Who remembers when PETA made a list of phrases people couldn’t say anymore because they’re offensive to animals?
Cynthia Nixon shared her lobster dinner and PETA had some thoughts about it

Comparing eating lobster to eating your dog? Or even a human? Idiots.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 28, 2024 11:30 PM |
Anyone involved with PETA is mentally ill and shouldn't be taken seriously.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 28, 2024 11:30 PM |
I don’t agree with PETA and I eat dead cooked, delicious animals.
But I’m not a fan of boiling live animals to death. I hope they cook lobster differently now.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 28, 2024 11:40 PM |
You can microwave them r3. Still alive but it’s quicker.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 28, 2024 11:45 PM |
I live with a PETA member and had no peace during the Lady Gaga performance at the Olympics because it was awash in ostrich feathers.

Cynthia Nixon shared her lobster dinner for GAZA!

That was your first mistake.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 28, 2024 11:53 PM |
Peta should start focusing on not killing all the animals put in their care first and foremost. Until then they can just fuck off about the eating habits of others, please and thank you.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 28, 2024 11:56 PM |
well, would you eat your dog?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 28, 2024 11:57 PM |
Nah, she's too old -- her meat would probably be tough and stringy.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 28, 2024 11:59 PM |
Cynthia needs to CLAP BACK ASAP !!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 29, 2024 12:02 AM |
PETA has done more for animals than DL could possibly imagine.
It's the publicity stuff that's over-the-top crazy. But if they didn't do that stuff, they wouldn't have the power they have (and you'd be surprised how much power they have , especially in the entertainment world).
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 29, 2024 12:05 AM |
R12 Ha. I've heard a conspiracy theory that PETA is actually funded by agricultural lobbyists like industrial dairy and meat farms. They pay PETA to do deeply unpopular things and harrass people. Like the people at the top know the money is coming from "the enemy" but they rationalize it by thinking the money actually helps them spread the message better and it helps more animals in the long run. But I'm fairly convinced one day there's going to be a leak and its proven PETA gets a whole lot of donations from unexpected places.

You and PETA are essentially anthropomorphizing an insect.
Lobsters lack the type of nervous system that would make them feel capable of feeling “pain” as we know it..
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 29, 2024 12:09 AM |
If a lobster is able to keep molting, it can theoretically live forever. Better get them before they get us.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 29, 2024 12:10 AM |
How the hell do you even eat that? It’s a giant ocean bug. Nasty.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 29, 2024 12:14 AM |
I stopped eating octopus for these people. That’s as far as I go.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 29, 2024 12:19 AM |
The overwhelming majority of the population pays for animals to be brought into into existence and be tortured in horrible horrible eays before being brutally slaughtered, yet they have the absolute gall to criticize Peta for painlessly euthanizing an animal out of altruism. Your average person hasn’t had a single critical thought in their life.
I’m not thrilled with how PETA does a lot of things, but they’ve done 100000x more good for animals than the average person. The people who make fun of them/attack them the most are overcompensating for their horrific treatment of animals.
Lobsters are one of the main reasons I adopted a vegan lifestyle. It’s one of the cruelest things we do, boiling them ALIVE.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 29, 2024 12:24 AM |
R14 didn’t read the article he posted.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 29, 2024 12:26 AM |
R18 You went vegan because of LOBSTERS?
You're an idiot.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 29, 2024 12:29 AM |
I suspect she (like me) doesn’t give a fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 29, 2024 12:35 AM |
I'd rather have crab.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 29, 2024 1:34 AM |
In the end, who really fucking cares if lobsters feel pain or not.
They’re LOBSTERS!
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 29, 2024 1:40 AM |
Oh no she ate a meal that tons of other people eat every day in coastal New England. Burn her!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 29, 2024 3:23 AM |
I can’t believe Cynthia Nixon invented eating lobster.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 29, 2024 3:25 AM |
PETA is absolutely exhausting. I tend to eat more vegetarian but whenever they raise a stink I want a turducken with a side of pork-beef meatballs.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 29, 2024 3:25 AM |
Most chefs kill their lobsters with a knife stroke to the head before they boil them.
I don't much care what PETA thinks one way or the other about anything. They've always been nutcases who are incapable of nuance in argument.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 29, 2024 3:27 AM |
Yeah, I ate a fucking lobster, I eat pussy, too!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 29, 2024 3:29 AM |
This guy raised a supermarket lobster and named it Leon. I've watched a couple of episodes and it does make you ambivalent about boiling lobsters alive. People should just kill them with a knife before putting them into boiling water.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 29, 2024 4:29 AM |
Haven’t had a good lobster in a long while. All this talk is making me crave one.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 29, 2024 4:46 AM |
Leon's an interesting guy. I love Brady's minifilms about Leon and the two cats.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 29, 2024 5:37 AM |
Oh, please!!!!! Oprah’s been eating snapping turtle and black tuna for years and PETA hasn’t said a damn word. Reverse racism anyone?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 29, 2024 6:19 AM |
R14 Bullshit. Those are the same kind of studies that deny animals feelings in general. Being boiled alive hurts. We're just telling ourselves that what what we regularly do to animals doesn't so we're okay with letting fish suffocate en masse or boiling lobsters etc. Everything that doesn't with our self-image we try explaining away, telling ourselves "Oh it's just a reflex". Pure speciecism. It's not about anthropormorphizing animals - it's about realizing we're not that different.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 29, 2024 7:52 AM |
I hope she took the leftovers home for lobster sandwiches on raisin bread.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 29, 2024 8:09 AM |
R4, this sounds worse. Fill the pot with a lid and bring to a rolling boil. They are gone as soon as they hit the water.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 29, 2024 8:16 AM |
Did she add prunes?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | July 29, 2024 9:02 AM |
Careful r38, that thing still lurks here.

