This should be interesting…
Trump to address black Journalists.
by Anonymous | reply 553 | August 6, 2024 1:28 AM |
Shame on you
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 31, 2024 4:06 PM |
They're counting Harris Faulkner as a "journalist," so he'll have at least one bloviating sphincter in his corner.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 31, 2024 4:07 PM |
Don’t get me started on that hideous hypocrite Harris Faulkner-the Candace Owen of fox tv.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 31, 2024 4:13 PM |
Link?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 31, 2024 4:16 PM |
Klandace will be there too.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 31, 2024 4:18 PM |
And don't forget to include the 2-4 paid black faces with Trump signs amongst a sea of white MAGA supporters placed strategically behind Trump at all his rallies.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 31, 2024 4:22 PM |
Didn't he speak at a "black church" where most of the parishioners were white? This could be comedy gold so I'll reserve my opinion until after this magnificent and tremendous event concludes.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 31, 2024 4:24 PM |
"Kamala Harris is a crappy black person. She will be terrible for the blacks. Nobody does more for the blacks than me."
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 31, 2024 6:02 PM |
[quote]Trump to address black Journalists.
I shudder to think what he will address them as.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 31, 2024 6:06 PM |
They should ask what he meant when he said that world leaders will walk all over her because of "how she looks".
[quote]“She’ll be like a play toy,” he said. “They look at her and they say, ‘We can’t believe we got so lucky.’ They’re going to walk all over her.” Trump wouldn’t spell out what exactly he meant, adding: “And I don’t want to say as to why. But a lot of people understand it.”
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 31, 2024 6:13 PM |
"Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day."
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 31, 2024 6:15 PM |
Now live CNN-the shit himself
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 31, 2024 6:19 PM |
It's not going well.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 31, 2024 6:21 PM |
This is GOLD! Hahahaha the audience is laughing at him.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 31, 2024 6:22 PM |
Be patient, R11.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 31, 2024 6:23 PM |
[quote]It's not going well.
And this is surprising because...?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 31, 2024 6:24 PM |
I’m watching now. This is so funny! He yells “they are taking black jobs!” The interviewer says “what’s a black job!’ Hahaha
Now he’s complaining he can’t hear her and it’s all her fault.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 31, 2024 6:25 PM |
I hope they rip him to shreds!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 31, 2024 6:25 PM |
Unbelievable open borders!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 31, 2024 6:26 PM |
OMG! He’s nuts! Certifiably nuts!
Kudos to the moderator for keeping her composure
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 31, 2024 6:27 PM |
Kamala's campaign team will have fun with these quotes.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 31, 2024 6:28 PM |
This is unbelievable that he would carry on like this!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 31, 2024 6:29 PM |
He called the first interviewer/host nasty and rude to her face. I think I might have walked out at that point.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 31, 2024 6:29 PM |
The interviewer just butts in when he doesn’t answer the question. “What’s your plan.” And he just babbles and doesn’t answer anything. Lots of vague shit like he’s hallucinating.. his ear looks fine and shows he’s a cry baby bitch. He sounds like an old dementia sufferer.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 31, 2024 6:29 PM |
He’s now referring to himself as a prosecutor.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 31, 2024 6:30 PM |
again, you did not WIN the case in Florida. The dingbat you appointed dismissed it pending appeal.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 31, 2024 6:31 PM |
He’s insulting the interviewer again and the audience gasped.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 31, 2024 6:32 PM |
This criminal will make this work for him or he wouldn’t have done it-wait n see.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 31, 2024 6:32 PM |
He's talking to journalists like he talks to his idiot fans, as if they're going to swallow all his lies.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 31, 2024 6:33 PM |
Use the Apollo Theatre's world-famous hook and drag his stank ass off the stage. Be careful of his boobooed ear... or not.
And stop calling him sir.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 31, 2024 6:33 PM |
"not something I've heard before" Jesus Fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 31, 2024 6:33 PM |
Does Harris Faulkner have facial paralysis?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 31, 2024 6:35 PM |
You guys make it sound as though the audience is going to end up outright hating him?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 31, 2024 6:35 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 31, 2024 6:36 PM |
He doesn't even bother with dogwhistles any more, he just says the quiet part out loud. The N word is going to slip out soon, I'm sure.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | July 31, 2024 6:37 PM |
