Looks stupid and Travis Kelce is not attractive. He doesn’t have the face for TV. Sorry.
“Grotesquerie”- trailer for Ryan Murphy’s new show
by Anonymous | reply 203 | December 12, 2024 11:18 PM |
You're sorry, OP?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | September 4, 2024 10:55 PM |
The trailer is more than enough to convince me not to watch this one.
The presence of Travis Kelce is just a bonus reason to skip this.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 4, 2024 11:14 PM |
The priest tho…
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 4, 2024 11:18 PM |
I get a shiver in my quiver just thinking about it.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 4, 2024 11:58 PM |
Why would anyone need to see this?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 5, 2024 12:15 AM |
No thank you.
I think Travis Kelce is hot as fuck, however.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 5, 2024 12:24 AM |
Niecy Nash proved herself by stealing every frame of Dahmer and earned her Emmy. I'll watch for her and Nick Chavez of course.

I’m calling it now - the nun did it.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 5, 2024 12:37 AM |
Travis has more gravitas than I was expecting.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 5, 2024 12:53 AM |
He doesn’t have a cute face at all.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 5, 2024 12:56 AM |
I hate it when they make the main star seem unreliable and announce it in the trailer. I don't want to invest time in a show that won't end up surprising me at all.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 5, 2024 1:40 AM |
I'm a big Nicholas Chavez fan, but nothing about this show makes me want to watch it. Not even Chavez playing the priest.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 5, 2024 1:47 AM |
Looks good, actually
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 5, 2024 3:44 AM |
This hits every horror cliche in the book. A must to avoid, a time-waster where the goal of each episode is simply to get you to watch next week. At the end of it you will be no more enlightened, delighted or entertained than you would be if you just skipped it.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 5, 2024 4:08 AM |
Can someone just MeToo Murphy and get him cancelled, already?

Those are my FAVORITE protagonists! The flawed, selfish, despairing, broken mess who can only redeem themselves by finding and stopping a greater evil.

He's in a Speedo in "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story".
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 7, 2024 5:36 PM |
Ryan Murphy's participation makes it a hard pass for me, tbh. Something about his work and his tawdry, "provocative", tabloidy exploitation of gay narrative is never as good as he thinks it is.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 18, 2024 3:17 PM |
r26 His stuff always starts out good but he can never tie off an ending. It's like he writes "this will be cool oh and this too" and then realizes he has one episode to tie up 30 storylines. The last Horror Story was such a shit show in the last episode.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 18, 2024 3:27 PM |
Recently rewatched the very first season of AHS and all the Murphy red flags were there already. He's someone who back then would have really benefited from the current trend of six or eight episodes per season because he loses focus when he has to work with more than that.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 18, 2024 3:39 PM |
Ryan Murphy is the Stephen King of tv.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 18, 2024 3:41 PM |
Ryan Murphy gets paid handsomely to make the same two shows over and over.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 18, 2024 3:49 PM |
Kelce is hot as fuck. What is wrong with you people? He's not "cute." He's a handsome man.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 18, 2024 3:56 PM |
Does this show have gay male characters? If not I don't care.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 18, 2024 4:35 PM |
A Ryan Murphy show, R32? Surely. But it'll be mediocre and just another piece of crap off the old RM car wash. I'd rather a show be good than shore up some dude he wants to bang, but alas...
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 18, 2024 6:27 PM |
Anybody watch the two-episode premiere? It was pretty good—less manic and more character-driven than American Horror Story gotten.
Bonus: a couple of fairly lingering shots of Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s ass in episode 2.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 26, 2024 6:11 AM |
I don’t understand the Nurse Redd character… or I guess her “look”. She looks out of place. She kind of annoys me, too. Then there’s the 600 Pound Life story arc with the daughter. I’m kind of wondering if Murphy is ripping off Seven. But if we get Goop’s head in a box again, I’m okay with that.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 26, 2024 11:26 AM |
Father Chavez, fuck me for I have sinned…
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 26, 2024 11:42 AM |
Agreed it's not a trailer that makes me want to watch even though it's subject matter (hunting a psycho killer) is appealing. Nonetheless, I'll likely tune in for Nash. Ryan Murphy's work almost always follows the same trajectory: strong start, interesting ideas, visually compelling, and then it all falls apart as it meanders meaningless as if the actors are just improvising as they go along. By the end, little of it makes any sense.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 26, 2024 1:02 PM |
[quote]I don’t understand the Nurse Redd character… or I guess her “look”.
I think she's a new version of Nurse Ratched, only more self absorbed.

