by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 2, 2024 11:27 PM |
Harry is still a royal by blood, and Meghan is a royal by marriage that's a fact love it or hate it. It's like the Duke of Windsor who despite being [unofficially] exiled after abdicating was still a royal.
That being said, they are no longer working royals, they don't represent the monarchy, the UK or the Commonwealth. They are like Princess Beatrice or Eugenie, royals by birth but not part of the day-to-day workings of the monarchy and effectively are private citizens. Eugenie and Beatrice have chosen to occasionally use their royal connection to promote charitable causes, but for the most part they have jobs and lead very low key lives.
Harry and Meghan represent no one but themselves. These are not "royal tours" they are publicity tours designed to get headlines to keep them relevant. There is no genuine charitable component to it, it's just "look at us" (particularly Meghan in her ill-fitting, wrinkled clothes). Really the only reason the media keeps following them is because "click-bait" and Meghan's status as the first woman of color to marry into the family. If Meghan had been white, honestly, the media would've moved on by now. The whole race thing sells, particularly in the US. And Meghan knows this. Let's not forget she spent her whole acting career stating she was Caucasian and her skin tone was the result of being 43% Maltese (people from Malta, not the dog).
These two are just very self-important, egotist who think they shit gold pellets scented with lavender and wouldn't know an original idea if it slapped them across the face. They are, however, occasionally great comic relief. I'm mean their level of delusion in beyond next level. The fact that they are "scared" to go to the UK and yet go to arguably the most dangerous places on Earth without a second thought and think people are stupid enough not to see the ridiculousness of it. Or how they sue the press over "invading their privacy" and yet spill tea about their families constantly. It is hysterical.
They're going to Colombia because the government there wants some good publicity. Meghan and Harry are going because the Colombian government is paying for them and they will get headlines. Basically there are "hire a royal" now (or as is trending on social media they are Temu-royals LOL).

Hey, whatever works.
And Harry is still doing what he WOULD HAVE been doing, had he been a working royal. So it's just the same as an official visit.
Keep in mind, he's the only one in that family who is traveling abroad right now, and engaging with foreign governments.
I don't think that either Charles or William have even left the UK this year.
So Harry is seizing upon the perfect opportunity.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | August 3, 2024 3:47 AM |
It is not an official visit because it has no approval by the British government. It’s no more an official visit than if Barack Obama vacations is Spain. Are you American?
by Anonymous | reply 64 | August 3, 2024 3:51 AM |
The difference, R60, is that when he abdicated, the new Duke of Windsor was styled as His Royal Highness, although his wife was denied this style - both at the direction of the then monarch, King George VI.
While Royal by birth, Harry was requested by his late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II to not use his HRH style, so he’s just The Duke of Sussex. As his wife, Meghan - the great feminist - takes her title from her husband, which is why she is titled The Duchess of Sussex.
She chooses to call herself “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex”, which she would only be called as the widow or former wife of the Duke of Sussex. If she had a shred of credibility she’d call herself Meghan Mountbatten-Windsor (a bit of a mouthful, so to speak) or Meghan Markle (pretty trashy and a reminder of the father who she has disowned). But Meghan and credibility are strangers.
So now they whore themselves as former royals to regimes such as those of Nigeria and now Colombia. As Princess Michael of Kent once said: “We’ll go anywhere for a hot meal”.

R60. The Markles are nothing like Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, who are loyal to the crown. Beatrice and Eugenie may not be working royals, but they are dependable supporters and haven't had an ounce of scandal between the two of them. their entire lives. Beatrice and Eugenie haven't stepped back or stepped down from anything and are always available to step in when needed.
The Markles are lying, complaining grifters. Beatrice and Eugenie are nothing of the sort. They are lovely girls who lead exemplary lives. Beatrice and Eugenie are still HRH. The Markles are unavailable, unwanted and not even in the royal fold any longer.

[quote] Former Courtier Claims Prince Harry & Meghan's Colombia Tour Shows 'Why Royals Want Them Kept Away'
Royal tensions have flared over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's upcoming trip to Colombia. The couple will be heading to the South American country later this month, a trip many are dubbing a quasi-royal tour.
The news has reportedly not been well-received by Buckingham Palace and royal commentators, particularly given the couple's decision to step down as senior royals in 2020.
This reaction follows recent concerns raised by Prince Harry about his reduced security detail during UK visits and his claim that his father, King Charles III, could intervene in the situation.
Later this month, Harry and Meghan will touch down in Colombia after accepting an invitation from the Vice President of the South American country.
Although the announcement about the trip was only recently made, the Daily Beast reported that it has already raised eyebrows among senior royals.
According to a former courtier, who chose to remain anonymous, the couple's choice to go on the trip despite no longer being senior royals "shows the utter contempt they have for the king."
They also claimed that the tour goes against "very long-established ways of doing things," adding that past royal tours have served Britain's interests and that the couple's trip does not align with this precedent.
The former courtier added. "This tour may well have the noblest intentions, but it is clearly not being carried out on behalf of Britain, and yet they still basically portray themselves as British royals. It shows you exactly why the royals want these two kept as far away as possible."
For many, it is also shocking that Harry and Meghan will visit the country despite travel advisories from both the US and UK governments.
According to reports, the US, where the couple currently resides after leaving the UK, has placed Colombia at a Level 3 security risk.
They also warned that "terrorist groups and criminal organizations continue operating and carrying out attacks" in the country and demonstrations "can occur regularly" with the possibility of violence and fatalities.
Still, it is understood that Harry and Meghan will receive full security protection during their stay to prevent any incident. As part of their itinerary, they will engage with "leaders, youth, and women" of Colombia while visiting places like Bogota, Cartagena, and Cali.
The duo will also take part in activities related to "cyberbullying, online exploitation and the mental health impacts of these threats," which their foundation, The Archewell Foundation, is committed to.
