Wants to be re-elected. Many see him as One Term Mayor the way he's handled the influx of from South of the Border. And his underlings haven't fared well.
Corrupt.

He's got bigger problems than running for reelection.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 17, 2024 12:06 AM |
I don't think we've ever had in NYC a more corrupt, self serving, lying, thieving administration as we have now. Even Giuliani looks like an angel compared to this crew. It's like a Kafka novel.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 17, 2024 12:09 AM |
He's cartoonishly corrupt and a real up-and-comer in the Republican party.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 17, 2024 3:32 AM |
He’s an opportunist who was a registered Republican for years but changed parties to get elected in NYC. Nevertheless, he ran by the standard Republican playbook, complaining about a spiraling crime problem (he’s an ex-cop) and then bragging about how that got him votes from the black working class in Queens and the Bronx. Defends the police no matter how badly they’ve ducked up, surrounds himself with cronies who ‘yes’ him to death, hates being closely questioned or contradicted, and several people close to him are under investigation for corruption or have been indicted for crimes.
He’s a fucking idiot and a nightmare.

Andrew Cuomo has the mayoralty is his comeback sights. If he goes for it, he will kick Eric’s ass in the primary and i think easily win the general. While anecdotes are not data, every single friend I’ve asked about voting for Cuomo has said fuck yes.

I don’t envy the next mayor of NYC- the immigrant crisis will take YEARS to unwind in a way that makes sense, and how to deal with flooding.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 17, 2024 7:42 AM |
In spite of this trolling, Eric Adams issues go WAY deeper than migrant concerns.

I love the way that man speaks yo. It’s so fkin boss yet highly sophisticated. I haven’t lived in New York in over a decade. Is he really as hated by New Yorkers as he is by the DL true crime enthusiasts lol.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 6, 2024 4:22 PM |
Ha. NYC hates this mayor. Adams has like a 20-25% approval rating on a good day, and half his inner circle is under federal investigation.
When the mayoral race (election Nov 2025) heats up next year he will be lucky to win his primary.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 6, 2024 4:28 PM |
R16- I'm crossing my fingers that this buffoon is not reelected.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 6, 2024 4:29 PM |
R16. Wow. I wonder how Al Sharpton feels about him.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 6, 2024 4:30 PM |
I mean, you thought DeBlasio was a low as we could go.
I'm hoping Garcia gets in the primary again, because she really should have won last time. But if not, I'll happily vote for Lander.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 6, 2024 4:32 PM |
I thought people considered DeBlasio a good mayor.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 6, 2024 4:35 PM |
He started out well, but he was a complete joke by the end of his second term.
I think we were hoping for a cleaner break from Bloomberg and didn't really get that.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 6, 2024 4:36 PM |
What do the crime stats say? Wasn't he elected mostly on that issue? So, has he made any headway on that front by now?

He is every investigative journalist's wet dream.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 6, 2024 4:41 PM |
Di Blasio had piss poor NYC approval ratings too, by the end of his term. It was beyond baffling that the man thought he had a shot at the US presidency in 2020.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 6, 2024 4:44 PM |
R24 😆 right. I was like I know we live in a post Obama era but this country aint about to elect an Italian-American who grew in upper middle class Connecticut and is married to a black sister souljah type dyke.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 6, 2024 4:51 PM |
It wasn't just all that, R25, though you're right! What galled me was the idea that Di Blasio got to be NYC mayor, and it didn't go well, his performance was poor, almost everybody disliked him.... and he thought he could springboard from that into the US presidency? Like no one from NYC was going to call out what a shitbag he was as mayor?
He didn't even get 1% of the primary vote if I recall correctly.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 6, 2024 4:55 PM |

And his aborted run for Congress in Brooklyn.
But even with all his shortcomings, Adams turned out to be worse. Incompetent is one thing. Incompetent and corrupt is something else.
I don't know why Jumaane Williams isn't running for mayor, unless he figures he'll end up as mayor if Adams ends up having to resign for all these federal investigations
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 6, 2024 4:56 PM |
Who finished second in RCV in the last primary? And are they still interested in the job?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 6, 2024 4:59 PM |
Jumaane Wlliams isn’t running because he’s a loser. There are two legit candidates running, The corruption probe is hurting Adams but remember he got his votes from Brooklyn and the Bronx. Not the progressives and liberals in Manhattan.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 6, 2024 5:00 PM |
Kathryn Garcia, former head of the Sanitation Department. With the RCV, she only lost by a few thousand votes. I believe she expressed interest, but aside from Adams the only declared candidate is Brad Lander, the current Comptroller.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 6, 2024 5:01 PM |
He blew when he gave his first covid safety speech as mayor in a flimsy paper mask, rather than an N95.
Then he got pissy and accusatory with a vocal, older woman at a public meeting, ascribing her tone to racism.
He broadcast that would be paid in Bitcoin, which was very unethical to do since it served as an endorsement that could increase his wealth.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 6, 2024 5:56 PM |
Pretty much everyone in Adams's inner circle is now being investigated by the feds. Embarrassing.

I think that this is the crux of the whole Adams administration. I think that many of Adams' cronies and most certainly Adams himself thought winning the mayor's office was going to be the opportunity of opportunities to enrich themselves. Well, surprise, SURPRISE! He's dealing with all the effects of previous administrations. That's Bloomberg (sky high rents), DeBlasio (never really dealing with the homeless/shelter problem), etc. Then on top of this COVID, Gregg Abbott with his hourly shipment on immigrants, etc, etc, etc...

R46- Andrew Cuomo?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 14, 2024 4:08 PM |
Oh no, R6, Andrew Cuomo is in his own way as corrupt as Adams, if not more so. Apart from the sex scandal, he is a paternalistic authoritarian who treated New York State as his own personal fiefdom.
Though ostensibly a Democrat, he enabled (and secretly funded) Republican candidates, propping them up so he could control the Republican party, which had little actual support, AND could control Democrats when he felt they were getting too progressive, by using the Repugs he had authority over to block the Dems. He had sharp elbows and made many, many enemies in the state so that when he stumbled, everyone was happy to watch him in free fall.
He’s an egomaniac and asshole who has more than a few things in common with his arch enemy Donald Trump.
NO TO CUOMO!

R48 when the Tappan Zee Bridge across the Hudson was rebuilt, in the middle of the night Andy slipped a new name into another bill ,so legislators wouldn't notice. We now have The Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, named for his former governor dad. There is a campaign to get it changed back to Tappan Zee.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | September 18, 2024 10:10 PM |
I wish there was a mechanism to remove him from office. As it stands, there's no recall option under the city charter and the only way aside from his term expiring or his resignation would be for the governor to remove him, and she clearly won't.