PETA is for pussies.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | July 29, 2024 1:00 PM |
Allton Brown suggests putting them in the freezer which numbs them. Then you can use the knife.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 29, 2024 1:07 PM |
Even my pets are sick of PETAphiles.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | July 29, 2024 1:22 PM |
PETA needs to be dumped into the wild and see how animals treat them.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 29, 2024 1:33 PM |
I don't like freezing them. I don't think it's necessary and it only prolongs their suffering.
1. Make sure the pot is tall and has a tight lid.
2. Fill at least 2/3rds with water. Add a handful of salt, as this raises the boiling temperature.
3. Keep on the lid until last minute to trap heat. Boil furiously.
4. Add the lobster and replace the lid. It should die instantly.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 29, 2024 2:16 PM |
I hate doing it. That's why I get my lobster meat pre-steamed. I even hate that sound live mussels make in the fridge opening and closing their shells. Those I do cook myself; it's silly but it just seems morally less objectionable to kill them than lobsters.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 29, 2024 2:35 PM |
R45, I may be wrong here and, it may be an old wives tales, but I've heard that lobsters scream/let out a high-pitched noise when dropped into boiling water.
As for Alton's tip, you don't put them in the freezer for 10-15 minutes; it's supposed to to 'put them out.' However, when I Googled that, it says that freezing them and then putting them in boiling water could revive them.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 29, 2024 2:43 PM |
This thread has taken an unpleasant turn.

[quote] Allton Brown suggests putting them in the freezer which numbs them. Then you can use the knife.
I think freezing is also a form of suffering. I'd just run a knife through the head before dropping into boiling water. People think Alton Brown knows all.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | July 29, 2024 3:47 PM |
I don't like lobster enough to bother with any of this. Let 'em stay down there at the bottom of the ocean, as far as I'm concerned.
The only little crustaceans I'd bother with are shrimp and I'm sure they don't enjoy death either, but they're smaller and more bug like to me.

How did she become an actress much less a sex symbol on Sex and the City? She looks like a homely version of Dave Foley in drag.

JUST FUCKING SHOOT THEM IN THEIR LOBSTER BRAINS
