Mark Kelly rips into JD Vance on Ukraine
Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), a contender to be Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, tore into Republican Vice President nominee Sen. JD Vance on Wednesday, saying Vance would “abandon” Ukraine in favor of Russia.
“It’s pretty clear to me you’ve got JD Vance who wants to totally abandon Ukraine, and you’ve got Donald Trump who has been in the past rather pro-Russia and leaned in with Vladimir Putin in ways I would never expect the president to do,” Kelly said in a brief interview with POLITICO. “So again, we have a serious choice to make, and I’d be really concerned about what those guys would do to abandon an ally in favor of an adversary. And that would be a much more dangerous world.”
Asked if he’s being vetted for the presidential ticket, Kelly declined to discuss it, saying, “I don’t get into private conversations.”
“This isn't about me. I mean, this is about Kamala Harris and making sure we win this election here in how many days, 100, less than 100?” he said. “This is really about her and Donald Trump — a prosecutor with all this experience running against a guy that's been convicted of 34 felonies and a choice about the future, or are we going back to the past where we were less safe.”

If there should be a Mark Kelly/JD Vance debate...JD will be toast.
But let's also remember that A LOT of Americans are uneasy with billions of dollars going to a war that should have ended a couple of years ago and with still no end in sight..

We get it, Kelly, you want the job.

Gurl, your team literally arranged for this interview to happen.

Underestimate JD Vance’s rhetorical skills at your peril. I loathe the fucking guy, but he is quite excellent at making a “populist” argument that the unwashed masses latch onto. Based on the last week and a half, he sucks at rallies and relating to the crowd; in more intellectual conversations though, he has a lot of cunning even when his positions are transparent horse shit.

How would a war between a geographically huge nuclear power with the biggest population in Europe, and its small, only reasonably wealthy, neighbor, be expected to end quickly? These are not evenly matched forces. Unless you mean that Ukraine should have just surrendered?
Or are you just flouncing and saying "I'm over it"?

Perhaps, but in a "more intellectual conversation" we might allow that his opponent will have enough nous to notice and point out that his positions are horseshit.
It doesn't matter how much the MAGA crowd might love him: that's redundant. They're already voting for Cheetolini.

Sen. Mark Kelly raised questions on Thursday about the fitness for office of Republican vice-presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance for once describing Democrats as “childless cat ladies.”
Kelly, D-Ariz., who is under consideration for the Democrats’ vice-presidential nomination, hit Vance, R-Ohio, for his 2021 comment and expanded it to another Vance remark involving abortion rights.
For Kelly, it was another opportunity to showcase the kind of attack-dog presence that is usually expected of vice-presidential candidates while he remains a possibility.
“It’s utterly ridiculous and obnoxious and wrong. What I really worry about is what he would do being one heartbeat away from the presidency,” Kelly told reporters about his GOP Senate colleague outside the U.S. Capitol.
“I mean, here’s a guy who when he’s talking about women who have been raped or who are pregnant because of incest that two wrongs don’t make a right," Kelly said. "What is wrong about a woman who has been raped … to be able to terminate a pregnancy? What’s wrong with that? I have two daughters and a granddaughter. I really worry about their rights if Donald Trump is elected again, and JD Vance is the vice president.”

We were told the same shit about Rhonda Satan. “He’s Trump, but smarter! And normal!”
We see how that worked out.

I kind of hope there's a VP debate. Vance would be a total embarrassment.

Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly, a possible contender for Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, attacked Sen. JD Vance over his stance on abortion, Ukraine and his comments about childless women.
“I have two daughters and a granddaughter. I really worry about their rights if Donald Trump is elected again and JD Vance is vice president. I mean, that really concerns me,” Kelly told CNN’s Manu Raju. Kelly also said that Vance’s opposition to aid for Ukraine is deeply concerning.
“If Donald Trump and JD Vance were back in the White House, it would be an utter disaster, and it would have a significant negative impact on our national security and the national security of our allies for decades,” he told reporters.
Asked about Vance’s comments about childless women, Kelly replied: “You know, it’s a ridiculous thing to say about someone. You know, it’s obnoxious, it’s rude, it’s also not surprising.”
The Arizona Democrat refused to say what he spoke about with Harris, but indicated that he is ready to serve as her running mate if asked.
“I’ve been a public servant since I was, even before I was in the Navy. I drove an ambulance when I was in high school. You know, I was a astronaut for 15 years. I flew with an aircraft carrier,” said Kelly.

If he wants to be VP, drop the Susan Collins rhetoric and be more forceful. This doesn't read like a threat to democracy, this reads like a housewife having issues with her local school board.
Tell me again, why Buttigieg can't be VP? Shit, even Beshear has to be better than this.

If you’re undecided it’s easier to think about a moderate assessment of risk than to believe hyperbole. It’s a good tone. Every message can’t make DL happy.