by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 26, 2024 11:31 PM |
There’s enough perversity and sadism in the world without me inviting it into my living room. Disgusted am I with America’s fascination with crime. No wonder we’re desensitized to it. I don’t care if some sexy bear is the show’s Rod Serling. What’s next? A wax museum in London celebrating the slaughter of Sharon Tate? So over this CRAP. Can’t we have shows about a county fair? Or how we cleaned up the air? How everybody learned to care? Can’t everybody love everybody in the good old USA?

Ryan Murphy cast an unknown General Hospital actor to co-lead the second season of his highly publicized and popular Monster series and immediately cast him in this show too?
Casting couch, anyone? Is Chavez his new Darren Criss now that Criss has probably aged out of being his go-to fuck for a role?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 27, 2024 10:09 PM |
Thankfully Chavez ass is not as saggy as Galitzine's
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 27, 2024 10:15 PM |
What does Chavez have to do with Galitzine? Are they blood related?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 27, 2024 10:18 PM |
R51 your legs and ass are 90% muscle memory. You inherit your ass through genetics. Chavez and Galitzine have no blood relation so what one inherited has nothing to do with the other.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 27, 2024 10:29 PM |
R53 I was just about to point this out. I was confused why that poster would bring up Galitzine as if they have any relation. Does he think we all have the same ass?
by Anonymous | reply 54 | September 27, 2024 10:32 PM |
Chavez is also Hispanic. They tend to be built a little better than the average WASP.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | September 27, 2024 10:35 PM |
He is from Houston, Texas but moved to Denver when he was a kid after his parents divorced. He went to Rutgers University in NJ for two years before deciding to drop out of college and moved to LA to pursue his acting career. He ended up having to leave LA and moved in with his father during the pandemic. Afterwards he sent an audition tape for a role in General Hospital and they got back to him and he ended up getting the part. His only other credit is a Tubi movie.
He didn’t even have an agency before recently so I do wonder how he landed a huge role like Lyle Menéndez. Me thinks he used his ASSet we see at r51 to get it.

I like him a lot. He’s not only super attractive but seems like a very humble and intelligent young man and hard working.
I was watching an interview he did and they asked him what it was like being transported back to that era for the show and he said it’s every actors dream to do a period piece at some time and my mouth dropped. It hit me that the 90s are now a fucking period piece! We are getting old.
He was born in 1999 so he wasn’t even alive for any of it.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | September 27, 2024 11:15 PM |

R70 no. But it’s diabolical to compare Chavez to a man more than twice his age and to compare him to an actor he has never worked with and has to relation to in any way. You are comparing apples to steaks, not even oranges.

by Anonymous | reply 74 | September 28, 2024 8:08 AM |
I never sat and watched Chavez on GH but saw moments because my mother watches it. He left the show though but I know his character was in a relationship with a black girl and the show kept putting them up front and center, being a young interracial couple. I know General Hospital fans all say the same thing, when they watched him on the show they knew he wouldn’t be on the show long term because he is a “star”. He has that IT “star” quality and stood out like a sore thumb on GH because he feels like he belongs on primetime and not a daytime soap. You can even see comments like this in the comments section to the video of him winning the Daytime Emmy in 2022.
So it’s not shocking to GH watchers who know who he is that he’s on the rise and the face of a major show right now.

