R3 and r6 are wrong. Birth rates are going down in the richest countries. Financial incentives to get people to have more kids haven't worked. People simply want fewer children

Countries with the highest birth rates are all in Africa. Countries with the lowest are in Asia and Europe. South Korea has the lowest birth rate for larger nations. Middle class women don’t want kids.

As a Greek-American, this saddens me so much. I donate to The Hellenic Initiative (thehellenicinitiative.org), which in turn helps the people of Greece. It's not only a charity for those underserved communities, but it also helps Greek businesses and start-ups. Greece must be able to survive beyond only tourism. I don't know what else to do. This situation is heartbreaking.

A country and culture is more than its birthrate. If you replace Greeks with immigrants Greece is dead anyway.

They need to stop blaming millennials for the population decline. The decline is the fault of boomers. Many of them had three to five siblings, but went on to have just one or two kids.

Many Middle eastern and African immigrants are going to the western countries because of their wellfare programs. They are not going there to work. So, there is no big gain there. The real workforce in Germany are Indians, Filipinos and people which they are stealing from South and East Europe.

This is could be resolved by increasing automation in other areas of the economy and reallocating affected workers to the jobs that still require a human to do them.

In the old days, couples just humped out kids left and right because it wasn't a lifetime of expense. The kids had food, shelter, and clothing and they were golden.

But now... you need to provide for obscene childcare fees (because kids can't be latchkey children anymore.. because Nancy Grace!), a college fund, an expensive iPhone and cellphone plan.

It's the same thing with dog ownership. People just used to just leave them in the dog house in the backyard. And now vet medicine is an entire industry.

Oh, and kids were considered a fool-proof eldercare insurance policy.

Baby boomers want grandchildren as ornaments they can indulge once a year or so. They have no interest in helping with childcare like prior generations of grandparents.

OP is a bullshiter. There is no lack of workforce, it is just that corporations want cheap labour and don't want to pay domestic worker. So, domestic worker from peripheral EU countries goes to Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Scandinavia. You will find millions Greeks and other Balkanic workers in north west of Europe.

As for immigrants, thoss who really come to work, will accept work even in Greece and Croatia. There are few hundred thousand workers from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Philipines in Croatia. They would probably like to get to Germany, but they don't complain. They are very hard working and peacuful people, I have never heard that anyone, not once had any problem with them.

Those who are heading straight to Germany and Sweden, mostly Arabs and sub Saharan Africans are welfare queens. I remember in 2015 when hordes of Syrians were passing through Croatia they didn't want to stay here, and some people who felt compassion because they were refugees offered them to stay, they declined, because they wanted to get to Germany. No wonder that 80% of them are not working, but living on welfare.
