R9 In tandem with this…It can’t be repeated often enough and loudly enough that he came right out and said he had “every right to interfere” in the 2020 election. He’s admitted he lost AND admitted he tried to steal it, clear as day. You couldn’t hand the Harris campaign a better ad.

Nate Cohn—
Nationwide, Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump by three percentage points, 49 percent to 46 percent. Across the battleground states, the race is a dead heat. In every state and nationwide, the polling average is within 1.5 points of the result of the 2020 presidential election.”
“In short, the polls finally show the close election that analysts expected a year ago, before President Biden’s candidacy went off the rails.”

I'm starting to notice how she's - at least through vibes - attacking Donald from the right. This is what Donald did to Hillary in 2016, he disingenuously went left of her in his messaging because he realized that their base was unhappy. The small business tax credit plan, border hawk and tough on crime ads, more hawkish on foreign policy, etc. This was already smart, but as Donald flounders and starts endorsing weed and flip-flopping on abortion, it will pay off even more.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 5, 2024 1:45 PM |
Agreed r15, I noticed that as well. She and her team have been incredibly tactically smart so far. If she doesn't win in the end, it won't be from lack of effort or trying.

A vivid 'New York' cover indeed. A more than understandable none-too-subtle Beauty and Beast theme.
Kamala has the word 'joyous' juxtaposed with her flawless beaming smile, which the sane world knows to be genuine.
Trump's ear, by unnerving contrast, is placed right below Kamala's radiant mouth - and we are invited to peer into the former's controversial and hideous orifice, as though stumbling upon ugly niche porn.
Compounding this is ironic mention of Trump's 'soul', which we know to be absent, and replaced by the seven deadly sins.

Where are his tax returns?
Did Trump get $10 million from Egypt to stay in 2016 race?
Where are the missing classified documents?
What did Putin say in Helsinki?
Did Trump have an overt quid pro quo on the Stone, Bannon, and Manafort pardons?

During his 2024 campaign, Trump has raised this topic again, venting about the need to punish late-night comedians for giving “illegal” campaign contributions to the Democratic Party — in the form of jokes and on-air satire."

R132, women like Laura Loomer are full of self-hate. That’s the Trump Woman look: carved up with plastic surgery, glopped over with makeup and Botox.

R133 - L. Loomer looks like a low-rent Amanda Lapore and not in a good way. I watched MDL LA and that Tracy Tutor has those horrible duckbill lips (as did most of the women on that show) and it looks freakish to say the least. I get the low esteem factor but why look like a caricature of a human being. Nobody was every born with lips that could suck the juice out of 5 pounds of lemons from 10 feet away!

If she's got her deal locked down such that she can get out and doesn't have to wait for him to die [italic]and[/italic] she's had it, it would be a glorious revenge on the hideous old sea monster. The question becomes whether she cares about the publicity - should it continue - suggesting he's cheating on her with that. Hell hath no fury, all that...
I doubt Melania fucking off would cut into his base but it would be one more mess. Trump is messy. It's distasteful. The effect won't cause mass desertion but the undecided will surely look at all this cringey messiness and just go, give Harris a chance. Either that or stay home.
I think it's a game of attrition by increments and he's accomplishing as much for Harris as she is.
by Anonymous | reply 166 | September 13, 2024 4:24 PM |
I believe the plan all along has been for Vance to installed as POTUS, not Trump. JDV will then pardon him, which is all that Trump wants now, imo. Trump is mentally and physically declining and he is a lazy mf who just wants to cheat at golf all day, he just doesn't want to go to prison for his many crimes. Terrifying, isn't it?
by Anonymous | reply 167 | September 13, 2024 4:55 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 168 | September 13, 2024 4:57 PM |
My 6am thoughts:
JD Vance was the plan for President by the #HeritageFoundation all along.
It was NEVER about Trump.
Please realize that the Republicans are good at one thing — besides greed, racism and hatred — and it’s the long game for ultimate power.
I couldn’t figure out WHY that weirdo was SO cocky with his hatefulness.
It’s because he KNOWS HE will be President a month after a Trump inauguration.
25th Amendment, baby.
Also: The corrupt and bought Supreme Court created immunity for VANCE, not Trump.
What Vance and Thiel and the Heritage Foundation have planned will need it.
All Trump needs is a broad pardon that will keep him out of jail. Staying out of jail was his only goal in running.
He’s already got the secrets to sell to get more money.
Y’all better realize what’s actually happening and get everybody you know to vote #HarrisWalz!
You think a Trump Presidency is bad. Take 40 years off him and add more malevolent evil.
Vance also isn’t dumb.
He’s arrogant, unscrupulous & charm-free. But he’s not dumb.
Which makes Vance WAY more dangerous.

