What for dinner tonight?

I'm having a sort of Shepard's pie with a bag of Beyond Burger instead of meat. Really filling with lots of fresh mashed potatoes on top. Plus, endless glasses of white wine.

by Anonymousreply 50October 1, 2024 12:56 AM

Yuck. Except the wine.

by Anonymousreply 1September 14, 2024 9:10 PM

Shepherd's pie is made with lamb. Cottage pie is made with beef.

by Anonymousreply 2September 14, 2024 9:15 PM

As a supporter of Harris, I thought I'd have a cat and some dog.

by Anonymousreply 3September 14, 2024 9:16 PM

Skipping dinner because had burgers off the food truck. Might have some pudding later.

by Anonymousreply 4September 14, 2024 9:21 PM

I really want to make that dish that Tim Walz is crazy about.

by Anonymousreply 5September 14, 2024 9:28 PM

In the US, people call what is cottage pie shepard's pie. Deal with it.

by Anonymousreply 6September 14, 2024 9:29 PM

R6 Do they spell it like that too?

by Anonymousreply 7September 14, 2024 9:44 PM

However the spell it, they they refer to the beef version as Shepard's pie.

by Anonymousreply 8September 14, 2024 9:46 PM

Lamb biryani

by Anonymousreply 9September 14, 2024 11:12 PM

Chicken enchiladas.

by Anonymousreply 10September 14, 2024 11:15 PM

Jealous of R9. My Indian friend's wife makes the best goat biryani; and chicken too sometimes.

by Anonymousreply 11September 15, 2024 2:59 AM

I haven't eaten dinner yet, although it's after midnight. An hour ago I went to the grocery store and bought alcohol, among other things. I bought one bottle of Barefoot Bright & Breezy Pinot Grigio California Low Calorie White Wine, a 4-pack of Fresca Mixed Vodka Spritz Grapefruit Citrus Gluten-Free Canned Cocktail, and a bottle of Cherry Moscato.

by Anonymousreply 12September 15, 2024 4:15 AM

"What for dinner tonight?, OP? How about, "What's for dinner tonight?"

by Anonymousreply 13September 15, 2024 4:34 AM

I'm eating my own cunt with a side of prunes and cod.

by Anonymousreply 14September 15, 2024 4:45 AM

Chicken thighs baked in green enchilada sauce. With a lovely salad and wine. Delish!

by Anonymousreply 15September 15, 2024 4:52 AM

I had fresh spring rolls, beef teriyaki served like sushi, and veggie roll. I give myself props because I didn’t get pizza like I usually do.

by Anonymousreply 16September 15, 2024 4:55 AM

I'm disappointed the thread I started last week had no posters.

Pasta alla Norma. Fantastic, if I do say so myself.

by Anonymousreply 17September 15, 2024 5:03 AM

Saw Pulp at Kings Theater, fantastic show. Before, we got cheeseburgers at this great bar Midwood Flats. Mine was absolutely delicious.

by Anonymousreply 18September 15, 2024 5:12 AM

[quote]R2: Shepherd's pie is made with lamb. Cottage pie is made with beef.

I'm not sure where that leaves what the OP had, since his was made with Beyond Burger, a meatless product.

by Anonymousreply 19September 15, 2024 11:35 AM

I add vegetables to the traditional älplermagronen. It's all about the quality of the lard and cheese.

Oh you know, something normal. Whatever's good that a human would eat for dinner. How long have you been eating dinner?

by Anonymousreply 21September 15, 2024 12:29 PM

R21 forgot her pills again.

I’m sure OP’s Heirloom Vegetable Farmer’s Pie was fine.

Just missing those dark green leafy vegetables that most (not all) DLers always forget.

by Anonymousreply 22September 15, 2024 12:47 PM

Rack of lamb, Italian potato and green bean salad, tomato salad, Portuguese roll

by Anonymousreply 23September 16, 2024 2:24 AM

Carnitas burrito from the local Mexican take-out place. YUM! A little sour cream on the side - YUM YUM!

by Anonymousreply 24September 16, 2024 2:38 AM

Shrimp and crabcakes on arugula, with apple, papaya and avocado on the side—with a nice Chardonnay.

by Anonymousreply 25September 16, 2024 4:59 AM

Shit

by Anonymousreply 26September 16, 2024 5:17 AM

Chicken wings and wonton soup.

by Anonymousreply 27September 16, 2024 5:21 AM

I decided to fry some pork chops paired with raisin topped Brussel sprouts, motts apple sauce, and Hawaiian bread.

by Anonymousreply 28September 16, 2024 5:25 AM

I love Korean food and I make it regularly. Tonight it’s haemuljeon (seafood pancakes) with rice and a couple of vegetable side dishes.

