You've Been Lied to About Inflation

Angry about airfares? Airlines merged from 12 carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Upset about grocery prices? 3 companies control 70% of grocery sales in 167 cities.

Mad about drug prices? A handful of drug companies control the pharmaceutical industry.

Monopolies are the problem.

Wow we had a dozen airlines in 80. Dam Al Quada. Why couldn’t you just be regular terrorists.

Monopolies are the problem.

Make the companies pay back the pandemic loans

I just learned that Safeway/Albertson's is trying to merge with QFC/Kroger/Fred Meyer, to make one GIANT grocery chain store.

Can you fucking believe this shit?

I don't know where this proposed merger is at, but it must be stopped!

Bust them up, this is bullshit.

Bye, bye Sherman Anti Trust Act.

Scorched earth deregulation, rather than targeted and timely deregulation is the problem. Not having a Congress that actually can pass an agenda is also a problem. This is why the EU is currently taking the front foot when it comes to regulating the internet and privacy.

by Anonymousreply 6July 26, 2024 10:47 AM

The judiciary will stop this. There are laws against monopolies.

by Anonymousreply 7July 26, 2024 11:19 AM

R6, the EU is why we have incessant notifications for cookie acceptance across the Internet. Even after even EU regulators agree it does nothing but annoy. Front foot, indeed.

by Anonymousreply 8July 26, 2024 11:33 AM

Interesting that you blame the regulator and not the tech companies for coming up with a solution. Google abandoned their cookie free browser due to advertising industry pressure this week.

Why all this hate?

I LOVE 💕 cookies 🍪

Big business has the politicians dancing on whatever strings they pull.

by Anonymousreply 11July 26, 2024 1:39 PM

I'd love to see Kamala take this issue HEAD ON.

But you know she won't.

None of these politicians will.

They're all beholden to corporate America.

Once again, the European trash forces us to click on the stupid warnings, they just can't stay in Europe and not bother anyone.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
