong with the Dem party's messaging. Joy was blaming the voters for not paying attention. Sunny was blaming anyone without melanin. Sara and Alyssa were giving them a dose of reality.
Then the irony of it all came when their political guest was Congressional nominee Sarah McBride. I haven't a clue what she stands for, but I know she is a transwoman who was the first this and the first that and on and on. I don't care what you are I want to know what you stand for. Derms run on identity politics while idiot Trump talks in single syllable words and phrases and gets his message through.
Sorry R560 but I think Sara knows exactly what she's doing and is finally putting politeness on the back burner to get her point across.
by Anonymous | reply 561 | November 12, 2024 1:09 AM |
R557 I have issue with Adam Glassman's overdrive voice. It's beyond slick-n-slimy. He is a decent salesman compared with Greta. Your take on her is perfect.
by Anonymous | reply 562 | November 12, 2024 2:06 AM |
I agree with you, R561, about Sara but totally disagree about Sarah McBride. The hosts talked about her being the first openly trans member of Congress, but she focused on the importance of bringing down costs of living and housing, making healthcare affordable, and protecting reproductive rights. When asked about trans issues she said "I didn't run to the be spokesperson for a movement. I ran to be a voice for Delawareans." I thought her answers were sensible, didn't focus on identity, and are exactly what the Dems need to be doing.
by Anonymous | reply 563 | November 12, 2024 3:00 AM |
I'll rewatch the interview, R563. I just remember them listing all of her accomplishments which seemed to be trans-related. I recall the intro clip which I suppose was her acceptance speech but other than that I don't recall specific policies mentioned.

Joy out today, Ana in. Ana gets her I know Marco Rubio schtick in before she begins her verbal dissertation. I think Ana is in a depression since the election. She looks so defeated.
Sunny doesn't believe the election was about the price of eggs. How the hell would she know the price of eggs she raises chickens.
Sunny is still holding firm to her stance on the election. She is one stubborn woman who is an incredibly close-minded individual. She created a black bubble to the point she refers to her Catholic church as a black church. Now that its burst she can't fathom the fact people have different views and priorities other than hers. She's like a Liberal version of a FOX News 24/7 type.
Whoopi's "a working person." She says she has to work. She's still working because her family is a bunch of leeches.
Kristin looking good. Didn't she marry a gay guy?

Sunny’s resting bitch face has resting bitch face. It was evident when the camera panned to her after Sarah finished speaking at one point, and Sunny’s expression was stone cold.
Whoopi’s “if I didn’t need to work, I wouldn’t work” shtick was cringeworthy.

I suppose from the AOC feedback, we need to get an outsider and someone who talks ONLY to working class problems.
How do we do that? We already were - but time to put a game plan together.
The thing is - you attack Wall Street and corporations and they're going to spend $$$$ to kill you in ads.
But I understand the feeling - people can hardly afford rent and groceries. Then EVERYTHING has gone up - restaurants, drinks, sports tickets, concert tickets - how is anyone supposed to enjoy life?
Hopefully people will stop paying these outrageous prices - but it doesn't seem to stop people, so there is no incentive for places to stop price gouging.
I don't know the answer.
by Anonymous | reply 573 | November 12, 2024 6:44 PM |
I just looked up their salaries - Whoopi is 8 mil, Joy is 7, Sunny is 1.6, Haines is 1.5 and Farrah is probably around 300k as a newbie.
18 million a year in those 5 salaries alone - add in probably 18 million in other salaries and production costs if not more.
No wonder they're doing these in-show advertisements.

R576 - she really is crying about being poor and needing the job. She's probably taking home around half that - after taxes, agent / manager fees, etc. Or perhaps 40% of it.
Plus you don't know if she gets a clothing allowance.
It is a time-consuming job - 4 days a week probably 45-46 weeks per year. But she doesn't have to cover the show - just moderate the first 20-30 minutes.
It's a pretty great deal - and she's been doing it for 17 years! What are her bills???

by Anonymous | reply 578 | November 12, 2024 7:54 PM |
R572, the celebration is scheduled for tomorrow. If they have a cake, we should pay close attention to what establishment provided the cake. I'd like to see if Whoopi is indeed a hypocrite.
Whoopi calling herself "a working person" made me laugh out loud. She has a house in Italy. She has her weed business. She produces Broadway plays like The Color Purple. She has a new women's sports network debuting, and she makes $8M a year sitting like a lump for an hour a day, four days a week. Yes, you're a working person but you're not a working-class person.
She and Joy were ridiculously blind to the plight of the working-class during the election season. Every time food and gas prices were brought up, they deflected with Biden's other accomplishments. They didn't listen and they still don't get it. Go sit with Sunny.
by Anonymous | reply 579 | November 12, 2024 7:54 PM |
[quote] we need to get an outsider and someone who talks ONLY to working class problems.
And it needs to be someone voters feel like they “know” despite being an outsider. Which basically means a celebrity like Trump. God help us.

