What ultimately did him in? His "mind-boggling plan to pave over thousands of unspoiled acres at nine state parks and erect 350-room hotels, golf courses and pickleball courts."
DeSantis is finally on the downward slope in Florida, and Republicans are finally standing up to him

Who would've thought that elections have consequences?

Excellent.

I am so tired of people who complain about how things are, then go vote for the people in charge/doing the things they complain about, or not vote at all. These people were complicit in DeSantis' behavior, and are now only mad because they've realized he used all of them for his shitty "campaign". They can all go fuck themselves.

Well, I didn't vote for him.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 3, 2024 2:34 AM |
r3 No. The many thousands who did NOT vote for him are the main ones upset.

It's time to go Mr Go-Go boots.

More like Ms GoGo Boots

If you aren’t from Florida, you might not know that the environment and the parks are, to some extent, a bipartisan issue. Like Social Security and Medicare, even the well off old Republicans are in support. DeSantis should have known better but was too cocky.

[quote] Many noted the plans had been drawn up in secret, with no-bid contracts destined for mysteriously pre-chosen developers outside the requirements of Florida law.
He was planning to cash in.
Asshole.

This fucker easily cruised to reelection last time, so they have no one to blame but themselves.

This little pygmy really thought he'd be president

Blame Tacky O.

R3 That’s how I feel. You get what you voted for. It’s just common knowledge politicians rile people up with social issues so they can pave paradise and put up a parking lot.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 3, 2024 3:38 AM |
We all need to stand up to all politicians. Hold them accountable. Vote them out. Hold back money for them. We need better organizations of citizens and not ones that are beholden to a specific party or candidate.

I guess no one wanted to run against him, so his "Democratic" opponent ended up being Charlie Crist. Crist was a Republican who flipped to the Democratic party, so that explains a lot. Plus, even though he went the lavender marriage route, everyone knew he was/is gay.
I voted for him, but he was a weak candidate and barely even had a campaign.
That's why DeSatan won.

[quote] On Friday, August 30, 2024, I was terminated from the Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Park Planning after alerting the public regarding a secret, fast-tracked plan to build golf courses, 350-room hotels, disc golf courts, and pickleball courts within critical habitats across 9 of our Florida State Parks. These atrocious proposals, which were not going to be released until the day before the scheduled public meetings, have been suspended for now, and we are all feeling great about that. As a state employee and single dad working a weekend side-job, I knew that sounding the alarm was a risky move. However, I saw myself as a public servant first and felt that it was the only ethical thing to do. This issue became far more important than any individual’s employment status with DEP. As I seek a path forward professionally in coming days and weeks, I would be incredibly grateful for anyone willing to lend a hand; any amount would be appreciated.
