Pete Davidson Checks into Wellness Facility

Pete Davidson has checked into a wellness facility for his mental health, PEOPLE has learned.

On Wednesday, July 31, PEOPLE confirmed that the Saturday Night Live alum, 30, is taking some time to focus on his health. The move comes after a string of more than 200 live stand-up comedy shows across the nation, as well as several film projects and the release of his second Netflix comedy special, Turbo Fonzarelli, in January.

A source tells PEOPLE that mental health has "always been a priority" for the comedian, who has been open about his sobriety journey on tour as well as his history dealing with borderline personality disorder and severe post-traumatic stress disorder.

While staying busy with work this year, the source says Davidson has been focusing on his sobriety and his friends and family are very proud that he has chosen to continue to take care of himself.

Davidson most recently underwent treatment in the summer of 2023 to address issues related to PTSD and borderline personality disorder.

At the time, a source told PEOPLE, "Pete will often check himself into rehab to work on these issues. His friends and family have been supportive during this time."

In an interview with Variety in August 2018, Davidson said he’d “been in and out of mental health facilities” since he was 9 years old, but he said at the time of the interview that new medication had stabilized him after several turbulent years.

“The last few years have been real rough with me,” he said. “I took all these mental health classes and really spent a lot of time getting me good.”

Not sure I understand why the facility is needed, as opposed to weekly therapy and medication if it’s truly mental health. Is he out of control or fearing self harm? Or is this just another drug rehab.

by Anonymousreply 1August 1, 2024 3:09 AM

And yet _____ still walks among us...

by Anonymousreply 2August 1, 2024 3:13 AM

He’s so exhausting.

And he has no talent.

by Anonymousreply 3August 1, 2024 3:21 AM

He's very cute in that doofus sort of way.

by Anonymousreply 4August 1, 2024 3:23 AM

When did he decide to be black?

by Anonymousreply 5August 1, 2024 3:27 AM

He’s going to have a tragic end.

by Anonymousreply 6August 1, 2024 3:28 AM

He and Mulaney are both VERY troubled. You can kinda understand how Pete got so messed up, but his buddy Mulaney is a mystery.

by Anonymousreply 7August 1, 2024 3:33 AM

[quote] He’s going to have a tragic end.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Depression only gets worse as you get older, and Pete is only 31.

by Anonymousreply 8August 1, 2024 3:35 AM

Who will play him in the biopic when he inevitably OD's?

by Anonymousreply 9August 1, 2024 3:35 AM

What does OD possess?

by Anonymousreply 10August 1, 2024 3:36 AM

You thought this would be of interest to us, OP?

by Anonymousreply 11August 1, 2024 3:38 AM

He's the patron saint of Millennials, though they're 10 years older than him. The perpetual goofy teen with mysterious sources of money and a hot babe on his arm. And tattoos, cuz like he's like a rebel.

by Anonymousreply 12August 1, 2024 3:41 AM

I will comfort his giant penis.

by Anonymousreply 13August 1, 2024 3:45 AM

Seems that I read every year that he goes into clinics.

by Anonymousreply 14August 1, 2024 3:45 AM

R11 Now thats a snappy reply you could use over and over again here. Next time just post SO WHAT WHO CARES?

by Anonymousreply 15August 1, 2024 3:46 AM

probably detox and then rehab for co-occurring disorders (fka dual diagnosis).

by Anonymousreply 16August 1, 2024 4:07 AM

I wish him success.

by Anonymousreply 17August 1, 2024 4:16 AM

Suboxone seems to work if people give it a chance.

He has Crohn’s and opiates can’t nice with a lazy colon.

by Anonymousreply 18August 1, 2024 4:18 AM

Sad last days

by Anonymousreply 19August 1, 2024 4:22 AM

I think that Pete's reps use the terms "wellness facility" and "rehab" interchangeably.

