by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 30, 2024 2:01 AM |
Well R13, Eric Roberts is a talented actor who has had a prolific and long-lasting career. In addition, Tori's daddy gave her a role in every single one of the soap operas he produced, so I guess that she is a former nepo-starlet? The rest are just Z-listers and reality TV abortions, as per usual.
By the way, I find the inclusion of that reptilian con woman Anna Delvey to be downright insane. Why is that freak considered a star? She is a convicted criminal, for God's sake! I've started a thread about her, by the way.

In a darkly imagined twist, "Dancing with the Stars" features a fictional appearance by Jeffrey Dahmer, the infamous serial killer, whose eerie presence on the ballroom floor sends shivers down the audience’s spines. His dance partner, visibly uncomfortable, tries to maintain composure as they perform a haunting, slow waltz to unsettling music. The judges, caught between the surreal spectacle and their roles, awkwardly critique his movements, their words dripping with tension. The crowd remains silent, unsure if they're witnessing a macabre joke or a nightmarish hallucination, as Dahmer’s unsettling charisma eerily overshadows the glitz and glamour of the show.

That's what they always say about their ringers. Sorry, but once you have been schooled in the elements of dance, things like posture, extension, line, rhythm, etc. are critical in any form of dance. So, to put her in a " competition" with non-dancers is a fraud.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | September 18, 2024 1:46 PM |

R77 yes and no. Someone who is trained in urban and hip hop dances understand the basics of dance but the posture etc. are nothing alike.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | September 18, 2024 4:07 PM |
I hate Phaedra's thunder thighs. I felt guilty till I googled her and found out she was famous for body-shaming her co-stars (or whatever you call them.) Talked about one of them sitting on Cap'n Crunch (meaning her vagina was dry) - Reddit link. She also called out another lady for cottage cheese cellulite.
So now I will happily be revolted at those massive tree trunks - I don't see how she has sex at all! Even walking around must be painful after a while, with them rubbing up against each other.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | September 18, 2024 10:37 PM |
And then Dwight Howard! Sued for sexual assault and "false imprisonment" by a former boyfriend! (while acknowledging 5 kids out of what's reported to be 8).
Then there Eric Roberts who claimed sister Julia owed her career success to him, prompting a years long estrangement. And the coma he was talking about causing his brain damage was in 1981! The real cause being severe drug/alcohol issues.
Maybe Anna Delvey is the most decent contestant this season - or at least not the worst.

I think Joey is the best of the men, but little Stephen gave his best performance tonight. I didn't mind that the first half a minute showed him on his pommel horse (or whatever you call it.) Brooks is soooo fake, and those injected lips. She needed a powerful sob story and all she had was her 3 cute sisters 'standing by her' during her difficult divorce.
The true worst of the bunch had his 5 children on the dancefloor hugging and him going on and on about how much he loves his 5 kids, never mind the 3 he won't acknowledge. Creep that I'm sure he is, he reads sweet daddy. I still can't get over a grown man suing him for 'false imprisonment', assault and battery, and 'intentional infliction of emotional distress' - what in the ever-lovin' hell happened? Tawdry and sordid, but he's grinnin' and lovin' those babies of his - well, most of them looked like teens/young adults and he's only 38.

Sorry, I watched “The Vice” instead. Snoop Dog instructed virginal teen contestants in a raunchy, three part harmony rendition of “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road”.

Diddy would be a judge on " The Vice."

Perhaps Phaedra had sufficient and wanted off the show.
by Anonymous | reply 155 | October 23, 2024 3:43 AM |
Thank god. I'm sick of looking at Phaedra's fat thighs and Val's butt ugly face.
I can't believe they gave the clunky football player 9's. But he's cute so I'll cope. I wish the adorable little gymnast had musicality but oh well.
My fear was the racist Trumpster audience wouldn't vote for the black girl who's clearly the best, and yep, they give her "immunity" for next week and they're introducing the "dance off" to save her from yokels refusing to vote for her.

