Celine Dion sang The Power Of The Dream at Atlanta 1996. I had it on cassette. You can see David Foster mugging like an asshole in the background and an excellent gospel choir.

She is apparently singing a duet of La Vie En Rose with Elder Singer Whisperer Lady Gaga.

Aya Nakamura will likely perform too. Oh Djadja.

I am not in any way a Celine fan.....but I might just cry if I see her singing at the opening ceremonies. Good for her for making a comeback.

If she stiffens up on stage Gaga will tell her "Don't pull that shit up here, knock it of and sing".

She did perform, and she was absolutely stunning........really a breath taking performance. Good for her!

The Piaf song was a nice change from Celine’s normal power ballad material sung at top volume. The more restrained singing and the imitation of Piaf’s phrasing allowed her to emote more with her voice than her gestures.

An opening ceremony that weird needed a singer of drama, emotion and balance to cap it off.

Celine knew exactly what the assignment was.

Her fans (especially my mom) always told me she's better in French. In this case I'd agree. Quite moving.

I think that was David Foster, again, at the 2024 Paris Olympics with Celine.

R29, NBC is guarding ever second of Olympic coverage and making sure practically no one profits from broadcast rights the Peacock paid dearly for.

We never had cable and I wanted to stream it on my tv in the kitchen and it was IMPOSSIBLE to watch the opening ceremonies online if you didn’t have a cable subscription or a membership to one of their umbrella of streaming platforms.

I eventually gave up and went into the den to watch my local NBC affiliate on the tv that has an antenna. By that time I had missed Gaga and was pissed!

It’s too bad that DL doesn’t having a function to put a sticky reply at the top indicating that it has been confirmed that Celine Dion did perform.
