So what do we all think of the latest Star Trek development? Michelle Yeoh is camping it up in her Section 31 movie. Mary Wiseman is only a guest on the Academy but Tig Notaro and Robert Picardo will be regulars.
STAR TREK Section 31 and the Academy: What do we think so far?

And here is the link about casting for Star Trek Starfleet Academy.

Meh. I don’t hold out a lot of hope. All all the Trek since Discovery came out around 2017, season 3 of Picard was all I found good and worth watching - than a few fleeting moments in the first two seasons of Discovery - which went down the shitter from season3 onward.

Would like to see a show with Jeri Ryan as Captain Seven of the Enterprise G.

I'm in the minority, but I love a more action-y, Abrams-y Trek occasionally, and so that Section 31 clip is right up my alley. And some of the guys in it are really hot.

So relieved about the first bit and incredibly excited about Picardo.

Star Trek meets Crazy Rich Asians meets RuPaul's Drag Race.
Stupid high heels in Trek movie just dont work for me. It' trying to camp but serious. Hard Pass.
Also why must every strange new land always be populated by Asian culture?

Just make all of new Trek an AU and get rid off it.

Picardo playing the Doctor again - that has story potential. And if Tig Notaro receives some good writing and helpful direction - this should be a winner. These two casting choices puts me a bit more at ease about the show. Little concern: I always thought that Discovery's main cast was too large and couldn't be serviced properly in ten-episode seasons. The cast of this show looks like it's quite large, too. I hope they found a good way to balance this ensemble.

The clip from Strange New Worlds was great. I'm looking forward to the show coming back.
Not interested in the Academy show, although that could change if the trailer is good.
The Section 31 trailer left me cold. It was trying too hard and didn't align with what we've been told about Section 31 to this point.
The other new show described as The Office meets Star Trek is an interesting but unusual idea. It could work, depending on the writing.

Section 31 will not be popular. People generally don't like the darker takes on Star Trek.

I can't stand Michelle Yeoh so I won't be watching it.

Oded Fehr is fantastic and HOT as Admiral Vance.
Glad to see Vance will be on Starfleet Academy.

Hopefully they'll go a while without mentioning Burnham or talking about their feelings.

Looking at the comments on OP's video, I see the organized far right troll review bombing has already begun.

R13 Organized far right trolls = legacy Trek fans

Oh, no, babe - you're not fooling anyone. You're one of the racist trolls who thinks that non-white women characters have no place in Star Trek - hence that crack about Michael Burnham at R12.
Then there's the trolls attacking Asians in general (R5) and Michelle Yeoh in particular (R10).
This bullshit has all played out before with other Trek series. And with Star Wars.
Take the hatred back to 4chan and leave it there.

Just recall that organised Russian campaign when the first Rings of Power teaser came out and you'll understand these by and large aren't actual Trekkies, they're fucking foreign trolls trying their hardest to incite a race war.

R15 Swing and a miss, but thanks for the entertaining stupidity.

R16 Rings of Power sucked hard enough on its own without having any campaigns against it.

Time to start binge-watching the old series. I used to be so up on Trek. Love me some Michelle Yeoh, so I will be catching up with this one.

Taking bits on the percentage of the cast that will be either gay or non-CIS.

I really wanted to give this a fair shot, but it really is as bad as they say. The whole fucking thing is shot in an abandoned quarry and the adjoining forest, and that's just for starters. Interior shots are recycled sets from SNW and DISCO. Yes, I know that's the case for most Trek, but they could have classed it up just a bit for a movie.
Love Michelle Yeoh, but this was 100% a vanity project for her. I even recall the producers saying two or three years ago they were only pushing this through because Yeoh was insisting on keeping it alive. And because she had just gotten an Oscar at that point, they had no choice but to go along.
Also, I don't mean to be a bitch, but she attempts French several times in this, with predictable results, seeing how she can't even deliver the English lines with correct inflection most of the time. Great fight scenes, though. But that's not Star Trek, and they go on forever.
Shout out to Sven Ruygrok, the handsome South African actor with perfect teeth. Seth Efricans are taking over the States, and it's all happening so fast!

Section 31 was pretty bad. The editing was trash. You would have thought it was directed by Michael Bay considering there was never a shot that lasted longer than 2 seconds.
Also, I love Michelle Yeoh but in those opening scenes, I felt as though I was watching Madame Morrible from Wicked more than Philippa Georgiou.

Well, I LIKED it!