I have followed Maangchi on YouTube for years. Her recipes never fail. I’m also making a batch of kimchi.

R29 - I also love Korean food and also have been following Maangchi for years. I always end up making four banchan for the two of us so it turns into a production. But I do this to myself. Now I'm hungry for it.

by Anonymousreply 30September 16, 2024 7:37 PM

^ Enjoy yourself!

by Anonymousreply 31September 19, 2024 6:21 PM

I cooked a piece of chicken in my toaster oven last night and then forgot about it for 5 or 6 hours. When I remembered it, I didn’t want to waste it, so I microwaved it for a long time to hopefully kill bacteria and then put it in the refrigerator. Will I get sick if I eat it today?

by Anonymousreply 32September 30, 2024 1:36 PM

Scotland here. The weather has turned colder, so I’m making a big pot of Scotch broth. I’ll freeze most of it. It’s very comforting when the weather is horrible.

by Anonymousreply 33September 30, 2024 1:43 PM

[quote] I’m making a big pot of Scotch broth.

What’s the ratio of Scotch to broth?

by Anonymousreply 34September 30, 2024 1:48 PM

Beyond Burger has the same substance as dog food. Literally.

by Anonymousreply 35September 30, 2024 1:55 PM

Cobb Salad,...and we always called it cottage pie,, but my parents are Scottish.

by Anonymousreply 36September 30, 2024 1:57 PM

Margherita pizza tonight. It's a frozen variety but a sort of gourmet quality. I bought a new countertop oven which I'm looking forward to trying out.

by Anonymousreply 37September 30, 2024 2:20 PM

I recently made kimchi with about 6 lbs nappa cabbage, R29.

I’m just going to have soup / rice and whatever side dishes I have in the fridge tonight. Might make hobak-jeon.

by Anonymousreply 38September 30, 2024 3:03 PM

Stuffed peppers. From Costco. They're delicious!

by Anonymousreply 39September 30, 2024 3:55 PM

Frozen pizza

by Anonymousreply 40September 30, 2024 4:28 PM

Braised chicken thighs and mushrooms over polenta.

by Anonymousreply 41September 30, 2024 4:36 PM

Plate-sized walnut fudge brownie with vanilla tub frosting and generic spray-bottle whipped cream.

by Anonymousreply 42September 30, 2024 4:54 PM

Corned beef, cabbage, and carrots.

by Anonymousreply 43September 30, 2024 5:14 PM

R34, I don’t drink whisky, I never liked it.

by Anonymousreply 44September 30, 2024 5:15 PM

Thai green curry with shrimp. I made green curry paste yesterday, using Thai basil, Thai green chilis, lemongrass, and magrut lime, from my patio and some of the public at our condo. I also picked my first Chinese eggplant to add to the curry. Am I bragging a bit? Yes, but this is the only place I can do it. I like to grow stuff. It's the Italian in me.

by Anonymousreply 45September 30, 2024 11:42 PM

OP learn to conjugate your verbs you silly cunt.

by Anonymousreply 46October 1, 2024 12:12 AM

I love Tim Walz but I gotta say, those Minnesota "Hot Dish" casseroles are not appealing to me in the least.

by Anonymousreply 47October 1, 2024 12:30 AM

Homemade pepperoni pizza and a tossed green salad with cherry tomatoes from our garden...and, of course, WINE!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 48October 1, 2024 12:48 AM

I am dining international tonight.

On your hot air instead of the desert's, OP.

by Anonymousreply 49October 1, 2024 12:55 AM

Post COVID, I have parosmia. It’s a smell disorder caused by damage from the virus. The majority of all things smell foul. Just disgusting. Except milk products. I had my usual cottage cheese with canned peaches. This is 80% of my diet. Delicious!