Baby is whining about the mics and he can't hear Harris. Isn't she sitting 10 feet away? Do you need a hearing aid, Donald?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 31, 2024 6:38 PM |
so basically, yeah, he sucks, but who really cares? it doesn't matter.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 31, 2024 6:39 PM |
He’s such a prick. I hope any fence sitters see this and are horrified at his crude behavior.
You wouldn’t let your child behave this badly in public.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | July 31, 2024 6:39 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 31, 2024 6:39 PM |
"everybody wanted it." This is such a stupid lame lie.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | July 31, 2024 6:40 PM |
“They are allowing the abortion of babies after they are born”
🙄
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 31, 2024 6:40 PM |
Why any of this is surprising to anyone at this point is beyond me.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 31, 2024 6:41 PM |
He just said Democrats are killing babies after they're born and the interviewer says "that's illegal in every state". And he just blew past that and kept bloviating. I cannot believe that people are so fucking stupid to believe this asshole.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 31, 2024 6:41 PM |
So write the fucking question on a card and hand it to him for answeing.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 31, 2024 6:42 PM |
oh, god he is such a stupid whiny bitch. it's truly embarrassing, though never surprising.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 31, 2024 6:43 PM |
Aaron Rupar:
[quote] Trump doesn't answer a question about if JD Vance will be "ready on day one" "The vice president in terms of the election doesn't have any impact," Trump says. Not exactly a ringing endorsement!
Hahahaha
by Anonymous | reply 49 | July 31, 2024 6:43 PM |
R46 Lmao! "Post-birth abortion". Perhaps he just heard his mother wish out-loud for such a procedure so often that he's taken it as a legitimate thing?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | July 31, 2024 6:44 PM |
Someone needs to throw a net over him and haul him off to a psychiatric facility.
Now claiming Kamala Harris did not pass the bar exam.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | July 31, 2024 6:45 PM |
He’s defending J6 and notes the red paint will always be a stain that will be there forever.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | July 31, 2024 6:46 PM |
I'm several minutes delayed.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | July 31, 2024 6:47 PM |
He’s complaining that the J6 people were ushered into the capitol. Yeah ok
by Anonymous | reply 55 | July 31, 2024 6:47 PM |
What clowns are running his campaign? This is an utter disaster. Maybe they secretly despise him too like everyone else and set him up to fail.
Whatevs, I am enjoying the show!
by Anonymous | reply 56 | July 31, 2024 6:48 PM |
I’m glad you got that R53 because I couldn’t figure out what the hell he was trying to say.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | July 31, 2024 6:48 PM |
Will he tell The Blacks "You'll never vote again!"?
by Anonymous | reply 58 | July 31, 2024 6:48 PM |
He’ll tell them that’s not a black job R58
by Anonymous | reply 59 | July 31, 2024 6:49 PM |
I wonder if they've just given up r56. Let weirdo grandpa just go yell at some black ladies, cause this shit is done anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | July 31, 2024 6:49 PM |
"How come nothing happened to YOU people?!"
by Anonymous | reply 61 | July 31, 2024 6:51 PM |
I think he is in the throes of narcissistic collapse. He thought he had this election all sewn up and then the stuff of his nightmares, a popular, confident, accomplished black woman, appeared to steal his thunder. You think he can't get uglier, but there is no bottom for him.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | July 31, 2024 6:51 PM |
This is how he was during the debate. No one noticed because Biden’s performance was so shocking.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | July 31, 2024 6:51 PM |
He keeps repeating the boast that he's going to end inflation with a "Drill Baby Drill" policy.
Has nobody told him that U.S. oil production is at an all-time high under Biden?
by Anonymous | reply 64 | July 31, 2024 6:52 PM |
Pa.the.tic.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | July 31, 2024 6:52 PM |
“And then she turned Black…” OMFG.
Kamala and her team are going to have a field day with this. As they should.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | July 31, 2024 6:52 PM |
His team are fucking idiots because this was a disaster. They shouldn't have let him do it.
And I only saw a few minutes because I was watching the Olympics before.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | July 31, 2024 6:52 PM |
Grandpa, Matlock isn't real!
by Anonymous | reply 68 | July 31, 2024 6:52 PM |
I thought that "turning black" business might not go over well with the audience.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | July 31, 2024 6:54 PM |
The illegals are taking black jobs. What he meant is picking cotton and cleaning toilets, you know-the only jobs that black people should be doing.
He is such a vile racist POS.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | July 31, 2024 6:55 PM |
Kamala was Indian and then she turned black.
I wasn’t expecting much but this whole Q&A was unconscionable even for him.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | July 31, 2024 6:55 PM |
"Kamala might be an octoroon or even a quadroon, but she was never black-black"
by Anonymous | reply 73 | July 31, 2024 6:57 PM |
How does one turn black? Do you take a pill?
by Anonymous | reply 74 | July 31, 2024 6:58 PM |
Unsurprisingly weird.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | July 31, 2024 6:59 PM |
