A duet with Lady Gaga?

Isn’t she from Canada?

by Anonymousreply 2July 24, 2024 9:26 PM

R2, she is.

by Anonymousreply 3July 24, 2024 9:29 PM

Don’t the French have any talent of their own? They don’t even like the Qubecois.

by Anonymousreply 4July 24, 2024 11:00 PM

Celine Dion sang The Power Of The Dream at Atlanta 1996. I had it on cassette. You can see David Foster mugging like an asshole in the background and an excellent gospel choir.

She is apparently singing a duet of La Vie En Rose with Elder Singer Whisperer Lady Gaga.

Aya Nakamura will likely perform too. Oh Djadja.

I am not in any way a Celine fan.....but I might just cry if I see her singing at the opening ceremonies. Good for her for making a comeback.

by Anonymousreply 6July 26, 2024 6:33 PM

She looks MUCH better in OP's pic. She is eating again.

by Anonymousreply 7July 26, 2024 7:14 PM

If she stiffens up on stage Gaga will tell her "Don't pull that shit up here, knock it of and sing".

by Anonymousreply 8July 26, 2024 8:23 PM

She did perform, and she was absolutely stunning........really a breath taking performance. Good for her!

by Anonymousreply 9July 26, 2024 11:25 PM

She was wonderful!

by Anonymousreply 10July 26, 2024 11:30 PM

We call her the Celine The Ent at my house.

by Anonymousreply 11July 26, 2024 11:52 PM

BRAVA, Madame Dion!

Très Piaf!

by Anonymousreply 13July 27, 2024 2:30 AM

Her body may be sick but there's not a thing wrong with her voice.

by Anonymousreply 14July 27, 2024 2:35 AM

And the dress is stunning.

by Anonymousreply 15July 27, 2024 2:42 AM

I love her gestures when she sings, she gets totally into it. She brought down the house.

by Anonymousreply 16July 27, 2024 2:47 AM

What a terrific comeback for her.

by Anonymousreply 17July 27, 2024 3:09 AM

Wow. Her performance gave me chills.

by Anonymousreply 18July 27, 2024 4:39 AM

Fantastic! She's the only true living diva.

by Anonymousreply 19July 27, 2024 6:04 AM

If, indeed. this is her final performance, she goes out with a legendary moment.

by Anonymousreply 20July 27, 2024 6:05 AM

The might as well close the Olympics because Celine Dion won every gold media in every category.

Miss Celine is back!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 21July 27, 2024 6:12 AM

The Piaf song was a nice change from Celine’s normal power ballad material sung at top volume. The more restrained singing and the imitation of Piaf’s phrasing allowed her to emote more with her voice than her gestures.

by Anonymousreply 22July 27, 2024 7:20 AM

An opening ceremony that weird needed a singer of drama, emotion and balance to cap it off.

Celine knew exactly what the assignment was.

by Anonymousreply 23July 27, 2024 2:21 PM

Her fans (especially my mom) always told me she's better in French. In this case I'd agree. Quite moving.

by Anonymousreply 24July 27, 2024 3:10 PM

David Foster IS an asshole. One of the most self-important assholes ever. He thinks he's Jesus Christ.

by Anonymousreply 25July 27, 2024 4:20 PM

Celine performs at the 2015 American Music Awards in tribute to the 130 people who died in Paris from a terrorist attack a few days earlier. She sounds just as good, if not better, in 2024.

The problem then is that no one can understand the words.

R27, perhaps the people listening to her in Paris understood the lyrics. For the philistines:

French tv took down the YouTube video. Here is the NBC ...

I think that was David Foster, again, at the 2024 Paris Olympics with Celine.

by Anonymousreply 30July 27, 2024 7:23 PM

R29, NBC is guarding ever second of Olympic coverage and making sure practically no one profits from broadcast rights the Peacock paid dearly for.

We never had cable and I wanted to stream it on my tv in the kitchen and it was IMPOSSIBLE to watch the opening ceremonies online if you didn’t have a cable subscription or a membership to one of their umbrella of streaming platforms.

I eventually gave up and went into the den to watch my local NBC affiliate on the tv that has an antenna. By that time I had missed Gaga and was pissed!

It’s too bad that DL doesn’t having a function to put a sticky reply at the top indicating that it has been confirmed that Celine Dion did perform.

by Anonymousreply 32July 27, 2024 7:45 PM

Wonderful write up on the song.