Maybe they're not voting for her because she is a ringer and it's unfair to pit her against non-dancers:
[quote]Chandler has dance experience, as she started dancing when she was just 3 years old and has trained in tap, ballet, contemporary, jazz and hip hop.

That’s not a good assessment, a positive assessment, R158.

Carrie Ann just gave it all away. The Contemporary dances that don't really have any rules are scored by different criteria than the Ballroom dances that have actual rules.
It's really not fair to put them against each other, and personally, I don't think Contemporary should even be in this show.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | October 30, 2024 2:20 AM |
Stephen and Rylee got about as close to depicting a rape attack (ostensibly "fear of the dark") as allowed. It was a brilliant Contemporary, not the least for NOT being the usual mawkish tearfest.
I would challenge Derek and Bruno to point out any flaws.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | October 31, 2024 9:49 PM |
[quote]It's really not fair to put them against each other, and personally, I don't think Contemporary should even be in this show.
What's really not fair is to cast ringers - those with significant dance training- up against rank amateurs, under the excuse that the 10 yrs of formal dance training wasn't in ballroom.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | November 1, 2024 11:08 AM |
It's not fair to cast people in their 20s against people in their 70s, but that's what these shows do. And sometimes the people in their 70s last longer than younger people (like Reginald this season). It's a popularity contest, primarily.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | November 1, 2024 7:23 PM |
[quote]It's a popularity contest, primarily.
As we found out with Bobby Bones.
by Anonymous | reply 164 | November 1, 2024 9:33 PM |
What kind of drugs was Carrie Ann on this last week? She gave Danny Amendola a "10" for clomping around on the dance floor and Dwight Howard a "10" for tossing a woman around, but only gave Jenn Tran a "9" for a practically flawless traditional ballroom performance?
by Anonymous | reply 165 | November 5, 2024 1:00 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 168 | November 13, 2024 1:35 AM |
At times I don't know who the pro is and who the "star" is.
by Anonymous | reply 169 | November 13, 2024 2:40 AM |
It was time for Dwight to go. He wasn't a good dancer, but it really wasn't fair that they paired this giant with a woman barely over 5 feet tall. Even the best ballroom dancers would've had a difficult time trying to navigate through such a height difference.
They even had Dwight's partner on a platform for half of their dance, and he still towered over her.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | November 14, 2024 12:27 PM |
I think my sexy gymnast nerd Stephen had his best dance last night, and even incredible hulk IIona seemed lighter on her feet than she has all season.
But I think it's ultimately going to come down to the the Bachelor dude and Chandler Kinney. I think they're the best among all the contestants, although it's really not fair, since Chandler's had prior dance experience.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | November 14, 2024 12:31 PM |
I want to hate Joey because he seems like such a camera hogging try hard, but damn if he isn't sexy as hell and can actually dance.
by Anonymous | reply 173 | November 14, 2024 12:53 PM |
These "instant dance" challenges are really cruel and seem designed to get viewers to discard the less favored contestants. I mean, if you're not a professional dancer, how the hell are you gonna perfect a dance routine in 5 minutes?
What's next? Setting contestants on fire and having them get through their routine before the flames penetrate their outfits and starting burning their skin?
by Anonymous | reply 174 | November 14, 2024 2:10 PM |
The instant dance didn't bother me, because I'm the Disney/ABC ringer
by Anonymous | reply 175 | November 16, 2024 1:11 PM |

