The Monobrow Brothers reunite to cash in.
They are so overrated. The only Oasis tracks any good are Supersonic and the title trick to to What's the Story Morning Glory. Wonderwall is sickening tripe.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 26, 2024 11:49 AM |
We'll see if this is the real deal, tomorrow morning (UK time). Noel supposedly finally caved after the promised take hit $50 million pounds each. He's insisting that his current band, High Flying Birds, be the backing band - no Bonehead or Andy Bell it seems.
I wonder who is going to manage the tour - Debbie, Liam's very sharp manager/gf? Who has orchestrated is huge comeback in recent years. Would Noel have issues with her in charge due to her loyalty to Liam. Questions, questions.

R1 I loved Don't Look Back in Anger when I was a kid.
Still do, actually.
I think they have about six good songs. Three great ones (Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova, Live Forever).
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 26, 2024 6:54 PM |
Slide Away is my favourite.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 26, 2024 9:12 PM |
They saw Taygreedy charging £500 per ticket and thought, I'll have some of that.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 26, 2024 9:12 PM |
What did Thom Yorke say about them? Really stupid guys pretending to be working class making primitive music. Oasis SUCKS.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 26, 2024 9:37 PM |
So it's on. Which of you UK bitches are going to queue up this weekend to get the over-priced tickets?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 27, 2024 4:27 PM |
The New York Times thought this was worthy of a Breaking News alert. I know the week before Labor Day is a slow news time, but seriously?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 27, 2024 4:38 PM |
They never reached high popularity in the US, r8, for various reasons. But they are the biggest band in the UK from the past 30 years, and the biggest British band everywhere else on the globe during the 90s/00s.
This is big news in the UK, they will outsell TSwift next year there.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 27, 2024 5:08 PM |
Supersonic is their best song
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 27, 2024 5:25 PM |
I liked a few of their songs but always thought they were exponentially overrated compared to their actual talent(s).
There's a long list of UK artists that I think were shamefully ignored in the States that deserved the attention Oasis got. And in the Blur vs Oasis battle (which was a dumb hyped up press thing) I was always more of a Blur fan - still listen to their music, whereas I barely even think about any Oasis song.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 27, 2024 5:32 PM |
They were “celebrities” more than musicians. And they were so full of themselves, it was a turn-off in the US.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 27, 2024 5:37 PM |
Only The Poms like these Louts. No one else gives a rat's arse.

The correct answer was Pulp, of course.

Like R11, I remain a big Blur fan.
While I do like some Oasis songs, I find that Liam's voice on the songs he sings the lead on to be even more whiny than they sounded when they first came out. As for the songs on which Noel sings lead, I never get tired of those.

I was a Blur gal. Still am
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 1, 2024 11:58 PM |

Suede and Stone Roses were my favorite Britpop bands. Then Blur, Elastica, Placebo, etc. I couldn't stand Oasis.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 2, 2024 12:25 AM |
I wish they had killed each other years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 2, 2024 12:31 AM |
I own two of their tracks, but I usually skip over them because each begins with a long pause.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 2, 2024 12:33 AM |
I can’t remember…are either of them cocksuckers?
If not, meh.

No, but they do blow.

