Winona Ryder Gets Frustrated by Her Younger Co-Stars Who ‘Are Not Interested in Movies’

Winona Ryder is a cinephile and really wants her younger co-stars to be, too. In recent interviews while promoting her role in Tim Burton’s upcoming sequel “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” the Oscar-nominated actor lamented over how some of the young actors she’s worked with in recent years just aren’t interested in watching movies. Be it working with the “Stranger Things” kids or Jenna Ortega on the “Beetlejuice” sequel, Ryder told Esquire she is very much aware that “I’ve gone from being the youngest person on set to being the oldest.”

As the Los Angeles Times noted in a recent profile: “Ryder appreciates getting to interact with the up-and-coming generation of film lovers who remind her of herself, excitedly telling me how her ‘Stranger Things’ co-star Finn Wolfhard is obsessed with Elliott Gould. Still, she gets frustrated when there is a lack of curiosity among her more junior colleagues.”

“I don’t mean to sound so hopeless,” she added to the magazine. “There are a few that are just not interested in movies. Like, the first thing they say is, ‘How long is it?’”

She told told Esquire magazine in a separate interview: “I just think that social media has changed everything, and I know I sound old. I’m very aware of that. And part of me thinks, ‘Gosh, am I like vaudeville at this point?’ Like [elderly lady voice], ‘Hey, kids, turn down the music!’ But I just think there was such an abundance: the history of film, the history of photography, it’s so rich, and there’s so much there, and I don’t mean we should go backwards, but I wish and I hope that the younger generation will study that.”

While Rider did not call out any of her younger co-stars by name, “Stranger Things” actor Millie Bobby Brown did give a viral interview earlier this year in which she talked about how she doesn’t usually watch movies.

“People come up to me and say, ‘You should definitely watch this movie, it would change your life,’ Brown said at the time. “I’m like, ‘How long do I have to sit there for?’ Because my brain and I don’t even like sitting for my own movies.”

When she hasn’t been out on the promotional trail for “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” Ryder has been in Atlanta shooting the final season of “Stranger Things.” The series has taken up a decade of her life.

“Ten years! I never thought,” Ryder told Esquire. “[At first] I was like, ‘I don’t want to be doing this when I’m in my fifties!’ It’s nuts, and its extra nuts to be my age. But I love the boys and I love [the actors] Sadie [Sink] and Maya [Hawke]. It’s been really wonderful.”

Perhaps she should teach film history as adjunct at a fancy college.

by Anonymousreply 1August 29, 2024 4:32 PM

kids are dumb

by Anonymousreply 2August 29, 2024 4:36 PM

Winona just did a video for Criterion. She really knows film. She got all into it about the story, the director, the significance, why it had such an effect on her, etc.

by Anonymousreply 3August 29, 2024 4:37 PM

I should also add that the types of films she chose are vast. They’re not one genre. Her mother was apparently a projectionist and Winona watched a lot of films thanks to it as a kid.

by Anonymousreply 4August 29, 2024 4:38 PM

I’m shocked Winona has never been married. She seems like the type in Hollywood who would have 5 marriages under her belt.

by Anonymousreply 5August 29, 2024 4:39 PM

She’s definitely shading MBB.

by Anonymousreply 6August 29, 2024 4:41 PM

MBB. Who the fuck is MBB

by Anonymousreply 7August 29, 2024 4:42 PM

[quote] I’m shocked Winona has never been married. She seems like the type in Hollywood who would have 5 marriages under her belt.

The bitch will never catch up.

by Anonymousreply 8August 29, 2024 4:42 PM

Ah, man, I love Winona. She's a thinker. Just a teensy bit berserk, too. And still gorgeous beyond belief.

She's right about the youngsters, of course.

by Anonymousreply 9August 29, 2024 4:42 PM

Does anyone else see price tags 🏷️ ?

by Anonymousreply 10August 29, 2024 4:46 PM

She is right. Gen Z much prefers to binge watch a series then watch a 2h+ film. Fkin weirdos lol.

by Anonymousreply 11August 29, 2024 4:48 PM

Yeah, I liked that too, R4. The spectrum of her cultural taste is obviously quite wide.