Everyone else needs to go vote for reps and senators and other races, there is no excuse to not do so, especially with mail in ballots.
We could potentially have a 7-2 Supreme Court, If Roberts, Alito and Thomas all die within the next 4 years all of the Republican justices would be appointed by Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 177 | September 13, 2024 5:30 PM |
I think the theory at R169 is accurate but Trump, even though addled, is aware of it. He said something recently about arresting a VP that tried to use the 25th Amendment. Also he threw Jaydine under the bus at the debate. He doesn't like or trust Jaydine. As drugged up and dementia addled as Trump is, never underestimate his reptilian-like ability to size up his enemies.

Former President Donald Trump said at a rally Wednesday that he would travel to Springfield, Ohio, the focal point of unsubstantiated claims targeting Haitian migrants, "in the next two weeks."
Trump has pushed baseless claims that Haitian migrants in the beleaguered Ohio city are eating pets, which have repeatedly been debunked. His running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, and the ticket's allies have also spread the lie. "You may never see me again, but that’s OK. Got to do what I got to do," Trump added. "'Whatever happened to Trump?' 'Well, he never got out of Springfield.'"
Springfield Mayor Rob Rue, a Republican, said at a news conference Tuesday that a visit from Trump "would be an extreme strain on our resources." "So it’d be fine with me if they decided not to make that visit," he said.

R225 - I've seen the Springfield Mayor and various other public officials interviewed and they are very hostile towards Trump and Vance who are causing incredibly serious problems in their city and state based on made up lies.
We all know that Springfield is going to end in the deaths of black people - likely multiple - whether they are Haitians or not. Various modern branches of the KKK have descended on Springfield and they are agitating. MAGA cult members will travel there to see the Trump Klan show and there will be violence. Guaranteed. Everyone involved will claim to be surprised but none of them will be. They will also claim that it was nothing to do with them and it will be specifically to do with them. Trump doesn't care because black people are sub-humans to him. Once he leaves, he will never think of the town of Springfield again.

Trump's supporters get off on stuff like that at r287 especially because they know its fake. The fakeness is a feature, not a bug.
At least 40% of Americans have arrested development, frat humor, juvenile, sophomoric (if it even reaches that) levels of immaturity. The "outrage" of the other (us) is what they get off on. It's an adult variation on when a kid pulls a prank just to see the reaction of the subject of it.
One thing Trump got right. He certainly knew to declare himself a Republican when he decided to run for the US Presidency.

It is my understanding that Trump's new GP is Ronny "Johnson" Jackson but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. If he is indeed his new GP, is it a tradition that presidents take the WH doctor when they leave the place. Because if it is not, it's quite astounding that not only Trump took the WH doctor with him but also chose a doctor that had just been demoted from admiral to captain for giving out uppers and downers like they were going out of fashion in DC.
Anyway, it's rather a rhetorical question as it's not like we don't know that Trump's unhinged disordered personality, exacerbated by cognitive decline and the judicial sword of Damocles that hangs over his comb-over, would explain his choice a Doctor Feelgood for GP. Trump probably need the benzos to take the edge off the amphetamines and then more amphetamines because he took too much of the benzos. Sad.

Nothing cloudy about his relationship with Donald at all.

Now how many days before his campaign starts to look like him? I think it started going pear-shaped the day Harris replaced Biden, but things like Mark Robinson and the horrible people he insists to endorse is going to speed up the pear-shaping process tremendously.
And while he was recently saying at a rally in NC that he knows Robinson "very well" and what a "great guy" he is and that he wished to live long enough to see MR become POTUS (remember: he was talking about someone who he knew had described themselves as a "black Nazi"), now suddenly he can't distance himself fast enough?
I hope Mark Robinson stays right up until election day and that Trump loses the state for having endorsed that piece of shit.

