Mike Farrell
Known for portraying Captain B.J. Hunnicutt on the American television show M*A*S*H for eight years, he is one of the few actors to have avoided the "sitcom curse," maintaining a versatile career.
Since the show ended in 1983, he has acted in or produced a wide range of projects, including Dominick and Eugene, Sins of the Mind, Superman: The Animated Series, Patch Adams, Providence, Justice League, Desperate Housewives, The Red Road, and American Crime Story.
When not acting, he travels the country raising awareness on issues he is passionate about: civics, human rights, animal cruelty, the death penalty, the War on Terror, science, cult awareness, and literacy.
Mike Farrell is truly a class act and deserving of an appreciation thread.

Just for once, can't he be Thelma Ritter?

He married Ms. Romano's nemesis, Francine. She was really good at playing an office cunt.

He played one of Cunanan's victims (the gay husband of shopping channel icon Marilyn Miglin) in the Versace miniseries.

I wouldn’t be a bit surprised, R7!
While I’m here - oh-dearing myself for not picking up on autocorrect changing gayling to galling.

R8 Yes, the kind, gentle, and elegant Lee Miglin. Miglin started by selling pancake batter out door to door and ended up becoming a Chicago real estate titan. Miglin gave back to Chicago, too.
So tragic.

I always liked him as Milton Lang, the uber wealthy father of John Slattery in Desperate Housewives

I always felt tingly when they’d show him shirtless, or in the shower, or wearing a loosely tied robe around the tent.

R15 if only there was a tool where you could type in a name such as "Mike Farrell" and it would return information about that person, place or thing.
You could call it Google!

Sorry. Sounds like a nice guy, but I found him boring. And all the other one-episode work he did on TV series over the decades just kind of blends together.

Diane Arbus’ husband quit photography and got a role on MASH. Was he decent on it?
I never watched that show as a tot because it had no glamour. Just ferns and mud.

Was sad to hear about his sister, Sharon's passing away last year.
Really talented family.
His children, fraternal twins Terry & Perry.
And, of course, his overseas nephew Colin.

He was really good as the Chicago architect that was murdered by Andrew Cunanan. He played a Closet case married to the TV shopping network lady who sold make up. She knew.

The MASH theme song has always irked me. IS suicide painless?? I suspect not.

[italic]Through early morning fog, I see / Visions of the things to be / The pains that are withheld for me / I realize and I can see / That suicide is painless / It brings on many changes / And I can take or leave it if I please

I remember watching and liking M*A*S*H as a kid (even though I think a lot of it went over my head) but I can barely stand it now when I’ve tried to watch the reruns.

It’s all related to the context of the movie. The John Shuck character (remember John Shuck?) is going to commit suicide but everybody knows it’s just pretend. So when the song is being sung, yes suicide is painless, because the character isn’t actually committing suicide.

My only appearance on the stage was the Fall Play—senior year of high school in 1978–where I came out of nowhere to win the role of Lt. Col. Henry Blake in a “sMASH” hit production of the stage “adaptation” of the film version. I won rave reviews for my powdered hair and fish lures in my bucket hat.

Mike has been a gay ally for years. In a PEOPLE magazine interview in the seventies, he and his then wife said that people thought that he was gay. He pretty much shrugged off the rumors.