I also appreciated that she could pay tribute to Gena Rowlands and her friend Jim Jarmusch without even mentioning herself. She didn’t promote herself at all, never felt compelled to say, “When I worked with Gena on Jim’s film, Night on Earth…,” and instead spoke honestly about how she was originally exposed to Cassavetes’ work, acknowledging she was too young to understand it but could comprehend that Gena was an absolute star.

Winona is the real deal.

by Anonymousreply 12August 29, 2024 4:48 PM

[quote] Finn Wolfhard is obsessed with Elliott Gould

This made me laugh.

What in the hell does Finn Wolfhard find so interesting about Elliott Gould, of all people???

by Anonymousreply 13August 29, 2024 5:10 PM

In general, I'm annoyed by people who don't have any curiosity or people who know nothing about their own industry.

I don't know if that's tied to a specific age group, though.

by Anonymousreply 14August 29, 2024 5:13 PM

Youth is wasted on the young.

by Anonymousreply 15August 29, 2024 5:19 PM

She looks awful.

by Anonymousreply 16August 29, 2024 5:19 PM

Maybe noted film history slacker Meredith Baxter Birney R7?

by Anonymousreply 17August 29, 2024 5:19 PM

Shirley Maclaine said something similar years back. She worked on a project with younger actresses and was pissed that no one was coming up to her and asking advice on being a veteran in the industry. I think it was In her shoes. She said she was appalled by so many young stars just don't seem to give it a shit about the industry and don't' learn facets of it to better themselves and make themselves original. It's all for the check.

I have to agree. I think that also applies to glamour as well, with the rise of glam squads instead of stars doing their own beauty regiments.

by Anonymousreply 18August 29, 2024 5:21 PM

an appreciation of the past needs to be instilled at an early age. it cannot be expected to simply develop on it's own.

by Anonymousreply 19August 29, 2024 5:25 PM

[quote] an appreciation of the past needs to be instilled at an early age. it cannot be expected to simply develop on it's own.

Sometimes it comes about naturally, through an individual's own intellectual curiosity. But not often.

That said, Millie Bobbie Brown's parents must be unsophisticated troglodytes.

Probably MAGA too. They have no interest in anything cultural.

by Anonymousreply 20August 29, 2024 5:29 PM

“ How long do I have to sit there for?’ ”

Millie Bobby Brown sounds horrid

by Anonymousreply 21August 29, 2024 5:33 PM

R20 Millie Bobby Brown is British so I doubt her folks are Magas.

by Anonymousreply 22August 29, 2024 5:36 PM

Audrey Hepburn on crack

by Anonymousreply 23August 29, 2024 5:41 PM

Weird picture but she’s still so pretty. 53 yrs old.

by Anonymousreply 24August 29, 2024 5:44 PM

She is not the oldest on that set.

by Anonymousreply 25August 29, 2024 5:50 PM

I saw a snippet of a new Beetlejuice interview and Winona seemed like she was having a hard time stringing together a sentence. Catherine O'Hara saved her from herself, lovely women that she is. It made me wonder if she has mental health issues or if she was on something.

by Anonymousreply 26August 29, 2024 6:11 PM

Millie Bobbie Brown really brings nothing to the table.

by Anonymousreply 27August 29, 2024 6:27 PM

Translation: I fucking hate Millie Bobby Brown!

by Anonymousreply 28August 29, 2024 6:32 PM

The young people whine, "how long is it?" yet everything they consume is a franchise, sequel, prequel, reboot or shitshow "universe".

We already have something like that.

It's called TELEVISION.

Numbnuts.

by Anonymousreply 33August 29, 2024 7:26 PM

R33, go watch a 2.5 hours Planet of the Apes movie.

by Anonymousreply 34August 29, 2024 7:51 PM

R31 It’s because she became the biggest one when they were still kids, and then quickly she grew up to be fine when they became adults 😂. I think it’s partial jealousy.

by Anonymousreply 35August 29, 2024 7:53 PM

I agree with Winona. Remember when Lucas Hedges was asked which of Michelle Pfeiffer and Frances McDormand’s (two of his co-stars) films were his favorites, and he admitted he hadn’t seen any of their movies? Or Jennifer Lawrence thinking she’s the first female action star.