I've written down Trump's answer to a very specific policy question that he was ask during last week: can you guess what he's talking about?
Trump's answer******************
What we are going to do in this matter is going to be something very different and very spectacular, I think I can say, and I think that you are gonna love it. All the people around me say they absolutely love, so believe me when I say it, you're gonna love it too. I won't go quite yet into the specifics but I can tell you that, um, we've put all the best people in the advancement of this project and it's gonna be great, it's gonna be fantastic and, hum, no one had ever gone so far to solve the problems faced by the American people and this is what is need by the nation right now. I'm talking YUGE figures.
It's going to be the best policy since maybe Lincoln and when you think about it, you'd have to reach back as far as the Fondling Fathers. But yeah, it's going to be as great as great can be and I'm gonna love it, you're going to love it and everyone is gonna love it and I hope that what I'm saying right now is going to decide you to vote for me, your favorite president ever. I hope I can count on you and you know the alternative is the end of the United States, it's communist Kamala and her fascist policies, so forget about her and you have to vote for me, what do you have to lose, and I hope that this answers your question.
************* end of his answer
So can you guess if he's talking about :
1) energy (drill baby, drill)
2) child care (you've got to have it)
3) health care (I certainly have the concepts)
4) Tariffs (US debt solved in two years, it's a win-win!)
5) inflation (Biden gave us the worst inflation we've had in the history of the world)
6) Immigration (CONCENTRATION CAMPS like in good ol' time, the 1930s)
7) Forced trans surgery performed at school on your little boy, JIIIIMMMMAAAAYYYY
8) Side dishes ideas to complement dog meat and cat meat
9) any of the above, who cares, certainly not Dee, that's the only one generic answer he can still INarticulate these days.

Speaking of lies. I have a MAGA sister who I (mightily try to) avoid talking about politics (& the now related subject of science & medicine). Last night, in my presence, as I tried to wave her off, another relative rather incredulously asked my sister if she was still voting for Trump. Yes, my sister, said, gas was only $1.65 when he was president. Amazingly, THAT was her go-to explanation. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't let that go. I reminded her that that was during the peak of the pandemic, when there was no demand. Of course, she just shrugged that off. What I could have added was that, with everything closed, there was effectively no where to drive to enjoy the cheaper gas. And that the low price of gas coincided with 13% unemployment. And that $1.85, not $1.65, was how low, briefly, the price of gas got.
by Anonymous | reply 307 | September 21, 2024 6:34 PM |
In today's issue of trying to understand MAGA world, explain this.
I passed by a house last week with a Trump 2024 flag flying on a flagpole, and the flags of Israel, the USA and Ukraine mounted in the ground along a circular driveway. This was no shack, either. It was an expensive, higher-end house with a gate around the property in a nice neighborhood.
The US flag is a given. The GOP claims to be a friend of Israel so that wasn't a surprise, even though Trump continues to say awful things about Jewish Americans who don't support him. The Ukrainian flag is the one I don't understand. How can a Trumper claim to be pro-Ukraine when he's never stated any real support for them to win the war, maintain its territory and many in the GOP or opposed to sending additional funds to assist the country? We all know how he is has no problem cozying up to Putin, too.
Make ithat make sense.

"Muslim-American anger over the Biden administration’s support for Israel’s war on Gaza has become a concern for Democrats as they face razor-thin races in the battleground states.
"In a poll released by the Council on American-Islamic Relations in August, just 12 percent of Muslim voters in Michigan expressed support for Harris, with 18 percent backing Trump and 40 percent supporting the Green Party’s Jill Stein."
So it's Gaza.

The city of Hamtramck, on the outskirts of Detroit, Michigan, passed a Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) resolution on Tuesday, becoming the first US city to fully support a boycott campaign in support of Palestinian rights.
"Apparently, most of the American people are against the war but our government of course does not listen to the concern of the people," Hamtramck's mayor, Amer Ghalib, said.
In October last year, the city council called for a ceasefire and renamed one of its main streets "Palestine Avenue", as part of a symbolic display of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
Of course, Trump will give Israel the green light to wipe Gaza off the face of the map, so the mayor's recommendation makes no sense.