Especially since his mental issues seem to stem from a combination of mental illness + drugs.

by Anonymousreply 20August 1, 2024 5:22 AM

Mental illness sucks, I wish him well.

by Anonymousreply 21August 1, 2024 5:26 AM

r18 "opiates can’t nice"

True

by Anonymousreply 22August 1, 2024 9:58 AM

Say what you want, but Pete will always have my sympathy. No kid should have to go through what he went through 😢

R23 Which was?

by Anonymousreply 24August 1, 2024 10:55 AM

I like him

by Anonymousreply 25August 1, 2024 10:57 AM

He has borderline personality disorder. Sometimes I think I have it.

by Anonymousreply 26August 1, 2024 10:58 AM

@r24, "—Yes, I have Google, but you’re the one who brought it up"

You've also lived under a rock for the past 20+ years

by Anonymousreply 27August 1, 2024 11:05 AM

I did some Googling and found that his PTSD comes from the day his father had told him he would pick him up on a specific day. That day was 9/11/2001, but he never came because his did (a firefighter) had died in the attack.

I've always found him rather homely. But, I have to say, he's cute as a button in that OP photo.

by Anonymousreply 28August 1, 2024 11:06 AM

For him to be the lead in a movie titled “Meet Cute”, he still looks like they’ve never met.

by Anonymousreply 29August 1, 2024 11:35 AM

R8, depression often lifts with age. One of the few cool things about hagdom.

by Anonymousreply 30August 1, 2024 11:40 AM

legal ketamine.

by Anonymousreply 31August 1, 2024 11:42 AM

He won't make it to 40.

by Anonymousreply 32August 1, 2024 11:48 AM

Good thread, OP. I didn’t realize Pete was struggling again, but he seems proactive about his mental health, and I wish him the best.

R11 is blocked. They might be the wittiest commenter otherwise, but I’ll never know, because that “what does X possess?” shtick grates.

by Anonymousreply 33August 1, 2024 12:05 PM

[quote] He has borderline personality disorder. Sometimes I think I have it.

Stay far, far away from normal human beings. They deserve better.

by Anonymousreply 34August 1, 2024 12:06 PM

Oooh, I wanna go to a Wellness Clinic. I like wellness. Big fan.

by Anonymousreply 35August 1, 2024 12:15 PM

[quote] depression often lifts with age

But mental illness stays with you for life.

by Anonymousreply 36August 1, 2024 12:55 PM

He was kinda cute and funny when he first showed up on SNL, but he seems so messed up and troubled on the inside. Fame can fuck up a grounded person... with his psych issues he would have been much better off living a more structured life.

by Anonymousreply 37August 1, 2024 12:58 PM

How's the dick doing? Hope it still works after all this wellness.

by Anonymousreply 38August 1, 2024 1:40 PM

R33 who the fuck are you? No one cares who you block.

by Anonymousreply 39August 1, 2024 1:49 PM

Verificatia of sizemeat?

by Anonymousreply 40August 1, 2024 1:49 PM

Oy sometimes an 10in schlong is not enough.

"Wellness facility."

by Anonymousreply 42August 1, 2024 3:41 PM

The biggest surprise of my adulthood has been my constant struggle against the disruptions caused by my depression and anxiety.

I've been sober over thirty years and I can't imagine still being in the fame at all were I still trying to medicate myself with drugs and alcohol. It's just a long slog on some days.

by Anonymousreply 43August 1, 2024 3:51 PM

What is Pete doing in this video?

by Anonymousreply 44August 1, 2024 3:53 PM

This is a good pivot for “rehab”…call themselves “wellness facilities.”

by Anonymousreply 45August 1, 2024 3:55 PM

Hoping Pete Davidson follows Amy Winehouse to the grave.

by Anonymousreply 46August 1, 2024 4:11 PM

^ Honey, we're ALL going to follow Amy Winehouse to the grave. Pretty tough to beat her there. Not only are you smart you seem so nice too 🙄

by Anonymousreply 47August 1, 2024 4:18 PM

Wishing him well. I always have a soft spot for him. And sometimes a hard-on knowing he has a huge dick.

by Anonymousreply 48August 1, 2024 4:19 PM

I wish him well. Perhaps they can make him funny.

by Anonymousreply 49August 1, 2024 4:19 PM

We’re all pulling for that huge dick and you, Pete! Hold on!

by Anonymousreply 50August 1, 2024 4:26 PM

[quote]You can kinda understand how Pete got so messed up, but his buddy Mulaney is a mystery.

