What is Palm Beach, Florida like?

and you have Palm Beach.

What do many of you think of "Palm Beach style" when it comes to interiors and homes?

R1 I could probably deal with everything on that list but Republicans.

I used to live in Palm Beach County, not the city. R1 is fairly spot on. I would add that the dominant culture is east coast (mainly NYC) and Jewish.

West Palm Beach is full of wealthy gays.

In Palm Beach, Florida all seems to breathe freedom and peace and to make one forget the world and its sad turmoils.

“Classy,” overpriced restaurants that slavishly cater to an overwhelmingly elderly clientele (pasta doesn’t come al dente because it’s too tough on dentures).

I do love the "Palm Beach style" for homes.

Beautiful - my cousin lives there. I really do love visiting.

It’s all Upper East Side gays who work in antique galleries, museums or fashion and who love getting dressed up (blazers are a must at cocktail parties). Walkers like Jerry Zipkin or Jonathan Adler.

They slum it in Fort Lauderdale when they need to remind themselves they’re gay and want to get laid.

You can save money on airfare and just get the book.

Fun fact - maybe 15 - 20 years ago, Palm Beach had a nice and sizeable gay nightlife, nude stripper bar, leather bars, bear bars. All long gone

They sell sunglasses made of gold.

R16 Gay nightlife is gone from most areas now since hookup apps became the norm.

Lots of bright, floral prints, go to hell pants, martinis and multiple facelifts

I imagine the city being full of old women trying to look like they're still in their 20s.

Palm Beach is long in the tooth. Too many old jews and silly fops swanning around in fancy loafers. Gross.

I was not familiar with the term “go-to-hell pants,” but I knew exactly what they were. Also very popular in Alexandria VA and Point O’ Woods on Fire Island.