I like the Chloe Sevignys and Rebecca Halls and Mia Goths of the industry who are aware of and celebrate films made before the year 2000.

by Anonymousreply 36August 29, 2024 8:02 PM

MBB is one lucky girl. Almost completely talent-free.

by Anonymousreply 37August 29, 2024 8:05 PM

Winona looks gorgeous in these red carpet photos. And she looks happy.

I remember this earlier this summer a poster talked about how she looked so much better than Paltrow. I bet he changed his mind now!

by Anonymousreply 39August 29, 2024 10:08 PM

R39?? She doesn’t look bad in that picture. Winona is still a pretty bitch. So what, her neck is starting to look 50 something. Winona looks great and natural. She has never had plastic surgery and looks better than a lot of these fake ass twenty something year old thots.

by Anonymousreply 40August 29, 2024 10:21 PM

by Anonymousreply 43August 29, 2024 11:01 PM

R43, right on! 💯

by Anonymousreply 44August 29, 2024 11:04 PM

I have ADHD but I love movies especially when they are about a favorite subject. I can hyperfocus.

by Anonymousreply 45August 29, 2024 11:17 PM

She was horrible in Night on Earth as a gum-chewing, smoking can driver. Totally “acting.”

by Anonymousreply 46August 29, 2024 11:25 PM

r39 I'm gonna bet he didn't. Winona is still gorgeous, Gwyneth never even started at pretty.

by Anonymousreply 47August 29, 2024 11:26 PM

R47 I feel like Gwyneth is the type of chica who can present pretty. She certainly isn’t ugly, cute enough but nothing special without makeup. But she is tall, with beautiful blonde hair, and a long neck, so made up she can look pretty. I think she is prettier now than she was in youth because she looks better than most chicks her age. And doesn’t look like she had plastic surgery.

by Anonymousreply 48August 29, 2024 11:32 PM

R37- what are you talking about? I’ve only seen season 1 of Stranger Things but she was sensational in it. Maybe 10 kids on the entire planet could pull off that kind of performance. I can’t imagine a child actress having more talent.

by Anonymousreply 49August 29, 2024 11:40 PM

I love a good 3 hour movie. Obviously a bad 3 hour movie sucks but the great ones are better than 90 minute movies. Dogville and Magnolia are good examples. Also, last summer’s Mission Impossible movie was great and it wouldn’t have bothered me if it was longer!

by Anonymousreply 50August 29, 2024 11:46 PM

So many people complained about Oppenheimer being 3 hours long. Most people just don't have the attention span to watch a movie that long anymore. I always split up a long movie into two viewings at home.

by Anonymousreply 51August 29, 2024 11:57 PM

I’m sorry but in the OP’s photo she looks like James Carville in transition.

by Anonymousreply 52August 30, 2024 12:01 AM

by Anonymousreply 53August 30, 2024 12:07 AM

r52 You're sorry?

by Anonymousreply 54August 30, 2024 12:09 AM

Every "Mission Impossible" is foul-smelling caca.

by Anonymousreply 55August 30, 2024 12:12 AM

There is nothing pretty or attractive about that troll in that photo.

by Anonymousreply 56August 30, 2024 3:06 AM

[quote] Winona looks gorgeous in these red carpet photos. And she looks happy.

Winona really benefited from staying out of the sun.

Her pale skin has kept her looking youthful.

She's 53, for fuck's sake, and still looks like she's in her 20s.

by Anonymousreply 57August 30, 2024 4:49 AM

Unfortunately young actors didn't grow up watching movies. They watched TV and YouTube and strived to be on TV. Actors of previous generations wanted to be movie stars and make films for the big screen. Now with everything being blurred they just want to be famous and be on TV and phones. They don't care about the craft of acting for the most part. They want money and fame.

by Anonymousreply 58August 30, 2024 5:12 AM

I don’t think she’s ever gotten over her ridiculous “scandal,” which is why she’s so awkward in interviews. She always seems absolutely terrified.

She truly got the shaft compared to her contemporaries. GOOP is a cunt, JLo is a disordered bitch, Julia Roberts is a vicious homewrecker. She was always the gal from the wrong side of the tracks who made it big and got fucked because her support system was terrible. Got involved with some questionable people and fell into disarray.

