Name a product you like that you recommend DLers try.
Can be food, toiletries, cleaning products, household gadgets, pet supplies, etc.
I recommend trying the Walmart Pumpkin Sandwich Cookies this Fall season. I discovered them through a youtuber several years ago and they are very good. I have purchased them every year since.
A light whipped cream cheese frosting with a very slight hint of cinnamon between two soft, cakey pumpkin cookies.
The flavors are well balanced, not overpowering and not too weak. I've taken then to the Office and to get togethers and everyone has really liked them.

I wash all my laundry in a mix of Tide and Lestoil. Heavier on the Lestoil than the Tide. Loads come very clean. There is a slight Lestoil smell when they come out of the washer, but that completely dissipates in the dryer.

Such watches show REAL industrial and mechanical finesse, at a very fair price. So many things are a rip off nowadays but here is a superfluous commodity that delivers. And it's a pleasure and calming to occasionally just watch the movement and reflect on time ticking slowly cleanly onward.

I'm surprised Kroger can call that Carbmaster stuff they sell "yogurt," since the No. 1 ingredient is water, and from the taste (and aftertaste) of it, something supplied from public works in Kentucky where it's made along with whatever that undisclosed "bioengineered food ingredient" they put in it is. I've tried it more than once. Never again. My boyfriend took one spoonful of it once and spit it out.

Oz Polish by Mohawk
Through the years I've collected a number of mid-century modern vintage furniture. I've tried countless products, but nothing compares to this polish. It transforms wood furniture, bringing it back to life with a beautiful shine that lasts. It dries quickly, isn't greasy, and even minimizes the appearance of scratches—unlike other polishes that only look good when wet. I discovered this gem through a Facebook group of professional MCM furniture refinishers, and it’s now the only product I use.
What's even better is that this polish avoids the issues that come with silicone or citrus-based polishes. Those products might seem effective at first, but they often leave a sticky buildup that can dull the finish over time. Worse, they can actually damage the wood by trapping moisture or eating away at the protective layers. This polish, on the other hand, nourishes and protects the wood without any of those downsides. It’s especially great for larger projects, although I also recommend the OZ Aerosol Spray for quick touch-ups. My living room tables look brand new, and my kitchen cabinets have never looked better. It’s truly a must-have for anyone serious about maintaining or restoring their wood furniture!

My old bed fell apart and I needed a new one. But I just moved, which was expensive, and couldn't afford to get a brand new bed right now. So I decided to try an air mattress.
I bought a King Koil, which is pricier than most air mattresses but worth it. It's 20 inches thick and extremely comfortable to sleep on. You plug it in and pump in air until it reaches the desired level of firmness.
I have a bad back but I've been sleeping on this for over two months now with no issues. I won't say it's as good as a regular bed and mattress, but it's definitely more comfortable than, say, a futon. I'll be buying a new bed soon but I'll be keeping this one for guests.

Sidney Pillow for Side Sleepers. Supposedly dupe for Coop Homegoods pillow. Tons of videos about the Sidney pillow on youtube and also comparing it to Coop.
Comes with extra foam. $39 on Amazon right now, but it fluctuates, usually approx. $50.
The video explains how to prep it before use.

Bio Cleaner ( 2 jars of paste comes with sponge and cloths)
I can only find it on QVC
I really had a hard time getting my black glass stove top completely free of smudges and smears despite trying expensive specialty cleaners
This cleans black glass stove top, stainless steel sinks, porcelain sinks, grills, etc.
Inexpensive and really works with little elbow grease, my stainless kitchen sinks shine like new. Highly recommended

Any foot spa by Kendall. For some it may seem like something you’d use once or twice. I’ve had mine for over two years and use it on the regular. I have found that I like 1 foot at a time for better balance and a better range of things to do while I’m soaking, and I haven’t quite figured out how to up the temperature other than pressing the same button over and over or starting with warm or hot water. For me it was an excellent 100.00 investment.

Castelbel soap from Portgual is really great. There are many different scents. One called "Honey Comb is my favorite. It's really high quality. If you're ever at store like Home Goods look for it in their bath soap aisle. I find single and double packs of it there from time to time. Costs between $3.99 and $4.99 there. The bars are big. I cut them in half, so it's not that much more than a 2-pack of regular soap. Otherwise, it's too expensive for me. Usually sells on Amazon for around $12 a bar, sometimes higher elsewhere.

My sister turned me on to gel under eye patches. Put them on for 15 minutes in morning, really shrinks the under eye puffiness and brightens darkness. Does make a surprising albeit temporary difference. I don't use them everyday, just on "those mornings".
There are many brands at many prices, but these have no retinol or strong chemicals in them. I use Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hydra Gel eye Patches.

I don't find the gel eye patches sloppy. The ones I use come with a sort of flattened spoon tool. I use it to lift the patches from the jar, place under eye, use the tool to smooth them into place. No problem leaving them on for 15 minutes, whilst I enjoy morning coffee and read DL. Then just remove, there is no residue, skin feels slightly moist.