Yeah - but possibly even weirder than I imagined. Really strange things to say in public, even for Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | July 31, 2024 7:00 PM |
trump: The new Uncle Ruckus.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | July 31, 2024 7:00 PM |
R74 Ask John Howard Griffin.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | July 31, 2024 7:01 PM |
Republican strategist Shermichael Singleton on CNN:
"To question the vice president's ethnicity, I can't even say what I think ... I think a lot of black people will point to the former president and the Republican party and say this is why we will never give you our support."
by Anonymous | reply 80 | July 31, 2024 7:01 PM |
The movie "Hillbilly Elegy" was a "smash hit"?
FAKE NEWS
by Anonymous | reply 81 | July 31, 2024 7:02 PM |
I caught the last few minutes of this train wreck. I'm pissed that I can't get that time back.
And as a Black man, I'll never understand why any Black person or minority would ever consider voting for that asshole considering all the things he's said and done.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | July 31, 2024 7:04 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 83 | July 31, 2024 7:06 PM |
Do better, Black journalists.
donald played you like a vintage banjo.
Sad.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | July 31, 2024 7:06 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 85 | July 31, 2024 7:06 PM |
I'm not sure I can take much more jubilation observing as the GOP and Trump/Vance, in particular, continue to fall apart while being their own worst enemies. It's truly magical.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | July 31, 2024 7:06 PM |
And she’s a Jew hater that married a Jew!!!
He didn’t say that but you know he wanted to, but he ran out of time.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | July 31, 2024 7:08 PM |
Wrong account, r84?
by Anonymous | reply 88 | July 31, 2024 7:08 PM |
lolz
by Anonymous | reply 89 | July 31, 2024 7:09 PM |
When you sit home calling out the lies, and the reporters are sitting on their hands, except for obvious mistruths, it's not good.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | July 31, 2024 7:09 PM |
Doubling down on "black jobs" was an early clue things wouldn't go well.
I believe he did refer to Doug Emhoff as a "crappy Jew" as I understand it, R87?
by Anonymous | reply 91 | July 31, 2024 7:09 PM |
He is, for all intensive porpoises, done.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | July 31, 2024 7:10 PM |
I will never forget 2016. It's not done until it's done.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | July 31, 2024 7:11 PM |
Porpoises? Was that a J D Vance dig, R92?
by Anonymous | reply 94 | July 31, 2024 7:12 PM |
who told him this was a good idea?! lol
by Anonymous | reply 95 | July 31, 2024 7:14 PM |
This is all he is: a crumbling old man, insulting Jews and women.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | July 31, 2024 7:15 PM |
I love Karine Jean-Pierre and I hope she remains Press Secretary in the Harris administration.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | July 31, 2024 7:15 PM |
I am now a big fan of Rachel Scott. These are the questions that should be asked of him every day, and she was polite, poised, and professional while he threw a tantrum.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | July 31, 2024 7:16 PM |
What r84 said.
I saw Black journalists interviewed who predicted this and were against inviting Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | July 31, 2024 7:16 PM |
He did accomplish one thing today--getting the media to talk about him.
Which will be short lived until Kamala says something wonderful again.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | July 31, 2024 7:17 PM |
I just have this feeling that this event today sealed his fate.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | July 31, 2024 7:17 PM |
He said several repulsive, insulting things, R97. Context, please?
by Anonymous | reply 102 | July 31, 2024 7:18 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 103 | July 31, 2024 7:20 PM |
LOL at fact-checker Daniel Dale telling us on CNN that Trump's claim that "Harris just turned black" is false.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | July 31, 2024 7:20 PM |
Unfortunately his performance will work well with white voters.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | July 31, 2024 7:20 PM |
[quote] I just have this feeling that this event today sealed his fate.
You must have been in a coma for the last decade.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | July 31, 2024 7:21 PM |
I was surprised he had the composure to not call them the n-word.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | July 31, 2024 7:21 PM |
Maybe the white people you know, R106.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | July 31, 2024 7:21 PM |
It'll work with the racist uncles, r6. The young voters are going to hate this, and they're voting now that Biden's out.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | July 31, 2024 7:23 PM |
Damn, even my 96-year old, blind, double-stroke with resultant dementia Dad was fucking HOWLING at that flaming bag-of-shit performance. Actually said "As a Southern Black man who fought in TWO wars, THIS is who I fought for."
NABJ and Trump should take this act on the road; I would buy a ticket for that shit.
by Anonymous | reply 112 | July 31, 2024 7:23 PM |
When he started by harping on how the event started late due to no fault of his own, I thought he would accuse them of being on Colored People’s Time.
by Anonymous | reply 113 | July 31, 2024 7:24 PM |
The NABJ got played.
by Anonymous | reply 114 | July 31, 2024 7:24 PM |

