What is everyone doing for Labor Day?

Being lazy. That's what holidays are for or should be.

It's just an extra Sunday, so that Monday feels all the more miserable.

Anal bleaching……..again.

In Spain it's the day people return from a month (or weeks) long holiday aeay. Many restaurants and bars and small businesses reopen. Foreign students return for their studies. Events beyond outdoor cinema and musical performances resume.

R5, my Madrileña Spanish teacher on Zoom was quipping how her own classes resume soon, but for some reason they are not given an actual start date until sometime around now or this week, at least the Uni she’s at. Apparentky they just say “Figure on resuming sometime in September. We’ll tell you the exact date after we figure it out ourselves.”

I'm watching The Simpsons and drinking beer at 9am. Might mow the lawn later.

Labor Day has always made me feel a little sad, because it's the unofficial end of summer. It used to be the last day of summer vacation, so I always associated it with the anticipation/anxiety of starting another school year.

Here in West Hollywood we're heading in to the hottest week of the year.

I am celebrating Labor Day by trying to find someone to fix my central air conditioner, which broke down last night.

Sitting around I n my underwear after my shower .. trying to decide if I want to go out for lunch .. wondering which places may be open.

Decisions, decisions.

When I stopped to put gas in the car on Friday, there were two young couples filling up. One had a couple of kids in the back seats of their huge pickup towing a boat; the other looked to be just them but in a similarly-sized truck pulling a snazzy camper. I don't know if they were together. I envied them for a moment, then recalled the weekend-outings of my youth and was pretty happy I wasn't in their shoes. I'm enjoying laying about, jumping in the pool when I get too hot, making and eating some good food, and not doing much of anything.

Just returned from brunch and am laying in bed watching the US Open.

Staying home. Maybe having a vegan hot dog. Practicing for my Wednesday music lesson. Watching the last episode of "The Night Manager" during which this early a.m. I fell asleep twice (I was tired, not a reflection on this most excellent Hiddleston /Laurie/Hollander series!).

R7, Dad?

Will be watching the film "Picnic," accompanied with lots of junk food.

Are there any other films that include a Labor Day long weekend?

Going to my mom’s. Hopefully she still cooks. She cooked last Monday thinking it was Labor Day.
