On the I Love Lucy channel on Pluto-TV

by Anonymousreply 229August 11, 2024 12:13 AM

When I’m not watching 227

by Anonymousreply 1August 3, 2024 11:30 PM

You need help.

by Anonymousreply 2August 3, 2024 11:33 PM

Opeeeee, you gotta lotta ‘splainin’ to do

by Anonymousreply 3August 3, 2024 11:39 PM

Muriel’s little OP loves shortnin bread!

by Anonymousreply 4August 3, 2024 11:44 PM

I mean the world is scary old sitcoms are a great way to escape

by Anonymousreply 5August 3, 2024 11:45 PM

I don't watch ILL 24 hours but I always check in to see which episode is on.

by Anonymousreply 6August 3, 2024 11:52 PM

Watch the Murder, She Wrote channel.

by Anonymousreply 7August 3, 2024 11:57 PM

Let us know when you've had sufficient!

by Anonymousreply 8August 4, 2024 2:10 AM

Nobody from Albuquerque has ever had enough Lucy reruns!

by Anonymousreply 9August 4, 2024 2:11 AM

You don't sleep?

by Anonymousreply 10August 4, 2024 2:12 AM

All that sitting around -- you must have an ENORMOUS potamus!

by Anonymousreply 11August 4, 2024 2:13 AM

OP is Madame X

by Anonymousreply 12August 4, 2024 2:14 AM

Well if that’s the kind of show you want to watch OP you sure got a good one.

by Anonymousreply 13August 4, 2024 2:15 AM

I work from home and generally have either the I Love Lucy channel or the Murder She Wrote channel running all day, usually on mute but sometimes I actually engage. I’ve seen every episode numerous times (Lucy moreso by an order of magnitude). It’s just comfort food for me.

On the weekend I will usually tune into the Golden Girls on Hallmark or wherever it airs. I will still actually pay attention to that show for a couple hours even though I’ve seen every episode dozens of times (except maybe the Empty Nest tie-ins).

by Anonymousreply 14August 4, 2024 2:18 AM

I got a phone call from your neighbor, Mrs. DeVries, across the street. She knows you're a little peculiar, but she wanted to make sure nothing was wrong since all that was on your TV screen was a black and white program from 73 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 15August 4, 2024 2:20 AM

I think you need a break, OP. Take some time out. Maybe you can get tickets to "Over the Teacups."

by Anonymousreply 16August 4, 2024 2:34 AM

OP sounds like an addict, r16. If he could tear himself away I’m sure he’d be The Most Happy Fella.

by Anonymousreply 17August 4, 2024 2:57 AM

R17. I know I'm a happy fella when I eat some of Aunt Sally's Pecan Pralines...

by Anonymousreply 19August 4, 2024 3:09 AM

Can you did Aunt Sally's pralines in Aunt Martha's Old-Fashioned Salad Dressing?

by Anonymousreply 20August 4, 2024 3:13 AM

The episodes are all complete and they look good, unlike the episodes in syndication. But damn, hearing Ricky (Desi) sing, you realize he had nerve saying Lucy had no talent. The best episode was Flapper Follies of 1927 with the ancient showgirls ala Follies and that was totally Lucy's doing. People must have been desperate for entertainment if they like Babalu. They always cut it out of syndication and when you hear it, you understand why.

by Anonymousreply 21August 4, 2024 3:18 AM

Ethel was such a trooper at that candy factory, a real Chocolate Soldier.

by Anonymousreply 22August 4, 2024 3:20 AM

R22. She's " My Hero"

by Anonymousreply 23August 4, 2024 3:29 AM

At least Fred hasn’t kicked the screen in.

by Anonymousreply 24August 4, 2024 3:31 AM

Once one episode ends, OP always wants another HELP-ing.

by Anonymousreply 25August 4, 2024 3:31 AM

He’ll come ‘a bob bob bobbin along soon enough, r24…

by Anonymousreply 26August 4, 2024 3:33 AM

I hope you enjoy watching for another 75 years!

