R12, the expression has been around far longer than has the hip hop world. I first heard it used in the 1960s. Yes, I'm old.
Online origins show it surfacing in written language in the 1990s. Maybe that's true re written word, but as oral language it's been around a long time.
I first heard it as a teen when a friend used butter face to describe another friend who had a great body but a plain face. I had to ask what he meant and he explained.
