I Fucking LOVE Elizabeth Banks!

Gorgeous, a fine actress and can be as funny as hell. She's got us watching "Press Your Luck", though we seldom watch any game shows besides " Jeopardy". PYL is wild and wacky, not only Elizabeth, but the contestants as well.

What do you think of Elizabeth?

by Anonymousreply 37October 5, 2024 2:37 AM

Shill thread

by Anonymousreply 1August 30, 2024 2:26 PM

I have no issues with Elizabeth. I think she's likable. However, I do not like this version of Press Your Luck.

by Anonymousreply 2August 30, 2024 2:27 PM

Love her and PYL! Used to watch the original as a kid with my grandma, now I watch the new one with my hubby. The guests are interesting. A few years ago they had the gayest guy on there, but married (to a woman) with a teenager (both were present for the bonus rounds). A couple of his "personalized" prizes at the end:

-A collectible "Wizard of Oz" book -A trip to London to see Celine Dion at the O2 arena...twice!

by Anonymousreply 3August 30, 2024 2:35 PM

I love her. She's hilarious and she's also a great supporter for Democratic candidates.

by Anonymousreply 4August 30, 2024 2:35 PM

I love Elizabeth Banks, especially when she was on 30 Rock and Modern Family.

But I hate this version of Press Your Luck, with the families of the contestants sitting on the right of the stage while the contestant tells their hard luck stories and act like greedy assholes. It's becoming the 21s century version of Queen for a Day.

by Anonymousreply 5August 30, 2024 2:58 PM

I want to love her…but everything she does seems forced and a bit too try-hard. Wish her the best, though. Her heart is in the right place.

by Anonymousreply 6August 30, 2024 3:06 PM

She stole Parker Posey's career.

by Anonymousreply 7August 30, 2024 3:34 PM

Hack.

by Anonymousreply 8August 30, 2024 3:35 PM

She’s great in the movie Skincare, which came and went from theaters a couple weeks ago. Smart dark comedy that’s worth a VOD rental for sure.

by Anonymousreply 9August 30, 2024 4:21 PM

She has a unique and impressive resume. Very talented and smart. I'm actually surprised I'm enjoying several of the current batch of game shows including Press Your Luck, Lingo, The Floor and Lucky 13. Although I wish they were 30 minutes instead of an hour.

by Anonymousreply 10August 30, 2024 4:59 PM

When I was a kid, Press Your Luck was a favorite of mine. So I did reluctantly tune in to the reboot. I kinda love it. In fact, I think it's the only network I watch.

Yes, Banks is great and lovely. But I I watch it because contestants actually win shit (usually). Which is always more fun.

by Anonymousreply 11August 30, 2024 5:11 PM

I liked her in The 40 Year Old Virgin, Zack And Miri Make A Porno, and Love & Mercy.

by Anonymousreply 12August 30, 2024 5:17 PM

Cocaine Bear was shit. And don't get me started on that Charlie's Angels mess...

by Anonymousreply 13August 30, 2024 5:18 PM

Is Elizabeth Banks a poor man's Rachel McAdams, or is Rachel McAdams a poor man's Elizabeth Banks?

by Anonymousreply 14August 30, 2024 5:20 PM

She was terrific as Sal in Modern Family.

by Anonymousreply 15August 30, 2024 5:22 PM

My issue with her Press Your Luck is that they stretch a 30-minute game into an hour and the family aspect. "I have to win for my wife, who is dying of ebola, a trip around the world and my Mom needs a new car because her's got stolen by a pack of wild teens and there they are over on the side cheering me on. It's too schmaltzy.

by Anonymousreply 16August 30, 2024 5:25 PM

That's hysterical, R16. And so true.

But all reality shows are like that now. Everyone has a sob story.

I've accepted it. But with the DL requisite massive eye rolls thrown in often as I watch.

by Anonymousreply 17August 30, 2024 5:30 PM

I always get her mixed up with Leslie Mann.

by Anonymousreply 18August 30, 2024 8:33 PM

OP, me too!

by Anonymousreply 19August 31, 2024 4:55 AM

It’s a generic compliment, but her material is tightly written and spot-on GenX. Her voice in Pitch Perfect comes through in the dialogue no matter who speaks.

I loved Skincare. Didn't expect much and enjoyed the film.

by Anonymousreply 22August 31, 2024 5:38 AM

She's terrible on Press Your Luck. I'd be a better host...and I'm dead.

by Anonymousreply 23August 31, 2024 6:01 AM

I'd rather have the 80s Press Your Luck format back, but with the increase in commercials today there wouldn't be enough time to play the whole game in 30 minutes. So they'd either have to do a half-hour truncated version, or make it an hour with padding. If it were up to me, I'd have an hour version in which they played two games, then filled out the additional time as needed with an audience game, or maybe some sort of quicky bonus round between the two winners of the night.

Having said that, I don't mind the current version. I think Elizabeth is a good host and I like how invested she is in the players. The one time I saw the player get close to the million dollar prize was pretty exciting.

by Anonymousreply 24August 31, 2024 2:55 PM

I’m sorry but OP must be a white female.

Elizabeth Banks is horrible and overrated and cries of sexism and misogyny when she’s one of the most mediocre directors and actresses out there.

by Anonymousreply 25August 31, 2024 3:11 PM

R25, you type like a couch fucker.

Specifics or it didn’t happen.

by Anonymousreply 26August 31, 2024 4:27 PM

OP = Elizabeth Banks.

by Anonymousreply 27August 31, 2024 8:01 PM

R6 “ Her heart is in the right place.”

How would you know?

by Anonymousreply 28August 31, 2024 8:22 PM

Um, did you see her dykey Charlie’s Angels?

She can take a seat for a while.

by Anonymousreply 29August 31, 2024 8:28 PM

Love her !

by Anonymousreply 30August 31, 2024 11:05 PM

R22: Same here, saw Skincare in the theatre this past week and loved it.

by Anonymousreply 31August 31, 2024 11:36 PM

I've always liked her and her vibe.

by Anonymousreply 32September 1, 2024 2:17 AM

I forget to mention that she and I share a movie credit together. So nice.

by Anonymousreply 33September 1, 2024 2:20 AM

She was fine early on, but has become insufferable.

by Anonymousreply 34September 1, 2024 2:30 AM

Since some of the behavior she exhibited during her more recent directorial ventures (and failures), I sort of agree with R34, but I ultimately still like her. She is a great comedic performer but can also pull off darker material pretty well. She has an infectious laugh too.

The Leslie Mann comparisons are insulting. Elizabeth, though occasionally obnoxious, is talented and not the rude, vacuous, septic cunt that Mrs. Mann-Apatow is.

by Anonymousreply 35September 1, 2024 2:38 AM

My mother is obseseed with Elizabeth and this damn show

by Anonymousreply 36October 5, 2024 2:21 AM

She has a very unique and enticing voice. Seriously - her voice is just honey for your ears.

It's amazing to see the difference in how she looked in 40 year old virgin - I hardly recognized her.

Same pretty face, but if I didn't know it was her - I wouldn't have guessed.
