He’s been ruining sketches forever. He’s horrendous.
Why hasn’t SNL fired Kenan?

People love him and he doesn't ruin sketches

He's the cast member most beloved by Lorne Michaels and the writers and the other cast members in the history of the show. He is apparently one of the most lovable people in show biz.

He is one of the only funny things on SNL right now.

I will always love him for his portrayals of:
1) the host of "What's Up with That?"
2) Whoopi Goldberg ("And then I gave that cat one of these!")
3) Florida Evans (most of all)

Why haven’t they fired most of them. So many aren’t funny and are forgettable.

For some odd reason that makes me irrationally happy, R2.
I haven't watched SNL in almost two decades, but when someone posts a clip featuring Kenan, he's mostly hilarious. Unlike Leslie Jones, who I adore outside SNL, where in almost sketch I've seen of her she was horrific. Or mostly all the other nameless, faceless actors populating the show the last 15 years.

DEI Hire!

He’s dependable and likable. He is like the comfort food of late night sketches. That’s a more difficult niche to fill than it might seem.

He's consistently able to transcend the SHITTY writing.

Kenan once talked about reaching 20 years at SNL and perhaps leaving. He's been there for 21 now.

I love minds like yours, OP. Tuesday afternoon in July, and you're thinking on Keenan.
He always smirks, of which I'm not fond. But he's familiar and a comfort, I suppose. Mostly I just don't understand why everyone makes a fuss over him.

He’s committed to staying through the 100th anniversary of the show.

He's one of the few that DOESN'T bug me. That cocky SOB who's married to ScarJo grinds my last nerve and is so unfunny to me.

A former Nickelodeon star who didn’t succumb to Dirty Dan.

How do we know he wasn’t molested? Maybe Lorne is being sweet by allowing this damaged man a security blanket-like status on the show to compensate for Dan’s filth.

His delivery, comedic timing, and the tone of his voice are all atrocious. He ruins every sketch for me.

I tend to think anyway that we won’t be hearing this summer of his or any other cast member’s firing, nor new hires, because of the possibility of there being only this one more upcoming season (at least under the current format or Lorne era), or because the existing cast might all want or be asked to remain in place (even if for continuity’s sake) due to this being the show’s milestone 50th anniversary.

He's been beloved since the kid's series and that burger movie.
More power to him.