I’m in, R79. I really liked the first two episodes. Much more character-driven than your usual AHS nonsense, and the whole cast is sensational. (We’ll see about Kelce.)
by Anonymous | reply 80 | September 29, 2024 11:18 PM |

R79 I’m accepting it as reality for now but I love how heightened the murders are. It can’t just be one person…
by Anonymous | reply 82 | September 29, 2024 11:31 PM |
So Ryan Murphy still has it in him to create good shows (Monsters was very well done and this one looks promising) so then why the hell did he let AHS go to shit?
I guess he does have a habit of losing interest in his shows after few seasons.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | September 29, 2024 11:34 PM |

That last supper murder scene of homeless people was intense.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | September 30, 2024 3:00 AM |

Lmao it’s one story.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | October 1, 2024 4:36 PM |
r89 yes I know but it feels like there are three different stories going on. I am sure In true Murphy style he will tie them all together on the last episode in 20 minutes but to me it feels disjointed.

Or maybe the Aaron Spelling of weird.
I'm not sure which is worse.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | October 3, 2024 4:48 AM |
Murphy has bizarre ideas. If you watch Nip/Tuck you saw the beginnings. Like giving the jailed son tits so his cell mate won't kill him.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | October 3, 2024 7:41 PM |
Ryan Murphy is dumber, trashier version of Stephen King at this point. Watchable and diverting, but narratively as a logical as a four year old's "and then" story and as satisfying as one potato chip.

by Anonymous | reply 102 | October 3, 2024 10:55 PM |
R102 he’s gorgeous. That ass is top tier.
I’m loving the series. I found episodes 3 and 4 phenomenal, especially 4. Those final 10-15 minutes on the road were amazing. The final minute with the woman appearing in the heavy dust/smoke made me jump, and then her screaming he’s coming and you can’t see anything because of the heavy dust/smoke made my heart race. Great way to end the episode. Looking forward to next week.

just wrote on the other thread. By episode 3 I realized the great quality of this series is that it is completely transgressive. Amusingly so. The theatrical murders are the least well done part of the series. They are beyond derivative of other serial killer "entertainments". The drinking and the over eating and Catholic shenanigans are wonderful fuck yous. There is some really good use of music and some of the settings are well done trashy and gritty. I really didn't like Nancy at the start but now I like what she's doing and how Murphy is using her.

I suspect that somehow her husband is ultimately behind it.

by Anonymous | reply 116 | October 10, 2024 11:12 PM |
I love this series! Gurl Niecy and Travis have me glued to the screen. The priest and nun subplot is secondary. I know women just like the daughter highly intelligent but wrapped up in a food addiction. The gore is a little much but that particular producer really keys into the subconscious fears we all have. I think it would be awesome if Taylor Swift did a cameo appearance as an ex girlfriend of Travis' and gets into and old fashioned ghetto beat down with Niecy. You know like that fight on dynasty between Linda Evans and Joan Collins ?
by Anonymous | reply 117 | October 11, 2024 2:22 PM |
r117 definitely isn’t watching if he claims Travis has him glued to the screen.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | October 11, 2024 3:00 PM |
The show has gone from. HMM what are they doing to WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? How did they get to the middle of nowhere with a giant firehole in the ground, to the motel from hell with the invulnerable rapist and wife beaters to baby harvesting and women being milked like cows? Like how the hell do all these people disappear an no one reports them? Then to top it off she kills "someone" we are to expect is the killer pulls the mask off and they cut to the credits without showing. And the nurse with the vodka telling her she was in love with her husband and she pulls a gun and says she will kill her but had no issues with her jacking him off while in a coma??
by Anonymous | reply 119 | October 13, 2024 6:07 PM |
“Then to top it off she kills "someone" we are to expect is the killer pulls the mask off and they cut to the credits without showing.“
I have to ask, how old are you that you don’t know what a cliffhanger ending is? Shows have been doing this since Dallas did it with “Who Shot JR?” over 40 years ago. This is not a new concept. They didn’t show you so you have to tune into the next episode to see who it was. Every show does this.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | October 13, 2024 6:18 PM |
I liked the nun. I thought Travis did a fine job. The priest was beyond weird and not in a good way. I think I left the priest wearing see thru nightclothes and leathers while he danced in the church. Something like that.
If someone would post how it ends I won’t have to finish it. If not I will bite the bullet someday.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | October 13, 2024 6:37 PM |
R120 I know what a cliffhanger is, I also know what a cheap stunt is. That was a cheap stunt. Especially how bizarre thee one episode was, we needed at least some payoff. It will not even be the real killer anyway.

