We finished hate-watching all 6 seasons of "Girls" for the first time. My thoughts are below.
1. Shoshanna is the only character who does anything interesting over time. I loathed Zosia Mamet's character on "The Flight Attendant". But she was interestingly quirky in Season 1 and grew on me in future seasons. She was especially great in Season 3 when she turned on all the other girls in this scene.
2. The first season of Girls was good. It was funny, well-written, and introduced characters with a lot of potential.
3. But all of that potential was wasted (other than Shoshanna). All of the other characters - major and minor - did nothing. Each season was like a xerox copy of the season before: same content but an increasingly shittier presentation.

Maybe you're a little Shoshanna-matized, OP, but I'm mostly in agreement. Chock-full of flaws and irritatingly undisciplined, it's also remarkably fresh at times, and when it's good it's very good. It's also one of the few shows that would completely startle me and I would burst out laughing.
Dunham is hated in these parts, but bizarre as she is I wish her well and hope she might have another short series or two in her future that have some spark of this one.

It was basically a hipster/Brooklyn /millennial version of Sex and the City. There were some good laughs but most of the stuff with Hannah didn’t seem plausible.
