So talented all of them. And the most worked out athletes at the games. The core strength alone to do what they do. There is usually one gay dude or more. Who is it this time?

Nedoroscik is cute as hell. When he took his big nerd glasses off and squinted before he got on the pummel horse, he was adorable.
I've always been attracted to the hot nerdy types.
That picture of him in OP's post, though, is awful. He's much better looking than that.

Frederick“Flips” Richard. Its his nickname on his instagram account, can't make this stuff up. I liked in the clip last night on the Olympics how he is described as the cocky one on his team and kissed his biceps. Woof, I can see why he's so COCKy.

They would have won the bronze without him and he did a safer routine to make sure he could it
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 29, 2024 9:47 PM |
R21 His routine was rated with a higher degree of difficulty than any of the other guys'.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 29, 2024 10:12 PM |
r21
Yes it was but he did an easier routine to make sure he was secure for the team... He did a 6.5 difficulty in prelims and a 6.2 today to make sure he could hit
Thankfully the US would have won even if he had fallen... the US won with over 2 points over Great Britain... Depending on what he fell on, he could have fallen twice and still the US would have still won the bronze

by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 30, 2024 3:43 PM |
Frederick Richards is very handsome, the handsomest guy on that team, and he has great arms and a lovely torso. But those skinny legs are a deal-breaker, a real turnoff.

by Anonymous | reply 38 | July 30, 2024 5:52 PM |
R21, Excuse you? You know more than any other commentator on this topic?
The teams had, and had to have, 5 members. Five. Whom would you have suggested as #5 instead of Stephen? Let's have the name, because there is no-one in the US better on the pommel horse.
Also, a different fifth member might have screwed up on a preceding piece of apparatus, because that gymnast would have been in it as an All-Around, unlike Specialist Nedoroscik.
Thus, a different teammate might have meant Team USA would NOT have been in a position to medal.
Moreover, that Stephen slightly changed his difficult routine did not mean it became EASIER than others', because it was not. His arm strength in elevating his entire body was superior.
Finally, even Nedoroscik might have faltered under the pressure. That is, he could have single-handedly LOST the team's Bronze Medal.
But he did not.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 30, 2024 6:08 PM |
And yes, gymnasts, male and female, often have short spark-plug physiques, just as there are lanky "swimmers' bodies" and extra-tall basketball builds.
Nedoroscik is listed as 5'7" and in some places as 5'5". Obviously his stature suits his skill.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 30, 2024 6:14 PM |
Jus plug in someone else's score from Qualifying and see if they still would have won.
You have to take comments.from.thr commentators with a grain of salt... especially US commentators. They're the same ones who exclaim Kerri Steug eon the Gold for the US when in fact they didn't even need her to vault.
That being said, I like Stephens pommels routine and I'm glad he got to have his moment.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | July 30, 2024 6:16 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 30, 2024 6:28 PM |
So just to answer the question, replace Stephen's score with Fred's score from Quals and the US would still have won Bronze.
Again though, I'm glad Stephen had his moment.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 30, 2024 6:35 PM |
“Plug” was used in consecutive posts in different contexts. Kudos, DLers!
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 30, 2024 6:45 PM |
Going back to commentators... they choose their words intentionally to create the narrative they want to create.
The US Men's Team won Bronze by almost 2.5 points over the GBR team. They tell you that Stephen needs to hit the best routine of his life in order for the US to medal and he does and Stephen becomes a hero!
Alternatively, if they were covering the US Women's Team with the same point spread, the commentary would have been, "Simone is up last and she can fall two times and the US will still win the Gold because they're so dominant and so far ahead!"

It may have created that impression, but I heard one of the NBC commentators say before Stephen did his routine that Stephen just needed not to fall off for the U.S. to medal. The medal did depend on Stephen, but it just required him not to terribly mess up, since his average score would be sufficient for the bronze.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | July 30, 2024 9:05 PM |
Again, he could have fallen off twice and stumbled on the landing and they would have still won Bronze.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | July 30, 2024 9:10 PM |
Well the Chinese lost what, plus or minus 3 points, on just one rotation —stranger things could have happened.
Simone Biles could have had cardiac arrest on the floor routine, and Italy would have snagged the gold medal!

Stevie got Bronze, and with that competition he was lucky to medal. I trust he is grateful, for he seems like a humble sort with his head on straight.
Frankly, it's about time the "USA! USA!" learned to appreciate and value all three podium positions.

Heck, just look at Brody Malone.

The "Stephen shouldn't be gling to Paris" folks look even dumber today. Only American man to win a medal other than team here. Hell, the only American man to even qualify for any of the six apparatus finals. And we all know how the two Americans bombed in the AA final.

And because Jimmy is Jimmy, he challenged Stevie to solve a Rubik's Cube that Jimmy addititionally twisted out of alignment right then.
15 seconds. 👍
