Has anyone here legally changed their first name? Why did you and from what to what?

Several women I went to school with now have different first names. I hate my first name but keep it out of respect for my parents.

I changed my name from Jebediah to Obadiah.

I just felt that I needed something a bit more modern than the name my parents gave me.

When I turned 18 years old, I changed my name from Michael F. McDermott to John J. Smythe.

I wanted nothing to do with my "non-DNA" Dad last name& my mom who allowed it to happen.

A woman I know changed her name from Kelly to Ruth after a “religious awakening “. Another changed from Beth to Amy. No explanation given.

I love my full name and am grateful for it. People often comment on it. I like how it looks and how it sounds.

My sister is in her early 50s now but when she was a kid she wanted to change her name to Krystal lol. That name has not aged well unless you're a stripper. I still bug her about it from time to time.