No eliminations. Five couples in Finals.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | November 20, 2024 4:35 AM |
A while back they gave Chandler immunity, for some cocked up reason.
I think it's obvious she's tanking with the viewer vote, so I think she would have gone home tonight... except the show can't let that happen because she's extremely better than anybody else.
You could say it's that the audience doesn't like that she has prior dance training - or you could say it has something to do with her and her partner Brandon's ethnicity. I'll leave that for others...
Anyway, all that "record breaking" voting - for nothin'
by Anonymous | reply 182 | November 20, 2024 4:42 AM |
[quote]or you could say it has something to do with her and her partner Brandon's ethnicity. I'll leave that for others...
Ah yes, the race card. It's played so often, it's a miracle it hasn't been mentioned before. DWTS is a popularity contest ( witness Bobby Bones) and she is an unknown. Add the facts that she has extensive dance training ( she's the ringer), and the voters being overwhelmingly female ( votes for Danny, Joey, and Steven). and one could see why she doesn;t have as many votes as expected. As for the " ethnicity" thing:
Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward, Donald Driver, Amber Riley, Alfonso Ribeiro, Rashad Jennings, Jordan Fisher, Iman Shumpert all won the contest.
by Anonymous | reply 183 | November 20, 2024 1:12 PM |
I've seen comments on FB and Twitter (I refuse to call it X) that they made the the 5 finalists call because Chandler was actually the one with the lowest votes. Could be, I suppose. I have read that the 2 Olympians have huge fan bases.
by Anonymous | reply 184 | November 20, 2024 3:15 PM |
I'm just glad the Incredible Hulkesse got through to the finals because her pro partner is so damn cute and I'll get to see him dance at least one more time.
by Anonymous | reply 185 | November 20, 2024 3:52 PM |
Stephen we all know isn't the best, but he's so darn earnest! And hard-working, the kind of novice the show started out as seeking.
I hope somehow he ends up 3rd, so he can say he won the DWTS Bronze medal, too!
I know one thing: Stephen is a star. Name without Googling another member of his Olympics team.
As a Penn Stater who went to every Men's Gymnastics home meet 1967-1971 (when Bob Emery competed, the great gymnast whose name is now on the sport's highest award for senior gymnasts, which Stephen won), I was shocked to learn that only about a dozen D1 NCAA programs still exist! So I hope Stephen gets tons more opportunities to promote his sport far and wide!

Derek and Mark are actually doing a routine in the next few minutes. An Argentine tango, no less.

Wasn't this great, girls?
by Anonymous | reply 202 | November 27, 2024 4:13 AM |
It was a good season. Surprised Chandler didn't win, but I think people are tired of the 'ringers' being brought in. Joey was my 2nd choice, so I'm not too surprised that he won.

GLEB. But he's not alone.
Why is Brooks shifting her skimpy dress around to show more of her boobs? (first minute). And I hate her plumped up lips yuck. She'd look so much better without that.
by Anonymous | reply 206 | November 27, 2024 5:35 AM |
Stephen should have been given the Bronze (3rd). Has ABC no sense of poetry?!
I bought a DWTS Tour ticket long ago for an afternoon show. Now I'm bummed I didn't buy for the evening also, as what's left are all VERY pricey "VIP" tickets.
by Anonymous | reply 207 | November 27, 2024 6:56 AM |
Clearly Chandler was the best dancer by a mile, but, yes, it was clear that this wasn't her first plie. Her gorgeous slow high developpe to fully straightened leg was not something that can be taught in 6 weeks. I'm not sure what the rules or expectations are for this show. I never watch a full season, but only drop in occasionally. If the goal is to show how much novices can accomplish in several weeks, that should be announced and people should be screened before selection.
by Anonymous | reply 208 | November 27, 2024 8:53 AM |
R208, That was the original goal, the show's raison d'etre.
Over the seasons the show hasn't been so picky.
The X = The Unknown part is the audience vote. And tonight, the ringer lost resoundingly.
by Anonymous | reply 209 | November 27, 2024 10:51 AM |
Loved Chandler’s face when they announced she was third! There was no improvement from week to week because she has dance experience. If she was competing against others with her background, it might have been a different story.
by Anonymous | reply 210 | November 27, 2024 1:11 PM |
I used to love Artem, but after his embarrassing expressions of love for Ricky Martin, I switched to Gleb. Too bad he wasn't featured much this season. Joey did make the most progress this season. Danny was adorable -- such a geeky athlete -- and what was going on when he approached Bruno, who was reaching out his hand. Are they making too much of Bruno's expressions of appreciation of (or lust toward) hunky male dancers?
by Anonymous | reply 211 | November 27, 2024 1:39 PM |
Unfortunately, Danny’s “I’m Just Ken” dance was awful. After seeing that, I was sure he lost.
by Anonymous | reply 212 | November 27, 2024 2:23 PM |
With another dancer, the "I'm Just Ken" dance might have worked. But Danny was so stiff and not spontaneous that he couldn't pull it off. Still, he has a great build.
by Anonymous | reply 213 | November 27, 2024 2:50 PM |
I was kinda hoping that Danny would get personalized briefs, like Trevor Donovan had, but maybe that's a touchy subject for DWTS after the Tyra fiasco.
by Anonymous | reply 214 | November 27, 2024 2:57 PM |
I was expecting more butt from Danny. Much like his dancing skills, it was a bit flat.

