I read an article about Jane King one of the victims of the Hillside Strangler and an aspiring actress. She’s in the opening credits of the film at around 1:16 fixing her hair. The opening sequence with the songs and black and white photos is haunting and shows how fun and empty nightlife is. The Marlena Shaw song at the end was perfect.
The opening credits of Looking For Mr. Goodbar.

Love the opening! I have not been able to find that particular version of Marlena Shaw's "Don't Ask To Stay Until Tomorrow."

I love the song transitions in the credits and the songs are about dating, hooking up and desperation. I think the version of “Try Me, I Know We Can Make It” is from the 12 inch single version.
Interesting fact, Boz Scaggs “Lowdown” was used in the movie and on the soundtrack. The producers of Saturday Night Fever wanted to use it as well for their film and soundtrack when Goodbar was filming. Scaggs went with Goodbar because he thought it would be bigger film. He made around $50k from the Goodbar soundtrack, had he chosen the SNF soundtrack he would’ve made $3 million by the end of 1979.

They used parts of the glorious full version of “try me I know we can make it” in the movie.