Good to see her have some redemption. She seems like a humble person.

by Anonymousreply 59August 30, 2024 5:13 AM

I still consider her above Gwenyth and Lopez. Ryder and Roberts are the true Gen X film icons.

by Anonymousreply 60August 30, 2024 5:17 AM

I think her autobiography will be fascinating. She was best friends with an elitist, narcissistic, privileged cunt and tried to keep up. She fell into a trap and became a pariah.

Who knows how many people she was supporting. There’s a lot of damage there.

She survived and is now thriving and she should be proud. With all the evil bullshit that goes down in Hollywood, lifting a couple of blouses is a joke. She deserved better.

by Anonymousreply 61August 30, 2024 5:24 AM

Her "crimes" are harmless compared to most of Hollywood and I agree that she remains uncomfortable because of her past. Goop clearly backstabbed her and then attempted to get her cancelled before that was a thing. But most people that worked with her only had glowing things to say about her. She's a kind person at the center.

by Anonymousreply 62August 30, 2024 5:28 AM

Even when she dropped out of Godfather 3 Coppola was willing to work with her again. And that was 2 weeks before principal photography. That means he had no hard feeling and understood she was 19 and had just made 3 movies back to back to back.

by Anonymousreply 63August 30, 2024 5:31 AM

R61/R62 I don't know much about Winona, but what you are describing sounds fascinating!

Would either of you care to provide a short summary of what happened??

by Anonymousreply 64August 30, 2024 5:33 AM

If she had gutted it out and cheap ass Paramount ponied up for Duvall, Godfather III would have been a classic.

by Anonymousreply 65August 30, 2024 5:33 AM

R65 agree. They also had to water down the Mary role so a non actor could play it. You can see holes all over her character. No way it was written that way.

by Anonymousreply 66August 30, 2024 5:35 AM

R64 in short. Her and Goop became BFF with G being the social climber she is since Winona was a hot hip actress at the time. They dated BFFs Matt Damon and Ben Affleck at the same time and things got sour when "supposedly" Gwenyth housesitting for Winona found the Shakespeare in Love script at her house, read it and then took it and chased the part through her own Hollywood connections. They had a falling out and Gwen low key mocked her after her theft ordeal.

by Anonymousreply 67August 30, 2024 5:40 AM

R64 She was busted on security cameras stealing some clothes from a department store. Neiman Marcus, Lord Taylor; it doesn’t really matter.

Her career was destroyed. She also had some prescriptions that were questionable but that’s irrelevant in a town where blow is passed around like Tic Tacs.

Note that this is a town that still reveres Roman Polanski and Jack Nicholson. Two bigger pieces of sexually abusive shit you’d be hard-pressed to find.

She never recovered. GOOP, who was supposedly her pal, stole the script for “Shakespeare in Love” from her place and won the Oscar. She wasn’t capable of fighting back and her career was annihilated.

Through pure perseverance, she found her way. It took a long time. Not to mention having to answer for her relationship with Johnny Depp, which was practically a crime at the time considering her age.

She’s a survival story. And fuck that hillbilly-faced GOOP.

by Anonymousreply 68August 30, 2024 5:42 AM

It doesn't take much to see Paltrow is an underhanded spoiled backstabbing bitch. She went full All About Eve on Winona.

by Anonymousreply 69August 30, 2024 5:47 AM

I can't figure out what plastic surgeries she's had. She looks odd

by Anonymousreply 70August 30, 2024 5:48 AM

“Kidman frustrated by colleagues’ lack of interest in Gnip Gnop“

by Anonymousreply 71August 30, 2024 5:52 AM

Thanks, R67 and R68.

That's just crazy!

I never liked Goop to begin with, and my instincts were right about her.

She's DIRTY.

by Anonymousreply 72August 30, 2024 5:52 AM

GOOP has never paid for her crimes. But she will. One day.

by Anonymousreply 73August 30, 2024 5:55 AM

I still stand her behind her Jo in Little Women was just as I imagined reading the novel as a young gayling. Hepburn and June Allison tried too hard with the phony tomboy thing. Ryder played it with just right with a mix of bright joyous wonderment and non traditional young girl. And she is heartbreaking in it. It's also the gold standard to me of all the versions. Gerwig's was a disaster in my eyes and stole from from the 94 version while amplifying the feminism that fell flat to me.

by Anonymousreply 74August 30, 2024 5:58 AM

Another odd element was that Timothy Leary was her godfather. And Leary was married at one point to Uma Thurman’s mother.