I'm thinking that Niecey's husband isn't really in a coma. The nurse has a very 40s-50s hairstyle and that is not what intubation devices look like now. I'm guessing that's her Dad and her daugther is actually her as a young girl. The difference is the daughter has a food addiction and Niecey is an alcholic. I'll be watching episodes 5 and 6 today. I just started watching yesterday.

Every series is an “acquired taste”
by Anonymous | reply 132 | October 15, 2024 1:50 PM |
I thought that extended suspense sequence at the motel at the beginning of episode 5 was a lot of fun. It appeared to be done in one take, although I’m sure there was some digital trickery.
by Anonymous | reply 133 | October 15, 2024 2:13 PM |
That motel should have its own series. I couldn't tell what was going on though. Who was shooting at them, etc?
by Anonymous | reply 134 | October 15, 2024 2:30 PM |
That’s why people think it’s all in her head r134. Tons of theories
by Anonymous | reply 135 | October 15, 2024 3:42 PM |
R128 - those types of theories make sense. There’s something with the nurse looking and acting like she’s out of the 40s, and the scenes with her are isolated- no one else is in them that I can recall. That nurse also said earlier on something to the effect that people in a coma can hear you talking to them. The murders could be symbolic of something and not actually occurring.
by Anonymous | reply 136 | October 15, 2024 3:42 PM |
The daughter is also isolated and never leaves the house. She literally only interacts with her mother and eats.
The only other character who interacted with her daughter is Travis Kelce, and he appeared out of nowhere, like an angel.
by Anonymous | reply 137 | October 15, 2024 3:46 PM |
Maybe her husband is the killer, she found out, and he tried to kill her, leaving her in a coma. The other odd thing is including a nun in your whole investigation. That wouldn’t happen in reality.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | October 16, 2024 12:35 AM |
I am beginning to beleive it is Nash as well. The scene where they discover all the hookers and homeless people. She knew every one of them. She pointed them out by name and was almost angry the other police could not see them. Her level of drinking insane. What detective could walk up to a crime scene swigging from a flask? What happened to the FBI? In one episode she was told they were taking over, I think It is a matter of split personality. Grotesquerie is her alter ego.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | October 16, 2024 6:15 PM |
You can tell NAC loved playing Father Charlie. Good for him. He actually cracked a smile while discussing the character. That’s like a first in one of his recent interviews lol. He never smiles.

by Anonymous | reply 141 | October 17, 2024 7:23 AM |
Kind of a couple twists… one was speculated on, the other happened right at the end.

I need to watch it after work. I watch it on Thursday afternoons
by Anonymous | reply 143 | October 17, 2024 2:35 PM |
I heard they only did one episode this week and next week goes back to 2
by Anonymous | reply 144 | October 17, 2024 2:36 PM |
This week was originally supposed to be 2 episodes and then next week was supposed to be the final 2 episodes but they decided to drop 1 episode this week, 2 next week and then the finale the following week because the shows been doing better than they expected.