If Trump actually assembled the infrastructure for mass deportation, which would entail a lot more than most people can even begin to imagine, expect the meaning of “illegal” to start including people who are here illegally. And political opponents. When you build a machine, it needs constant fuel.

I've just been through a couple of interviews and highlights from his rallies and I have to ask myself: is Trump able to utter any kind of sentence without using at least a superlative or his favorite catchline "something something never seen before". I kid you not: You'll find at least five of those "the likes of which we've never seen before" or "to levels never seen before" and other superlatives per minute of meandering steam of what's left of consciousness.
I also found of interest the interview by Ari Melber of Robert Greene, the guy who said "Appearing better than others is always dangerous, but most dangerous of all is to appear to have no faults or weaknesses." and studied cults and their lifecycle. Greene says he is not surprised that trump is cranking up the rhetoric as cults have no other choice than always up the ante, especially *at the end*, when cults are about to implode, and people leaving the rallies early as it happened again in Long Island, NC, and especially in PA, is a sign that a significant fraction of the MAGA crowd, among the most hardened followers, are teetering on the brink of moving on.
I wished MAGA would implode before November 5th. Imagine the narcissistic injury that would inflict to the biggest narcissistic buffoon of the history of the world and former President / former Orange Jesus if it happened, the likes of which we've never seen before.

It's happened before and that was before Trump bleated out the conspiracies like this. He's going even further than the usual 4 chan rhetoric about white replacement. Tim Walz has so much insane material to drop in to the debate it's an embarrassment of riches. Except of course Trump is beyond embarrassment, which is a big part of his USP. He's through the looking glass, and into almost psychedelic inventive paranoia. JD has to defend this toxic nonsense!
Thankfully Pete will usefully deconstruct some of this for Coach Walz, so he can wonderfully re-emphasise Weirdness, and redouble his perfect understated adjective. But Trump's escalation of crazy indicates both that he thinks he could lose and doesn't much care, or that he's so assured of victory he can say anything. Or he sees no distinction. And, it's still only September.

We'll see. Walz said he himself is not a good debater, so I hope he's hunkering down with Pete as I type. He needs to be in attack mode, but not in attack dog mode like Kaine was in 2016, because that's too off-putting.

Sheridan Wyoming. OMG! That’s where every Indian Andrew Tate fan boy registers his dropshipping company. I worked in the fraud dep for that big payment processor that’s starts with a P. These guys would register with a “virtual office” in Sheridan then give us that address and pretend to be in the US. We would ask for proof of physical presence. They would go ballistic and threaten to fuck my sister. Eventually the algorithm flagged every Sheridan, WY address for a review.
The Ste 1200 in the address is just the virtual assess purchased. It doesn’t exist. Google the street address and you’ll see it associated with hundreds of companies, many which turned out to be scams. So he’s dealing with people looking for an easy buck, who registered a company in the quickest way possible but also in a way that is so unbecoming of a US president.
Just imagine if Kamala was flogging nails, weaves and sneakers out of a virtual mailbox shared by shonky dripshippers and scam websites. The NYT would have ran it on the front page.
by Anonymous | reply 429 | September 27, 2024 10:58 PM |
To add ^ It’s “mysteriously blurred” in a silly attempt to bypass KYC checks, though it doesn’t work. When the shonky guys overseas give their address they will insist it’s their private home and since it’s blurred on Google they think their payment processor will accept their word that it’s a residence.
My go to to get them to tell on themselves was to say “we’re reviewing, I can’t discuss the case with you but the results of the review will be sent to you around 2pm” Since they were in Asia it would be way past 2pm and so many of them would say “2pm, it’s 8:30 already” in their strong accent. I would be looking at their IP address so after I handed in my notice and stopped giving a shit I would say “is it a balmy night in Hydrabad”
by Anonymous | reply 430 | September 27, 2024 11:11 PM |
He’s not even trying. In today’s attempt to scare white people he says that Kamala is letting in the migrants through her secret app. And *drumroll* she’s sending them to PA, NC and WI! Rofl. R432 Payment processors don’t support all countries. If you live in India, Pakistan, Serbia etc you are either banned entirely from the big payment processors or severely limited. PayPal will allow an Indian person to open a merchant account but they can only take payment in INR. That means they cannot set up a dropshipping store in USD and allow US users to checkout with PayPal. Shopify (used by most drop shippers) will only provide USD payment accounts to merchants from US and Canada.
Wyoming is used because they can set up an LLC and get a virtual address quickly. Tax reasons don’t apply to the foreigners but it’s a big draw for the Trump LLCs . WY does nothing about the thousands of scams registered in their state. It’s an open secret. Nothing is done. One of the Sheridan addresses had been used to open an account with us over 7,000 times! Almost 4,000 had been closed because the merchant was from overseas. Another 2,000+ because they had so many chargebacks. I spent several months doing nothing but Sheridan cases. 20 per hour for 7.5 hours/day was my target. It’s exactly where the Trump family belong, they are no better than the other small time grifters.

