WTF are you droning on about, dipshit?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 29, 2024 6:12 PM |
He's 21 years old. Let's not compare him to Streep. I didn't think it was that bad.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 29, 2024 6:14 PM |
Enough with the Marvel crap. Ugh
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 29, 2024 6:16 PM |
Coming up, OP debuts capitalization.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 29, 2024 6:20 PM |
We discussed the trailer in one of the numerous Agatha threads when it came out, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 29, 2024 6:23 PM |
Great. The Heartstopper lunatics are back.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 29, 2024 6:25 PM |
Hugh Laurieās yankcent is utter garbage.

R5 this is a new one, retard
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 29, 2024 6:40 PM |
OP, show us on the doll where the charming young geeky successful fashion it boy gay actor with a decent basket hurt you.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 29, 2024 6:50 PM |
a fashion it boy with no fashion campaigns who goes viral for being ugly & looking like a vape

by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 29, 2024 7:03 PM |
I love it when ugly bitter bottom-feeding low-IQ gay ignoramuses get frustrated and angry because they can't fathom the logic of the it boy zeitgeist
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 29, 2024 7:10 PM |
dumbo isn't even the it boy out of the heartshitter cast
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 29, 2024 7:14 PM |
Locke clearly is the it boy
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 29, 2024 7:15 PM |
Ugly, ugly and boring.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 30, 2024 12:52 PM |
Iām rooting for Joe, but that accent is awful.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 30, 2024 12:58 PM |
Joseph Quin's accent was fine in Stranger Things
Henry Cavill had a decent accent while playing Superman
Andrew Lincoln in Walking Dead
Gary Oldman, Millie Bobby Brown, Cate Blanchet, Andrew Garfield, Kate Winslet, Daniel Day Louis have all played Americans convincingly.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 1, 2024 10:19 PM |
Have heard that Idris Alba's accent is decent.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 1, 2024 10:20 PM |
Another one is Chiwetel Ejiofor.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 1, 2024 10:21 PM |
Joe Locke isn't even a household name in his own home.
These threads are just the rantings of a middle-aged, mentally ill woman.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 1, 2024 10:23 PM |
Tom Hardy & Christian Bale.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 1, 2024 10:25 PM |
He sounds fine.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 1, 2024 11:50 PM |
His accent seems okay to me, but the Agatha show looks very cheesy.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 2, 2024 5:55 AM |
I'm not American and couldn't judge the authenticity of an accent if my life depended on it, but I've always wondered about Benedict Cumberbatch's accent in The Power of the Dog. Americans, is it any good?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 2, 2024 6:23 AM |
The accent thing is interesting. To make it big in Hollywood or Streaming, many British, Irish, Australian and Kiwi actors need to be able to do an American accent somewhat convincingly. Even the better ones slip up all the time. A good example is when Andrew Lincoln in TWD always trips on the rhotic R transition and says Coral for Carl. Itās killed some actors careers dead in the water because ādoing the accentā gets in the way of their acting. An example is Jai Courtney who is a much better actor in his native Oz accent compared to when heās playing a wooden American. The accent isnāt terrible, but he canāt walk and chew gum. Liam Neeson is the one who annoys me the most. The accent is ok, but he comes across unnatural like heās narrating. He doesnāt sound as stilted in his native accent like in the recent āIn the Land of Saints and Sinnersā.
Itās definitely a great skill, and the UK seems to have more resources for coaching accents. When an American does an accent, itās considered a novelty more than a necessity. Thatās a shame because it would be well respected if they could nail one of the UK accents. What many Americans donāt realise is the large number or UK regional accents. When you watch something like Game of Thrones for example, there will be several accents within the same family. Itās the equivalent of a a family being presented with different members sounding like theyāre from the Midwest, South and New England.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 2, 2024 7:14 AM |
R25 His accent is ok, but I find it easy to tell he is a Brit because of the rhythm of his speaking, if that makes sense.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 2, 2024 7:52 AM |
Another shitty MCU show - how could anyone be surprised at this point?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 2, 2024 9:09 AM |
Cate Blanchett is not British R18.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 2, 2024 9:48 AM |
R26 well, I mean, that is also what trips up UK actors a lot too. There are about a million regional US accents, many Brit actors can nail a broad generic mid-Atlantic one (which doesnāt really exist in real life outside of film) but not a specific regional one. The one exception I can think of is Kate Winslet in MARE OF EASTTOWN.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 2, 2024 9:59 AM |
You seem to know better, but a mid-Atlantic accent is neither "broad" nor "generic".
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 2, 2024 10:57 AM |
On the other hand, American actors think everyone in the UK speaks like Princess Margaret.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 2, 2024 12:15 PM |
Sounds fine, OP. I'm from Connecticut - he sounds like my family.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 2, 2024 12:18 PM |
R29 Thanks yes, I remembered. She does do an amazing American accent though.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 2, 2024 12:34 PM |
If anything he sounds like he a Canadian from Ontario rather than an American.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 7, 2024 3:41 PM |
Who was the actor who played Isaac on Teen Wolf? I didn't know he was English. I just thought he had an odd cadence to his American speech.
