Game over, MAGAs.

Also NY Times:. Here's how Obama's endorsement of Kamala Harris is great for Trump!

Took him long enough.

Don't worry Kamala, it's just a matter of time before he stabs YOU in the back, like he did to Joe Biden.

Word of advice: don't trust Obama, Pelosi, or Schumer.

by Anonymousreply 3July 26, 2024 9:34 AM

R1 stfu you annoy.

by Anonymousreply 4July 26, 2024 9:36 AM

How's the weather this time of year in Nizhny Novgorod, r3?

by Anonymousreply 5July 26, 2024 9:38 AM

R4 must be new.

by Anonymousreply 6July 26, 2024 9:41 AM

R3 Yes Obama deliberately decided to backstab the guy who served 8 glorious years as his Vice President. Not only that he convinced George Clooney, leading donors, high ranking Democrats, 86% of Americans, and this entire CNN panel the NIGHT OF THE DEBATE. And you better watch the video if you dare respond to me.

Everybody who pressured Biden to give up his re-election bid would have continued covering up for his increasing senility and fragility and exhorted us all to vote for "the only person who can defeat Trump" if only Joe could have managed to appear lucid at the debate.

The problem isn't "backstabbing," it's that a senile old man was propped up in our nation's most powerful position for as long as he was, to the detriment of the US.

Loyalty to the nation, not an individual, is what we need.

by Anonymousreply 9July 26, 2024 10:04 AM

I’m sick of people bashing the Times when they are the only mainstream publication people still read that is doing real investigative journalism. The Times isn’t the Democratic soapbox and that mentality is why society is in this mess and why most Americans now get their news on Facebook.

by Anonymousreply 10July 26, 2024 10:07 AM

R9 not only that. It was gaffe after gaffe. Every fucking day. He has dementia btw.

by Anonymousreply 11July 26, 2024 10:08 AM

The Washington Post says fuck you, r10, As does The Atlantic and several new media platforms that you fail to recognize for their investigative journalism.

by Anonymousreply 12July 26, 2024 10:10 AM

Boy, this thread went downhill fast.

What time zone in Russia are you in, posters?

by Anonymousreply 13July 26, 2024 10:12 AM

@r8, The NY Times and why that's bad for everybody 🙄

by Anonymousreply 14July 26, 2024 10:12 AM

The NY Times has earned its bash-worthy, ridicule-worthy position and I write this as someone who has been a decades long reader and print and digital subscriber.

And I'll continue to be one.

Carry on, r1.

Back to Barack.....it's about time, buddy!

by Anonymousreply 21July 26, 2024 11:48 AM

OP why would you think the former Democratic president endorsing the Democratic nominee is significant?

Obama endorsed Biden for reelection and Biden collapsed.

Why would you think this inevitable endorsement would change the minds of swing or reluctant voters?

Are you autistic or something?

by Anonymousreply 22July 26, 2024 11:49 AM

Obama endorses Harris. Why that’s bad for Biden.

by Anonymousreply 23July 26, 2024 11:50 AM

You got that right R13, it’s prime time at the troll farms in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

by Anonymousreply 24July 26, 2024 11:50 AM

OMG you ARE autistic! Half the posts in this thread are you!

Jesus Christ I’m good!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 25July 26, 2024 11:51 AM

r22, I'm not the OP but clearly Obama's endorsement only further unites Democratic solidarity. Not having a Primary is the best thing that could have happened. We don't have to deal with any dissension and sniping of candidates at each other when Kamala was only gonna get in the end anyway.

by Anonymousreply 26July 26, 2024 11:53 AM

Kamala ENDORSED

by Anonymousreply 27July 26, 2024 11:54 AM

It’s actually a fairly tepid endorsement and fairly late in the game. Maybe the stories are true and Harris wasn’t Obama’s first choice. I wonder who was.

by Anonymousreply 28July 26, 2024 11:54 AM

[quote] I’m sick of people bashing the Times when they are the only mainstream publication people still read that is doing real investigative journalism. The Times isn’t the Democratic soapbox and that mentality is why society is in this mess and why most Americans now get their news on Facebook.

Like R15, I am a lifelong subscriber to the NY Times, and think the paper has slipped across all departments. It's a shadow of its once great self, but there are a handful of writers still upholding some standards, so I will continue to read it. But it often deserves the mockery it gets here and elsewhere. For political reporting, the Washington Post is running circles around the Times.

by Anonymousreply 29July 26, 2024 11:55 AM

Post-Presidency Obama is always tepid.

by Anonymousreply 30July 26, 2024 11:55 AM

I always wonder about endorsements in general. The Obama's are personably very popular but is that something that is necessarily transferable? I guess it is better to have it than not?

by Anonymousreply 31July 26, 2024 11:57 AM

/personally

by Anonymousreply 32July 26, 2024 11:58 AM

[quote] Obama's endorsement only further unites Democratic solidarity

But Democratic voters were not the issue. This is not 2008.