R479 The website boasts that the watches can be shipped worldwide with the buyer liable for all duties, taxes and fees. However, the site was slapped together in an hour. The FAQ are just pasted into the template from his other ventures. The company was registered to a virtual address in WY, a teenager could do that on his phone in 20 minutes. The watches are almost certainly made in China. The watches will be shipped from China to some cheapy warehouse in the US and onto the buyer. The company will never see the product which is why the FAQ say that what you get may not match the picture! They don’t trust the Chinese manufacturer enough to be certain that every unit will be right. The shipping time is vague and long because they need to get from China.
All that to say that this is a shonky operation. It’s the same operation that a kid would use to set up a website dropshipping water bottles. The NYT should have tracked down the guys behind it. Everything points to it being grifter types who used this exact model to flog all kinds of cheap junk unsuccessfully before getting to Trump.
If a Turk or an Egyptian would like to “buy a watch” then the website provides a paper trail but I’m doubtful that the guys behind this are smart enough to have set it up with that intent.

"It is hard to imagine a candidate more unworthy to serve as president of the United States than Donald Trump. He has proved himself morally unfit for an office that asks its occupant to put the good of the nation above self-interest. He has proved himself temperamentally unfit for a role that requires the very qualities — wisdom, honesty, empathy, courage, restraint, humility, discipline — that he most lacks.
Those disqualifying characteristics are compounded by everything else that limits his ability to fulfill the duties of the president: his many criminal charges, his advancing age, his fundamental lack of interest in policy and his increasingly bizarre cast of associates.
This unequivocal, dispiriting truth — Donald Trump is not fit to be president — should be enough for any voter who cares about the health of our country and the stability of our democracy to deny him re-election. For this reason, regardless of any political disagreements voters might have with her, Kamala Harris is the only patriotic choice for president."

Yup.
Trump doesn't prepare for his debates for the same reason. He knows his moronic voters will swallow whatever shit that comes outta his mouth and ass and then ask for more.
Kamala and Walz implicitly compliment Americans by preparing for debates knowing that we expect, and deserve, candidates who've done their homework.
by Anonymous | reply 540 | October 1, 2024 1:44 AM |
I think Trump doesn't prepare for debates because his neurodivergence/adhd situation makes it impossible for him to sit still, be calm, and take in information and remember data. He cannot do it and probably never could, in the format that preparers use to give the candidate some data-filled answers to the expected questions - like the 800,000 Polish people in Pennsylvania or whatever.
They tried to fill Biden full of these details and he's too old now to keep them in his memory. So a question about abortion rights turned into an illegal alien killing a woman or some such nonsense. (I'm a little like him so I've forgotten the exact answer but it was bonkers because his brain couldn't remember all those facts that tried to put in it.)

“So pretty much, as we’ve been saying ... and what I want to do is, I want to be able to ... look your business. Years ago in this area, I was honored as the Man of the Year. Was maybe 20 years ago, and the fake news heard about it. They said, ‘It never happened. It never happened.’ And I didn’t know who it was. It was a group that honored me as Man of the Year. The fakers back there ... see the fake news ... but they said, they said, Oh. And they looked at it, you know, they said it never happened. But I said, ‘I swear to you, it happened. It did happen.
I was Man of the Year, and I came and I made a speech and said, ‘Why do you allow them to take your car business away? Why do you allow it to happen? They’re taking your business away.’ And I didn’t know too much about ... all I know is they were taking your car industry away from you. They said it never happened, and lo and behold, somebody said, ‘I remember the event,’ and then we found out, and we had everything. We got the awards. We had everything. It did happen, but I gave a speech, which at the time was pretty controversial.”