Sunny is on the podcast today discussing her question to Kamala. Naturally, she’s praising Kamala’s loyalty to Biden because she “loves a ride-or-die person.” She also said “I’m not goingto opine as to whether or not it was the right answer or the wrong answer.” Well, no one needs you to opine, you bloviating asshole. We all know it was a terrible answer and that you helped sink the campaign. No amount of ass kissing is gonna make your next meeting with your “sorors” any less awkward.
by Anonymous | reply 581 | November 12, 2024 9:05 PM |
Why did Sunny go of script? I imagine she ruffles some feathers behind the scenes since she got left out when Waltz appeared. The " sources" at ABC need to tell us what happened soon.
by Anonymous | reply 582 | November 12, 2024 9:18 PM |
R579 - they weren't blind to the working class plight - they just mentioned that inflation was dropping and it was an issue all over the world and Biden handled it better. In terms of prices of groceries and gas - Biden has nothing to do to change that.
It's a losing issue - prices went up everywhere and nobody rebelled - they just stewed and sucked it up and became pissed off. But they blamed Biden for it - which is ridiculous.
by Anonymous | reply 583 | November 12, 2024 9:29 PM |
Geez, Sunny is acting like SHE'S the Presidential candidate who lost last week. Not even Harris is taking it this hard. I still say the negativity pouring in from the public about her sinking Harris' campaign is really taking a toll on her. That, and probably Harris is not taking any of Sunny's calls (apologies) the past week. It's going to be a "Not So Thankful Giving' at Sunny's house in a couple of weeks.
Sara has had it with Sunny, and she's really going after Sunny's tiara as 'star pupil' this season. Sunny is no longer 'the smartest one' at the table, and she hasn't been for a while. It's a delight to see Sara take her down, and tell her loudly and clearly when she said "If that's what you're hearing, you've missed my point".
Can someone let Ana know she's just not as important as she seems to think she is ? Imagine if she worked with Pence and Trump in the White House for four years like AFG did ? That must go up her ass a mile, which is why she insists on 'name dropping' to impress. Speaking of AFG, thank you for being a bothersome hemorrhoid in Sunny's ass.
With the money Whoopi invests in with these different projects of hers (Broadway shows, the Women's Sports Network, her Weed Store, etc.) isn't it time her money worked for her, so she didn't have to 'work so hard' ? And shouldn't her 50+ daughter, 30+ granddaughter and their significant others stop taking advantage of the 69 year old (as of tomorrow) woman of color and earn their keep in her house ?
Kristen Chenoweth has been on 17 times, and not once do they show clips from her past appearances over the past 17 seasons. Probably because we won't recognize her - her first appearance was 17 facelifts ago. Thoughts and Prayers for Chenoweth and her face.

Whoopi was 51 when she started on the View???
She's been looking matronly for a LONG long time then.
I still can't believe Joy Behar looks so good and is the same at 82.
by Anonymous | reply 585 | November 13, 2024 12:03 AM |
R583, I understand the price increases were not Biden's fault, but the public saw him on the news (I've seen it) saying the economy was doing great. A little faux sympathy would have gone a long way. He looked completely out of touch with the average person's problems when he bragged about the economy.
As for Whoopi and Joy, I wholeheartedly disagree. There are numerous examples of Alyssa mentioning Americans were suffering and couldn't afford to put food on the table. They constantly blew it off and would deflect (even though they were clueless) about Biden's other accomplishments which a financially strapped person wouldn't really care about at that point. Whoopi is being a bit more reticent than Joy and Sunny, but her lack of understanding occasionally rears its ugly head.
by Anonymous | reply 586 | November 13, 2024 12:16 AM |
R586 - so what were they supposed to do? Inflation happened all over the world for several years - less so in the US and it's under control now. It's the corporations that increased prices and are still price-gouging.
Biden's infrastructure act created millions of jobs and manufacturing jobs that were previously lost to other countries.
Most Americans not in the upper 5% know exactly how tough it's been the last few years - car and home insurance, groceries, rent, cost of homes, all restaurant prices, utility increases - it's gone mad. But what is there to do about it?
I would dare say just LIVING has gone up 25% in the past 3 years.
Kamala had a plan to go after price-gouging. Trump has no plan. Everyone is getting pressed so hard but it is corporations AND people responsible. They keep buying at the higher prices.

R588 - so you want price fixing by the government like in a communist country? First, they don't have the authority and then be called communists?
The first 2 years they were trying to upright the ship after the fucking COVID disaster.
Every. Fucking. Time. Republicans ruin the economy, the Dems fix it - and people are like - but it isn't EXACTLY the way I want it.
What do YOU propose the govt do about price gouging?

by Anonymous | reply 590 | November 13, 2024 1:56 AM |

The show pulled in just under 4.5 million viewers the day after Election Day, making it the 'most watched show' since Barbara Walter's final episode on May 16, 2014. In other words, 4.47 million viewers tuned in to see the six women sitting Shiva, and listening to Sunny putting all the blame on 'white voters' for Harris' loss. The View” averaged 3.078 million viewers during the week of Nov. 4, making it the No. 1 show among daytime network talk and news shows. (I also posted this in Thread 31 in case anyone misses this at the end of this thread).

This season, “The View” has been up year-to-year in nine of ten weeks. All told, the show is up 9% in total viewers (2.614 million vs. 2.406 million) season to date compared to last year. “The View” also continues to be No. 1 in households and total viewers among daytime talk shows and news programs for the fifth straight season, according to ABC.