Those two would seem to have a lot of commonality but there’s no reported intersection between them. She’s a far better actress than Thurman.

The new Criterion video mentioned by the poster above:

by Anonymousreply 78August 30, 2024 6:07 AM

You’re conflating some different events, R68. It was 2002 when she was arrested for shop lifting, at least 6 or 7 years after Paltrow was cast in Shakespeare in Love.

As Ed Zwick details in his somewhat boring memoir, Julia Roberts had already been cast in the role and its initial production already begun under his direction - sets were built! - when Roberts dropped out due to a lack of confidence doing a British accent and having already bagged one night of love from Daniel Day-Lewis who declined to play Shakespeare as he was already committed to Jim Sheridan’s In the Name of the Father. The production shut down and the project went into turnaround and was unlikely ever to be made because any new producer would have to assume the cost of the 1st production. Harvey Weinstein committed some hefty negotiation and got the price down on the script which he wanted to make with Miramax - so Paltrow would’ve undoubtedly seen the script at some point, as she’d already gone into production with Miramax on Emma, which filmed in 1995. That she happened to see it first at Ryder’s home is a story but kind of immaterial - at that time, Ryder would’ve had every script in Hollywood that Julia Roberts wasn’t already committed to so it would’ve been among tons of other scripts. And if she wanted it, she could’ve fought for it but was already very much involved with bringing Girl, Interrupted to the screen, a film that in all her good nature, she handed over to Angelina Joliet, more or less eclipsing her own stardom.

Following it up with the ironically DOA terminal illness romance Autumn in New York, the horror flop Lost Souls and an Adam Sandler comedy suggests her career was on the skids well before the shoplifting allegations came to light in mid-2002, many years after Paltrow had already won an Oscar for Shakespeare in Love and was already dealing with the slide of her own career.

by Anonymousreply 79August 30, 2024 6:07 AM

R37, Chloe Sevigny was already an Oscar-nominated actress by the year 2000. Of course she would be aware of films produced prior to that year.

by Anonymousreply 80August 30, 2024 6:09 AM

She really should just say “Yeah, I tried to lift some clothes 25 years ago as a dumb 20-something. I’ve grown and moved on. Next question.”

She’s been far too meek about it for far too long. Own it. Move forward. People respect that.

by Anonymousreply 81August 30, 2024 6:11 AM

I remember when the shoplifting allegations first came to light, I was visiting my fundamentalist Christian brother and his fundie sister in law was there babysitting his two kids - you can’t leave two kids alone with their gay uncle! - and when the news came on tv, I was quite sympathetic to Winona because obviously it was a cry for help as she could’ve otherwise afforded the items, and I turned to the fundie sister in law and remarked, “Aw, that’s too bad,” and she was like, “LET HER FRY!!!!”

Of course they’re all big Trump supporters today who believe he’s been treated “unfairly”.

by Anonymousreply 82August 30, 2024 6:15 AM

The act itself is really inconsequential to a millionaire who can afford $4000 in clothes a million times over. It was a bit much to embarrass her the way they did.

by Anonymousreply 83August 30, 2024 6:16 AM

Her Abigail Williams in The Crucible is a bit underrated I think. It was a decent adaptation that was never really gonna play to a massive audience in America. But all the actors in it were wonderful. The girl that played Mary was amazing in fact.

by Anonymousreply 84August 30, 2024 6:19 AM

She’s a great example of how disloyal and shitty show business is.

Cher was her close friend after “Mermaids” and she dumped her. As she has to countless people in peril. Michelle Pfeiffer was her pal after the Scorsese pic and she ghosted her as well.

Meanwhile, Cher is an opportunistic, white trash slut and Pfeiffer was in a cult. Neither are role models.