The day it doesn't will surely break the internet, DL will explode gloriously. To quote a very touching film, I just want to be there.

R567 Odd, I don’t remember him making a fuss about the investigation into Hillary’s emails.

And if someone who looked like Trump walked down the street the MAGAt types would all think it was a big old queen. He’s the least masculine looking and sounding man ever in the WH. A fat gluttonous gossip who loves gaudy gold shit.

I seriously wonder how many Republican lawmakers on every level are going to vote for Harris, even while espousing Trump's candidacy. I can see traditional Republicans doing it, and, I can see Melania voting for Harris.

^^Let's hope Trump acolytes in election offices across the country who are planning to lie, cheat and steal on his behalf this election see that it's always the foot soldiers who get punished, never the generals.

LOL... even Wikipedia's rubbing it in:
"Tina Peters (born 1955 or 1956)[2] is an American convicted felon who is the former County Clerk of Mesa County, Colorado. "

Make friends with the guards, Tina! It worked for Julia Cumson on Falcon Crest. Guard Corinne was a little standoffish at first, but then Angela paid her off and she supplied the Dutchess with pills and booze.

This morning, Joe Scarborough posed an interesting question on his show after John Heilemann presented his analysis that disillusioned Republicans’ question is not “Do I vote for Trump or do I vote for Kamala?;” rather, it is “Do I vote or do I not vote?” Joe asked Donny Deutsch the following: who in the Republican party—if he/she came out publicly for Kamala Harris—would sway those voters the most? Deutsch immediately said “W,” as in George W. Bush. What sayeth the Datalounge? Would Bush’s endorsement give those Republicans “permission” to vote for Kamala? Would you give a different name? Or will no one sway these spineless, hesitant Republicans to get off their asses and vote for Kamala?

W was the TEA Party candidate that prefigured Trump.
Showed that Republican idiot presidents need fascist handlers.
Preznit made Trump possible.
by Anonymous | reply 585 | October 4, 2024 3:31 PM |
R585, while I agree that W prefigured Trump, your timeline and history is off. The Tea Party arose in response to Obama and the ACA, which is obviously after Bush left office,
The story starts with Nixon’s paranoia and dirty dealings, continues with Reagan’s repackaging of greed as Christian and populist, goes on with W’s aw shucks warmongering and anti-intellectualism,, and the anti-Obama movement leading to Trump coming down the elevator.
God, I want this story to end.

Is W still influential enough to make that big of a difference? I don't think so. He hasn't really nurtured his profile in "emeritus", the way Clinton or Obama has. He's more in the Jerry Ford model, living his best life but only that. I'd bet Pickles could sway more women Republicans just because it would be such an unexpected move.
I really think there's a chance the Republican party, whatever it now is or isn't, was or wasn't, is now actively dying. If Trump wins, the term will end in disgrace and the country will be the Iran of the G7. Who can pick up the pieces on that side and get back to normal? If he loses, who can pick up the pieces given the division and insanity? There are two camps now: MAGA and everybody else. All of them are shattered in one way or another and divided and have happened that cannot be undone. It's too late. At some point, the future isn't viable or saleable for what's happened to the Republicans. Parties die. I think this one very well might be in the process of it. I wonder if Trump has killed the two party system. Whether it's in four months or four years, I think this election may change everything for the Republicans, one way or another.

Trump can only fill half of a gymnasium in Michigan. This a major tell of how the election looks one month out.
Trump was getting big crowds in 2016 and 2020, yet they've been cut in half in 2024. The MAGA cult is built around his rallies, so it's a warning sign for his crowds to be dwindling.

W was the last "traditional" Republican President. Most people forget that Liz Cheney's father actually ran the country. W was only the "decider" who signed the legislation his handlers wanted him to sign.

Once again, R589, all the historical accounts of 43’s presidency have long debunked this stubborn claim that Dubya was a passive participant in his presidency. He is reported to have very much been the captain of his ship.
