So what are you doing for the Kamala/Walz campaign?
I went to my beet-red county's Democratic Party office on Saturday, and the place was chock full of volunteers! We actually had to wait in line to get assignments! I was given postcards to address and mail (and to buy the postage for as well), but I also volunteered to go door-to-door starting next week.
There's hope for the red states, people!
So what are you doing to help our candidates win?

You are going door knocking in a red state? And you are gay? Please check in after so we know you survived. I hope the worse you experience is a few doors slammed in your face.

It was here on DL that I learned that they only send you to knock on doors of people who are registered Democrats. So no, I'm not worried about it.

Thanks for posting, R5. It does my heart good to hear it.

I am in Ca - the year we needed Warnock and Ossoff in Georgia for the senate - my friend ( not lazy me) went to Dem headquarters and got a stack of a addresses in Ga and a form letter which she would hand write and mail to these - was it Undecideds? Anyway she has always been perfect. Damn. At least she is a Democrat.

I’ve donated some to Harris and more to a few GOTV orgs in the battleground states.
OP thanks for getting so involved!

Post-carding is a good way to get involved if you live in a blue state and aren't up for travelling. I've written 200 to Arizona addresses.

R14 Even if you don’t live in a blue state you can get addresses for writing postcards to people who do.

I’ve written 100 postcards to Native Americans in AZ with info on registering to vote and how to contact their community organizers.
Currently, I’m writing 200 postcards for GOTV in MI due to mail in 3weeks and I have another 100 on the way from my union to go out to fellow union members.
When I get a chance, I will stop by the local Dem HQ and see if they need anything like snacks or drinks.
I’m working the polls on Election Day, so no canvassing for me at the last minute.

I am genuinely tempted to do this and see what happens.
Not in my yard of course, but my MAGA neighbor in the dead of night. I just need to make the flag difficult, but not impossible to remove. It has to be quick and not resorting to cement/digging.
Ideas?

R17 No ideas for you, but I do encourage my dog to pee on my MAGA neighbor’s yard sign on walks.

Making phone calls is easy. They give you a list of people and phone numbers and you're given a script, but you can wing it too. These are likely Democrats who you are just reminding to them to vote or donate $$ or help out. Most people are really friendly and they want to chat. They feel very glad that someone from the campaign reaches out to them.

R23 and others, what is important is that these activities increase visibility and energize people who are sitting at home worrying. You'd be surprised (or not) to discover how isolated some people feel and when you reach out to them, or when they see people out here working it is very encouraging. It lifts spirits and makes people want to associate with the campaign. No one likes a dour loser. But to see the enthusiasm and good spirits is very energizing.

I made a 1 time 100.00 donation then set up a monthly 40.00 donation with Act Blue. Ordered my yard sign, bumper stickers and Camo Kamala hat.
I was asked to make local calls, but since I (thankfully) live in a safe blue state, I’m going to see if I can get on a list to make calls in a swing state on Election Day.
What I’d like to do is set up a “Boomers for Harris” zoom call akin to “Women for Harris”, but I have no idea how to do it.
I need to figure this out.

I think this is interesting - my mom is 87 ( 88 in Oct ) she was really following the election - as soon as Kamala jumped in she was really engaged - watching CNN and MSNBC daily. She was really looking forward to the Harris - Trump debate. that morning she fell and broke her shoulder - paramedics - drama. She’s fine - well she can’t walk but - fine. After the hospital she has had 2 weeks in a skilled nursing rehab facility. Aside from the basic channels - they ONLY have Fox News channel! Talk about brainwashing people. She has been enduring Tamron Hall and a lot of Football games and is coming home today. ……. I know I should kick ass and find out why they carry Fox News and no other channels but - I just don’t have the energy. I will once she gets home.

R31 that can be so enraging. It’s a captive audience situation with no choice. Curious what % voted for Trump in her county? It may be the hospital catering to what it thinks its patients want.. or it could be right wingers in charge and they don’t care what the patients might want.
Hope your mom heals to the max.

I hope your mom recovers quickly, R31. I broke my shoulder two years ago and it's not OK yet -- nor will it ever be. So here's hoping your mom does better.
I'm just posting to echo the Fox News mandatory viewing issue. For years, when I went to VA medical facilities, the TVs in the waiting rooms were all tuned to Fox.
But after Biden was elected, you'll never guess what channel they put on. Yes, the gay man's dream channel, House and Garden! That sure was a drastic change! But I was happy to have a channel to watch that I could actually stand to look at that was somewhat amusing.
So you're not the only one noticing this shit. Go in there and make a fuss! There are people in that facility that need you.

I live in very blue RI. An elderly woman I know (retired Brown University professor) has asked me to joinher group to address mailers to a county in very red states, and I happily agreed. She holds a 'get together' in her apartment each Saturday for about an hour or so, and we all take a seat at her dining table or in her living room, and get to work. On a rotating schedule, we take turns bringing in DD 'Box of Joe' while others bring in 'munchies'. It's not only a rewarding time, making a difference in history, but a fun time as well. I'm glad she invited me, and I will be sad when it ends.

MONEY!! A lot of it.
After 2020 elections, I got pissed off about how my client's money got spent in losing elections (Jamie Harrison in SC& Amy McGrath in Ken.). My clients asked me to find out, so I did. I called 2 Dems. who would not Bullshit me (Bob Brady& Ed Rendell). I got a call from my favorite Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi & she suggested we meet. Now we are "besties 4ever".
I do have a way of "pissing off" people in power.

We are all doing what we can, where we can because we all understand how important it is.
Some of us are doing it out of a sense of duty or anxiety, while others feel the weight of history or enjoy the comraderie.
What matters is we are all doing something. We are all in it together.

I hope all these mailers (including the ones I do) are making a difference. I fear the recipient will just toss it in the trash (like I do with every political mailer). If a 'Trump' postcard came to me, I'd crumple it up and toss it - not reading it.

That’s the thing with postcards and mailers, tho, r48, you SEE IMMEDIATELY what it’s about.
You cannot help but SEE it. Unlike letters or calls/texts that you can ignore, postcards are in your face and you see them whether you want to or not.

To R42, YES, Ed Rendell had a home on Warden Drive, a 7 minute walk from my house in East Falls.
Nice big single home. his ex-wife (Marg) got the home in the divorce. Senator Arlen Spector had a home across the street.
"Fast Eddie" Rendell still calls me by my birth name-Mike.

Phillywhore @ R51, someday I'd love to hear you break down the events associated with MOVE -- if you're old enough to have lived in the Philly area when that happened. It was a case study for a grad school Public Administration class I had (as was Three Mile Island).
Nothing like PA disasters being used as case studies in textbooks.
