For all his faults (and indulgences of his stupid son), he's an honorable man & didn't deserve the treatment he received; but his blank faced, shuffling performance confirmed that the Dems did the right thing & replaced him.

No other Democrat politician could have won 2020 and accomplished what he has. He will be remembered as one of *the best* American presidents who used his time in the White House to help the most people as quickly as he could.

When others are elected (to either one or two terms), the amount he was able to accomplish will be the new benchmark, forever.

It was a touching tribute to his long career. I’m sure he was gratified by their enthusiastic affection & appreciation.

For most of his career, Biden was just some guy. People liked him but he was not seen as intelligent or important. But the end of his career is astonishing. He defeated Trump, he passed significant legislation, and ended on with genuine nobility.

Clearly, he's still pissed. From the interview, President Biden still thinks he could have won.

Which is interesting, because now it really looks like he was pushed out. He wouldn't have left on his own, if he still thought he could win. President Biden stated, "... we were only a few points behind." Those are the words of someone who still had some fight in him.

So not only was the question valid, but it shed some insight into his true feelings.

Joe Biden feels like he was forced out, no matter how you look at it. And that would explain the look on his, Jill's, and the rest of his family's faces at the convention.

If all of the Democrats fought for him like Crockett, AOC, Swalwell, Pete, Harris, and a few others had and as hard as they fought against one another I believe he would have won.

And let's not even mention his close links to the Ukrainian spoils system that he contributed to develop, and from which his family has benefited enormously. Millions of people have died or suffered horribly because of his actions and he deserves to rot in hell. There is NOTHING honorable about him.

His pathetic attempts to read from the teleprompter during the DNC Convention are downright embarrassing, and the fact that he has been forced to endorse Harris after his so-called "friends" have stabbed him in the back in the worst possible way, is DELIGHTFUL. That is a good point, R34. The real problem is that many people in here genuinely believe that attacking anyone who isn't praised by corporate media, makes them enlightened geniuses whose opinions cannot be contested. It's truly sad how everything has become superficial and decayed in the last 40 years, and many people joyfully partake in their own exploitation out of sheer cowardice, because challenging their own beliefs terrifies them.

It surprises me how little exposure some posters who participate in the political threads here seem to have had to a wide cross-section of opinion. Someone like Noam Chomsky--whose mind I respect--is too far left for me, but I recognize his influence when I see it, and I would never automatically assume that a left-of-center poster was Russian. R41 Trump is a useful idiot for the power hungry extreme right nefarious factions, domestic and foreign, who have no qualms about abolishing the US democracy and the constitution for power and riches. The only thing that kept Trump's presidency for going to that extreme were all the norms, guardrails and legal restrictions in place. None of that will be a problem during a second Trump term, in part due to the corrupt SCOTUS who basically gave immunity to the presidency for crimes.

Biden is being elevated to warrior status against the Trumpublicans.
