Why did Ralph Macchio age so strangely?

He looked 20 something for 30 years!

I can answer this- it’s loss of facial collagen, and that he started with a very high amount when young. I too had a very cherubic, androgynous look when young because of all that lovely youthful “baby fat”.

As you age, it dissipates- and can be accelerated through drug use, extreme weight loss, and alcohol use that can dehydrate skin. Removing wisdom teeth and extensive dental work becomes more prominent because most people lose the collagen in the bottom part of the face and neck first with weight loss.

Accumulating sun damage also deflates or distorts this subcutaneous tissue even if you take good care of your skin.

If I could do anything differently in my youth, I would’ve stayed out of the sun and kept the weight off.

You should have linked a picture, OP. From what I can see, he looks absolutely phenomenal for 60+!

If there is a man somewhere who would complain about looking like this at age 62, please avoid him because he is obviously insane.

Agree he looks phenomenal. Known to be a really good guy, too.

FWIW, I met him a couple of times as part of my job. Super nice and down to the Earth.

Yesterday I posted a scene from the movie Naked In New York when he starts kissing Eric Stoltz. He was at least 30 years old in that movie but he looks about 18 or 19 years old. The movie was released in 1993.

His hair looks phenomenal compared to the past.

I think he's cuter now then when he was young.

Oh, and he was taller than I would have guessed. About average height for a man, but he always seemed short on the screen.

I have no idea why he'd look like a different person.