Comics often have substance abuse problems. They're under so much pressure and spend so much time on the road.

by Anonymousreply 51August 1, 2024 4:30 PM

Name a comic who doesn't have mental health issues.

by Anonymousreply 52August 1, 2024 5:02 PM

Bob Newhart. Well, he didn't...

by Anonymousreply 53August 1, 2024 5:26 PM

[quote] I think that Pete's reps use the terms "wellness facility" and "rehab" interchangeably.

As if he were going on a goop intensive.

by Anonymousreply 54August 1, 2024 5:43 PM

He's getting Suboxone - right?

by Anonymousreply 55August 1, 2024 5:49 PM

Thank R44 ! First vid I've seen where you can see it moving.

by Anonymousreply 56August 1, 2024 6:01 PM

OP’s photo of Pete is one of the better ones I’ve seen of him.

by Anonymousreply 57August 1, 2024 8:51 PM

Who gives a shit -ugly face ugly dick

by Anonymousreply 58August 1, 2024 9:00 PM

Nice, R44.

That bulge looks decent.

by Anonymousreply 59August 1, 2024 9:08 PM

I hope he's OK. There is something appealing about him.

by Anonymousreply 60August 1, 2024 9:38 PM

I would like to slap him into the next century. Every word out of his stupid mouth infuriates me. I just saw a low budget thriller movie he was in where he plays a rich asshole and he was so terrible I kept hoping that he’d drown.

Why must he still be out there irritating humanity?

by Anonymousreply 61August 1, 2024 10:37 PM

He seems very sweet

by Anonymousreply 62August 1, 2024 10:43 PM

R61 Same reason you are

by Anonymousreply 63August 1, 2024 10:43 PM

I have a soft spot for him, and wish him well.

I have BPD and C-PTSD, too, along with depression and anxiety. It’s exhausting and takes constant vigilance and work. If only everyone had the means to check into a “wellness facility” when things start spiralling! :/

(Unlike Pete, I don’t do relationships because I know myself too well and don’t wish to inflict that on anyone…ha!)

by Anonymousreply 64August 1, 2024 10:55 PM

I’d suck him off

by Anonymousreply 65August 1, 2024 11:04 PM

Totally normal.

I like his Bupkis show. Too bad only 1 season.

by Anonymousreply 67August 2, 2024 6:24 AM

Is a "wellness facility" what we used to call a loony bin?

by Anonymousreply 68August 2, 2024 8:50 AM

For wellness, I go to a bar.

by Anonymousreply 69August 2, 2024 8:57 AM

No lazy colon with Crohn’s, which causes severe diarrhea.

Regarding Bob Newhart. I was listening to a tribute to him that said he had a terrible relationship with his father. His father had no interest in Bob at all. He didn’t spend time with him, he never praised him or showed any affection. When 30 something year old Bob met his wife he could not drive.

He didn’t have addiction issues or obvious mental health issues but he was very messed up and his wife did all of the lifting to make him an engaged father and a social being.

So, he isn’t the exception, he’s another comic with a messed up childhood.

by Anonymousreply 71August 2, 2024 11:09 AM

Regarding Bob Newhart Pete Davidson's father. Who knew.

by Anonymousreply 72August 2, 2024 2:26 PM

What is this? His thirteenth-million trip to Rehab? Very , very sad.