I wish now that I had watched this on Fox. Did anyone ? If so what was their reaction? There is no way this could have gone off as planned.
WTF were they thinking?
by Anonymous | reply 116 | July 31, 2024 7:27 PM |
I don’t get Fox here-did they “shield” their viewers from this ?
by Anonymous | reply 117 | July 31, 2024 7:28 PM |
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the people running his campaign served these journalists fried chicken or watermelon. You know, "We are NOT racist!"
by Anonymous | reply 118 | July 31, 2024 7:28 PM |
For those you missed it, you can watch here. Trump enters @ 1:12

You're ridiculous r99. They are JOURNALISTS. They are eliciting the responses we want to hear. They are not supposed to stomp and scream and protest over his every utterance.

Q. “What exactly is a black job, sir?"
Trump: "A black job is anybody that has a job! That's what it is.”
by Anonymous | reply 122 | July 31, 2024 7:31 PM |
[quote]The NABJ got played.
The NABJ didn't make a fool of themselves, Donald Trump did. And as a result, we have yet another example of why Trump and his ilk shouldn't be anywhere near the Whitehouse ever again.

Crushing this = having a narcissistic meltdown
by Anonymous | reply 124 | July 31, 2024 7:32 PM |
The dog whistles have been replaced by fog horns.
What donald was saying is that Vice President Harris "passes" opportunistically.
He was also saying the interview's delayed start was due to it being on CPT ("colored people's time").
What a shit storm!
by Anonymous | reply 125 | July 31, 2024 7:33 PM |
Stranger than fiction.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | July 31, 2024 7:33 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 128 | July 31, 2024 7:33 PM |
Thanks for the clips, NABJ! Saves us money!
by Anonymous | reply 130 | July 31, 2024 7:34 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 134 | July 31, 2024 7:39 PM |
If they are glad about the way things went, it's more along the lines of "voters need to see him for what he really is!"
by Anonymous | reply 135 | July 31, 2024 7:41 PM |
His hater-base are so proud-he’s crushing it!
by Anonymous | reply 136 | July 31, 2024 7:41 PM |
Did he by any chance say that slavery was good since it provide guaranteed jobs to new immigrants from Africa?

They could make a great ad from his quotes at this thing.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | July 31, 2024 7:43 PM |
I guess he doesn't get that the MAGA base is locked in but he needs other voters (like black people) to win.

But, nooooooo!😹

What ever plan trump had when he went in disappeared about half way thru the first question he got.
I wonder if Junior and Fredo told him this was a good idea.

I don't need to try harder r133 to know that Trump knows his deliberate behavior here in full unapologetic Redneck Asshole mode, before this audience, is applauded by his moronic base.
Now, it's already pointed out that he already has his base, but I think he's sending a Dog Whistle to bigoted Americans who may be wavering in voting for him with See? This is why you like me.
The Secret Trump Voter is a real thing.
And he knows it.
The NABJ gave him a platform. They got played.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | July 31, 2024 7:50 PM |
I'm a bit sad that he didn't ever address the audience as "you people" at least once.