DWTS - No " S" needed.

ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars posted its best numbers in four years, with its Season 33 finale. Facing originals on NBC (including The Voice), Fox and The CW, Tuesday night’s DWTS finale avearged 6.4 million total viewers, the dance competition’s largest audience since the Season 29 finale on Nov. 23, 2020. And in the coveted-and-delicious 18-49 demo, DWTS scored a 1.14 rating, its best number since the Season 29 premiere on Sept. 14, 2020 — and marking the highest-rated regularly scheduled entertainment telecast in primetime since NBC’s This Is Us series finale (which posted a 1.28 rating on May 24, 2022).

I wasn't surprised Joey won, but I was really rooting for the Incredible Hulkesse. She really did improve throughout the season and became a very graceful dancer.
I LOVED the tango between Mark and Derek. Sexy as hell. And I'm sure it was no accident that Alfonso specifically asked Sean William Scott what he thought about it. Of course, Sean also said "sexy." I'm sure he got a boner watching it.

“Hot”more specifically.
by Anonymous | reply 222 | November 28, 2024 9:18 PM |
Maybe, r218, because the audience was rooting for the underdog Olympians, especially "Pommel Horse Guy" Stephen Nedoroscik, who became practically iconic during the Paris Games.
And maybe because Bachelor Nation (kudos to whoever coined the term) is densely populated with loyalists.

DWTS, the " Love Boat" for a new generation.
by Anonymous | reply 226 | December 1, 2024 3:19 PM |
R226 At least the Love Boat stars were actual performers who had success at one point in their careers.
DWTS has people like The Bachelor and YouTube and TikTok "stars." These aren't washed-up actors; they're "never was"es.

R226, One old person does not a "haven" make.

P.S. Not to put too fine a point on it, but the title of the show isn't "Dancing With Famous and Still Relevant Actors." And FYI, it never was.
DWTS, 33 Seasons, 428 Episodes. The Love Boat, 10 Seasons, 249 Episodes.
Give te people what they want.
R229, R226 said "washed-up." Meaning, no longer hired. Meaning money coming in. "Haven" meaning "Got a Pity Hire" meaning income. R226 Said nothing about "talent."
R227 said "had success." Now, that might mean "was rewarded for talent" or could mean "financial success." But in either case, r227 does not use the word "talent."
So WTF did YOU, DEAR?
If the main criterion is "had success in their careers," my post is certainly more relevant than your ignorant ad hominem one. (BTW, I know full well what words require capitalization and which do not. Sometimes I write for my own satisfaction.)

R240, You are quite the literalist! BRAVISSIMO!
Whoever said the show's name referred only to actors? You? It was never the intent of the show to present people from one walk of life or one career area. Athletes have always been included, along with Reality Show winners, Internet personalities, musicians, politicians, old, young, tall, tiny, White, Black, Asian, male, female,....
But do inform us of your definition of "Stars" in the oh-so-important arena of "Reality Television Competitions." You have clearly thought long and hard, and not in a good way, about this show's dedication or lack thereof to the O.E.D.
While you are at it, could you please take on the names of the shows "Survivor" (because, really?); "Top Chef" (sure, Jan); "The Voice" (the late Whitney would like a word); "Family Feud" (No Hatfields, No McCoys, WTH?). Or any other show. Even "60 Minutes" isn't always!
Another example of a person spending time on something he dislikes, thinking his sarcasm will win the day.