by Anonymousreply 27August 4, 2024 3:34 AM

I'm so happy it's summer. I get the blues when it rains...

by Anonymousreply 28August 4, 2024 3:40 AM

I'm so glad THE TIME HAS COME for you, OP!

by Anonymousreply 29August 4, 2024 5:30 AM

Have you seen the episode with known heterosexual Rock Hudson yet?

by Anonymousreply 30August 4, 2024 7:51 AM

PlutoTV is my shit. I watch 227 during my after-work nap. Watch Sandford and Son when I'm going to bed. Watch the Parkers or Broad City or Workaholics in the morning on days off before I get moving.

by Anonymousreply 33August 4, 2024 10:37 AM

No particular order: Lucy is Envious

Never Do Business with Friends

The Fashion Show

The Seance

Ethel’s Hometown

Hon. mention to Building a Bar-B-Q

by Anonymousreply 34August 4, 2024 12:41 PM

Pork chops, huh…

by Anonymousreply 35August 4, 2024 12:49 PM

I really liked it when the gang went to Scotland 🤗

by Anonymousreply 37August 4, 2024 1:03 PM

R36 that’s the most hated episode. The jump the shark moment for this show

by Anonymousreply 38August 4, 2024 1:30 PM

I thought it was really fun when they mixed it up by adding Ernie Ford for a few episodes!

by Anonymousreply 39August 4, 2024 2:08 PM

Don't forget the cameo by the inimitable Teensy and Weensy, r39!

by Anonymousreply 40August 4, 2024 2:11 PM

Let’s keep this thread jigglin’, Peggy!

by Anonymousreply 41August 4, 2024 3:04 PM

I love how this turned into an unofficial Let’s Be thread

by Anonymousreply 42August 4, 2024 3:22 PM

You bet your sweet life it has!!

by Anonymousreply 43August 4, 2024 3:26 PM

Ethels Hometown is perhaps the best because it's genuinely funny with a great musical section

Hollywood at Last

The Dancing Star

Lucy Buys a Paris Gown

Never do Business with Friends

by Anonymousreply 44August 4, 2024 4:46 PM

The Quiz Show

Don Juan is Shelved

by Anonymousreply 45August 4, 2024 4:52 PM

I can't watch that show. I was always frightened about how much trouble Lucy would be in when Ricky got home. It didn't help that my folks physically resembled them, except my dad didn't work at a club, he worked at IBM. I have PTSDILL.

by Anonymousreply 46August 4, 2024 5:06 PM

MARY r46!!!

by Anonymousreply 47August 4, 2024 5:13 PM

Lucy's Last Birthday was an episode I hated as a kid but I watched it on Pluto and was surprised at how moved I was at Lucy's vulnerability. It's a fine episode.

by Anonymousreply 48August 4, 2024 5:20 PM

I love seeing the Ricardos and Mertzes just doing normal everyday things like having a nice at-home dinner together, watch television, attend a Broadway show, have a sandwich at the soda fountain counter, play cards, and just act like normal socialized adults. It makes all the other shenanigans funnier because we see them when they're just doing mundane things as well. It's the balance that makes them so funny.

by Anonymousreply 49August 4, 2024 5:25 PM

Since I was a young boy I’ve felt like an honorary member of the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League

by Anonymousreply 50August 4, 2024 5:31 PM

by Anonymousreply 51August 4, 2024 5:44 PM

by Anonymousreply 52August 4, 2024 5:47 PM

Oh, but YES!

by Anonymousreply 53August 4, 2024 6:13 PM

I always wondered why Lucy always wore flats. On Pluto, I noticed that Desi is always wearing shoes with higher heels. She was wearing flats to even them out.

by Anonymousreply 54August 4, 2024 6:23 PM

Call for Phillip Morris!