Not to disrupt this thread, but I see the second half of S3 of American Horror Stories is online, now. I forgot they were even going to be on.
by Anonymous | reply 146 | October 17, 2024 3:23 PM |
R146 I didn’t even know it was on. I’ve seen no one talk about it. All anyone is talking about is Monsters and this show.
by Anonymous | reply 147 | October 17, 2024 3:56 PM |
R140, it’s a turn-on that he was so clearly excited about the sexually forward aspects of the role.
by Anonymous | reply 148 | October 17, 2024 4:08 PM |
Agreed r148. I think it’s hot that loves the idea of a man weaponizing his sexuality and attractiveness for a change.
by Anonymous | reply 149 | October 17, 2024 5:02 PM |
Episode 7 was bizarre and fascinating. I was intrigued the entire episode.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | October 17, 2024 9:07 PM |
What we’ve seen so far is what’s going on in Lois’s head while in a coma. We saw her coma world.
This episode showed us what’s going on in the real world. Lois woke up at the end so now it will be real world from now on.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | October 18, 2024 12:24 AM |
Any narrative where half or more is set entirely in one person's mind has to work hard to convince me that the time spent on that is worthwhile. At this point, I'm not so sure Grotesquerie has earned that, but it has a little time left to prove itself. At this point, we don't even know in any detail what she was investigating or what events in her supposed real life resulted in her being in a coma.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | October 18, 2024 3:42 AM |
And that’s what we will learn in the next 2 episodes before the finale
by Anonymous | reply 153 | October 18, 2024 6:44 AM |
What a shit ending.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | October 18, 2024 5:42 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 155 | October 18, 2024 7:36 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 156 | October 18, 2024 11:20 PM |
There are 3 episodes left. Next week we get episodes 8 and 9 and then the following week we get the finale
by Anonymous | reply 157 | October 18, 2024 11:23 PM |
I hate twists like this. Okay, it was all a dream but whole scenes took place without Neicy Nash. Most typical dreams involve the dreamer. All the scenes with the nun and the priest, the priest and the bishops the police chief and the other cops. It's an okay plot twist but I will be curious about how it evolves.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | October 20, 2024 2:16 AM |
R158 it’s a tv show. Not a documentary.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | October 20, 2024 2:25 AM |
r159 no I get that..just how do you do eight episodes of a dream and develop characters who will not be the same in the last three?
by Anonymous | reply 160 | October 21, 2024 12:14 AM |
I enjoyed it. One of many people’s theories was that Lois is the one really in a coma and making all this up in her head. So some people nailed that.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | October 21, 2024 12:33 AM |
Omg the finale has me so confused
by Anonymous | reply 164 | October 31, 2024 4:47 AM |
I dug the finale—it’s ambiguous but what it suggests is very disturbing.
by Anonymous | reply 165 | October 31, 2024 4:57 AM |
I liked it r165. I actually liked the series as a whole. I found it interesting and Murphy’s most ambitious output in years. The ending was just so bizarre.
I’m assuming Lois truly is just psycho and making up the case in her head all over again
by Anonymous | reply 166 | October 31, 2024 5:07 AM |
R166, see I think…
[SPOILERS]
…Lois’s shrink shared his recordings with the men’s group, who staged the murder scene at the church based on her coma vision. They used it as an opportunity to get rid of people who wronged them, like the woman who accused Marshall of sexual assault. Because we saw Dr. Charlie walk out of the men’s group meeting in disgust, I assume they used it as an opportunity to get rid of him too.
by Anonymous | reply 167 | October 31, 2024 5:18 AM |
R167 interesting. I can see that. I just believe it’s all in her mind because of how Megan is able to get into the room she’s locked in. She just goes in, unlocks it and goes in. Then minutes later Lois is in her suit, hair done and makeup done, in the blink of an eye.
by Anonymous | reply 168 | October 31, 2024 10:18 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 172 | November 2, 2024 8:00 PM |
I just binged on this and I can say one of the better work of Murphy. And if I'm not mistaken, there's not a single gay character in this - is that a first for a Murphy series? I also thought the storyline wraps up in one season only a la AHS. That was my only complaint.
by Anonymous | reply 173 | November 12, 2024 1:07 AM |
R173 Niecy said they were talking about and planning season 2 before they even started filming season 1.
by Anonymous | reply 174 | November 12, 2024 1:30 AM |
I posted this on the NAC thread but now that I see this, it’s relevant to this show…..
I actually have some gossip. Nothing steamy but I know that a lot of scenes that Nicholas shot for Grotesquerie got left on the cutting room floor at the request of the shows lead. A few scenes starring Nicholas and Micaela Diamond were left out because the show was created as a vehicle for Niecy Nash (with 5 seasons planned with her as the lead) and while Ryan and Niecy and some other people from behind the scenes were watching back daily footage that was shot, they felt Nicholas was stealing the show. His performance and charisma was so strong that they felt he was stealing the attention of the shows lead easily and Niecy didn’t like that. At her request Ryan ended up cutting back his screentime by not including it in the final edits. That’s why his screentime is so limited despite being third billed.
Ryan offered him the role straight out after watching back footage from Monsters and he knew he found someone special who was gonna be a star. He himself said he had a future star on his hands and wasn’t letting that slip by. So for him to choose to not use a lot of his footage was definitely not for personal reasons but to appease the lead and make sure the show is Lois centered and focused at all times.