by Anonymous | reply 147 | July 31, 2024 7:53 PM |
I like how Massa Trump entered the stage and told the assembled Negroes that it was disrespectful how he was greeted.
I believe they should have stopped short of offering their pussies to grab. Except the Faux Fox Journaliste Negress Harris what's her name. I wonder if she has been the recipient of a Trump Pussy Grab in the past.
by Anonymous | reply 148 | July 31, 2024 7:54 PM |
They won't, R146. They see her as intelligent whereas they always saw him as a childish idiot.
by Anonymous | reply 149 | July 31, 2024 7:54 PM |
Every time, we say OK, surely this, THIS will be the thing that finishes off that fuckwad at long last.
This is a fucking train wreck to anyone sane -- but do we think it'll make a dent in what happens vote-wise?
by Anonymous | reply 150 | July 31, 2024 7:55 PM |
R143
Nope Trump went in trying to keep his black support or even expand his black support. I would have loved to have seen his senior staffs reaction while this train wreck was occurring.
He went off script at the first question then made an absolute fool of himself and he could not stop.
And one would have to be an idiot to suggest that trump did this just to speak to maga voters. No one could be that dumb,
by Anonymous | reply 151 | July 31, 2024 7:56 PM |
He is done
by Anonymous | reply 152 | July 31, 2024 7:57 PM |
And that thing about Kamala failing the bar exam?
Many, many practicing attorneys and judges, who are considered to be at the top of the game, have failed the bar exam, maybe even his favorite federal judge who guards him from himself, Judge Aileen Cannon.
He calls out Kamala in failing the bar exam because, to his racist, bigoted base, it's a reminder that she, just like any other minority who has earned higher credentials and office, probably only got there because of their favorite slur - DEI.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | July 31, 2024 7:58 PM |
It's not just the percentage (poll numbers), but to win you need turnout. He did a lot to help Harris with that today.

And Trump's henchmen are going to excuse pulling him off stage by blaming the late start.

R162, Trump’s vote among older & non-educated whites in the Blue Wall states fell about 5% in 2020. Those voters turned to Biden, giving him just enough votes to return those states to the Democratic fold. I believe Trump is trying to win back these voters by highlighting Harris’s race (& gender).

Sure, this disgusting racist display may excite the qult, but they were always going to vote for their orange god anyway.
It also gives plenty of ammo to Harris’s campaign, galvanizes any fence voters with this blatant hate - most people wouldn’t let their kids act like this in public - and it lives forever in the internet.

Yesterday I met with the council of black journalists. It went amazing, there was a lot of love. A LOT OF LOVE...in that room for Trump. Because you see what I've done and they're saying I was the greatest president ever maybe in the whole world because of the history of the blacks and what I've done for the blacks. Black jobs with great numbers and now it's all going away because of the crazy left. Crooked Joe and Laughing Kamala, she's indian but now she's black I guess, they're terrible for black jobs. It was a great event it went really well they're saying it was a perfect speech very powerful maybe the best anyone has ever done since Martin Luther King actually

But, R174, the Harris campaign seems to understand that, unlike Obama, Hillary leaned in a bit too much in the history-making nature - “I’m with her” - of her candidacy, turning off enough non-college educated & older white Blue Wall state voters.

There he goes again – shooting himself in the foot. Trump's self-delusions – in this case not merely claiming he was the "best president for Black people," but doing so IN FRONT OF a Black audience! – are almost entirely how he lost the 2020 election. He could've helped the GOP candidates in the two Georgia seats in the Senate two years ago, but "couldn't stop himself" from using all of his speaking time to bitch & moan about losing the election.

You don’t even say ‘hello, how are you.’ Are you with ABC, because I think they’re a fake news network, a terrible network,” Trump told Scott in response to the question “Why should Black voters trust you” given his past rhetoric about them.
[quote]He called Scott’s question “nasty” and said she had asked it “in a hostile manner.” In 2018, then-NABJ President Sarah Glover slammed Trump for “verbally abusing journalists,” calling his comments toward April Ryan, Abby Phillip and Yamiche Alcindor — which used similar language — “appalling” and “irresponsible.”
[quote]White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre almost immediately slammed the comments. “As a person of color, as a Black woman who is in this position that is standing before you at this podium, behind this lectern, what he just said, what you just read out to me is repulsive, it’s insulting,” she told reporters during the White House daily briefing.

Listen kids, ANYONE who would see this performance and (because of their putative redneck, racist, angry white) support Trump more, or change from undecided to Trump... ALREADY is for Trump. This election is about the 3-4 hundred thousand voters in 5-6 swing states. Those "double haters" or undecided, or under-engaged voters.... see this garbage and hold their nose. This reminded me of Trump being mocked behind his back at the 2019 NATO conference in London, and, as the "Washington Post" documents, at many other international meetings.

