The opening where she's stopping traffic reminds me of Divine walking down the street while "Girl Can't Help It" plays.

It's like a Northern English version of Good Times.

Was this ever broadcast in the USA?

by Anonymousreply 5September 9, 2024 1:35 AM

Everyone should buy this on DVD.

Is this Hun culture?

by Anonymousreply 7September 9, 2024 2:00 PM

R7, yes

I watched about two episodes of this after reading about it on DL a few years ago and loved them. I need to watch more!

by Anonymousreply 9September 9, 2024 9:28 PM

R9, yes they are great

by Anonymousreply 10September 9, 2024 9:35 PM

The first episode was very cute. I'll definitely watch more. Diana was really in her element.

R1 absolutely spot on. I know it’s unlikely, but that opening shot and the fatter campy Diana Dors of the 70’s could almost have been used as a template for John Walters and Divine. Absolutely brilliant.

by Anonymousreply 12September 10, 2024 1:42 PM

R11 in the first series only the first two episodes are in colour, the other four are in black and white.

Apparently there was an ITV colour strike at the time. There was non stop strikes in the UK in the early 70’s..

by Anonymousreply 13September 10, 2024 1:46 PM

Was it a hit then?

by Anonymousreply 14September 10, 2024 5:47 PM

Someone is really vested in this Dors woman.

Hilarious scene