Oasis opted in to dynamic pricing with Ticketmaster so tickets ranged from $386.50 and $488. People were only able to see the prices once they reached the head of the queue.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 2, 2024 1:23 AM |
Dynamic pricing is evil. It really is - imagine being in a digital queue for hours to get tickets, and when you finally reach the point of purchase the price is jacked up three-fold from that advertised.
I'm not sure if the band was able to opt in or out of this - it's the brainchild of Ticketmaster and Live Nation and other major ticket sellers. I don't know if the artists involved have a say.
If they were smart (or fair to fans) they'd try to have a couple of outdoor free shows at the end of the tour, to enable fans a chance to see them. But I don't think its certain this pair will make it to the end of the scheduled tour, so we'll have to see.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 2, 2024 2:07 AM |
90% of Britpop was vastly overrated. A lot of it hasn't aged well at all. Pulp were good, though.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 2, 2024 2:16 AM |
Weren’t they rumored to be major assholes? That’s all I mostly recall hearing about them. Their music was just okay, not anything to rival the great rock acts of their day (just my opinion).
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 2, 2024 2:20 AM |
Rumored? It was widely known that they were assholes. Especially Liam.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 2, 2024 2:26 AM |
Well I have to say that I agree with his hate list.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 2, 2024 2:48 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 2, 2024 5:57 AM |
R29: well, it was somewhat charming when he was 22, but at almost 45... (his age at the time of that interview).
Liam was described here on DL once as having an "almost subhuman level of intelligence," making the platitudes spouted by his brother seemed witty and enlightened by comparison.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 2, 2024 6:15 AM |
The return of these tedious, homophobic pub-rock dinosaurs (whose turgid music is currently flooding the charts again here in the UK) is truly depressing and retrograde.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 2, 2024 6:20 AM |
Amen, R33!
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 2, 2024 6:23 AM |
Sold out of course. (Any act that used to be even a remotely big thing in the UK always sells out in hours it seems.)
An estimated £400 Million tour for which each brother should receive a minimum of £50 Million. Secondary market tickets for £7000 today if you must.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 2, 2024 7:19 AM |
What they did to Michael Hutchence was pretty bad, although apparently he'd been giving interviews saying he'd beat Liam up. None of them could have beaten anyone up, especially not Hutchence.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 2, 2024 10:33 AM |
It will be a miracle if these shows happen. I wouldn't doubt the reunion will be called off during rehearsals.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 2, 2024 2:22 PM |
Guess the brothers have decided not to look back in anger.
They're a couple of assholes.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 2, 2024 2:34 PM |
Liam Gallagher was unforgivably homophobic but he's tried to rebrand recently and goes round telling interviewers how much he likes Harry Styles. 15 years ago he'd have yelled at Harry that he was 'a batty boy' or 'a faggot'.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 3, 2024 1:16 AM |
Liam was always a laughing stock among his brighter Britpop peers (and there were many). I can't imagine a sharp, literate mind like Luke Haines dealing with Liam.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 3, 2024 1:29 AM |
Pulp was so underrated when these turds were in the papers every fucking day.

[quote] Liam Gallagher has shrugged off criticism over the Oasis ticket sale fiasco in a series of tweets – including telling one fan to “shut up” and another to buy “kneeling tickets”.
[quote] On Friday morning, Liam posted on X: “OASIS are back your welcome and I hear there ATTITUDE STINKS good to know something’s never change.”
Oh, dear.
[quote]When fans responded by criticising the ticketing approach, including one X user who said he “didn’t expect [Oasis] to rip off the fans as much as they have done”, Gallagher replied: “SHUTUP”.
Charming

As Damon Albarn sneered about Liam Gallagher in the British music press decades ago, when Liam got a bit lairy: "He probably hasn't had his ration of chips [fries] today. Or his milk."
Jarvis Cocker, when asked if he would kick Damon Albarn out of bed: "I have."

Jarvis was the best. He and two of the guys from Massive Attack planned to torpedo Wacko Jacko's song at the BRITs one year, they were so pissed off at his antics. Only Jarvis made it past security.

Liam looks like some kind of overgrown chimpanzee.

by Anonymous | reply 54 | September 7, 2024 3:58 PM |
Harry is more successful than 1d ever were. Reuniting with them would damage his brand.
Liam was recently outed as guilty of chasing his girlfriend round the house with an axe and forcing her to have an abortion. Louis is a proud alcoholic who drinks half a pint of vodka on stage every night.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | September 7, 2024 6:53 PM |
Imagine having the same haircut at 52 you had at 22. Liam is now an aged ape.
P.S. it was funny when he (of all people) described ex-wife Patsy Kensit as "pretty vacant."

R55 It's kinda funny how they wanted to market the 1D as sweet, good-natured, next-door boys and once they grew up (except maybe for Niall) their true chav nature came to light.

Niall is a functioning alcoholic. His guitarist talked about his second audition for Niall's backing band being in the pub to see if he could keep up on a heavy night out. Another band member said they'd go out after the show and drink ten pints each.
Liam has talked about going to rehab for three months for alcohol and cocaine but he's not sober and spends his days on permanent vacation in places like LA, Miami, Paris and Greece. His girlfriend is a 25 year old gold-digger from New Jersey, 100lbs with huge fake tits.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | September 10, 2024 5:29 AM |
The funniest article I ever read in a trash mag was an interview with the third Gallagher brother who was obese, off his face and unstintingly arrogant. One of the UK tabloids had dug him up and the headline ran something like: "He's their brother and he's heavy".
by Anonymous | reply 63 | September 10, 2024 10:22 AM |