To be fair, the first questioner was immediately hostile and confrontational. And, are there no black male journalists who could have asked questions? He might have responded differently to a man. That being said, Trump played them like a master and they bit. He doesn't care what the media is saying about him; he achieved what he wanted- he's the top story ( for part of a day). Will it be enough to win? I hope not. But, it was so obvious that he thought the women were inferior fools and he was going to string them along. They became enraged, which made him secretly laugh. Harris is right to ignore it and get on with it. If she makes it an issue, it goes on much longer than it deserves to. But, of course, the media ( insulted bigly) will harp on this for weeks, offering every yahoo the chance to get their face on tv by saying the same thing on every CNN or MSNBC program.

Really r318? There should be considerations because Dump would rather speak with male journalists? The way Dump responded to the female journalists was very telling—he had total disrespect for them. That needs to be seen. And they were nowhere near being enraged. Dump’s handlers pulled him after 35 mins., and if you’re claiming it was because the interview started late, it didn’t start that late, and they were trying to end it even before that.
The truth is it was a dumpster fire. Dump needs some black votes because he can’t get there with the votes he has. Hence, his even agreeing to be interviewed there.
But you’re right in that Kamala needs to ignore it. Let everyone else point out the clusterfuck. She is concentrating on a hopeful vision, and she should stay the course.

Trump campaign deploying Black surrogates on airwaves following NABJ appearance
Trump’s NABJ remarks: Former President Donald Trump’s campaign is handling the blowback from his false claims a day prior about Harris’ racial identity by deploying its top Black surrogates to span the airwaves Thursday, including Sen. Tim Scott and Rep. Byron Donalds. Trump’s comments drew united opposition from Democrats, while Republicans offered up a mix of solidarity and deflection. However... how many know that Project 2025 is NOT a 10-year plan but a plan for the first 180 days of a Republican administration? How many know that there already exists a resume database of candidates who once installed will move swiftly to enact Project 2025? On and on...
Therefore... instead of all the pundits asking all of these Republicans about the race of Kamala Harris, why aren't they questioning these Republicans about Project 2025 and asking them to justify their support of it?

There is a troll on here convinced that this was a genius chess move on the part of Trump. No, it wasn't. He's desperate now and trying to reach out to some different people. But he's an utter failure because he can't help but say stupid things. He also got booed off stage at the Libertarian conference recently, another failure. But I guess that too was some sort of genius strategic move by Trump.

Yes, I know what these people are trying to insinuate, and if my memory serves me correctly, I believe that Warren mishandled that issue, IMHO. I always thought that she was just repeating what had been told to her by her family over her lifetime. Why would she question it?
Yesterday, I saw a clip from that crack pot lawyer, Alina Habba, at some Trump rally (I LOVED HER DRESS, THOUGH!) where she was yelling about Kamala Harris not knowing her roots. "I KNOW WHERE I CAME FROM, KAMALA!" -- (OH! MJ is playing the clip now!) Well... that's nice, but in not diminishing others who do not know their origins, do these people know that a race of people in the USA--African Americans, have no clue about their origins? In general, it was a history that was taken/stolen from them in which there were/are laws that stopped them from even seeking to learn and teach about that history. Just look at today where many areas of the country are trying to eliminate the teaching of Black history, etc

Confirmation that Trump's appearance at NABJ was delayed because he didn't want to be fact-checked:
Moments before former President Trump took the stage at the National Association of Black Journalists annual convention in Chicago on Wednesday, the organization’s president was called back to address an issue. Trump did not want to be fact-checked live and was refusing to go on stage, NABJ president Ken Lemon told Axios.
“[Trump’s team] said, ‘Well, can you not fact check? He’s not going to take the stage if you fact-check,'” Lemon said. The Q&A with the GOP presidential nominee was delayed more than an hour before he eventually joined a panel of Black journalists. At the time, President Trump blamed the delay on audio problems.

I wasn't pushed away. I was pulled in.
Jump on, Americans!

