When I was a kid every year for my birthday for several years my mother would make from scratch pecan pie and serve it to me with a ton of yummy whipped cream – Yum! 😋

by Anonymousreply 4July 26, 2024 3:16 AM

Cherry or Blueberry. Does extra streusel make it not a pie but cobbler? Because I love that.

by Anonymousreply 5July 26, 2024 3:17 AM

A fruit galette is easier to make and tastes just as good as a fruit pie.

Should have included a poll. Minge...I mean uh, cherry, no, cherry or strawberry rhubarb pie. Pastry. Pie pastry. Right.

[quote]Does extra streusel make it not a pie but cobbler?

Let's not get into that big streusel debate again. I didn't think DL would ever recover from the last big fight over that topic.

Peach, apricot or pineapple.

We had apple trees in the back yard but they were not great eating apples. My mom made apple pie from them sometimes and it was delicious.

Baker's Square French Silk Chocolate Pie. Sadly, I think all the Baker's Square restaurants went under years ago. It was the best. Sigh.

by Anonymousreply 44July 26, 2024 2:00 PM

Chess or Fudge pie if I'm some place like Tennessee or Kentucky where these are native. Chess pie seems to show up elsewhere, but can be difficult to find. Dangerously Delicious Pies in Baltimore used to carry it.

Raspberry--difficult to find but worth the effort. Blackberry is awlways a fave of mine.

by Anonymousreply 45July 26, 2024 2:32 PM

There was a recent thread on reddit which insists that cobbler is better than pie.

by Anonymousreply 50July 26, 2024 3:55 PM

by Anonymousreply 51July 26, 2024 4:30 PM

Pecan, double-crust cherry (or any fruit, really).

by Anonymousreply 52July 26, 2024 4:37 PM

The best pie I've ever had included a Nilla wafer crust, then a layer of caramel pie filling, then a fairly big layer of Southern homemade banana pudding, all topped with crunched up Nilla wafers. The combo of the bananas and caramel were heavenly, and I keep saying I'm going to make this pie sometime, but I've not.