I find her quite remarkable because she gutted it out and survived on her own terms. No help from her “friends.”

by Anonymousreply 85August 30, 2024 6:20 AM

Well, there is an intersection, R77. Ryder stars with Thurman’s daughter, Maya Hawke on Stranger Things, who she references above, who is also the daughter of Ethan Hawke, who played Gen X heart throb, Troy, opposite Ryder in Reality Bites. They’re like a Gen X poster couple, if you believe the nostalgia hype around that film, though it really didn’t have much impact at the time (with its cloying self-promotion at the time as The Graduate for Gen X, which may have been apt given how little impact The Graduate actually had on the hippie generation).

by Anonymousreply 86August 30, 2024 6:22 AM

Her male friends have not. All the 90s musicians she ran around with , Ethan Hawke and Christian Bale still speak fondly of her.

by Anonymousreply 87August 30, 2024 6:25 AM

In the 90s the offbeat cool chicks who were into weed and music dudes wanted to be Winona and the slutty cheerleader future frau types wanted to be Julia Roberts.

by Anonymousreply 88August 30, 2024 6:29 AM

Her impact has always been underrated. “Heathers” is everything “Mean Girls” wishes it was, but with venom and teeth. The latter is a laughably sanitized version of the former.

by Anonymousreply 89August 30, 2024 6:35 AM

^100%. It was true dark satire vs cutesy wanna be satire. If you grew up with Heathers Mean Girls was mildly amusing. All it did was name the type. Heathers uses a completely more intelligent and thought provoking look at it. But to be fair Mean Girls was intended to appeal to the masses. Heathers was a small indie film the became a sleeper cult classic.

by Anonymousreply 90August 30, 2024 6:42 AM

I just rewatched Heathers the other night (having seen it in the cinema opening weekend, back in 1989) and Tina Fey basically just remade Heathers as Mean Girls but with less bite. It’s like she just put a sheet of tracing paper over Heathers. And Winona is great as Veronica Sawyer.

by Anonymousreply 91August 30, 2024 6:43 AM

R91 “Mean Girls” is just a Disneyfied “Heathers.” It deserves far more love than it receives. Deliciously cynical. You couldn’t make it today.

“Lick it up, baby. Lick it up.”

by Anonymousreply 92August 30, 2024 6:49 AM

I envision Winona reading this thread and feeling great satisfaction.

by Anonymousreply 93August 30, 2024 6:53 AM

With a monocle.

by Anonymousreply 94August 30, 2024 6:56 AM

[quote] “Mean Girls” is just a Disneyfied “Heathers.” It deserves far more love than it receives. Deliciously cynical. You couldn’t make it today.

I agree.

I kept expecting the movie to be funny, but it never was. It was very dark.

The Christian Slater character was basically a murderer, and a precursor to modern day school shooters.

by Anonymousreply 95August 30, 2024 12:42 PM

Millie Brown really lucked out with that Netflix deal. It’s extending her career longer than it should be lasting.

by Anonymousreply 96August 30, 2024 1:00 PM

I get MBB's career she's just Netflix go to star to be in crappy tween girl targeted movies and they do OK because "hey its Eleven from Stranger Things". Why the rest of Hollywood keeps trying to get Finn Wolfhard and David Harbour to happen is the real stranger thing.

by Anonymousreply 97August 30, 2024 1:16 PM

A lot of youngsters working on films or TV shows with her probably don't care about film history because they're pushed into the industry by their parents. I doubt Millie Bobby Brown really wanted to be an actress.

For all we know those kids have a huge curiosity about other subjects. And frankly, I find a breadth of knowledge about Hollywood movies to be quite shallow. But I know its DL Im posting on and there are a lot of theater queens here.

by Anonymousreply 98August 30, 2024 6:27 PM

Why is Winona single?

Is she a lesbian?

I'm so glad she's in the spotlight again. Such a wonderful actor and human.

by Anonymousreply 100August 30, 2024 10:50 PM

Winona is unusual, but she is very smart.

by Anonymousreply 101August 30, 2024 11:11 PM

What the fuck happened to her face?

by Anonymousreply 102August 30, 2024 11:15 PM

[quote]Such a wonderful actor and human.