The FULL story
Scoop: Trump stalled Black journalists interview over fact-checking
Delano Massey, Sophia Cai, Russell Contreras
Moments before former President Trump took the stage at the National Association of Black Journalists annual convention in Chicago on Wednesday, the organization's president was called back to address an issue.
Why it matters:
Trump did not want to be fact-checked live and was refusing to go on stage, NABJ president Ken Lemon told Axios.
"[Trump's team] said, 'Well, can you not fact check? He's not going to take the stage if you fact-check,'" Lemon said. The intrigue: The Q&A with the GOP presidential nominee was delayed more than an hour before he eventually joined a panel of Black journalists, including ABC News correspondent Rachel Scott, Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner and Semafor reporter Kadia Goba.
At the time, President Trump blamed the delay on audio problems.
Lemon told Axios, "There were audio problems, but they were resolved very quickly."
"The bigger problem was his threat not to take the stage when he had agreed to go on. He did not want to be fact-checked, but we could not let him on the stage without fact-checking," Lemon said.
Behind the scenes: The stalemate was so prolonged that NABJ leaders were prepared to explain to the audience of nearly 2,000 people why Trump would not appear.
"I was prepared to go on stage to craft a statement, saying he decided not to go on stage because of fact-checking... we couldn't compromise on that.
As Lemon was preparing that statement, Trump walked onto the stage. The other side: The Trump campaign disputes NABJ's account. Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung told Axios on Friday that they waited "for close to 40 minutes while audio/technical issues were fixed by NABJ."
Audio issues were apparent during the event.
Zoom in: Lemon says Trump's team eventually asked NABJ not to post the fact-checking on its social media platforms or allow the moderator to disclose that there would be fact-checking.
ABC's Rachel Scott discussed the fact-checking on stage, and NABJ publicized ahead of the event that there would be fact-checking."
by Anonymous | reply 436 | August 2, 2024 1:17 PM |
Catch up quick: Earlier this week, NABJ announced that Trump would be in Chicago to conduct the in-person interview, creating a divide among members who didn't think the organization should provide him with the platform.
Lemon and other leaders have noted that NABJ has traditionally invited both candidates to the convention every election cycle. He said he understands the disappointment.
Zoom out: Members began lining up three hours ahead of the event to get a seat in the more than 2,000-seat auditorium, making their way through a line that snaked through the hallway.
Once everyone was seated, they waited patiently for the interview to begin, having been told the program would begin "momentarily."
Ultimately, the program that was supposed to begin at noon central time did not begin until more than an hour later. Between the lines: In the aftermath, members remain divided on whether it was right for NABJ to extend the invitation and give a platform to Trump. Some said it was embarrassing; others praised the interviewers for their tough questioning.
Brittany Cummings, a communications professional, was among the members who didn't think the organization should have extended the invitation to Trump.
"I'm not sure that any group of journalists has the 'secret sauce' to make him tell the truth and speak as a normal candidate would," she said. "He's not a normal candidate, so we can't treat him as such."
"During the actual discussion, he was disrespectful, and I don't think there was anything new to learn."
The bottom line: Lemon said it is important for people to know that NABJ did not let anything slide. They said "no" several times to ensure the event was put together correctly and to protect the women conducting the interviews.
"Our whole team stood our ground."
Editors' note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that moderator Rachel Scott did not address the fact-checking controversy from the stage. She did.

[quote]R398, “the South” has actually been defined by the U.S. Census Bureau, and includes Kentucky and Maryland.
I'm truly baffled as to whether this is a troll post, but it's definitely not the Census Bureau's call either way. (D.C. is "the South"? Seriously? Despite being the Union's HQ during the Civil War?) Moreover, they seem to have stuck Kentucky in it because they decided it was a better "fit" than being in their Midwestern division. Do you even live in the South? I do. Literally no one considers even Texas or Florida to be truly Southern, and arguing Maryland & D.C. qualify as such is absurd. Kentucky may be slightly less absurd, but it's a toss-up.
Further, there are at least three definitions of what "counts" as Southern. ACTUAL Southerners only include the states listed on ALL of these, with the exception of Florida, which was included as "the South" solely for geographical reasons. Florida & Texas being part of the Confederacy isn't a decider, much like Maryland, Delaware & D.C. being in the Census Bureau's list doesn't count. The main other scale is the Mason-Dixon Line, which is a bit absurd given that it predates the Revolutionary War and is no more than a line "separating" Pennsylvania from Maryland.
Finally, the only "real" argument here is whether Virginia still qualifies as the South: it's flipped from red to blue, but backtracked a bit in 2022 when they elected a Republican governor, albeit mainly due to people being "upset" with Biden for no particular reason. Still, there's at least a reasonable argument that it still counts.
[quote]FINALLY! The TRUTH reveals itself! Thank you, R429!!!
The truth I posted yesterday? (R429 merely confirmed my own post.) I assumed, clearly incorrectly, that this was common knowledge: I would've included the Lemon quote had I known OP was weirdly unconvinced.
[quote]But if the election were held “today” I have NOt seen anyone , those that are paid to know more than us on this, say that Harris would win in the EC.
Well golly: if you haven't seen someone do something, that must be unequivocal proof! (In reality, however, polling is still wildly off, and all the polling for BOTH of the last two presidential elections has been considerably off on Election Day. Per the polls, Hillary "should" have won in 2016 and Trump "should" have won in 2020, after considering their popularity with voters three months ahead of the vote.
[quote]Post-debate, I wanted both Biden and Harris out. I said so here, repeatedly. The ingrained bigotry of Americans had internalized a pessimism in me that convinced me she couldn't win. As stated upthread he's been on fire during his CNN appearances during the waning das of the Biden campaign, making excellent arguments about why Joe had to go (he convinced me). Battle tested and hardened, he'll help them a lot.