Oh, yeah, Daniel Sharman.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 7, 2024 3:44 PM |
OP, based on what's heard in this trailer, his American accent sounds perfectly fine to me. Can you give examples of some things he says in the trailer that make you feel otherwise?
[quote]If anything he sounds like he a Canadian from Ontario rather than an American.
Oh, please!!! As if you're qualified to judge that.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 7, 2024 3:50 PM |
R35 Just imagine if he were actually attractive!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 7, 2024 3:52 PM |
It sounds passable, but a bit robotic, wobbly. I think it was computer-enhanced.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 7, 2024 3:52 PM |
R40, I'm sure you have no idea what you're talking about, as is the case with so many others posting here on this subject.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 7, 2024 4:31 PM |
r39 he is. very
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 7, 2024 6:02 PM |
R42 Nice imagination, but no.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 7, 2024 9:26 PM |
R36, what does a Canadian from Ontario sound like compared to an American?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 8, 2024 6:29 AM |
r43 all you need is eyes
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 8, 2024 8:42 AM |
I was really looking forward to it, but I'm just not convinced he's experienced enough to carry this off. I know it's only a trailer, but he pales in comparison to Kathryn Hahn. Although maybe that's the point.
It'll either be brilliant or awful. No in between. I'll give it a go anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | September 8, 2024 8:56 AM |
Haters gonna Datalounge.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 8, 2024 9:06 AM |
[quote] OP, based on what's heard in this trailer, his American accent sounds perfectly fine to me.
Agreed. Most people who donāt know who he is will believe heās an American actor since he sounds American.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 8, 2024 9:42 AM |
r48 yeah OP is retarded
by Anonymous | reply 49 | September 9, 2024 12:04 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 9, 2024 12:07 PM |
r50 then why are you here ?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 9, 2024 12:10 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 59 | September 10, 2024 10:20 AM |
R59 They'll be too busy talking about how godawful the entire show is to say very much about the homely boy. I feel sorry for Patti LuPone, soiling herself with this kind of drek.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | September 10, 2024 11:43 AM |
seems like someone has already made up their mind even before one episode has dropped
by Anonymous | reply 61 | September 10, 2024 11:45 AM |
His American accent is fine. There is no singular American or British etc. accent. Many variations occur, based on the region the speaker is from and their exposure to other accents. There are Americans who have accents similar to the one in that clip. Same with Hugh Laurie. There are some Brits who really struggle with plausible American dialects, but those two aren't among them.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | September 10, 2024 12:22 PM |
Ungodly! Ungodly!
by Anonymous | reply 63 | September 10, 2024 1:31 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 64 | September 10, 2024 3:43 PM |
R62 which variant is the one joe is doing? the one that sounds like someone with downs?
by Anonymous | reply 65 | September 10, 2024 10:03 PM |
Iām struggling to hear what is wrong with this accent.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | September 10, 2024 10:28 PM |
The poor guy is already homely, don't bash him about his accent!
by Anonymous | reply 67 | September 10, 2024 10:46 PM |
could he be the villain of the story ?
by Anonymous | reply 68 | September 11, 2024 10:34 AM |
The reason I said he sounded more like a Canadian accent is the way he says the long "i" sound, which is just something I've noticed when watching Canadian TV over the years, shows like the old Canadian Idol, and Much Music. Maybe I'm wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | September 11, 2024 1:15 PM |
*more like he has a Canadian accent
by Anonymous | reply 70 | September 11, 2024 1:16 PM |
who cares if itās not perfect
by Anonymous | reply 71 | September 12, 2024 6:59 AM |
His American accent is pretty bad in the trailer.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | September 12, 2024 7:09 AM |
r72 irrelevant
by Anonymous | reply 73 | September 12, 2024 11:16 AM |
Iām American and have no idea where he is from. I would have assumer America based on the clip.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | September 12, 2024 2:33 PM |
[quote]which variant is the one joe is doing? the one that sounds like someone with downs?
If that were the case, maybe he was attempting to sound like you.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | September 12, 2024 3:21 PM |
Why irrelevant R73? Is he not playing an American character? Which nationality is his character then?
by Anonymous | reply 76 | September 12, 2024 3:25 PM |
it shows how none of you are American cause thereās no such thing as an āAmerican accentā
by Anonymous | reply 77 | September 12, 2024 4:13 PM |
R77 there are so many american accents. yet dumbo didn't pull off any of them.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | September 12, 2024 9:38 PM |
r78 it is his first role
by Anonymous | reply 79 | September 13, 2024 6:48 AM |
What is the difference between a Canadian and an American accent?
by Anonymous | reply 80 | September 13, 2024 7:42 AM |
The bottom line is that if he can't perform well enough to deliver the required accent then he shouldn't have been hired for the role because it's so bad it's distracting and laughable.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | September 13, 2024 9:02 AM |
R79 heartstopper was his first role. you either have it or you don't & he doesn't.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | September 13, 2024 10:31 AM |
r82 this is not true at all lmao
Andrew Garfield had smaller roles upto Spiderman and even that wasnāt his big break
by Anonymous | reply 83 | September 13, 2024 11:52 AM |
R83 are you dumb?
no one is talking about his big break. he can't act. he doesn't have it.