The issue are swing voters and occasionally voters who don’t identify with a party.

by Anonymousreply 33July 26, 2024 11:58 AM

R22 It may not sway independents but it will motivate black people to go to the polls, specifically black men. And that r2 is great; it should be run as a tv ad. This may sway undecideds who are tired of Donald As the world Turns Trump.

by Anonymousreply 34July 26, 2024 11:58 AM

But Black people weren’t motivated by Obama’s endorsement of Biden’s second term and were abandoning Biden in record numbers.

by Anonymousreply 35July 26, 2024 12:00 PM

This endorsement is actually much more needed than Obama’s

by Anonymousreply 41July 26, 2024 12:13 PM

by Anonymousreply 54July 26, 2024 12:53 PM

by Anonymousreply 56July 26, 2024 12:55 PM

by Anonymousreply 59July 26, 2024 1:03 PM

Obama supported gay marriage before he was against it as he was running for President. Unlike Joe he didn’t actually vote for anti LGB legislation. Yall not about to convince me Joe was some huge liberal crusader, despite being an American patriot when for 30 years he was rank and file right of center democrat. No bussing today, no bussing tomorrow, no bussing for life.

by Anonymousreply 60July 26, 2024 1:08 PM

And he only forced their hand because he gaffed lol.

by Anonymousreply 61July 26, 2024 1:10 PM

Biden's the reason student loan debt can't be discharged in bankruptcy, he had a chance to right these wrongs but failed. Kamala has done next to nothing in her role as VP. I hope and pray we don't get 4 years of Trump but social media excitement for Kamala doesn't guarantee a trip to the polls. The base is divided.

by Anonymousreply 62July 26, 2024 1:11 PM

Just keep telling yourself that, r62.

by Anonymousreply 63July 26, 2024 1:11 PM

LOL!

OMG, r43, I've been here for-evah, over 2 decades, and that Gary Coleman thing never failed to crack me up.

I haven't seen that in a very long time.

by Anonymousreply 64July 26, 2024 1:12 PM

R62, no, it isn’t

by Anonymousreply 65July 26, 2024 1:14 PM

Actually, NY Times has decreed that the Democratic base has come together, but it's a "concern" as to whether she can attract the votes she needs beyond that.

by Anonymousreply 66July 26, 2024 1:20 PM

[quote] I always wonder about endorsements in general. The Obama's are personably very popular but is that something that is necessarily transferable? I guess it is better to have it than not?

Just wait until the Democratic National Convention. A united party boosting a consensus candidate with the most glittering stars in the political, media and cultural universe will do wonders for Harris' movement.

by Anonymousreply 67July 26, 2024 1:22 PM

You can find fault with any US president, but Obama is still the best we've had in the 21st century. If his endorsement doesn't mean anything, then whose does? So many trolls and negative Nancys just trying to piss in everyone's cornflakes. Can we not enjoy a bit of hope and optimism for the first time in years, or is that not the DL way?

by Anonymousreply 68July 26, 2024 1:23 PM

[quote]Can we not enjoy a bit of hope and optimism for the first time in years, or is that not the DL way?

You must be new here.

by Anonymousreply 69July 26, 2024 1:26 PM

What r68 said.

And I write that as one who has cooled on Obama. In fact, in retrospect, I wish Hillary had been the candidate in 2008. Either Hillary or Obama would've defeated McCain.

But now it's all hands on deck.

As for the glittery "A List Stars" who will see and be seen at the DNC, great, I love that, too, but I'm sure VP Harris and the producers know that they have to spotlight way, way more the everyday Americans.

by Anonymousreply 70July 26, 2024 1:28 PM

[quote]You can find fault with any US president, but Obama is still the best we've had in the 21st century.

Biden has been better, achievements-wise.

by Anonymousreply 71July 26, 2024 1:30 PM

[quote] Actually, NY Times has decreed that the Democratic base has come together, but it's a "concern" as to whether she can attract the votes she needs beyond that.

Given that Trump still leads in the polls, the “concern” is well-founded.

by Anonymousreply 72July 26, 2024 1:32 PM

[quote] Biden has been better, achievements-wise.

This is r70. After reading your post and thinking about it, I agree with you, and Biden did it in 4 years.

In terms of pure political appeal, of course, Biden isn't Obama's league, something I think Biden himself would agree with.

I've been around long enough to have watched Clinton and Obama in their prime. I still haven't decided who had more political talent. I guess that means it's a tie.

by Anonymousreply 73July 26, 2024 1:44 PM

JFK was a better public speaker than either of them ^^^

by Anonymousreply 74July 26, 2024 1:47 PM

Obama also gave a tepid, last minute endorsement of Biden in 2020. Obama is king of the democrat party and does his most passionate work behind the scenes. My ultimate feeling is she wins but her term will be Obama 2.0. The Republican House and Senate will block all her legislation, the media will blame her for all the bad news, and her approval rating average will be about a 43. In my heart of hearts, I think she'll be a one term President.

by Anonymousreply 75July 26, 2024 2:54 PM

If she wins, I think there'll be a Dem House, with at least even odds on a Dem-controlled Senate.

by Anonymousreply 76July 26, 2024 2:59 PM