Gossip had it a couple of weeks ago, when Jennifer O'Malley Dillon was retained by Harris as campaign leader-in-charge, she made it clear that if she stayed on, her word, except for Kamala's, was the final one.
The rumors of Plouffe taking a role were rampant then, and I inferred from Dillon's stand that she would refuse a subordinate role to Plouffe.
I'm surmising that had to be a topic during negotiations with Plouffe.

Barak had yet to make a call. Eric Holder is leading the team for the vetting of the new Vice President and of course Plouffe would be brought in to help assure a win. After all, this is all done in the spirit for saving the historic legacy of President Biden.

Obama's team is now running her campaign, which is fantastic! They are lightyears above all other Democratic managers and strategists. Stephanie Cutter is the queen of effective messaging. She's also running the convention this year, so expect a real barn-burner with great entertainment and speeches:
The Harris campaign is also being joined by Stephanie Cutter, a Democratic communications veteran, who previously served as Obama's White House communications director and deputy campaign manager. She will join the campaign as senior adviser on strategy messaging.
Cutter's firm is on contract to produce the Democratic National Convention in August.
Other Obama alums joining the campaign include Mitch Stewart, who worked on both Obama campaigns, and will come in as senior adviser on battleground states.
David Binder, who led Obama's public opinion research operation, will expand his role on the Harris campaign to lead the opinion research operation.

Harris probably wouldn't have won against Trump in 2020 hence the Perez alignment of candidates, headed by Jim Clyburn, behind Biden.
History will record Perez as the quiet savior of America.

And Cheryl at r477, it most certainly is the continuation of the Obama/Obama/Biden/Harris POLICIES.
Only more aggressive.
What world would we be in if Obama said that the Senate, in delaying the vote on Garland, simply did a DIRECT APPOINTMENT, and let the yet to be corrupted SC with Garland ON the court, NOT recusing himself, decide if a delayed vote was a no vote. I think we might have got a recusal determination.

Actually my favorite moment in the whole interview is when Rachel turns her head away and Trump reaches over and steals her water bottle. He already had his own on a table on his other side.
Did he think it made him look "dominant" ? Real men don't ask for water, they take it! It's such a chickenshit move because he clearly waited to do it when she wasn't looking. So Trump.

I don’t know if it’s been said because I haven’t read the thread. BUT I wish Kamala had come out swinging harder with her response. Not in intensity, but with what she chose to say. It would be cool if she had calmly said:
“No matter how many times he says he loves us, Trump really seems to have an issue with black people in power. He tried to force Obama to prove he is an American. And now he’s questioning my heritage. For a man who lives in a glass tower, and who has never met me, he professes to know a lot about my blackness.”

Biden dropping out was a shock. Of course I was going to vote for him even if he was losing a step; I know he has a great team behind him. Kamala Harris, I hadn’t paid much attention to her but she seemed unpopular. However, she came out with guns blazing. Full support of the Dems (a miracle to corral those puppies). She’s able to beat Trump easily in the social media war; not afraid to call a dog a dog. Biden couldn’t do that, it’s not in his old-school nature but Harris can. That’s what is so encouraging, the spark. The best way to defeat Trump is to laugh at him and he haaaaates that. He’s going down.

The fact checking was eg, the woman from ABC who interrupted Trump during his rambling answers. They were both talking at once and she was saying “that’s not true”, stuff like that.