by Anonymousreply 55August 4, 2024 7:02 PM

The Black Eye is another favorite episode.

by Anonymousreply 56August 4, 2024 7:13 PM

Has OP really not had sufficient?

by Anonymousreply 57August 4, 2024 7:18 PM

OP what you really should know is that the Pluto channel is watching you.

by Anonymousreply 58August 4, 2024 7:20 PM

The trip to Florida with Elsa Lancaster was hilarious. When they changed the tire, they got the car up and Ethel said "Hey Lucy, look, it's not flat anymore."

by Anonymousreply 59August 4, 2024 8:07 PM

Another great thing about Pluto is they have a lot of newscast from different cities.

by Anonymousreply 60August 4, 2024 8:09 PM

by Anonymousreply 72August 4, 2024 11:19 PM

You know that Fred's got himself trained to do anything in less than a minute?

by Anonymousreply 73August 4, 2024 11:36 PM

What should I have for breakfast, flapcakes or hotjacks?

by Anonymousreply 74August 4, 2024 11:42 PM

When Ethel joined Lucy on the camping trip (driving, no less, something the writers forgot when Lucy tried to teach her to drive), she told Fred she was going to visit her mother. So Fred was in charge of taking care of Little Ricky. Of course, he had Mrs. Trumbull's old snatch to lick so it was a vacation for him as well.

by Anonymousreply 75August 4, 2024 11:45 PM

lol r75 love it

by Anonymousreply 76August 4, 2024 11:48 PM

by Anonymousreply 81August 4, 2024 11:55 PM

So I turned to give him a dirty look …and no one was driving.

by Anonymousreply 82August 4, 2024 11:56 PM

I wish we could have seen Sylvia Collins. But that episode was pretty interesting because Eddie really thought he was making a date with Lucy and Ricky thought Lucy was meeting Eddie for the date.

by Anonymousreply 91August 5, 2024 3:23 AM

When I was a kid I liked the Hollywood episodes the most, and it seems I still do.

by Anonymousreply 92August 5, 2024 3:25 AM

Ricky: You have to budget your time. 10 minutes for this, 15 minutes for that.....

Lucy: Oh, I'm gonna need more than 15 minutes for that.

by Anonymousreply 96August 5, 2024 3:40 AM

How come we never got to see the Robert Taylor orange (or its source)?

by Anonymousreply 97August 5, 2024 3:43 AM

R97, we did see it a few times. The last time was after it was totally moldy and Lucy notes that it says Robert Taylor in a deep crevice. We didn't see the moment where she had it signed but we did see the Richard Widmark grapefruit being signed.

by Anonymousreply 98August 5, 2024 3:47 AM

Has the circumcision episode played yet, OP?

by Anonymousreply 99August 5, 2024 3:57 AM

The ballet with Mary Wickes features one of the best visual gags on the show. Lucy starts doing ballet drills and it evolves into her doing the Charleston.

by Anonymousreply 100August 5, 2024 4:17 AM

What do you do, eat ‘em?

by Anonymousreply 101August 5, 2024 4:26 AM

by Anonymousreply 102August 5, 2024 4:32 AM

Dear Teller, be a lamb and don’t put this through til next month.

by Anonymousreply 103August 5, 2024 4:33 AM

Lucy’s not on anymore here, so I haven’t seen it quite a long time. Reading this thread has me missing it, however, so perhaps I’ll seek it out online.

by Anonymousreply 104August 5, 2024 4:43 AM

by Anonymousreply 131August 6, 2024 3:53 PM

We should all pool our funds to buy OP a Don Loper Original from the Don Loper Salon so he can look like Lucy Ricardo, wife of the movie star, Ricky Ricardo.

by Anonymousreply 132August 6, 2024 4:42 PM

And since it's DL, we can make more fun of Mrs. Richard Carlson aka Mrs. BowWow.

by Anonymousreply 133August 6, 2024 4:56 PM

That's The Lovely Mrs. Richard Carlson to YOU.

by Anonymousreply 134August 6, 2024 7:36 PM

R134, it was cool that Loper said something nice about all the wives, "the very pretty", "the very glamorous", "the very lovely".

