The Talented Mr Watson is unravelling.

I feel like he wrote his own wiki entry. 🧐

A winding-up petition is a formal legal process used against a company that has not paid its debts. It is commonly used by HMRC against companies that have failed to pay tax bills more than 21 days after a statutory demand and can result in their assets being forcibly sold.

In its latest annual report, HMRC named The Bank of London as one of 11 UK banks that had chosen not to adopt its voluntary code of practice on taxation for the sector as of March 2023.

The code, introduced after the financial crisis and adopted by 316 banks, is designed to clamp down on their potential use, promotion and funding of tax avoidance.

HMRC’s legal action comes despite The Bank of London Group raising £6.5m in share capital in July, according to Companies House. The group, valued at $1.1bn in February 2023, previously tapped investors for £25m last November.

Do sugar babies count as assets?

I wonder why there is no information about his academic history anywhere, R2. Usually, people who reach such high positions are very clear about their educational background, as it contributes to their prestige and is an indication of their professional competence and the sort of social network they've carefully curated. Do we have another inexplicable success story like Jeffrey Epstein's in our midst?

Glaringly absent from his self-edited wiki page.

This is the most I found:

"A Christian who studied theology, Watson initially considered becoming a minister, but discovered he enjoyed working with technology while working part-time for AOL Ireland during his degree. "

And now Watson is gone they've suddenly found new funding to avoid the winding up order. Wonder if Mandy will stick around now.

That's a very flattering photo of him

r6 He claims to have been homeless for nine months at some point.

The vagueness and lack of a real career history before suddenly appearing in high management roles speaks for itself.

Pretty as a picture. And Americans are sucked by the British accent.

by Anonymousreply 14September 10, 2024 12:01 AM

Oh, there’s definitely been some sucking going on… and a fair bit of fucking too…

Anthony Watson fascinates me as a Tom Ripley/Jeffrey Epstein social climber/manipulator.

He isn't just obsessed with wealth and power, he wants influence and control as well.

There's a reason he hooks up with trophy boys, because they can be easily bought and controlled. And before the Motel23 scandal he was totally open about it, sharing photos of all his different trophy boys as his guest at Ascot and other events deemed as high society by non British people.

There's a reason he has used his wealth to buy influence in the Labour Party and Britain's LGBT media circuit.

There's a lot more to come out about how this young man with no connections ingratiated himself into the business world.

In this Irish article from 2016, it says he went to Trinity College in Dublin. It refers to him as 'Michael O'Leary of the financial services industry’ who is Irish but then makes odd reference that Watson is ‘British born’. Watson’s Wiki alludes to his career start in Ireland (and nothing before that) but also makes note of his nationality as British. It seems he really wants people to know he’s British.

In his prior employment, he was always known for his personal style branding especially his penchant for colourful and patterned socks. I have to give it to him, he’s always used an influencer type approach (even before it was a thing) to get his name out there and rise. He’s really no less credible than Oxbridge types who are usually where they are based solely on connections.

Thank you. But if he graduated Trinity College, how come it is never listed in his CVs anywhere, NOW. Trinity is Ireland's top college and top 100 in the world on some lists. It's a fine credential.

Did he flunk out and once lie about "graduate of Trinity" ? And now is avoiding that lie?

by Anonymousreply 18September 10, 2024 9:51 AM

Agreed. I can’t think why anyone would omit Trinity College from their profile or CV. It’s a fine institution.

R18 Agreed. I cannot think to why anyone would omit Trinity College from their public profile. It’s a fine institution.
