First blind tranny Paralympian qualifies for semi-finals
[quote] Ukraine Oksana Boturchuk, who is racing in the semi-final heats, said: "I find this not fair, in my opinion. I am not against transgenders in general but in this situation I do not understand and don't support it."
[quote] Venezuela's Paralympic Committee (VPC) has called it a "a terrible inequality that puts female athletes (born female) at a great disadvantage".

Has her cousin Sophia commented yet?

If the person went thru puberty as a testosterone-fueled male, that is a body dimension and strength advantage that is locked in for life.
This is getting ridiculous. If an FTM trans-woman wants to life her best FTM life, that's fine... but when she seeks to compete against cis women in athletic competitions? Nope. Nothing is stopping her from enjoying athleticism in her own life. But it is not a fair competition for her to be entering if she grew up as a teenage boy.

I mean... this is "Lia" Thomas who trounced the women's collegiate swimming after he decided to self identify as female.
No. Just, no.

I hope with all my heart that some woman leaves them in the dust.

I bet "she's" not blind, either.
There's been lots of talk about paralympians faking their disabilities.

Really, r5? Could you point me to a source? I did see some post by a paralympian whose only disability seemed to be an autoimmune condition, but I don't recall the details.

OK R6 -- here ya go. There are more if you look.

Thanks. How much of a loser and a poor sportsman do you have to be before you lie about disabilities to win medals?

R8 - I believe several countries give out money for medals in the Paralympics like the Olympics. It's a payday - maybe not huge - but for some countries it is.

I saw some paralympics jumping event the other morning and no one was visibly disabled. I can’t imagine that you have people competing with heart conditions or anything. The TV was on mute so I’m still wondering what they had. Some Chinese woman was dominating.

Maybe the Chinese athlete had bound feet r10
