Florida is not going purple, let alone blue, in our lifetimes. Gerrymandering, voters suppression tactics, and purging the polls of minority voters will guarantee that for the long haul.

I don't think Florida will go blue. But, I do have hope that what happened at The Villages may inspire people in some swing state or purple states,.

80,000 people are living in the villages, I don't think 500 carts are such a big deal. I think most of the residents in the villages are Republican. They are pretty conservative from What I have seen in the documentaries about them.

R30 - I believe Florida had the single most cross-country net migration in the past couple of years. A lot of them being younger Gen X, millennials and Gen Z seeking a better cost of living. Enough of them to make Florida Blue in 2024? Maybe not, but, I think it all comes down to turnout/enthusiasm now.

AND r37, condo owners are officially leaving the state in *droves* because of homeowners insurance. These people are motivated by self-interest. Teachers are leaving the state. Young parents are giving up on the schools. Creatives despise the state, a lot of the Cool Kids too — it’s not fun to be the butt of national jokes, you see. If people keep moving out, what happens to the net worth of The Villages? But I’ll still take it, I don’t give a fuck what’s motivating them, all are welcome to this change movement.
