Wow, Stelter has been putting on the weight. He was considerably chubby when he was working on CNN prior. Now, he is quite obese. Is anyone at CNN telling him to lose much of that fat?

Stelter was one of the more interesting commentators about mainstream media... which was falling apart in the last decade. But now there hardly is mainstream media anymore - just little blips and bubbles of partisan filters. Now the media "public sphere" isn't network or cable... but streaming and podcasts.

I haven't really been watching The Daily Show. What has Jon been up to earn the ire of the eldergays?

He was a fat kid who lost weight when he went to the NY Times. Initially, his strength was being the young guy who could teach the NYT all about non-legacy media back in the early aughts. Then he got married, left for CNN and took over their Reliable Sources media beat and newsletter. When Stelter was fired for criticizing CNN CEO Chris Licht, Oliver Darcy took over the daily Reliable Sources newsletter and . did an incredible job with it. Darcy left recently, started his own web-based daily publication and is charging something like170 for it, which is too rich for my blood.

It's hard to imagine that Stelter was seen as the avatar of the future of media at the NYT, given his boring suburban Dadness, but it's true.

Jon was on team "Joe is too old and must go," without adding "I'm a multimillionaire so fuck do I care who wins."

r23. I think everyone is appreciative now of Kamala replacing Joe, but at the time, it was a slow, painful bloodletting with no happy ending assured. The people pushing this were from the moneyed class and it was fucking terrifying to people depending on Medicare for healthcare and possibly Social Security to augment their incomes.
