Which Republican Heavyweight is Going to Endorse Harris Next?

This is a fun game.

So far, Dick Cheney, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Bill Weld, Christine Todd Whitman, Chuck Hagel, Stephanie Grisham, and Anthony Scaramucci have all endorse Kamala Harris and called Trump a threat to Democracy.

Who is next?

by Anonymousreply 115September 30, 2024 3:53 PM

Attila the Hun.

You're gross.

by Anonymousreply 1September 7, 2024 2:13 AM

Dick Cheney just announced that he is voting for Kamala Harris and he said Trump should never be allowed to hold office again. Is that, " heavyweight" enough?

by Anonymousreply 2September 7, 2024 2:15 AM

The Bushies.

by Anonymousreply 3September 7, 2024 2:15 AM

Sorry, The post with the names wasn't showing when I posted. R2 here. Wondering though. Karl Rove is a whore. He may be helping senate candidate. Romney, Rice or the Bushes maybe.

by Anonymousreply 4September 7, 2024 2:19 AM

Not Taylor Swift

by Anonymousreply 5September 7, 2024 2:21 AM

I'm deeply surprised Romney hasn't already. I thought he would be the first.

by Anonymousreply 6September 7, 2024 2:21 AM

It does not matter. Every living president, republican and democrat endorsed Hillary.

by Anonymousreply 7September 7, 2024 2:22 AM

They don't come any heavier or weightier than Megan McCain!

None of the above.

And I’m not the least bit surprised about Mitt.

by Anonymousreply 16September 7, 2024 4:02 AM

Melania Trump.

by Anonymousreply 17September 7, 2024 4:05 AM

Mitt Romney is too much of an asshole to endorse Kamala.

by Anonymousreply 21September 7, 2024 2:38 PM

William Howard Taft.....

by Anonymousreply 22September 7, 2024 3:07 PM

Op, there’s no Republican heavier than Dick Cheney. Everyone on your list is middle to light weight.

by Anonymousreply 23September 7, 2024 4:51 PM

I'm still trying to figure out why Chris Christie hasn't endorsed her, particularly since he was so adamant about the dangers of a second DT term when he was running against him. Of course, that was probably just all talk and bluster.

by Anonymousreply 24September 7, 2024 4:54 PM

Chris Christie is a fence sitter. He doesn't have enough guts to fully denounce Trump/endorse Harris because he wants to stay on the good graces of his some of fellow Republicans. He's basically a fat white male version of Nikki Haley.

by Anonymousreply 25September 7, 2024 5:50 PM

Christie is the consummate opportunist. Also a huge Trump enabler. Right now he is probably busy trying to scrape Trump's bullshit off his face. Interesting that in 2020 he was Trump's debate coach and this time Tulsi is doing the honors.

Rex Tillerson called Trump “A fucking idiot” when he quit his cabinet post. It wouldn’t surprise me if he came out with more details.

by Anonymousreply 29September 7, 2024 7:12 PM

Let's not forget his cabinet members who are not supporting him:

Mike Pence

Rex Tillerson

Jim Mattis

John Kelly

H.R. McMaster

Gary Cohn

Kirstjen Nielson

Don McGahn

Dan Coats

Elaine Cho

Scott Pruitt

Tim Price

John Bolton

Mark Esper

Gina Haspel

Betsy DeVos

Sonny Perdue

Alex Azar

David Shulkin

Dan Brouillette

Deborah Birx

Nikki Haley was forced to say she's voting for him

by Anonymousreply 30September 7, 2024 7:30 PM

Yeah, Chris Christie is still hoping Trump will kick the bucket.

by Anonymousreply 31September 7, 2024 7:42 PM

Other interested parties of the past and present not endorsing Trump:

Jeb Bush

Bill Cassidy

Mitt Romney

Paul Ryan

John Kasich

Mike Gallagher

Lisa Murkowski

Susan Collins

Phil Scott

Larry Hogan

Judd Gregg

Rob Portman

Olympia Snowe

George Pataki

Scott Brown

Kelly Ayotte

Richard Burr

Charlie Baker

by Anonymousreply 32September 7, 2024 7:48 PM

Robert Gates also does not endorse Trump

by Anonymousreply 33September 7, 2024 7:53 PM

Really why does anyone care whether these assholes endorse Harris or not? They can never undo all the damage they've done.

I can't believe I'm saying this but Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger are the only two heavyweights who really stuck their necks out. And they both lost their jobs because of it. I might disagree with them on everything under the sun but I can respect them for that.

by Anonymousreply 34September 7, 2024 7:58 PM

IMO, the most important point Liz Cheney made when she announced her support of VP Harris, was that we do not have the luxury of voting 3rd party, or writing in someone's name. In order to deal with the threat Trump poses, we need to vote for Harris period. So she went beyond the traditional endorsement.

by Anonymousreply 35September 7, 2024 8:01 PM

All of these spineless wonders should grow a backbone and come out and endorse Harris.

by Anonymousreply 36September 7, 2024 9:53 PM

General David Petraeus is not supporting Trump

by Anonymousreply 37September 7, 2024 11:40 PM

General Stanley McChrystal is not endorsing Trump

by Anonymousreply 38September 8, 2024 12:19 AM

My fat daughter said she would loudly (as if there any other way with her) support Harris if she promised to throw Joy Behar in a Supermax prison on Day 1.