The irony is the show became a hit because so many people watched FOR NICHOLAS after watching Monsters. People were shocked by how little screentime he had after episode 3, being absent from two episodes completely and with about 2-4 minutes of screentime in every other epiaode post episode 3, which is the episode he had the most screentime in.
by Anonymous | reply 175 | November 12, 2024 1:49 AM |
Did you cum after posting that?
by Anonymous | reply 176 | November 12, 2024 11:54 AM |
Yeah I don’t buy this. NAC only joined the show after it had been filming for a few months. It anything, he has more screen time in episodes 2, 3, and 4 than the role merits.
It really is Niecy’s show; except for Micaela Diamond in the first few eps and Courtney B. Vance in the last couple, everyone else sort of pops in once per episode. (Or less, in Kelce’s case.)
by Anonymous | reply 177 | November 12, 2024 6:48 PM |
Ok. That means what, r177? The poster said he shots scenes with Micaela that were cut. Meaning other footage exists we haven’t seen. That happens ALL THE TIME.
Some episodes are barely 40 minutes long without commercials. That tells me shit was cut out.
by Anonymous | reply 178 | November 12, 2024 7:15 PM |
From the storyline, Nicholas' total screen time is just about right. I would be disappointed tho if the cut scenes are him naked.
by Anonymous | reply 179 | November 12, 2024 7:23 PM |
I believe r175 because they aren’t the first time I see this claim and the first time was from someone who worked as an assistant on set. The Sister Megan/Father Charlie subplot that is built in episodes 2-4 suddenly vanishes afterward. It was abrupt. Hardly even mentioned again.
by Anonymous | reply 180 | November 12, 2024 7:48 PM |
But there’s a very specific plot reason why that happens, R180. I’m sure scenes were cut—all shows have cut scenes—but I really doubt it was because Niecy felt NAC was stealing her thunder.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | November 12, 2024 8:13 PM |
Nicholas was following Niecy Nash but he’s the only cast member she never followed on Instagram. She followed everyone else but him.
He just unfollowed her yesterday.
by Anonymous | reply 182 | November 14, 2024 7:10 PM |
I just checked and yes he unfollowed her. I remember him following her. He still follows Micaela and Courtney though.
by Anonymous | reply 183 | November 14, 2024 8:47 PM |
I miss this show
by Anonymous | reply 184 | November 30, 2024 7:20 PM |
I watched four episodes and that was enough for me. There is always a moment in any Ryan Murphy series where it veers to really good or really campy. Grostesquerie was the later. After the murders in the first three episodes, the story just seemed to meander. The mood of the overwhelming darkness constantly mentioned never seemed materialize visually and it made me start to wonder if the writers didn't even know how to express it besides in exposition only. The third show was so dreamy, the nurses behaviour and hair so over the top and the Kielce relationship so unbelievable, I began to think the whole thing was a fever dream of the main characters. I was willing to go with that into the fourth episode, but we get this salacious nun, priest relationship that ultimately feels silly and an actual Thelma and Louise musical smack dab in the center. The story didn't move forward, just sideways for two episodes - which is way too many for a series with an eight episode arc. The acting is decent. I am rooting for Kelce's future. But the writing was just so general and over-reaching after a point, as if to run down the clock to some shocking conclusion. But no shocking conclusion would warrant what those two episodes made viewers sit through.
Just tell me, what happens?
by Anonymous | reply 185 | December 6, 2024 10:26 PM |
R185 I liked episodes 1-6 a lot. Episode 4 is my favorite episode.
In episode 7 you learn it is all a dream. The show then transitions to reality.
by Anonymous | reply 186 | December 6, 2024 10:31 PM |
Or does it?
by Anonymous | reply 187 | December 7, 2024 1:20 AM |
R186, that is what I would figure would happen. The whole thing is way too much a dreamscape for it to be reality. And the premise that she is constantly boozed up, except when she can't be, adds to all of that. It's that Ryan Murphy's writing tries too hard, overreaches, and it just falls flat. I call it his reindeer games after that horrible season of AHS set in NYC in the early 80s when he had Twinks dressed with horns parading about in the meat rack of Fire Island in some fantasia as a metaphor for pre aids sexual decadence. His nun, priest storyline was something straight out of Madonna's 1989 Like a Prayer video. Are we really supposed to be shocked by clergy members having sex? The entire storyline was just and excuse to lust after Nicholas Alexander Chavez and see his ass.
by Anonymous | reply 188 | December 8, 2024 10:50 PM |
Chavez is why most people watched. After Monsters people tuned into that for him. Including myself. There are still people in other countries watching now for him. He’s a star and he gave a compelling performance as Charlie.
R188 shocking? It was to show how sadistic and dark this Priest was. He wears assless chaps with red boots and does things he shouldn’t and then cries and whips himself as punishment. He wants to start an OnlyFans for Christians. He moonlights as a fitness instructor. He then fucks the good nun who is infatuated with him (as anyone would be). It’s all to show how fucked up he is.
In reality he’s a good guy (mostly).
by Anonymous | reply 189 | December 8, 2024 11:03 PM |
I know, r189, but all of those things are so cliche. Lets a put an unbelievably hot priest in chaps and turn him into a sex pervert who flogs himself bloody. How many times have we seen self-flagellation on screen before - over sex? It's a well-worn cinema trope and less than shocking at this point. You want something new? Turn him into meth head who gives the best sermons his life only when he is high as fuck. Or something different at least.
by Anonymous | reply 190 | December 8, 2024 11:17 PM |
R190 I like what we got more than what you just described.
“Over sex?” Well, yes. You must not be familiar with Catholicism if you can’t understand a PRIEST feeling guilty over sex.
by Anonymous | reply 191 | December 8, 2024 11:22 PM |
Chavez is a star. As many have stated, he has the aura and glow of a star with massive presence. He commands attention without trying. His name generates attention and interest.