So we also come to a question when it comes to the Fashion Show. Loper says that Mrs. Alan Ladd was going to wear Loper's Basic Dress to the fashion show. We never see her or the dress. Was she one of the ones who was drunk backstage? When Lucy goes on the Hollywood Bus tour, they go past Alan Ladd's house and Lucy says "it would be nice if we could see Sue Carroll walking around."

by Anonymousreply 135August 6, 2024 8:04 PM

R135. And yet you ignore me who actually showed up to that affair.

by Anonymousreply 136August 6, 2024 9:23 PM

R136, I tried to ignore you because you had to steal Lucy's Stone Martens for your appearance. Luckily, Lucy stole them back in time for her appearance in the fashion show.

by Anonymousreply 137August 6, 2024 9:54 PM

I can’t watch it right now. Along with the Dick Van Dyke Show and Andy Griffith Show. I can quote every line, so I need a break. Leave It To Beaver is getting a break too.

by Anonymousreply 139August 6, 2024 10:34 PM

by Anonymousreply 151August 7, 2024 5:23 AM

I knew we should’ve called it “Two Bundles for Britain”!

by Anonymousreply 152August 7, 2024 7:08 AM

One of my favorites is Lucy getting the part of the showgirl with the huge headdress (The only thing is, it’s hard to believe a director would call an actress or bit player “Mrs. Ricardo” even if her husband was “MGMs new star” Ricky Ricardo).

Btw the aftermath of Ricky starring in a Hollywood movie and becoming famous, knowing all those stars, being on a first name basis with them, then just returning to relative obscurity is never really explained. Nobody ever says he flopped, yet he didn’t succeed.

by Anonymousreply 160August 7, 2024 5:05 PM

No one bought it but when the Mertzes moved to Connecticut, Ethel said one of her relatives wanted to move in and manage the building.

by Anonymousreply 161August 7, 2024 5:26 PM

Ricky's "Don Juan" was "shelved" by MGM, and nothing else was ever revealed as to why.

Ricky being any more famous than he was before Hollywood would have thrown everything off. I think it worked out perfectly.

by Anonymousreply 162August 7, 2024 7:24 PM

R162 Right, and none of that made any sense.

by Anonymousreply 171August 7, 2024 11:53 PM

I’m so juicy

by Anonymousreply 172August 7, 2024 11:55 PM

R171, I thought the reason was because Americans are so stupid that they believed Don Juan was a real movie so they nixed that and put him into another movie that was unnamed. No confusion for the stupid.

by Anonymousreply 173August 7, 2024 11:56 PM

Ricky was not very talented

I hate ALL of his shitty musical numbers and his fake laugh is cringe

by Anonymousreply 174August 7, 2024 11:58 PM

No matter the reason, it was a swell way to get off to a lousy start in Hollywood. Thankfully everything worked out ok.

by Anonymousreply 175August 7, 2024 11:58 PM

R173 Yeah that must have been it. :/

by Anonymousreply 176August 7, 2024 11:58 PM

Ricky liked to fuck old Fred in the asshole

by Anonymousreply 177August 8, 2024 12:01 AM

R177 Pops out at parties AND is unpoopular!

by Anonymousreply 178August 8, 2024 12:24 AM

R177. I beg your pardon?!

by Anonymousreply 179August 8, 2024 12:28 AM

Why hasn't Hollywood done an ILL reboot? They seem to have redone every other show. Why not this? And Deb Messing could be Lucy.

by Anonymousreply 180August 8, 2024 5:29 AM

Die in a grease fire.

