Do you think you could handle walking the Cannes Film Festival red carpet?
or any festival that a lot of famous actors attend?
If you were an independent film maker whose short film or indie movie got into the festival and you were invited to attend and walk the red carpet, would you do it?
I don't know if I would. I'm ugly and even if my movie was great, nobody would know who I am, so I'd look pathetic posing on the red carpet when real celebrities are everywhere getting their picture taken.

I kind of feel bad for actors or directors or whoever just want to make a good film because today it is all about social media bullshit.

If I had a movie I was trying to support and get publicity for, I'd suffer through it.

Don't worry, op.
I'll be sure to move you along, toots.
And if you don't move your saggy ass, I'll drag you out of there!

This happened to me once. I was the plus one for an event honoring Julia Roberts at the Beverly Hilton. I was dressed up in a tux -- and I DID look smashing, I may add -- and the only entrance into the ballroom was via the red carpet. My friend was already inside so I walked it alone, and all the flashes went off from the photographers, it was just like you see on TV, like a blinding lightning storm. As I walked I could hear some of them ask "who is that?", "Anyone got a name on this guy?", and "Oh he's nobody."
GUTTED.

Photographers don't care about those, it would be exactly like what r4 described. If they did pap you, those photos would be erased quickly. Maybe published on Getty Images and the like if they did manage to identify you.

Dope yourself up and get through it. Walk fast and look straight ahead and they won’t take pictures.

I used to work for an entertainment PR firm and one of the toughest red carpet moments for me was when I walked a client down the Golden Globes red carpet. The client was on a popular TV show that was nominated, but he was a character actor that hadn't yet established himself on the show. I introduced him to the press and photographers, but nobody was interested. He pleaded with me, "Do something!" So I had to coral him in with Lara Flynn Boyle to get him some media coverage. I doubt it ever made the press but at least it was something.

Of course I could handle it. I do handle it. What's the big deal?
Anonymous? Good. I want to be anonymous to the public. I like my life and don't like how people act, including the other "guests."
I go because I'm invited and because I have the respect of a lot of people I have worked with. N
The people I know who receive the heavy level of attention and paps and all the rest - who aren't insane, because a lot of them are severely mess up - either beg for the attention when they think they need it and hate it, or get the attention without wanting it and hate it.
Ugly, you say? Have you SEEN the people on the red carpets? Greased-up, overdressed, looking like fools, stoned out of their minds, rude to handlers and staff, slouching around, hating it all? That ain't beauty.