She's not.

by Anonymousreply 103August 30, 2024 11:17 PM

She looks terrible in this picture. I saw other from the same moment where she looks better. She had good moments has an actress but to think that she is being lauded as an intelligent film buff just shows how standards have fallen (unlikeher tight face and chav bun).

by Anonymousreply 104August 30, 2024 11:18 PM

^as an actress

by Anonymousreply 105August 30, 2024 11:19 PM

Winona back in the day was nicknamed Wanna Ride Her due to her groupie ways with musicians. I am surprised Goop and her were ever bffs. Never found Winona pretty Too pixieish and short for me and oddly weird too.

by Anonymousreply 106August 30, 2024 11:32 PM

R55- have you seen every Mission Impossible movie? The last one was the best reviewed movie of 2023. Truth.

by Anonymousreply 107August 30, 2024 11:35 PM

She’s not single. Has a hot boyfriend for 13 years now.

R108. Oh. So he's a 'fashion designer.'. Huh. Ok bro.

by Anonymousreply 109August 31, 2024 12:05 AM

I've never heard anyone ask - how long is this movie? before going to it.

Jesus - some of you are such simpletons. '

And Millie Brown should be embarrassed of herself - she's an actress. She should be watching older films - just for the knowledge of it all and to not come across as a dimwit.

In the same vein, GOOD models will learn about the designers and fashion history somewhat. Hell - ANY young person going into an industry should learn about what they're going into.

Millie sounds like an idiot - Winona is right.

by Anonymousreply 110August 31, 2024 12:13 AM

[quote]It doesn't take much to see Paltrow is an underhanded spoiled backstabbing bitch.

If you don't believe Winona then just ask Madonna.

by Anonymousreply 111August 31, 2024 12:21 AM

Millie Bobby Brown is a complete, wretched cunt, who will be nobody going forward. Dumb bitch, I hope she saves her Stranger Things money.

by Anonymousreply 112August 31, 2024 2:06 AM

I absolutely love that Winona called it (without actually saying it: classy) that MBB is a shallow idiot. Period.

I hope we don't have to be subjected to her now that she's married off to the Bongjiovi crotchfruit.

by Anonymousreply 113August 31, 2024 2:26 AM

Nobody cares about her today except op

by Anonymousreply 114August 31, 2024 2:40 AM

^^MBB and/or Gen Z

by Anonymousreply 115August 31, 2024 2:43 AM

Is MBB the one who is 18 but looks 57? How much of a career is she really going to have?

by Anonymousreply 116August 31, 2024 10:13 AM

Yes.

I read something online about Winona Ryder about five years ago and the more I thought about it, I realized it was a Winona thread from DL appx five years ago. The big take-away was this: it said Winona has been through a lot in Hollywood, sometimes in the public eye, and sometimes not, she’s a fragile flower, very sweet, not a mean person, decent. And as we move forward, never come for her. She needs to be treated with kid gloves at all times.

by Anonymousreply 118August 31, 2024 12:52 PM

Winona needs to open ca can of whoop ass on those ingrates

by Anonymousreply 119August 31, 2024 12:56 PM

r118 are you for real??

by Anonymousreply 120August 31, 2024 1:11 PM

[quote] She looks awful.

I would disagree, darling. How sad I feel for you.

A lot of the younger ones are looking at fast "easy" cash and don't give a shit about the craft.

AND they want to be famous, R123.

Fame is everything to this generation.

Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and OnlyFans has made even the lamest of GenZers into a STAH.

They all want to go "viral."

Oh, they're VIRAL, all right.

by Anonymousreply 124August 31, 2024 2:27 PM

She look horrible! She is three years away from being Norma Desmond.

by Anonymousreply 125August 31, 2024 3:54 PM

She looks perfectly fine in the Criterion video linked at R78, and that was presumably shot within the last month.

by Anonymousreply 126August 31, 2024 4:04 PM

Maybe she could steal a light shade of eyeliner.

by Anonymousreply 127September 2, 2024 1:11 AM

lol

by Anonymousreply 128September 2, 2024 1:13 AM

I agree and I’m in my mid 20s. When I took a course about the history of film in my last semster of college, I was the only student who really participated and had prior knowledge of the films we watched and discussed in class. Most of the people in the class also were not into older movies at all which was expected but still disappointing.

by Anonymousreply 129September 2, 2024 1:17 AM

[quote] Maybe she could steal a light shade of eyeliner.

She should have stolen that script back from Gwyneth. She could have been an Oscar winner.

by Anonymousreply 130September 2, 2024 2:57 AM

Even in that Criterion video she's stealing a bunch of blu-rays! She slips them right into her bag--right in front of the camera!