For emergency lunches when you want something semi-healthy.
The twin-packs of bagged salads from Costco. I just tried one for the first time. It was the "Sweet Kale" one. Not that much kale, actually. Basically, a chopped salad of cruciferous vegetables plus a pouch of salad dressing (creamy, little bit sweet) and a pouch of pumpkin seeds & dried cranberry. The price was reasonable.
This is inspiring me to "make" my own by just buying the chopped veg and making my own dressing.

They had Harry’s razor blade refills this time (none last month) at $9.99 a dozen with an extra handle and blade included. I’d recommend them. I use one cartridge a month so ten bucks to shave for a year. They’re as good as Gillette and seem to stay sharper longer.

Cognac, as a substitute for whiskey in cocktails. You've never tasted a Manhattan as smooth as one made with cognac. It's expensive if you drink like a fish, but if you're a 1 or 2 cocktail-a-night person, the cost (which, granted, is quite steep) more than worth it.

Sliced smoked turkey from Honey Baked Ham. It makes the most delicious turkey salad I've ever had, and it's much better than plain chicken salad.
Just chop the turkey in a food processor or by hand (but it has to be chopped rather fine), add minced onion and celery, S&P to taste, and mayo to whatever consistency you like. I also put in some toasted slivered almonds because I like them in this kind of salad. You might also try raisins or apples.
You can make a sandwich or serve the turkey salad on crackers. I couldn't believe how good it was. It tastes sort of like smoked whitefish salad without the fishy quality. Delicious.

On the other hand, you shouldn't use the stuff too often or you'll get terrible rebound when it wears off, which will be sooner and sooner the longer you use it it, until you're spraying up in the office bathroom, hoping no one notices your constant runny nose and thinks you're on cocaine.

Aveeno recently changed the formula for its fragrance-free body wash and it is no longer the same product at all. The first time I used the new formula it caused some sort of allergic reaction. Thus far Aveeno seem deaf to customer complaints on social media so I have been trying to find fragrance-free alternatives. The Whole Foods body wash at the link is pretty good although not nearly as moisturizing as the pre-reformulation Aveeno.

R303 go to INCIdecoder and type in the name of the product. It shows you the ingredients and what they do. You can use that info to find similar products. Or you can take a photo of the ingredients on the packaging and it will explain what they do. If there’s a particular ingredient that you’re interested in, it will list other products that have it.

The one I buy is "lightly scented," but you're right, it seems like the formula has changed. Just the look of it is different (more opaque, less translucent). However, it still seems to work the same, for me.

My husband buys a Twix once a week. He lets it melt in his car overnight or so, then takes out and puts it in the refrigerator. Every time we have sex, afterward, he will go to the refrigerator, get one Twix 'cookie' (as they call it on the label), break the one cookie in half and share it with me in bed. They really are better that way-- melted and re-solidified.

MicroPuzzles - 150 piece mini puzzles packed in test tubes. They don't take up a lot of space and you can do them in about an hour. I rediscovered puzzling over the pandemic and these are a nice break from a 1000 piece puzzle that sits on my kitchen table for a week and gives me anxiety every time I look at it. 😬

This one is weird, but if you ever come across Gucci uniform clothing, it has the best cotton quality you’ll ever experience.
I’ve stumbled upon shirts (they have embroidered holes for name badges at the left breast) as well as pants that press perfectly.
This is not show quality - it’s simply exquisite quality in fabric.

anyone use apps to track fitness? care to recommend one?

R359, I use the myfitnesspal app and it helped me lose 35 pounds. Plus it's free.
I track calories and cardio. I treat the gym as extra instead of counting it because that's complicated.

Barkeepers Friend.
That stuff is fantastic for cleaning stainless steel pans. It's not just an alternative to Comet. Not even related. It's only for stainless steel and a few other metal. Does not scratch, dissolves baked on food within 5 minutes. Been around for over 100 years and yet I keep meeting people that never heard of it.

[quote]Is cermeric nonstick cookware any good?
It's better than the old school non-stick coatings. But it still wears out over time. The main thing is never over heat it. Actually that goes for all non-sticks. It's not a pan you want sear a steak in. As long as you stick to things like making an omelet which is what most non-sticks are for it will last years.

Arm & Hammer Washing Soda, which, combined with Borax, one tbsp of each per load, makes a fine dishwasher or clothes washer detergent-substitute. It's cheaper and has fewer crappy chemicals.
To make your glassware sparkle, add a tsp of citric acid to a dishwasher load, but it's optional. Some also add a tsp of Epsom Salt to the dishwasher, esp if your dishes are very dirty, but it's also optional.
It's cheaper and the boxes are cardboard so you skip those big plastic jugs which last for centuries.

Oh - and "washing" soda instead of "baking" soda is better because the latter can leave small pieces of grit on your dishes (and maybe your clothes? in any case, it dissolves better)