by Anonymousreply 181August 8, 2024 5:30 AM

The part of Lucy would probably go to Wanda Sykes. “Ricki” would be played by Billy Porter. Guest starring Sara Gilbert as Ethel with Ezra Miller rounding out the cast as Phred.

by Anonymousreply 182August 8, 2024 5:34 AM

"They" Love Lucy

by Anonymousreply 183August 8, 2024 5:42 AM

Starring Lens Dunham as Fred Mertz.

by Anonymousreply 184August 8, 2024 5:45 AM

Obviously it's got to be Lucie and Desi Jr as their parents. Yeah a little incestuous but can't have everything. Vicki Lawrence as Mrs. Trumbull, Madonna as Mrs. McGillicuddy.

by Anonymousreply 185August 8, 2024 5:52 AM

With Jasmin Savoy Brown and Quinta Brunson as Charli and Carolyn Appleby.

by Anonymousreply 186August 8, 2024 5:52 AM

Ally Sheedy and Judd Nelson as Fred and Ethel.

by Anonymousreply 187August 8, 2024 5:54 AM

Jennifer Simard as Marion Strong. I’ve heard her laugh, she’s got the hen cackle!

by Anonymousreply 188August 8, 2024 5:58 AM

Who?

by Anonymousreply 189August 8, 2024 6:43 AM

[quote]Why hasn't Hollywood done an ILL reboot?

We've suffered enough already.

by Anonymousreply 190August 8, 2024 9:02 AM

[quote]And Deb Messing could be Lucy.

Why do people keep saying this? Messing is nothing like Lucille Ball. She’s not even funny.

by Anonymousreply 191August 8, 2024 12:31 PM

R191 I agree, I don't want to see Debra Messing play Lucille Ball. I don't even care for Messing. But as for the reason people keep saying it:

You wouldn’t be the first person to tell Debra Messing that she looks like Lucille Ball. You also wouldn’t be the most important person to mention it — that honor belongs to Ball’s daughter, Lucie Arnaz.

Last year, the cast of “Will & Grace” filmed a very special “I Love Lucy” tribute episode, which aired on Thursday night. Messing recalled, on the “Variety After-Show,” the moment when Arnaz came into the dressing room to see her full transformation for the first time.

“I was in the green dress. We were about to shoot the song and dance [number] and she walked in and she just looked at me and didn’t say anything.” Messing told Variety. “Then she hugged me and she said, ‘This feels really good. It’s been a long time since I’ve hugged you,’ and everyone started to cry.”

“And then she smiled and she said, ‘I know how long you’ve been wanting to do this, Debra. And I’m so glad we were able to make it happen.’” And then I had to go [to the stage],” she continued. “As I walked away, she said, ‘Break a leg, Mom.’ Everybody just flipped out and cried. It was really moving.”

Starring Taylor Swift as Lucy

Jelly Roll as Ricky Ricardo

Lizzo as Ethel Mertz

Danny Devito as Fred Mertz

by Anonymousreply 193August 8, 2024 1:51 PM

Messing looks like a drag queen version of Lucy. Lucy had delicate features and was quite beautiful. Messing does not have similar features.

Cocoa Peru *is* Lucille Ball.

by Anonymousreply 195August 8, 2024 3:17 PM

I posted the reboot comment just to stir shit up. They shouldn't do an ILL reboot, I'm just surprised it hasn't happened yet since they've redone everything else.

by Anonymousreply 196August 8, 2024 3:20 PM

Ahem r196!!

by Anonymousreply 197August 8, 2024 3:32 PM

ILL is so iconic that any remake would come under heavy scrutiny. Plus they would have to get Lucie and Desi Jr on board with it.

Additionally, there’s nobody that can do that type of acting. Screwball comedy is not taught in acting schools, so it would take a special type of actress to pull it off.

by Anonymousreply 198August 8, 2024 3:58 PM

[quote]Obviously it's got to be Lucie and Desi Jr as their parents.