by Anonymous | reply 194 | December 8, 2024 11:47 PM |
R191, I am sorry, but you are just not getting it. I went to Catholic school, I was taught by priest. I am not questioning why a priest might feel guilt over sex. That is not the point. The point is by the time Ryan Murphy put it on screen it had been done 100 times before him at this point and it is just BORING as hell to see, unimaginative. Like I said in my original post, it was a tired by the time Madonna did it for the 10th time in 1989 in her like a prayer video. Ryan Murphy is no Ken Russell.
by Anonymous | reply 195 | December 9, 2024 11:18 PM |
R195 NOTHING is original anymore. Nothing. Everything has been done. A Priest doing drugs isn’t original either. Please already. Maybe stop watching tv and go read.
by Anonymous | reply 196 | December 9, 2024 11:22 PM |
Anyway, r196, I am not a writer. I am not claiming to be. But Ryan Murphy who has a team of writers chose one of the most banal Catholic Church tropes to portray on screen. Tired.

That's not true R202. There are 50 million people who couldn't stand Donald Trump, and a good half of that couldn't stop talking about him. Anyway, I keep talking about it because I feel hoodwinked again my Ryan Murphy and I don't like it. I feel cheated by him again for something that started off so promising. So yes I continue to post waiting for someone to tell me how it ends so I don't have to watch it. It was a dream, or what?