That heifer can hold a grudge.

by Anonymousreply 39September 8, 2024 12:30 AM

[quote]General David Petraeus is not supporting Trump

[quote]General Stanley McChrystal is not endorsing Trump

These cowardly generals need to come out and endorse Harris...not simply "not endorse" or "not support" Trump

by Anonymousreply 40September 8, 2024 12:34 AM

Their only value is sort of giving permission to independents leaning Republican who were possibly Nikki Haley supporters and others who were going to sit it out, to go ahead and vote for Harris. I am worried that there'll be a backlash of people who will say they're voting for Harris but won't. She keeps saying he is t he underdog and that tells me her internal polling shows it's closer than we think. So get out here and keep working. We cannot afford to overlook one single thing.

by Anonymousreply 41September 8, 2024 1:47 AM

Maybe Kamala and Tim will make some cold calls, get a few more onboard.

by Anonymousreply 42September 8, 2024 2:08 AM

Trump wanted to give to Walz campaign after he saw him speak and his team had to tell him Coach Tim is the opposition, many people are saying.

by Anonymousreply 43September 8, 2024 2:20 AM

Many who believe Trump might put them in Gitmo. It’s either revenge or self preservation

by Anonymousreply 44September 8, 2024 2:24 AM

"Not endorsing" by proclamation Trump is not the equivalent of endorsing Harris.

Betsy Prince DeVos, for example, would NEVER endorse a Democrat.

So the lists at r30 and r32 are meaningless.

by Anonymousreply 45September 8, 2024 2:28 AM

If Nimrata had even a shred of integrity she would not have backed Trump and would be endorsing Harris/Walz, given everything she said about Trump during her campaign. Her endorsement of Orange Julius just makes everything she said (including her teary rebuke when Trump bad-mouthed her deployed husband) ring hollow and proves what a careerist phony she is. Any Haley voter with a modicum of self respect should vote for Harris/Walz as a big fuck you to that fraudulent, self-serving cunt.

by Anonymousreply 46September 8, 2024 11:40 AM

Marry me r46

by Anonymousreply 47September 8, 2024 12:10 PM

Dick Cheney is a war criminal.

by Anonymousreply 48September 8, 2024 12:55 PM

The Bushes may very well vote for her, but they wouldn't be public about it. George is busy painting. Laura is enjoying white wine spritzers on the veranda.

I could see Rice or Romney doing it. None of the others.

by Anonymousreply 49September 8, 2024 1:22 PM

We all are, R31

by Anonymousreply 50September 8, 2024 1:43 PM

IIRC, didn’t the Bush women all come out public ally for Hillary in 2016?

by Anonymousreply 51September 8, 2024 1:43 PM

Lissen. All these people come with baggage. Now, Liz Cheney took the path t o redemption by losing her position in leadership in the House and by serving as co-chair of the Insurrection hearings and the impeachment stuff. So when she comes out with her endorsement, it has heft. And we can overlook her previous record in welcoming her into the tent. But that doesn't apply to her father. Her father comes with a lot of baggage. We will see a lot of these endorsements, but very few of them will have earned a place inside the tent. In fact, in some instances we can say, "No thanks." I don't think Kamala needs to express gratitude for Dick Cheney.

by Anonymousreply 52September 8, 2024 1:53 PM

My point is Liz paid a price for going against Trump and against her party. Adam Kinzinger paid a price. HAs anyone else ?

by Anonymousreply 53September 8, 2024 1:54 PM

It’s my understanding that the military do not publicly voice political opinions.

Dick Cheney understands that the Republican Party will be tainted by Trump for another decade if he gets elected. They got what they wanted, a right wing Supreme Court. Now he wants them to go back to a traditional Republican stance and the MAGAs can go back to the trailer park and never vote again.

Bush Jr has nothing to lose by declaring for Harris.

by Anonymousreply 54September 8, 2024 3:42 PM

Has Toomey been mentioned yet? He endorsed Harris and said he'll vote for her a few days ago.

by Anonymousreply 55September 8, 2024 4:04 PM

and then Trump and Fox News just declare them RINOs and move on.

In what sense would it be the "kiss of death," R62? He's rich, he's old, he's already persona non grata in the GOP and he's never going to run again. What does he have to lose?

Whether it was lessons from his father, memories of his own Administration, or plain decency, George W. Bush refuses to comment on current and former presidents.

Look. I'm over these endorsements. WTF do they mean. Is it just some simpe announcement or are these fuckers going to work to get Kamala elected? I want to know are they raising money, cutting commercials, are they going to speaking engagements for her? WTF is the value of these public endorsements beyond the one shot announcements?I know where Kinzinger and Liz stand. But the rest of them the value has yet to be determined.

by Anonymousreply 72September 9, 2024 1:59 AM

R69 I bet Kinzinger is fixing to run for governor in Texas in 2026. He'd been a shoe in for it if so.