They're in their 70s.

by Anonymousreply 199August 8, 2024 8:29 PM

Let me tell you about Deb Messing.

by Anonymousreply 200August 8, 2024 8:33 PM

I also brought up Miss Messing because she's a DL catnip trigger.

by Anonymousreply 201August 8, 2024 8:42 PM

Not for me r201

by Anonymousreply 202August 8, 2024 10:34 PM

Dumpy Debra would have to spend a long time in the steam cabinet before she could fit into the Sally Sweet dress.

by Anonymousreply 203August 8, 2024 11:08 PM

OH FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE ALFRED GO EAT YOUR LUNCH!

by Anonymousreply 204August 9, 2024 12:34 AM

After hearing about JD Vance, Lucy never pretended to be a chair again. (Ewwww--cue "The Spider")

by Anonymousreply 205August 9, 2024 12:37 AM

and now it's a Trump thread. Kudos Mr Mooney, Kudos.

by Anonymousreply 206August 9, 2024 12:39 AM

Don't you have a Friends of the Friendless march to go to, R206?

by Anonymousreply 207August 9, 2024 12:55 AM

Speed it up!

by Anonymousreply 208August 9, 2024 1:00 AM

1950s housewives sure loved a good spanking.

by Anonymousreply 209August 9, 2024 1:50 AM

Bitch never had a fully stocked refrigerator...

by Anonymousreply 210August 9, 2024 2:35 AM

She kept two sides of beef in the freezer. What are you even talking about?

by Anonymousreply 211August 9, 2024 2:50 AM

R211. Those snively little morsals? They didn't even make a good mouthful!

by Anonymousreply 212August 9, 2024 3:51 AM

R199 That's okay because this is just a forum and the casting is not actually going to happen, it's only a game. Thanks.

by Anonymousreply 213August 9, 2024 5:14 AM

Another problem is an age old one. Beautiful women can't play funny.

by Anonymousreply 214August 9, 2024 5:52 PM

I always thought she said "speed it up Eleanor " suggesting a women's run chocolate factory BUT no, she is saying " speed it up a little"

by Anonymousreply 215August 9, 2024 6:41 PM

The actress who said it was named Eleanor.

by Anonymousreply 216August 9, 2024 6:58 PM

R216. I think it was Elvia Allman.

by Anonymousreply 217August 9, 2024 7:02 PM

Oops! You're right. Miss Audley played Mrs. Spaulding in the first Connecticut episode. And a flower judge, too.

Next I'll start confusing Doris Packer and Madge Blake.

by Anonymousreply 218August 9, 2024 7:14 PM

R218. No "Oops" needed! It happens! I sometimes confuse Lucy Ricardo with Isabella Klump!

by Anonymousreply 219August 9, 2024 7:19 PM

I love juicy

by Anonymousreply 220August 9, 2024 9:23 PM

[quote]Next I'll start confusing Doris Packer and Madge Blake.

Happens all the time at the ESPN and Joe Rogan forums. Don't feel bad!

by Anonymousreply 221August 10, 2024 12:16 AM

You’d be in good company, r218. I mix up Martha Raye and Madge all the time.

by Anonymousreply 222August 10, 2024 2:27 AM

I mix up Shirley Booth and Ava Gardner.

by Anonymousreply 223August 10, 2024 2:55 AM

Tel you what I’m gonna do!

by Anonymousreply 224August 10, 2024 2:27 PM

you should watch my asshole pucker

by Anonymousreply 225August 10, 2024 5:01 PM

Munsters this afternoon

by Anonymousreply 226August 10, 2024 7:54 PM

You get your wet feet off of my mink stole, you big walrus!

by Anonymousreply 227August 10, 2024 9:39 PM

R227, Grace, go back to fucking the Milkman who was actually Bobby the bellboy at the Beverly Palms. It was a Lynx stole.

by Anonymousreply 228August 11, 2024 12:07 AM

I want the key to the trunk, unless you need it to play a tune!