Joe with the Gaggle. Fortunately, Whoopi was not there.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | September 13, 2024 6:47 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 89 | September 13, 2024 10:59 PM |
R89 Got the looks and the talent - hardly seems fair. Maybe donkey boy has a donkey dick under there.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | September 14, 2024 1:57 AM |
I'm glad most of Joe's fans fucked off from here. I was tired of reading through delusion after delusion in the never-ending Heartstopper threads run by those fraus. Only they ever believed that Joe and Kit are on par in any way. They try to blame everything from looks to privilege on Kit's career being miles ahead of Joe's, but the reality is that Kit acts circles around Joe. I'm sure the Telegram group, or Reddit, or wherever they are, is full of fraus arguing that Marvel slop on Disney+ is the pinnacle of success. They're probably also talking about how Kit's fans are evil. I can't imagine how they took the news that Kit was originating a lead role on Broadway after Joe's replacement supporting character stint. Or the news that the animated movie he's in is an Oscar frontrunner. Or that he's a lead in an A24 movie directed by an incredibly talented, well-known auteur. Oh well!

by Anonymous | reply 93 | September 14, 2024 6:01 AM |
R91 Kit's got the fat gene, though. If he slacks off the gym one summer, he'll blow up like a balloon. Then the gays will be less thrilled with him.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | September 14, 2024 6:15 AM |
R94 The gays are so fickle that they're not worth hinging your entire career on. As long as he continues doing good work, he'll be fine.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | September 14, 2024 6:23 AM |
R94 The gays rarely talk about him anyway. Being Bi is not very interesting on DL. Joe Locke, for all his unfortunate looks, gets more attention here.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | September 14, 2024 6:23 AM |
R96 I wish he got less attention on here, itās basically all negative.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | September 14, 2024 6:25 AM |
r97 constant hatred against him
by Anonymous | reply 98 | September 14, 2024 6:41 AM |

A message from Joe Locke
Hello, gentlemen of Datalounge. Itās me, Joe Locke. I love all the attention you give me, bad and good! All press is good press.
I turn 21 next week and Iāve already made a million pounds in my acting career. Iāve been in two TV series and on Broadway! I came out to my family as a teen. Iām an out gay young man enjoying a great start to my acting career. Sure Iāve got a unique look, but I can wear anything and make it look cool, so they say, so my agent is drowning in offers for fashion editorials and Iām buried under the fun free clothes designers give me. Iām invited everywhere where I meet such interesting people. And Iāve got a big cock and heavy balls. So suck it, haters, and lick my shitter. Hahahah as if you'd ever get near it.
XOX Joe

Benedict Cumberbatch's accent is somewhat monotone and stilted, and you can tell he's English when he pronounces certain vowel sounds. He doesn't pronounce them the way an American would.
IMHO one of the best American accents ever is Andrew Lincoln on The Walking Dead. Not only did he have to do an American accent, but an accent of a rural, working-class Southerner. That's difficult even for many Americans who are not from the South. His accent/dialect was flawless, I assumed he was an American Southerner before I found out that he's English.
