Things that are more trouble than they're worth

Cat litter box liners

Crabs in the shell (who the fuck wants to use a hammer, tongs, and tweezers/picks just to access a tiny portion of tastes-like-nothing crabmeat?)

Crawfish in the shell (who the fuck wants to bite into a shell, then tear up your fingertips to prise out a tiny bit of crawfish meat? And don't get me started on needing an engineering degree to get the meat out of the crawfish legs. Or sucking the heads, which tastes like earwax)

A cat. Fussy eater, incompetent litter box user, vomiter, scratches doors when wanting food which is every hour, takes up entire bed for his naps and is annoyed when you scoot him over, flounces out, comes back and scratches door, stares at you dolefully like some Darfur orphan hoping you'll drop a crumb from your sandwich, having to hire expensive pet sitters when we want to go anywhere.

Threesomes.

Did it once, and what a letdown. It's a hot fantasy in theory, but in reality the dynamic is wonky. Inevitably there's one partner who's hotter, so it's more work to pleasure the less hot partner when you want to just fuck the hot one.

But they're a duo, so....

R29, they always looked like such fun on TV, movies, or friends' pools. Then my sister bought her current house almost 20 years ago, and just about every other conversation she's bitching about her pool. Shocking it, paying pro pool cleaners, skimming leaves/debris, chasing off ducks and geese wanting to lay their eggs in it, etc.

Nope.

by Anonymousreply 33July 26, 2024 8:07 PM

Yeah I had one in my last place OP / r33. Even with a cover I was cleaning it all the time. Pool boy? Try 65 yr old Italian guy who was the only reliable one I could find.

I include hot tubes, but not my first experience without the chlorine. That was my fault. Puffy eyes.

I've always been a notoriously slow eater. A roommate in grad school was Japanese, so in return for my letting her keep one of my thick homemade quilts for the semester, she taught me how to use chopsticks. For a couple of years they were what I used 75-80% of the time I cooked my meals.

The sticks made for even slower eating, so I quit using them during communal meals.

by Anonymousreply 42July 26, 2024 11:56 PM

Haha the mention of swimming pools reminds me of the one we had when I was a kid. It was one of those you had to erect yourself. Once it was up and running the novelty soon wore off. The water quickly got green and infested with tadpoles and then there was the hassle of getting the water out in deconstruction.

I always wondered about batter-powered vacuum cleaners. My friend kept espousing her Dyson, which is expensive. I have a small place and it's not a huge hassle for me to plug in my cheap-o vacuum cleaner (Dirt Devil) that does a good job at picking up dust from the floors.
