Sorry to be bloggy, but I've been on DL since 2005 and always followed (if not always participated in) the political threads here, simply because I've never spent more than four consecutive months in the U.S. and am/was ignorant about many of the intricacies of the political system. I have an American parent who only lived in the U.S. until he was 21, so I was able to acquire U.S. citizenship through him as a young adult. I usually keep this quiet, because people sometimes question my entitlement to a U.S. passport. My own sibling (who did end up living in the U.S.) calls me "the fake American." (I live in Ireland now, which is filled with such "fake Americans"--born in the U.S. to Irish parents and moved back to Ireland at a young age, but carrying U.S. passports/holding dual citizenship).

This year, I'm voting in a U.S. election for the first time. I'm ashamed to say that sheer laziness prevented me from registering to vote in the past--that, and that the fact that I thought that the temporary U.S. address I had years ago (in Minneapolis) would not be accepted. Turns out that even U.S. citizens who have never lived in the country are still eligible to vote, as long as they have a Social Security Number.

Anyway, I just received my absentee ballot by email from Precinct 1690 in Minneapolis. Harris currently leads Trump in Minnesota, so I wish I were registered in a battleground state instead, but I'll be mailing my ballot in shortly. Here's hoping you win! I am rooting for Harris, Walz, and you all.

When someone like Laura goes openly racist, like with the curry comment, it makes the insensitive MAGAts uncomfortable, because in their thinking they don't actually have a problem with EVERY Indian, just the ones that don't like their policies.

I know lots here will disagree and say all MAGAts are racist and so forth. But that has not been my experience. I know a decent number of the second type.

As for her fucking Trump, it's amazing that THAT would be the line MAGAts draw given his record of infidelity, but doing it so openly during the campaign season might be an issue to them.
